My feeling is that with the stats it has (and looking at the turnrate on the Klingon ship PLUS cloak PLUS cannons), they should look at bumping the Ambassador's turnrate up to a 9 or 10 and add subsystem targeting, since it's a Science-y cruiser.
It is my *hope* the Devs will increase turn rate for the Ambassador Class. (If players recall, the Devs increased the Oddy's turn in the 11th hour last year)
It should at least be on-par with Excelsior [8]. Should they make a Fleet/C-Store, possibly a [9] if the Devs make a Science oriented version.
Lastly...a HUGE thank you to the Devs for finally bringing this ship in-game!
First off, I said TNG episodes. The DS9 battles acted as if no ships were using shields, even still, the Galaxys were shown firing one phaser beam at a time, hardly an arsenal. TNG starred a Galaxy class and showed it in battle in various circumstances, and is therefore a better reference than DS9 battles.
That's just silly. You can't limit it to one of the TV shows and say' This is the template for which ALL space battles must be judged concerning the Galaxy class'. That's like saying 'We're only going to judge the F-15 based on what it did in the Vietnam War'. You think that fighter never got an upgrade between that war and Desert Storm, where it was used again?
Besides, TNG also showed phasers being fired from the fore Photon Torpedo tube, and was seen using FAW firing multiple beams at a time from it's multiple Arrays. Sounds like you are the one who needs to brush up on some TNG episodes.

What's silly is you comparing a tv show with reality. I'm also not sure of your point with F-15's, as it would more defend my side of the argument. My point was, that the capabilities of a Galaxy class would be more accurately represented in the show that starred that class of ship. In the DS9 episodes, the ships were just random ships, not much thought put into it (and I'm talking from the production point of view of the tv series). Besides, nowhere in the Galaxy's appearances does it prove me wrong. The Enterprise was quickly disabled by two Klingon birds of prey captured by Ferengi. The Enterprise was destroyed by a 20 year old bird of prey. Even considering that the bird of prey was penetrating its shields, the Enterprise should've been able to destroy it in the length of time the battle lasted.
At no point in TNG or DS9 was the Galaxy class shown to have any kind of real superior tactical ability. You've certainly provided no evidence to suggest that a Galaxy class would outgun a retrofitted Ambassador. The Galaxy class was stated on countless occasions to have been built for exploratory purposes in peacetime. So where do you get this irrational belief that the Galaxy class is so tough? Because you're a TNG fanboy? The Ambassador is smaller, would be more maneuverable, and obviously has a similar number of weapon placements as the Galaxy. With those weapons upgraded to be on par with a Galaxy, why would the Ambassador be inferior? The only way the Galaxy would have the advantage is while the saucer was separated, which does give the Galaxy quite a usefulness boost in the game. If the AI of pets were a bit more intelligent, it would be a lot better. However, we don't know that the Ambassador didn't have the ability to separate the saucer. Even the Constitution class had the ability, even though it was never shown on screen, so I guess the Galaxy may lose out again.
You also ignored what I said about the Excelsior Class Lakota beating the hell out of the Defiant. We're also talking about a 20 year difference between the Ambassador and Galaxy, which is nothing. (I'm also confused as to your point about the phaser being fired from the forward torpedo launcher. It was a mistake made by the FX people for that episode. I think you're grasping at straws.)
I wished the T5 Retrofit Ambassador would have been Probert's original concept design.
I'm going to make a bet that they are going to skip the C-store and make a fleet version and it will have a skin based off the original concept design.
Finally found a thread about the Ambassador.
Let me say this from the beginning, i hate it's BOFF layout. It's just as lame as the Galaxy Class BO layout. If Cryptic really hates TNG ships that much, then they should just stop introducing them. Flying such a ship is just a pain and plain boring.
Good day.
"...'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied--chains us all irrevocably.' ... The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today--"

I guess we just have to hope against hope that there are 3 versions in the C-store so there would be a difference in BOFF layout. I agree, the BOFF layout leaves much to be desired.
I am just wondering why the ship has a LTC science station but only has two science consoles. The Boff seating says its a Sci cruiser but the console setup says its a tac cruiser.
Thank You Cryptic! Awarding the new ships as both Tier 3 and 5 versions in one event is perhaps the most Briliant move to make! I sorely miss the T3 Excelsior (once puchaseable by energy credits) so a new ship for Commanders is a most welcome addition to the fleet! I'm gonna be busy, grabbing these for all my characters but it is clearly worth it! Thank You again Cryptic team!

I think the visual design is excellent. I saw a small model of Enterprise-C with blue trim. So I used the veteran hull and add blue Orion style pattern. Most of my ships have red patterns. It is not the best ship obviously but I love it. Usually in PvE matches I charge head first at Borg ships and take damage. Which being a tax officer and not tanking can be aggravating and costly. I thought owning enterprise a through e would be great. And it is. I was very careful with my attack on my first mission with the ambassador. I used the Borg space set an r s accelerator and spiral wave disrupters. It did great. Almost got caught up by orions in fed fleet alert but the ship took a pounding and repairs were quick. I was cautious with this ship and it paid off. Can't wait to get home and do some more stf and fleet mark runs.

Thanks for these great ships Cryptic. I love the Boff layout with Lt.Cmdr Sci and was looking for a sci-oriented cruiser like this for some time. I especially appreciate giving them their own bridges, so thanks for that as well it's a nice detail for us players. All in all it's a GREAT anniversary present and I'll have so fun times with these.
For those who say that the Ambassador is "meh" or not worthy my advice is to take a one more good look at the ship, it's stats, layout and role. If played as it's suposed to be the Ambassador is a real gem. I find it most usefull and durable so far. It's a proper Support Crusier and it plays it's role really good. I'm planing to make much use of this ship.
I also supose we'll see a Z-Store variant with 10 consoles in the near future. I only ask Cryptic if this happens the one extra console to be a sci. one. I'll be owning that as soon as it comes!
Hola! I LOVE the new Ambassador-class ship! Probably one of the most detailed ships in-game! This has definitely been the one ship I have been waiting for since I started playing STO and now that it's in-game I can't pull myself away from it! It's just so PERFECT. Well almost...
But being a nitpick... the impulse engine should be blue!
Anyway. HUGE thank you to the devs who put this thing together! It's been worth the wait! Not only is the ship great, but the mission to get it is amazing too! I've run it about half a dozen times because it's just so well put together. It's the perfect balance of ground RPG and space combat! Not to mention all the voice acting, ESPECIALLY the wonderful Denise Crosby!
Thanks again devs! And um... let's get that impulse engine color changed, mmkay?
My Tac, Thul Sarvour is Lv 34 Captain w/ 5 ships and 3 Ship slots remaining/open. Account is f2p currently. Will he gain any ship slots at promotion to Rear Adm, LH? An important factor in my decision to uncrate/launch the t3/Cdr Ambassador or not, as the 2 Ambassadors plus the Chel Grett make 3.
A less important question yet one that concerns many; what else can we do w/ the t3 Ambassadors that are superfluous to t5 characters?

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, the U.S.S. Exeter was Ambassador class. That wasn't stated in canon, though.
Several Ambassador class ships appeared in TNG; it's more than likely at least some of them were still in service during the Dominion War.

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!
We know the T5 one will come in a box. Haven't read anything about how the T3 version arrives.
And might i also suggest that the release of the Ambassador coincide with the soon to be release of TNG Season 3 on Blu Ray

Perhaps pwebranflakes can correct what i think the f2p metric is:
Account F2P / Gold
Tier 1 - 2 ships / 2 ships Lt
Tier 2 - 4 ships / 4 ships LtCdr
Tier 3 - 6 ships / 6 ships Cdr
Tier 4 - 8 ships / 8 ships Cpt
Tier 5 - 10 ships / 10 ships Rear Adm,LH
Tier 5 - 10 ships / 12 ships Vice Adm
