I have been having the launcher problem, just tried it and it works now. I am in the game right now.. so the problem may have been fixed.. for now atleast ;P
Havent seen this one yet the launcher layout is all mixed up and the dominion promotion is above everything which has shifted to the top left. Anyone else have this problem?
I am also having the launcher issue. Here is a workaround until they fix it.
Go to your cryptic install folder and look for a folder called "live" then run the gameclient.exe login and your online.
REMEMBER, this is a workaround and should not be used unless you have the launcher error. Also, try the launcher at each launch before you run the gameclient to be sure the launcher issue has not been fixed.
Those outside the US, including myself, also seem to be getting timed out errors to the client servers. The launcher workaround I posted above does not solve this.

For those of you complaining about Brandon closing the other thread, 2 points.
1. Brandon isn't a programmer, he's paid to communicate with and manage the STO community. This means that the time he spends closing and moderating threads doesn't take away from the time needed to fix the problems with the game.
2. It's easier for the devs to find information and for Brandon to relay it if it's all in one thread instead of across multiple threads with different people watching each one. Hence the reason for closing other threads on the subject and pointing them to this one.
my launcher dont even display the patch error just it don't run i see the icon on the bar like it is running but nothing happens

Been having this problem for over 9 months now and its good to see that its existence has finally been acknowledged. I have used hotspot shield while using the launcher and it seems to work (I turn it off once the game window opens). Unfortunately a new version of hotspot shield came out and now it won't work so now I am sidelined like the rest of you. All I have to say is that the fact that the entire cryptic studio team isn't busting their buns to fix this, and that this problem has existed for over a year now and is just being acknowledged, shows poor performance on cryptic's end. Come on Bran Flakes your job is to identify problems not just delete posts of real customers asking for help. If a problem that stops such a percentage of customers, some paying monthly and some having sunk hundreds of dollars into the game, from playing the game it MUST be fixed asap. Come on Cryptic I have seen better performance from community run emulator games.
I just downloaded the game and unfortunately I can only reply to threads and not create new ones. I am not sure if my problem is related to this thread or if it is a setting on my computer.
When I try to start the game a white box comes up and say "loading please wait". The Star Trek Online launcher then appears. I can see the Dominion advertisement and the logon box, however, another small black box comes up on top of this and says "loading". There is no download bar, the program seems to be using no internet or processing power. I can not click on the username or password box because the smaller black loading box is in the way. I am on windows 8.
Anybody know what's up with this? Is there some setting I need to mess with to get it to load?

I can't even get into the program. Whenever I try and login, it closes the launcher and gives me a little report box with error ticket 14457539.
I've been having this problem since the update. Anyone else having this issue or any ideas on how to fix it?

again with the launcher problems. can we please just put a sticky to an up to date working version of the launcher file? this is a sure fix, that takes about 90 seconds to do if you are having the problem. very convenient.

I was able to log-in after maintenance and access the game (at a snail's pace. Fracking lag...), and now the launcher isn't working right again! Something needs to be done! End of story...

"Trying to update autolauncher" came up. I thought Gee, maybe I'll be able to actually play for the first time in 3 days without the launcher crashing.
Imagine my shock & awe when the launcher was still crashing the second I hit the login button. I sent a complaint off to Cryptic's troubleshooting team via the startrekonline.com webpage. Basically all I got was the standard "we are aware of the problem and are working on it, please be patient."
So is everyone locked out of STO, or it is just a random roulette of who actually is able to get into the game and who can't?
i was off the game for several hours. I come back and i am getting the same error that it looks like a few other people are getting about the launcher not properly updating. Hope this gets fixed soon as I just got a new 40" monitor and was looking forward to trying the game out on it.

I had some trouble with the launcher a couple minutes ago (It happens pretty much every time they update the launcher). Downloading the updated one manually and replacing the file in your STO directory works every time for me.
Hanging on Patcher as well. Updated Launcher and still doing the same thing. Was in game until about an hour ago then game lost connection opened launcher to get back in after reseting modem to insure it was not my end and now this.

"We will be performing shard maintenance on February 1st from 6-8 AM PST (1400-1600 UTC)."
