Isn't it time for a TRUE Federation Carrier

With all the recent release in regards to carriers or flight deck Carrier, The Federation needs a true Carrier befitting of the name.

Sure we have the Caitian Kitty Carrier and though they are part of the Federation, their vessel is not an official one.

We have the Artimage Flight Deck Carrier - A plus that competes against the KDF Orion Flight Deck Carrier. However; the Atrox is dead last in the true Carrier department in comparison to the KDF OFFICIAL Faction Carrier and the now Recluse Carrier.

The Recluse is the superior Carrier out of three pound for pound.

I am hoping that Cryptic releases an Official Federation of Planets Carrier that is on par with the Recluse and the KDF Carrier.

Give us a Typhon class type Carrier or something that resembles a true blue Carrier but wearing the Federation banner.

It would be nice to expand on the Fighter selections as well as implement official Federation type bombers that pack a whallop against shields and armor.

Hell something with a dive bomber formation or something, or strifing run formation.

    Well the atrox is still the largest ship in the game so atrox > anything but true enough that's the one thing the atrox has going for it.

    More carriers I will always be down for just remember to let the atrox keep its place at the top.

    Since KDF has 2 carriers I guess it would be only fair if the feds got a new one.

    Then it would be fair if the KDF got:
    - a 5 tac console raptor
    - the equivalent of the Vesta
    - a c-store flight-deck escort
    - 3-4 science fleet ships

    As soon as the KDF gets this then it's fair for the Fed to get a new carrier. :)

    I have a better idea,
    replace all hangar slots with universal facing weapon slots.
    no more carriers.

    Not going to happen. They will rather sell new carrier in lockbox, than update existing ships....hence why there are dozens of obsolete ships.

    `my reasons? the B'Rel BoP is a true glass cannon, exactly what ALL escorts should be, it should have +5 tac console.
    most escorts have hugs hulls and MASSIVE damage and the ability to tank and defend itself better than almost every other ship, The B'Rel has low hull and should have massive damage exactly what people who want to DPS everything should be flying! ... Period.

    to the OP, the Atrox is fine, to be a carrier you depend on your fighters, as for the Vesta its a horrid ship, its the most vile statement of a ship.
    I played from Open Beta and I still continue to play, during the first and second year of STO Tactical Captains where able to use Science Powers better than Science Captains who had spec'd their skills to that power.
    in turn cryptic down toned every skill that the Tactical Captains used... the Vesta just gives Tactical Captains the edge over true Science/Science Captains.

    as for the Armitage Escort Carrier, its a vile statement against the KDF, who continue to this day to recieve nothing. maybe a mirror ship in this box and mirror ship in that box.

    Indeed! The way the KDF is balanced against this by having the better toy consoles, easy and pain free Dil generation and faster (and more profitable Dil-wise) alt leveling has got to be fixed! Both sides should be equal from a game design standpoint.

    I am fairly certain the Dominion Dreadnaught is bigger than the Atrox.

    Either way, I'd love to see a Federation style carrier. Call it a mobile outpost, if you want. :P

    First, it's "Good news everyone!". Second, will you KDF whiners stop complaining. Go back and watch every battle ever containing Klingons. You will see over a dozen different types of Federation vessels ranging from the small Defiant class to the massive Galaxy class. You will see three types of Klingon ships: Bird of Preys, Vor'chas and K't'ingas. Four if you count Negvars but only one of those was in service during the entire Dominion War and the others appeared in alternate timelines. Klingon starships are like Russian tanks, they pick a few designs (e.g. T34, Stalin II) and build as many of them as possible hoping to overwhelm their foes with superior numbers. If you want multiple ship classes, join the Federation. Klingons prefer quantity over variety. Watch DS9. You'll see what I am talking about.

    That's easy, its because a Starfleet vessel was the focal point of the series, not a KDF one and it was easier to build models of Starfleet ships than the Klingon ones. If we got a KDF-centric series, I imagine that a vast amount of new designs will pop up, especially with CGI now.

    First off, it's Birds of Prey.

    Secondly, one snapshot of one conflict, told from an entirely Federation-centric point of view with a limited effects budget, does not a comprehensive understanding of a battle doctrine, or a faction's entire arsenal make.

    I only read the OP statement so forgive me if someone has already mentioned this...

    BUT I think a true carrier would be a Galaxy Class upgrade and maybe do justice to this proud class of ship once and for all.

    Unlikely.

    Why?

    You've already got the Gal-X and the refit (blanking on the name, Venture I think?).

    Plus, to mechanically make a Galaxy a carrier, one would have to both hollow out the saucer to make room for more than a token number of craft, and completely rework the access points. Even doing that, I don't think it would be plausible to see things like the Aquarius flying inside the hull of a Galaxy.

    Simply put, for a frigate launching Fed-side carrier, it's going to need to be something much larger, and a "less than standard" design.

    You know what would also be fair? KDF having 50+ Unique Story Missions with mission rewards like the Coveriant Personal Shield, Overcharged Plasma Sniper, Flux Chronitons, Polarized Tetryon Beam Arrays. THAN we can talk about fair.

    Anytime you make a thread asking for Starfleet things based on the merit of fairness compared to the KDF, you automatically forfeit the thread.

    I must have missed the episodes where Starfleet personnel could wear uniforms from the Mirror Universe and prior centuries while flying other race's ships.
