I would like to have Andorians in the KDF. Followers of the old warlike traditions and the old religion.
Andorians are in many ways like Klingons. They like hand to hand combat to settle issues. The Andorian ships are in many ways like Klingon ships, designed with an emphasize on firepower.
    So yeah, Andorians.

As much as I would love to have a Ferasan ship in game (as I'm proud to be the leader of the largest Ferasan fleet in game), that's off topic.

    Interesting thought though. ;)

Voting "No" to new playable species is irrelevant. Simply not voting means that the number for the chosen species do not go up, hence there is no need to add "no" votes to the results. Cryptic can simply see which species has the highest vote vs. the lowest vote. Alternatively the community manager can read the thread and pass on any feedback to the Star Trek Online development team.

Even though the Son'a are a dying race, their ships and tech are pretty cool, and they are powerful enough have to other races in servitude. I can see how they could benefit the KDF.

The Satarrans use of sabotage and infiltration wouldn't appeal to a lot of Klingon's, but "There is no greater Honour than Victory" so a place in the empire would be feasible. Plus that's a damn awesome makeup job. I want them in the game somehow.

I know everyone is saying that the Insectoids and the Reptilians should join the KDF and the Feds get the rest of the Xindi. But I really really want a giant bug on my ship. I think a reasonable compromise would be: Both sides can get all the Xindi races, but only the KDF gets Xindi ships.

Out of the choices given I would pick these three:

1 Andorian - honorable aggressive and militaristic would fit right in to the KDF
2 Xindi Insectoid - I have mixed feelings would be neat aesthetically but their level of deceit and treachery would fit more with the Romulans
3 Hirogen - aggressive hunters again they would fit well with the KDF

I definitely do not want these three:

1 Antedean - blech just no...
2 Suliban - again - ugh just no on every level.
3 Sheliak - no Klingon would ever get along with this obnoxious species they are as repulsive as Ferengi

    Other comments:
Not sure why the Gorn are listed since they are already in the Empire. I would definitely like the TOS style of character model back as an optional choice, my Gorn would like to look more authentic and a lot less like godzilla and the same goes for my Gorn BOffs.

The Fek'ihri might be nice but it would depend on the specific species, in game there are something like 4 or 5 racial types listed as part of the Fek'ihri hordes. Some look cool others just look like goofy escapees from some fantasy mmo. Just depends...

And as others have said - The Children of San-Tarah would be a perfect choice to add in!

    My votes (three wasn't it?).

One for the Xindi-insectoids (because I think they look different from virtually everything else and I just simply like them).
One vote for the Talarian, which is due to their social structure.
One vote for the Children of San-Tarah if possible

Something less bestial, more refined, but more oriented toward the KDF's style of play (marauding, etc).

Weirdly, the mental image that comes to mind is like... 'vampires'. Probably allied to the KDF out of convenience, not out of any particular attraction.

I can't think of any good races from Trek cannon that might actually suit, but that's never stopped the Trek writers before, anyway. Make something up! Give their ships a far less.. utilitarian and brutalist design than KDF's standard. More similar to, say, the Federation in their relatively clean, simplistic design style.

I'd probably make them avians of some type and make their ships all whispering gossamer.

The issue I have with all the currently listed species is that with the exception of, say, the Sheliak they're basically the same, with the same attitudes. I think it gets kind of tiresome to have the KDF basically stuck as a gang of brutal thugs.

We need more refined thugs. :P

While space vampires is a rather silly idea, I find this very, very true. ;)

I know I know that the whole 'space vampire' thing is silly, the principle still holds. :P

It's one of the reasons I kind of prefer playing my Fed char to my KDF char. Everything on the ground and in space in the KDF is so..brutalist.

I'm sure the same is true of the Feds in reverse; all the Fed architecture looks the same and it all looks sort of silly. It'd be nice to see some variation and possibly different architecture styles for different holdings. Even the embassy on New Romulus is very blah styled. Not unique at all, really.

Anyway, I just feel like adding "another hairy thuggish race" to the KDF won't bring any new... opportunities, either for ships or for characters or for art. At least, say, adding the Caitans to the UFP brought new-style ships, and there is a nice difference between, say, the Gorn and the KDF...but it's not really enough, in my opinion.

I think before adding any further races that female Nausicaans, Letheans and Gorn should be added first. Whether or not none have ever be seen on TV doesn't matter.. that's why you get concept artists to come up with something.

Also, please keep the Xindi (all four that could be playable) as Federation-only. They end up joining the Federation eventually and I doubt they would do so if they weren't united.

As for races I'd like to see put in the game for the Empire. I like two of the suggestions that have already been made thus far and I think that they would fit in with the Empire's warrior beliefs.

    - Talarians
    - Chalnoth

    - Arin'Sen (Parts are already in the game. They have past relations with the Klingons.. the Klingons annexed one of their colonies in the 2150s. And they're also visually distinct by their grey skin and forehead ridges.)

The Clamarain (sp?) -- if just to keep Q off Homeworld.

But then this is all entirely moot unless Cryptic reverses Season 7 and makes alts (and, thus, BUYING character slots) viable again.
    Leave nerfing to the professionals.

If we are never to see them as a faction, I would definitely like to see Romulans as a race...if thats the case I would like to see some romulan vessels as well...would make sense since we have a few ships of other races.

I know this isn't quite on topic but I would also like to see if possible perhaps female Letheans and Nausicaan...I know they won't be pretty but would be nice to have them and be able to make a female with Nausicnan armor.

The funny thing with the Gorn is that.... we don't know if we've seen any female Gorn. Gorn are Reptilian, but if they're more reptilian than humanoid, they might not have obvious gender differences. For some reason I like the idea of colored crests for female Gorn though....

You forgot Letheans. They're a generally humanoid race..... though about as hideous as the Nausicaans.... they are largely the same as most humanoids. It's easy to imaging Letheans and Nausicaans having a female form similar to most humanoids.... but with Lethean or Nausicaan features.

    Kriosian
    Romulan
    Talarian

Why those three? Those are the only three in the list that I'd consider playing, for aesthetics reasons. Mind you, I recognize that some of the others might be more appropriate for the KDF, but I wouldn't play them.

One you could add to both:

    Deferi

    For KDF only?

How about females for the currently uni-gender races?

But, since this is about a new race, here's mine:

    Son'a
    Tarlac
    Ellora

Could come with a new ship complete with a specialized isolytic subspace weapon.

I agee that the Kasheeta and all xindi species should be in game! But I think they belong on the Fed side since we already have Xindi Doff's. I posted on the klingon gameplay section that the Breen would make a great playable KDF race. They are formiddable allies to have and can attack the feds from the other side. I think that they would make the KDF side a real rogues gallery ntm their ships are very cool. I love the look of the Breen Npc's and would love to play as one. Oh and bring back retro gorn and have retro Klingons.

Personally I think the Remans should go to KDF and Romulans to Feds. That is unless they decide to make the Romulan faction.

Then again im a fan of all races being for all factions. Just because im a Human doesn't mean I instinctively fight for Earth. Worf displayed this by fighting for Federation while he had opportunity to fight for his people instead.

There were also many other cross-overs in Trek. The last few episodes of DS9 displayed Cardassians fighting against their own people and so on.

In an ideal world id remove the alien race and just allow all races to go wherever they like. Obviously some races don't make sense in certain places, romulans in KDF for example but then stranger has happened.

In actual response to this thread however id say the Xindi (full range but if I had to pick insectoid... Make the devs work for their money :P).

I don't however feel like the KDF need any new races.

Just missions made from their perspective will do me.

I think thematically a few of the already mentioned races fit well with the KDF.

    Markalian (Criminals)
    Talarian (Warriors)

I think a few races mentioned shouldn't be given to the KDF, and would make better parts of a Romulan faction.

    Romulan/Reman (obviously)
Hirogen (already amenable to working with Romulans)
    Corvallen (operate in/near Romulan space)
I think Miradorn and Yridian would also go well as Romulans rather than KDF.

Races not mentioned that could go with the KDF:

Arkonian (dislike Vulcans, probably dislike Romulans)
Boslic (slave traders dealt with Orions)
    Elasian (vicious and aggressive)
    Farian (ties to Orion Syndicate)
Tzenkethi (warred with federation, unknown look so you could make one up)

Of course, if you want something kind of out there, you could always go for the Aurelians/Skorr
