All of the races which come to mind would be better served as neutral races, or possibly antagonistic races to both factions. The Sheliak, for example. I want to see them, and I want the KDF to have more options, but they'd wouldn't work as playable characters without a Tholian-style reimagining and even if they did, they'd work even better as something to shoot at.
Yes and no... the forehead broblem was do to a virus causing genetic damage. It's not clear whether all of the victims were cured.
I'd assume by the 24th century that if they weren't all cured then the cured klingons were the majority and the ones still affected by the augment virus were kept out of sight of non-klingons as much as possible.

Actually by 2409 all where cured according to some soft canon gaming material I've read. Though the effects where not always perfectly restored which is why we get some Klingons (like Chang) whom only had a very light amount of ridges.
As to new KDF races, I certainly would like the Children of San-Tarah as an addition. If we can't have them due to copyright issues then just make a generic canine race and call them Children of the Pack, and make them the adventurous members of thier species.
I could elaborate on things like their possible grudge against the Federation due to events in Insurrection, or that since they have colonies in Cardassian space they would be vulnerable to the new Cardassian/Federation alliance so they decide to ally themselves to the KDF.
But really, I'd love to get my hands on the Son'a Battlecruiser.

Interesting... But how many Son'a are left? They weren't a proper race and were more like renegade Ba'ku. It does sound like an interesting idea though.
Anyways, the point about TOS Klingons is that, unless they were cured, their children would inherit the genetic defects that caused them to look like that. Were most of them cured? yes, ALL? I dunno.

Well I'm largely clueless when it comes to the lore, and the Cardassian thing I picked up from the wiki.
But I do remember that in the Star Trek Armada RTS game one of the first missions was in the Briar Patch - defending the planet from a small Son'a force who attempted to take the planet back. Fun fact, I would always take over the Son'a cruisers so I could command them
This tells me that they do still exist, and they have sufficient numbers/resources to build and crew starships. I can't see it being a problem, STO has cats for goodness sake.

True. The backstory behind the Son'a is that a group of Ba'ku left the Briar Patch and lived in exile outside it somewhere. We don't know exactly where, but we do know they were involved in the Dominion war on the side of the Founders. While in exile, the Son'a conquered two pre-warp races(the Tarlac and Ellora and forced them to work as slaves. It's also been mentioned that they had several "colony worlds" under their control.
So... it's conceivable that some of the could side with the KDF.
Xindi are supposed to become part of the Federation, but I could see Xindi Insectoids and Reptilians joining KDF.
KDF should absolutely get the Son'a, but since the Xindi make decisions as a group, I'm really against breaking up the species like that. I'm also against giving the KDF Insectoids and Reptilians simply because they're ugly.
I would prefer both sides getting access all the Xindi races (minus the Aquatics for obvious reasons).
The Hur'q, we never did see them on screen, what we know of....
Well... Star Trek: Invasion made them into a race of bug people. But since it isn't canon, skeletor man is awesome, and we don't have that license anyway....
Now I'm not saying there definitely will be a new playable species available to the KDF by season 8, but let's all assume there will be and gather some feedback for Cryptic.
Take some time and have a look through this list of Alpha and Beta Quadrant species (click).
Now simply choose three and no more, then state why you have chosen those species and I will update this post to show the results.
Also feel free to discuss which species you would NOT like to see in the KDF, but remember to respect other forum members opinions.
I vote for Romulan but they really need to be a new faction. They are trying to slip them in with a klingon empire treaty. I see what going on. What ever they do I really want a female KDF boot issue that isnt plain stupid!
Don't think I mentioned them earlier but these guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEXkFNE-O3k They appeared on screen so they may be considered canon. They have a tendency to steal collectibles and kidnap women.

For the love of all, NO please no. Burger King already had the sense to rid itself of the scary plastic dude, let him just die the horrible death he deserves and be done with it. The UNIVERSE doesn't need him, let alone the KDF.
The Kazon aren't from either the Alpha or Beta Quadrant, they're from the Delta Quadrant.
On the bright side I've heard that when STO starts focusing on the Delta Quadrant the Klingons are going to get Kazon and Starfleet the Ocompa. Talaxians will be a playable race as well, but I don't know for who, maybe both. If the Romulans are a faction by that time, they'll probably get the hurogen.

I thought the Hirogen were already planned as being part of the RSE from the beginning (meaning whenever the faction is created). There is already an in-game reason for them to be there. Sela made contact with them in exile and brought several ships/fleets over when she overthrew Taris.

I assume they were all cured, or that the virus wore off eventually as the their crazy Klingon immune systems learned to fight it more effectively..

Those guys were so crappy even the Borg refused to assimilate them (no kidding).
