Cool, when do I get these magical instructions because the code I received does not work on either Steam nor STO sites? :(

I believe it should have been in your email. Info:
    1. Visit StarTrekOnline.com/Splash
    2. Create a free account. Already have one? Please log in.
    3. Once logged in, click the 'My Account' link at the top of the Star Trek Online homepage.
    4. Once in your 'My Account' portal, click the 'Redeem Key' link.
    5. Enter the key in the field and click 'Submit'.
    6. If you have not done so already, download the game at StarTrekOnline.com/Download, install and log in.
    7. You can claim your promotional items through the in-game C-Store, under the 'Bundles' tab.

    Cheers,

There is no key in the email, Bran. There's a confirmation number that might look like one, but isn't it.

2 Lt eng stations but only a ensign sci station? no thanks, I would never get into a ship without Lt Sci as minimum. I understand they need new unique boff layouts but this one is silly.

    Just create the common folder.

Steamrunner looks beautiful... props to ship design folk. Will be nice to add some more diversity to the escorts out there.

I was able to get the code by going into steam, right clicking on Star Trek Online and choosing View CD Keys.

Also, the VA Steamrunner shows up in game as having a 0.7 shield modifier as well.

    Nevermind, I figured it out.

Go To you Star Trek Online section in the Libary.

Off on the right hand side there's a number of links, select "CD Key", that will show you all keys you own for the game. Inlcuding the 7 digit product key.

    Hi Captains,

Steam will be updating the text for the VA version of the Steamrunner -- it should actually list a shield modifier of 1, not .7 .

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

So this 10 dollar ship has better shields than the 20 dollar fleet ship (2000 zen) I was saving to buy ?

Cryptic sure has a funny way of telling their customers they're important.

Brandon, I have "redeemed" it, but it doesnt show as an activated feature on my subscriptions, should it?

    FRAK THAT!

i am sitting on 14000 Zen...
and they release DLC through Steam where i can not pay with Zen but only with PayPal.... aaaaw yeah some Beancounter Suit must be real proud of himself now.

    I will not support this,
the only result we will see from this is that they will sell MORE DLC through Steam more often circumventing the Dilithium Exchange Users and forcing us to pay RL Money instead.

To be fair, it's a promotional thing. Past the 16th, the price goes up. Right now, those $10 are 60% off.

Obviously I'm a bit rusty with steam, haven't used it much lately, but you don't need to keep steam running on your computer. You can switch it off. Remove it from the startup queue. Or uninstall once you're done. I don't know if they at any point give you the product code - I forgot, I may have overlooked it as 7 digits would not look like a key as I thought I knew it - but you only really need the program temporarily. May not even not to install STO. (I had it started before I realized it might be under the 'CD key' link.)

If you do end up installing it, and keeping steam, but deciding you don't want to waste space on a double install of STO... don't rightclick delete STO from the Steam library. I seem to recall doing that once before, and it uninstalling my regular install, my Tribble and Redshirt installs, right along with it. Just find it in explorer and... deal with it, decisively.

A question: Can this ship be reclaimed after it has already been claimed by another character? Like the C-Store ships can be claimed or is this a one time and one char only deal?

    This isn't working for me.
    1. What do you mean by Just take your Star Trek Online folder and stick it in Steam\steamapps\common.

    2. What Steam\steamapps\common folder? I have the Steam\steamapps open, but there is no common folder.

"\steamapps\common" will appear if you have any games installed. Steam likes to put all installed games there. If it's not there, just install STO via Steam but interrupt the download process. All the needed folders, .blob and registry mods will be done. THEN copy/move your current STO folder.

Once you've made your purchase, you don't need to run Steam any more.

It's like copying Tribble files onto Holo.

PS If you follow the below. You shouldn't need to even install the Steam client.

To redeem your Starter Pack after purchase:
    Visit StarTrekOnline.com/Splash
Create a free account. Already have one? Please log in.
Once logged in, click the “My Account” link at the top of the Star Trek Online homepage.
Once in your “My Account” portal, click the “Redeem Key” link.
Enter the key in the field and click ‘Submit’.
If you have not done so already, download the game at StarTrekOnline.com/Download, install and log in.
You can claim your promotional items through the in-game C-Store, under the ‘Bundles’ tab.

i.e. go to http://sto.perfectworld.com/ and log in, go to My Account and Redeem your key (ignore the 'key has to be 25 chars long').

    - impulse engines do not belong there

    - the blue glowy parts on the Warp Nacelles sides is missing !?

    - is it just the angle of the pictures or are the proportions of the nacelles and worse the deflector section wrong?

A fan-made CGI-model does not a valid source make. After some searching around, it appears the clearest on-screen appearances of the Steamrunner are both from First Contact:

    1. A half destroyed hulk

    2. One of the ships coming to bear on the cube under Picard's order

The hulk was top-down view, with everything powered down. Hard to tell where the impulse engines are with no glow, and you can't see the rear of the boom/pylons. The ship coming to bear on the cube was front-on, so you again can't tell where impulse engines may or may not be.

Next most likely source is the art in the DS9 tech manual. All the ships represented there are, annoyingly, from a side view. No help there.

Everything else is a tiny, blurry background image from battles in DS9, especially Sacrifice of Angels. So, if JamJamz wants to put the impulse engines on the boom because he thinks it looks better that way, I see no canon source to dispute it.

    As for the other points:

I think the glowing part of the nacelles is there. You can kind of see it in the screen shot where it shows the effect of the Team Fortress console, but the bloom is washing it out.

Hard to tell specifics about the angles given the poor quality of the canon images.

ok lets try this again with the original source material from DrexFiles!

    http://drexfiles.wordpress.com/2009/06/11/alex-jaeger-week-steamrunner-class/

i stand corrected, there are no glows at all on the sides of the warp nacelles...

but there are clearly no engines on the Struts or anywhere else for that matter.
so this is, after the Nebula Class, the 2nd Ship without Impulse Engines.

i guess they didn't add that much detail because it was only a small background Ship.

still, the thin struts are an odd position for engines

    //edit:
also just checked the battle scene in First Contact in 1080p, clearly no glows on the model there either.

I just been spent over 2 hours trying to claim my Steamrunner and I just learned that it's only for those who play STO on Steam?

What about us who don't use Steam?

If we bought it on Steam? How can we not use it?
