It would be sound policy fom Cryptic to always release these bundles jointly ( a Fed bundle and a KDF bundle ) instead of releasing all those fed ships and not a single kdf ship ...having said that , I'm now wondering which would be the better deal : the Odyssey or the Vesta bundle.
And I agree with above statements : $50 for a ship-bundle is way too steep ( at the very least you should then include ship slots )

I find it a funny policy for the devs to create a double standard when it comes to the zen store and content creation. Dan and the other EP's always talk about how a smaller percentage of players pushing for something doesn't justify squandering dev resources on those projects since they aren't asked for and supported by a majority of the community. However, only a very small percentage of players can afford to spend hundreds of dollars on zen store shinies. Yet, their buying power is dictating that the Developers should spend most of their resources on developing shinies and dilithium sinks? Why? Because dilithium sinks and dilithium scarcity keep the relative value of zen to dilithium quite high. That means that the high rollers can just outbuy F2players and low spenders by buying large amounts of zen every month and converting it to dilithium. Forgo the a regular and consistent FE release schedule, as well as any sort of expansion, because megatransactions are where it's at.
Anybody see the problem with this? There is an inconsistency in what the devs are saying. They say that a minority cannot dictate content creation with respect to FE's and Klingon singleplayer missions, but the minority that spends hundreds of dollars every month can dictate what devs spend the majority of their resources on. There is no majority in a 1-5% minority. And in the absence of in-game or forum polls, how do the devs know what the majority wants? Are they just going to rely on statistics because all of the stats tell them is that they should keep creating shinies because those sell the best. What I want to know is whether or not that is actually healthy for the game.

Thats because it has nothing to do with what players want, be they big spenders or not, it has to do with metrics and bringing in moar profit. It's just a shame that as a result we have a game lacking in any new meaningful content or progress. Here's hoping Season 8 delivers what it was meant to promise.:(

Again I ask: how is that healthy for a game? Season 6 was supposed to be this game's savior. Now, we're unto hoping that season 7 and season 8 will save this game. There have to be some limits to the F2P model. If all we have to look forward to are new ships, that's sad and we should expect more. And it shouldn't take an entire 6 months to get a few new missions.
This is half serious and half joking but to expand on Dan's metaphor, pretty soon players aren't even going to be able to afford staying in the back seat and eating cheerios. The back seat will cost 250,000 dilithium and the cheerios will be tucked away in lock box. Jumping out will probably cost a jump token.
All I can say about this topic, is that it all translated into this:
"OH NO! This ship LOOKS so powerful! SO OP EVERYONE BUY IT OR BE OBSOLETE!"
Quite frankly, I'm not impressed with this thing. In the end, no one in their right mind is going to actually slot all of the consoles on this ship because, just like the Odyssey, you'll gimp yourself far, far too much by doing that in return for a few abilities (That I can only assume, probably quite accurately, will all be on fairly high cooldowns, considering what they are) that will never make up for what you could slot in their place. The Phaser Lance isn't integral, as on the Dreadnaught, so its automatically bad on its own (When its integral you don't lose anything by using it). The Fermion console likely won't be anything special other than being an AOE heal (that again, will likely be on a high cooldown and likely won't last long). And the MWFA console likely won't be anywhere near as effective as it sounds.
Out of the three consoles, only the Fermion and MWFA would be the only ones to ever be seriously considered, and only because they could possibly be able to be justified to take the place of a better console.
And as for the rest of it, its basically what the Fleet Odyssey should/could be, with the difference that it can slot cannons and is a science semi-carrier. Low weapon power, only 3 weapons fore and aft (meaning its all cannon or you may as well slot beams, meaning low weapon power gets worse), and the best variant for DPS being a poor man's Temporal Destroyer, all results in a very weak, very squishy ship that can TRIBBLE pets and throw Sci abilities around.
Its powers are so all over the place that very few builds will actually make efficient use of it all without forcing it to adhere to something that honestly, a lot of other ships can do far better. Escorts will do FAR better DPS, and Cruisers will tank far better. It might outclass a lot of science ships, but Sci in general is all over the place atm (and for that matter quite weak), so throwing another square in a box of circles and triangles isn't going to change much.
All in all, I think people are severely overblowing this ship because they can't recognize the difference between advertising and actual abilities. It's easy to make a ship seem OP when its accompanied by clear red flags (that I can't blame anyone for catching, like Cannons and the Hangar) and such a tantalizing advertisement that almost makes this ship sound like its one of the NPC Super Ships that are meant to copy the awesomeness of ships out of the shows. IE, the REAL Enterprise rather than the less than stellar original Galaxy or Sovereign that we get to fly.
EDIT: I would also imagine with virtually everyone going off their rockers over this ship that it'll get nerf-bombed anyway, so all in all, not worth the buy no matter how you spin it.
i am interested in the Vesta, but don't see myself getting it. Between my Fleet Defiant and lockbox/lobi ships i already have enough ships i don't use.
Now if they ever make it more convent to hotswap ships, Would love to be able Queue for a STF then pick the ship i want to use before loading....but we will never see anything that useful
A sweeping statement. It all comes down to personal taste. I don't particularly like the Defiant class. Never liked the look of it - it's lazy. Nothing more than an uninspiring saucer section with nacelles & a daft nose-job at the front - but it's got big guns so that's all supposed to be okay and we're all supposed to love it.
Yeah but you will like it when it puts out 7k-9k DPS in that STF you are in and has the speed and firepower to guard both sides in KASE or to guard all 3 BOP spawns on its own and still have enough time to help take shots at nanite probes in between.
I think we're approaching a point where I'd rather see consoles and weapons get sold for awhile.
OP or not, my demand for ships is saturated and I was mainly curious here to see what I could strip off for a Mobius Destroyer. (Answer: nothing really.)

Beautiful ship though.
It's more than beautiful, it's one of the few ships that's actually lived up to it's hype. Something I don't expect the Vesta to do though I have to admit it looks better now than I had originally thought it would, minus the consoles which seem way too gimmicky aside from maybe the Fermion thingy.
I'd agree on more console packs, cross faction or no. Honestly though I'd like to see console packs where you can choose which one instead of it only being the opposite faction norm.....I want a PD console for my fed ships but I can't justify buying a whole ship that I'll never use just to get it, same for the Enhanced Plasma Manifold.

It IS a beautiful ship. Perhaps the extended patch today is to make the Plasmonic Leech avail to Fed characters - would be interesting combined with Vesta other abilities.
Lol, this unlike the Odyssey though will be so OP that I guess you'll be seeing it 90% of the time more than just on launch day
I'm not sure the Vesta will be OP TBH. All those nifty gadgets take up valuable console slots and a single fighter bay isn't all that much of a boost in most DPS intensive cases (except static unshielded targets like gates.... good grief do they help there! lol).
Also, and most critical of all, those nifty gadgets tend to have 3 min cooldowns. Honestly, I don't foresee even a full power to weapons version being all that effective, certainly no more than most DPS based Sci Vessels. At least from my limited Sci Vessel experience. I fullly admit I'm no expert on Sci Vessels.
Still.... that is one UGLY ship! The Ody is no Enterprise, but at least looked regal.. in a floundering space whaley kind of way. This vesta looks like a poorly proportioned fanmade drawing that's been fleshed out and detailed. Out of curiosity a few months ago I went and looked at other of Mr. Redamaker designs and they all looked terrible to me. I guess its a case of differing tastes.. but good grief, the Vesta is sooooooo ugly!!
P.S> "pst! hey Cryptic, if you feel like licensing more stuff, get an X-304 skin for the Armitage/Thunderchild ship.... I guarantee to buy it day 1!!

Since I just bought a Vandal, I'm going to have to punish you for suggesting that Levi
I am wanting a true DPS Cruser.....One that can turn around on the same map !
I have them all no the Feds dont have one worthwhile yet
No like most Feds I dont buy the (role) for cruisers in a DPS goaled game either
The Vesta will be ok for my Science toon to take into season 7
The DPS in Science was lacking so this makes good buisness sense
The untapped money is in Cruisers Cryptic hasnt tapped that yet
All Cruiser Skippers want a Kirk Cruiser Cryptic !!!
This game is still EscortsORus
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

the thing is, both the Tholian and Temperal lockboxes have given us Sci captains some good DPS ships, both the Orb and Wells are very powerfull and versitile ships once geared
Will I buy it? Does it cost more than I get in my monthly stipend? Well, of course it does. No, I won't buy that. I've never bought any ships for zen or Cryptic points. I'm fine with the ships that are available through normal game play.
While the Vesta is not my favorite ship visually, it does meet my criteria for a "mid size" ship in the traditional Starfleet configuration (saucer, hull, 2 nacelles above) and can be fitted in such a way that makes it like a destroyer, or an escort-cruiser hybrid.
So I will get this. I had considered getting the LTS for the Chimera, but I wasn't sold on the visuals nor the 4 nacelle configuration, so the Vesta is the next best thing for me, with a better visual appearance, and cheaper as well.
Though I really wish this was getting a unique bridge like the Welles or the Odyssey. I especially love the Welles for it's command console which gives the player access to ALL Duty Officer assignments in one convienent and believeable location.

I'm thinking maybe pancakes." ~ John Casey
I don't see much interest in the new ship. My interest in ships more or less stopped at the Galor. SURE the Recluse is making me itch, but I'd rather have the Tarantula. And that is about it.
"You know, there are some words I've known since I was a schoolboy: ' With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably.' Those words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie as wisdom and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on we're all damaged. I fear that today..."
The ship is not in the Z-Store so how can you buy something not in the store?
C-Store :P

Hook me up with a romulan or borg carrier then we talk
I dont care about the power, to be honest, i just want the ship design and the class. Love the destiny novels so this was a great surprise for me.
Now that's an idea I like!
C-Store :P
Its killing me so much that I would pay double for this right now if they c store it.
While you can't get a Romulan carrier, just buy a character and get the Borg set and there's your Borg carrier.
