I think that the suggestion floating around to make a Targ-breeding program similar to the Tribble one Fed-side is the best way to go in order to bring the buffs to us.
Yeah, I think there are at least two, maybe three Tribbles that the Klingons can use, but that is only because they are special Tribbles Matunus, if there was a Targ breeding program in game, then there would be no need for Klingons to use any Tribbles.

That does sound familiar... did you have a starcruiser??? I think there was a time, wow really using the memory here, but i think if i recall i was on my fed toon and me you "possibly" cap, ralph, 2 other people i believe were fighting romulans and we were getting nailed pretty good and we finally killed them all and were like YAY!

Also were you in my vent at one time?
yep from like open beta and yea in your vent. before you joined ufp
What I don't understand is the timing. From a marketing perspective, the ambient Sehlat should show up first, wait for people to say "ooo! What's that? Me want!", perhaps plant a forum thread or two asking if people have noticed them ("Aren't they neat?! We might add them to the C-store.") and then announce it will be available to purchase I'm sure the rationale is something like they didn't want to wait and since it was ready they wanted to give players the chance to buy it now. That's playing the small game instead of watching the big picture. Sadly it takes the "buzz" away while leading to C-store conspiracy theories.
I thought they did a good job of timing with the Borg and Fluidic tribbles in the C-store. After the Cryo tribble, people were excited about tribbles again. I was proud of the marketing team for expecting the trend and capitalizing on it. Now I think it was more a lucky accident.
dStahl,
....how about i buy 10 of those and the Excelsior on top of it and therefore you tell a Dev to fix your User Interface so that it doesn't put my GPU in sleep mode while playing?
Maybe, but sometimes nothing is better than something. Are the people chomping at the bit for the Nebula the same people who buy pets? Will it appease them in some way? By releasing things early it might satisfy an internal metric, but does it serve a consumer need? On the other hand, regardless of their rationale, at least they are still releasing new things.
To get a pet, you have to pay for it though. This is how the developers could justify the development time.
Great news! That seems very fair of Cryptic.
Everybody gets the ambient creaturs to populate the barren planets... A long time complaint is resolved and people get to see the little critters by playing the game.
In addition, if someone choses to, they can purchase a little vanity pet which does nothing but follow you around.. Like the targ already in game.
In fact, that sounds more than fair to me.. Thanks much Cryptic for giving me more free content!
Actually yeah, pretty much like that. 2 or 3 week delay, 2 items easy to push out to keep the schedule going.
One is: Add those already-completed Tribbles to the C-Store vendor
The other: Take the targ, put the new model on it, and test it a little bit.
Its not a serious thing people, there's no need to concoct conspiracy theories.
Making them ambient is probably more complex, with making their "scampering" AI and then retrofitting them into the environments. So, someday? They'll be cool. I'd rather the environment programmers make content for the weeklies and such, myself.
This inst a big deal. In fact, it's not even a problem! It is in fact, a VANITY item. It is something cool that gives the player nothing besides a cuddly pet to follow his around. They said stuff like this goes in the C-store. You are over reacting, and you seem to be looking for things they are doing bad. And when you cant find one right now, you flip out because SURPRISE!! There's an item added to the C-store. One not vital to play, one that does not change the game. One that doesn't help or hurt anyone. JUST the kind of Item that should be added to the C-store.
Makes one wonder just how the hell Blizzard made due on just the premium fee for so long.
They had over five times the budget to start with and they have over fifty times the players, something you'd likely never see outside of sword and sorcery MMOs.
Checked your sig. I'm not a C-Store hater nor am I in high-school. Thanks for playing.
But your post history suggests you are intensely covetous of the items in the C-Store and simply don't wish to pay for them, so you're obviously not as disaffected as you claim to be.
Cryptic, don't wreck the game's revenue stream by giving EVERYTHING free. It doesn't take a genius to see these folks who come here and flame the forums don't know the first thing about business. People fuss about how stuff should be available in-game and then fuss about the amount of grinding required to get said item on top of it.
Don't you people want a Season 4 and 5 and 6 and 7? Don't you want this game to still be running 3-4 years from now? HOW DO YOU EXPECT THAT TO HAPPEN if you insist on shutting off all revenue streams to the developers, and come to the forums loudly proclaiming that you're cancel your subscription the minute you don't like something or get bored? As I've stated before, your $15/mo subscription BARELY COVERS LUNCH.
When was the last time you saw a viable business made out of a complete free-for-all? Remember free dial-up and how that was completely gone before high speed internet went mainstream? Don't you see Second Life hemorrhaging cash from all the freebie accounts, despite the actual land being quite expensive? They still can't make any serious money off Facebook and Twitter (granted there's some privacy concerns there).
The bottom line is your gimme-gimme-freebie mentality doesn't pay the bills. And if the bills aren't paid, the lights go off and the developers go home. And if the lights go off and the developers go home, there is no STO. I'd advise you to consider the bigger picture than just satisfying your personal greed.

Something that was easy to "polish up and push out" so to speak.
/triple facepalm Cryptic..../triple facepalm....
You mean like the test tribbles?

Beagle's are Food for my Pythons.
CANNOT WAIT!
Ditto
And you shall call him fluffy.
Yeah, because there isn't a monthly PREMIUM subscription fee also included in the price... oh wait...
Makes one wonder just how the hell Blizzard made due on just the premium fee for so long.
The truth is that we are getting soaked, nickel and dimed, penny pinched.
Hard to earn? Only if it does something. If it's just like the targ pet ... it should be as easy to get as a common tribble.
Only if you buy it. And it doesn't look like it's worth the money.

If they put a pet in the C-Store, I'll buy it, as long as it isn't something truly stupid, whatever that might be.
As long as it's small, I can't imagine a bad pet ever being released though.
