I have gone upstairs in the shipyard and looked at the level 3 tier ships, and do not find the Advanced Research Science Vessel listed, nor does it seem to be avaliable for purchase from the lutenant...
You're not the first person to get a little confused as to when the ship is available. Perhaps it's my fault for being overzealous and putting it on the chart before it goes onto the production server. I often get the ship pictures and such from Tribble, and sometimes I forget to show it's 'unavailable' on Holodeck. That being said, I've been thinking that the next time around, I may simply have the pics on there with text by the name saying "Under Development" or simply have them darkened out like the Captain's Yacht currently is. I had the Nebula this way until it came out on Tribble, and I think that worked... Maybe this time I'll leave a blue-print diag or something as a placeholder so as to avoid confusion.
Hi, I just wanted to correct an oversight in the Fed. Ship Chart (v4.8). For the Heavy Cruiser section, Its icons show that it only has 2 rear weapon slots, when there are actually 3 in-game. When you find time for the next version (4.9), then please make the correction (for accuracy). Thanks.
Haha I have no idea why that particular layer was hidden. Oh well, guess that's what happens when you have 10,000 layers. Thanks for the head's up!!! Corrected on v4.9
Originally, I did want to do a Star Chart, but quickly saw this to be moot, since there are other people doing maps out there (not to mention there's one within the game, itself.) The reason I created the Ship Chart was that I saw a need to have something like this... A way to compare different ships and plan out your BOF / ship progression as you go through the game. I used Suri's back in the day and since he no longer updated his, I decided to create one myself and keep it as up-to-date as possible. It seemed so easy: take some pics of some ships. At the time, I didn't realize what a monumental task that was.
Something that occurred to me that hadn't before is that people that create guides / charts / podcasts devote lots of time to developing the content. It cuts into their RL & Playtime. I watched my friends level past me, all the while using my ship chart. LOL irony.
absolutely LOVE this chart..
kinda like the way the special ships were separated before.
and the heavy cruiser has 3 fore and 3 aft weapons...
also something as to how we upgrade the tier 5 excelsior to what is shown would be awesome...
noticed you colored the weapon types.. nice touch. and the weapon arch also.
ever thought of doing some other charts like consoles, weps, engines/shields, toon abilities, BO abilities, ship type optimizing layouts, things like that??
granted the weps are basicly integrated into the ship tier chart already..
and again.. love this chart use it all the time...
Not sure what you mean about the "something as to how we upgrade to tier 5 excelsior to what is shown". Can you elaborate a bit?
As stated above, time is a commodity. I would love to create something for consoles / engines / shields, and include it on the Ship Charts (as a kinda 'everything that has to do with ships' resource)... but it would take a bit of time to do that and I'm not sure I could squeeze it in... yet. Maybe in the future. Especially since the sets are going to be modifying the way your ship looks. But then what do I do? Equip every ship with the Borg sets and take angled shots of them? I'd be replicating the chart for every modification set. I'll be thinking about what to add that will benefit players and show them what they can get... Maybe just a row or something. Not sure.

I get PMs and posts every now and again in my Ship Power Calc thread that request this, that, or the other. I know what you mean about the amount of time it takes to make these little aids. Not trying to brag or nothing, just saying even doing that little bit I can see how much time it takes to create.
Point is, don't get down on it. You're doing great, and you're work is VERY appreciated and admired!
Version 5.0 (Federation) is looking good but i did notice something: there's a 137,000 energy credits line kinda embedded just underneath the impulse modifier; turn rate; and inertia values of the Long Range Science Vessel (Retrofit)

Good eyes & good catches, guys! I probably inadvertently copied the 137,000 text from the Nebula... I'll fix the errors when I get home. Thx for the head's up!
Many thanks for the new v5.0 Fed Ship Chart. It's very informative, especially for the advantages/disadvantages of the escorts vs. cruisers vs. science vessels. Keep up the great work!
I just wanted to help out a bit to improve the accuracy of some the information. I hope you don't mind too much.
1.) Regarding the Equipable (sic) Weapon Types.
a. The correct spelling should be "Equippable" (2 Ps) -> http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/equippable
b. For Cruiser types, it IS possible to equip cannons (Just the plain cannons. The dual and dual heavy cannons definitely cannot be equipped). I use an engineer-class character, and have been able to equip cannons on my cruisers (Excalibur and Stargazer classes so far).
2.) For the Weapon Firing Arcs diagram. The horizontal arc of the Dual Heavy Cannons (top weapon arc diagram) should also be 45 deg., instead of 90 deg. as shown. This was just probably an oversight, though. However, I just needed to mention it here too for accuracy.
I'll provide more updates as I continue playing the game and find any inconsistencies. Thanks again for the great work and attention to detail. It's appreciated. ^_^

Hey there! Glad I checked the thread before starting to work on the chart. I definitely don't mind criticism, especially when it's not done in a condescending and negative way. Positive critiquing is the way we make things better!
a) I honestly can't find the entry you're URL is pointing to... Keeps saying: The word you've entered isn't in the dictionary. Click on a spelling suggestion below or try again using the search bar above. I did a few searches on various sites (dictionary.com & such)... I can't seem to find the correct spelling. Word doesn't recognize either... I'll go ahead and put the two P spelling, since it seems like that's what's generally used on other Wikis.
b) Good to know! Added Cannon icon & txt to Cruisers.... Also I need to figure out where to add Dual Cannons to the Dreadnought, but I'll do that laters.
.
Got it. Yep. Oversight. Had to do some rearranging, but hopefully everything's hunky-dory now.
Just wanted to jump in and say thanks again for the charts. I used the KDF one today for the first time when getting my Orion Tac Officer's new Commander ship. I wasn't sure which I wanted. Ended up sticking with the BoP, but your chart helped me decide.
great as usual but now i'm embarassed that i missed something that i didn't put in my last post . The T5 Advanced Research Science Vessel (Retrofit) should have that yellow C-Store backdrop as well, since it's in the C-Store as well (sorry that I missed that).
Okay guys, I've created a Graphical Federation Ship Tier Chart and a Graphical Klingon Defense Force Ship Tier Chart. The inspiration came from Suricata's original blueprint / vector-style ship chart (and I've credited him on these charts for that reason). The main difference is that instead of one side profile shot of the ship, these are screenshots of each angle of each vessel. The C-store ships and Vice Admiral retrofit ships have been included. Combined, these charts display every playable ship in the game. I'll be working to keep the charts up-to-date, and will add more info as the need arises.
Coming Soon:
KDF: Gorn KDF ship
KDF: Nausican KDF ship
KDF: Orion KDF ship
FED: Enterprise NX In Development from Cryptic: Note: these ships will be added to the chart, only once they are confirmed
FED: TOS Enterprise Refit
FED: Enterprise J (may be a cross between Ent E & Ent J) Known Issues:
FED: Gotta add Dual Cannon Weapon icon for Dreadnought Cruiser... somewhere.
FED & KDF: Weapon sections revamp - I'm going to be working on completely overhauling these sections and the information they contain.
KDF: Carriers missing Hanger info - Counting on you guys to provide that info (since I'm a lowly Lt. Cmd :P)
KDF: Negh'Var Battle Cruiser Front picture missing - working on getting a screenshot
KDF: Alternate T3 Cruiser pics missing - these were just provided to me (thx Cpt.William2) - I'll start working on integrating these in the near future
FED: Prices for 'ship tier skins' have not yet been added - still trying to figure out where to put them
Just so that everyone knows, I'm still working on finishing up the KDF chart; I thought I would go ahead and post it to start getting feedback on anything you guys see wrong / needs to be changed. I view the KDF chart currently as a 'work-in-progress' or a 'beta' version, if you will. I'm still working on it, and will be adding the 'non-Klingon' race ships, once they go live. Once again, I'd like to thank everyone for there continued support. I have enjoyed hearing the feedback & appreciate your kudos!!!
UPDATE LOG:
FED v5.1 - Corrected stats & BOFs (again ) on T3 Nebula & T5.3 Nebula/Magellan | Corrected various spelling mistakes | Removed duplicated 'floating price text' | Added Cannon icon & txt to FED CRUISERS class row | Corrected Pips on T3 Excelsior | Moved Excelsior Title & Nebula Title to center | Corrected Weapon Firing arc for Dual Hvy Cannons & rearranged indicators.

This was needed since some people didn't know you could swap parts from the Nebula & Magellan as well as the Excelsior & Excelsior Retofit ***Which is how it's listed in-game... Personally I think they should have named the retroclass the Lakota. Maybe this is an oversight / bug.***
FED v4.9 - Fixed Heavy Cruiser Wep stats | Added teaser for Ent NX01 | Replaced all 3/4 shots of Long Range Sci Vessels | Added Rear shots of LRSV with Variable Geometry Pylons positioned in 'Warp mode' | Added descriptor text for LRSV pylons & optional text for DSSV Secondary Array and RSV Mission Pod
FED v4.8 - Added Class names and impulse modifier stats to Nebula & Magellan
FED v4.7 - Added Added Adv. RSV: Nebula (T3.2) & Adv. RSV Retrofit: Magellan (T5.3) Corrected consoles on both (missing impulse modifier & class name - oops) | Created new LCARs Right chart border | Added new energy weapon section | Added new Weapon arc section
FED v4.6 - Major Update - Resized the entire chart to accommodate addition of two columns for the new ships. Extended T3 & T5 LCARs column headings, added 3d effect to top and side LCARs panels, Moved Starter/Light Cruiser section to the left & added LCARs separator, Added Nebula T3.2 stats & Nebula T5.3 stats based on DStahl's post, changed BO to Universal for Runabout, corrected Nomad and Nimbus (Tier 5.2) poke through issue, changed name of file (since date & version number are already present on the image) - make sure you refresh your cached picture, if the version doesn't match the above link.
KDF v2.9 - Changed Type1/Type2 names for T5 ships to actual ship names, Made following corrections: Qin 3xENG / Neg'var 3xTAC / Vo'Quv 4xSCI / Hegh'ta 3xENG 3xSCI / Kar'Fi 34500 Hull (thx evilhippo), modified nebula / sector bkg

KDF v2.5 - Added all T3 ships, changed T3 wep/hull icons to appropriate ships
KDF v2.4 - Swapped T4 Raptor & BOP stats, corrected title on BOP (thx Fractal_Eye), corrected all weps on T4 stats.
FED v4.3 - Added Universal bridge officer to Icon Guide for future ships, corrected BOs Dreadnought Cruiser - thx mccsjas
FED v4.2 - Removed 'washed out' look from background - it was mistakenly set to the wrong contrast in v4.1. Added nebula effects for corners. Filled in remaining blank LCARS behind category headers and added black border for viability around header text. Advanced Escort category header fixed - thx ainu // Star Cruiser Bridge Officers corrected. - thx yoda4016.
FED v4.1 - Moved the Adv Hvy Cruiser Retro to proper tier (RA/UA) - thx Victory275. Corrected bridge officer for Recon Science Vessels - thx ryfallon. Moved Nebula over to vacant space... it's just a teaser for now anyway.
FED v4.0 - Major Update: Recreated entire LCARS theme, all Console slots, all BOFs, and all Text. (Had to do this to make every tier modular and all text dynamic - for future updates & KDF chart compatibility.) Added per rank / tier LCARS column separators, Removed 2d background grid, Added new 3d sectorspace-like nebula background. Added Device Slot icon counts, Hull numbers within ship silhouette, and Crew graphic with amount for every ship. Added new indicators on Icon Guide. Renamed all Retrofit titles & added class groupings. Added Celestial Retrofit. Corrected certain spelling mistakes. Recreated STO logo and credits box, added date next to version number... um yea, so basically, I redid the entire chart.
I propose that this work be used on the STO website. It is horendous how their is no real up to date website and non existant web team. Rather cryptic takes months sometimes to update the website.

Actually, I left it blue on purpose. If you'll notice, all the yellow 'C-store' items are items only exclusively obtainable through the C-Store. For instance, the Long Range Science Vessel Retro is available with a FREE ship token OR 1200 Cryptic Points OR with 500 Emblems, so I put normal backgrounds on them. The Dreadnought Cruiser is only available through the C-store, so it's yellow. As are the extra classes per rank (or ship 'skins'), like the NOMAD. The Adv Hvy Cruiser Retrofit are only purchasable via Cryptic Points. But the Adv RESEARCH Sci Vessel Retrofit isn't exclusive to the C-store: you can buy it for 200 Marks of Exploration; or you can unlock it with Cryptic Points.
All this being said, I had to review the chart closely when making this post... and I DO see how it can be a little confusing. I may simply make the Yellow background icon in the legend say "C-Store Exclusive". I could even put another color saying "Unlockable via C-Store or through gameplay" (but that sounds a little cheesy.) What do you guys think?

If Cryptic wanted to put it on their site, I'd totally be down with it. Too bad I couldn't get paid to do this, since I'm doing it for free now anyway OR wouldn't it be cool to get a title "Ship Chartographer" or something  hahaha
I've actually had a few people ask this. The problem becomes when doing any type of reference chart or whatnot to a 'live' game like an MMO, the data can change, then you'd be stuck with an inaccurate poster. Imagine if you printed out one of the first ones I did, back in v2.0 or something? You wouldn't have the VA T6 Retrofits, the extra column of T3 ships, or the new T5 Retros. Besides... posters are soooo 90's. Make a viswall!
EDIT: I just noticed this was the 200th post here (20 of which are probably from me - lol ). Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I appreciate everyone's help on making these as accurate as possible. I'm proud to have been welcomed into the community and I'm really glad everyone finds these useful. If you've followed this thread, you see I'm definitely appreciative for all the support. Thx fellow Trekkers.

Just to note the Dreadnought Cruiser is not a C-store only unlock. Originally the only way for you to get it was to refer either 4 or 5 friends through the referral program and thats where all the nonsense came from that got it put onto the C-store.
I think the lease confusing way to do it is color everything obtainable by the C-store in yellow, then color the alternative requirements for getting the item in game something that jumps out at you.
hey spidermitch, i recently ran into a good load of data for your charts, starting off below:
maybe you could put the icon for dual cannons below the dreadnought cruiser? along with the other weapons it can equip?
i noticed that on the Fed weapons firing arc section, on the upper ship graphic, the torpedo launcher lines up with the plain cannon's 180 firing arc, when it should be 90 firing arc. when you next get to it, maybe you can place the torpedo launcher across from dual beam banks, and under the dual heavy cannons?
recent events have changed a few things. for one, the total hull strength has been increased for the Deep Space Science Vessel and the Negh'Var Battle Cruiser (+3,000 for both). for the other, the Vor'Cha class now has a costume variant for it (available in the c-store)
i also found some of those hanger stats you wanted see below:
the Vo'Quv Carrier has 2 hanger bays (port and starboard), and can support the following in each bay (but only one choice per hanger bay):
Klingon Fighters, 3 launched every 30 secs, for a max of 12 per launch bay
Klingon Bird-of-Preys, 1 launched every 45 secs, for a max of 3 per launch bay
Klingon Shield Drones, 2 launched every 45 secs, for a max of 6 per launch bay (self and friendly targetable)
Klingon Syphons, 3 launched every 45 sces, for a max of 9 per launch bay
in addition, i found that the Kar'Fi Carrier has 1 hanger bay (not sure where...), and can support the following in it's bay (same rule for the Vo'Quv Carrier):
Fek'Ihri Fighters, 4 launched every 30 secs, for a max of 12
Fek'Ihri Frigates, 1 launched every 45 secs, for a max of 3
and this general info about the launched ships, if you need it: attack ships require an enemy ship within 15 km, and when the enemy is destroyed, they attack the current targeted ship or land inside if there are no more enemies
support ships require a friend within 15 km, and will follow their target and support it. if the supported ship is destroyed, the supporting ships will return to the carrier
i hope i didn't miss anything, but then again i did give a lot of info for you good luck with the charts!
I knew where you could get them printed as poster in Germany (and Europe in general). I am sure there are companies that provide such service in North America, too.
needs the new klingon vor'cha variant for the chart.
great work by the way.
I've tried to find out if the Vor'cha variant (Tor'Kaht) has any different stats than the Vor'cha... After searching the forums, I'm still not sure and since I'm not up there yet, I have no way to verify.
The new skin can be used on the T4 Vorcha or on the new T5 Vorcha Refit. The T5 Vorcha is basically a Soverign in terms of BO slots and weapons, but I'd have to check in-game for the exact stats.
I've tried to find out if the Vor'cha variant (Tor'Kaht) has any different stats than the Vor'cha... After searching the forums, I'm still not sure and since I'm not up there yet, I have no way to verify.
What are the stats of the Tor'Kaht?
The variant is just a new costume, like the Imperial or the Maelstrom on the Fed side.
The Vor'cha retrofit has tier-5 stats. Think Assault Cruiser with less hull and more maneuverability, cannons and cloak.
The Tor'Kaht costume can be used for both the tier 4 Vor'cha and the tier 5 Vor'cha retrofit.
Edit: IIRC, 36.000 Hull. Definitely the same maneuverability as the Vor'Cha at tier 4. Same BO slots and console slots as the Sovereign.

What does the ship chart have to do with a star chart?
Look at STOWiki for a star chart or maybe do one yourself? Hmmmm?
Only making a suggestion! The guy seems good at this and Suricata did both. Some people around here need to be more civil.

Fek'Ihri Fighters, 4 launched every 30 secs, for a max of 12
Fek'Ihri Frigates, 1 launched every 45 secs, for a max of 3
and this general info about the launched ships, if you need it: attack ships require an enemy ship within 15 km, and when the enemy is destroyed, they attack the current targeted ship or land inside if there are no more enemies
support ships require a friend within 15 km, and will follow their target and support it. if the supported ship is destroyed, the supporting ships will return to the carrier
i hope i didn't miss anything, but then again i did give a lot of info for you good luck with the charts!
great work by the way.
I've tried to find out if the Vor'cha variant (Tor'Kaht) has any different stats than the Vor'cha... After searching the forums, I'm still not sure and since I'm not up there yet, I have no way to verify.
What are the stats of the Tor'Kaht?
The Vor'cha retrofit has tier-5 stats. Think Assault Cruiser with less hull and more maneuverability, cannons and cloak.
The Tor'Kaht costume can be used for both the tier 4 Vor'cha and the tier 5 Vor'cha retrofit.
Edit: IIRC, 36.000 Hull. Definitely the same maneuverability as the Vor'Cha at tier 4. Same BO slots and console slots as the Sovereign.
