STO Graphical Ship Chart by SpiderMitch

Hey guys, your friendly, neighborhood SpiderMitch here! What started out as a simple concept: create a shipchart that showed 'multiple angles of each ship & the stats of those ships' has become a major project. I've been developing these charts since June of 2010, and was urged to post it on the forums from some friends around August of 2010. The reaction I got was phenomenal, and as the game continues to grow, so has the attention to my 'little graphical shipchart'. Members of the community have helped me in keeping these things up-to-date and accurate, and it's to that community which I gladly share my little contribution to STO. Please feel free to use this forum to leave any feedback, kudos, or corrections...

  • Future FED chart changes:
    • Change angles on Exploration & Assault Cruisers to match the rest of the chart
  • Most recent FED Chart Changes
    • FED v8.1.5 - v8.1.6 (6/17/12):
      • Added device slot count on the Adv Odyssey Just stuck it at the top for lack of better placing LOL :rolleyes:
      • Corrected prices of Lieutenant Commander FED ships, it is 15 000 dilithium, not 40k (thx Toiva)
      • Resized entire chart to accomidate for new VA tier column
      • Added Heavy Escort Carrier section with stats
      • Added new Shield UI HUD element and stat for Oddy, Atrox and Armitage
    • FED v8.1.3 - v8.1.4 (5/5/12):
      • Recreated Advanced Odyssey Cruiser section: moved Subclasses to the right, Broke apart all consoles, Changed color of console backdrops, & grouped with Subclasses
      • Add the Caitian Atrox Carrier LCARsish section & stats
      • Correct positions of some of the class lines
      • Correct Star Cruiser impulse stat (15)
      • Correct Tactical Escort - Retrofit impulse stat (20)
    • FED v8.1.2 (4/16/12):
      • Removed all Shuttles / Fighters (they are now on the SS Ship Chart - see below)
      • Replaced Odyssey pics (2nd year anniversary giveaway) with Odyssey Advanced Cruiser (c-store ship) pics
      • Modified Odyssey subclass config sections
    • FED v8.1.1 (3/29/12):
      • Added Subclass information to Odyssey Advanced Cruiser & Stat changes.
    • FED v8.1.0 (2/27/12):
      • Added Yellowstone section, stats, angles
      • Moved and corrected some stuff on Shuttlecraft row
    • FED v8.0.8 - v8.0.9 (2/20/12):

    While that file is HUGE, it's also totally awesome.

    Now you just need to do the same thing with the Klingons, and you'll be a hero to any forum-goer with sufficient bandwidth to enjoy the charts :D

    Nice work, but you really should give credit to the person whose original image you modified. It's only polite.

    Kudos to you.
    The only things I saw where the pips for the retrofits ( vice admiral not rear upper half) and
    that Mobile Device Launcher is called TricobAlt and not TricobOlt. ;)

    Awesome!

    Nice compromise to Suri´s "hand" drawn vector gfx.
    Keeping this updated should be much easier.
    BTW, you might consider splitting it into three separate pics (escort, cruiser, science) to keep the file size more manageable .

    for the to do list:
    Galaxy Class and Celestial are outdated,
    Celestial looks completely diffrent now
    the galaxy class has a lot more detail, your pic still has the old saucer section.

    Will have to correct this in a future version. Really want to get the fundamentals down first, like the missing Imperial angles. Thanks for the suggestion!

    That's incredible! You have really outdone yourself.

    Once completed I would submit it to the devs for use somewhere on the sight. The ship section as it is now is a mess and this would be much better.

    Do you plan on doing one for KDF ships?

    Spidermitch... that is the most awesomest things I think I have ever seen in my life. You deserve MUCHO credit. Wow, nice work. One comment - the Quasar science ship is "off" and I would normally say "eh, big deal" but the rest of the chart is so spot on perfect the last Quasar shot should be redone to look like the other science vessel shots (minor thing, there are a few different angles on all the various ships, but that one stood out for me for some reason).

    Wow, I never would have thought anything might have outdone Suri's work but actual views of the ships makes such a big difference. Great work Spidermitch.

    Nice work but may want to do something about the file size. Your thing is at 8 megs and I was able to get it down to 2 without any kind of quality hit. So not sure what your using but it's a bit bloated on the file size it has on your saving it.

    File size has been reduced to 3.6mb on version 2.1... When reduced down to 2mb, I did notice slight artifacts and much more jaggies on the edges of the ships, so I think approx 3-4mb isn't an unmanageable size, and a pretty decent compromise (it's better than the 8 that it was :eek:).

    What I downloaded from the first page gave me a 8 meg file.

    And what program are you using on the sizing. Taking that 8 meg file into Photoshop and resaving it at quality 8 which is still considered high, it put it to 2.2 megs.

    Actually looked at my download history. It was 2.0 and now see 2.1 is smaller. Maybe got an old copy about 1.5 hours ago.

    Nicely built on Suricata's original design.

    File size was fine on the new version. Make a wicked poster!

    Yeah, the file size is better. I used the link in a quote not paying attention to the 2.1 not 2.0 part. So got the 2.1 from his actual post and not any quotes.

    Quotes failed me. lol

    Well, it's kinda my fault for leaving all the old versions up there. I've removed all versions but the current one now. Also made a 404 page show up so that if it's an older link or a quoted link you'll just be redirected to my main page... I'll keep this thread up-to-date with the most current chart, from my first post. That link will always be current.

    Either way, thanks for helping me iron out some of these 'technical difficulties' :D

    ...deleting all the old versions killed the link i posted on another forum. :eek:

    if you want to constantly update the picture, don't change the filename just overwrite the old one. Or leave the old files, or set up a redirect on them. Something that doesnt break links~
