Compensation

I know that for many, this topic is old and finished (in which case, they are free to ignore this thread), and I have tried to do this through contact with Cryptic, but unfortunately, they have no customer support and do not respond to any of my messages. And according to one of the Devs, this is where I should put it. I believe that like the RAF, those who got their exclusives put on the C-Store should get compensation.

My basic outline is this:
    1000 CP
per box AFTER initial box (+500 if LTS)
per DDE buyer. (stacks if an EXTRA box)
per Pre-Order. (stacks if EXTRA box)
3000 CP per CE buyer. (stacks if EXTRA box)
2000 CP per LTS (only pre-order)

My explanation for 2000 CP per pre-order LTS is simply that the loss of the Liberated Borg to all LTS subscribers as well as the ability to buy extra character slots in C-Store, means a loss of investment. I say this because had I not pre-ordered, I would never have bought this game.
This seems to be pretty fair. Not only does it reward loyalty, but it guarantees continued support. With, at my last calculation, almost $135 worth of C-Store content, this is an investment. It continues loyalty, so in the future when expansions come out or more C-Store additions we have a reason to want to continue giving money in support of the game.

I believe this is a very good way to reward loyalty and to make a lot of people very happy. To be honest what really irritates me is the fact that while the company seems willing to compensate RAF players, it refuse everyone else. To me, this is unfair.

I would love to hear everyone else's thoughts and ideas but please, don't flame or troll or bash, keep it clean and keep it civil!

Your right, it has been discussed at length before and it my opinion that there will be no compensation, simply because they had done it already if they wanted to.

Yes, you are correct, it has been discussed to death. Ashur is also correct, there will be no compensation. Nor should there be.

it's not Cryptic's fault that you bought everything when it was exclusive...nothing stays exclusive forever and it's their IP so they can make money off of it however they want.

From now on, just remember two little words that will take you a long way in our society: CAVEAT EMPTOR.

Means: Buyer Beware, and it's the law of the land in the U.S

I hope this time i evaded your troll labeling. I was polite and offered my opinion. I even refrained from saying a compensation is undeserved. :D

I bought all of the 'exclusives' you mentioned, and feel I am owed no compensation from Cryptic.

I understood fully - at the time I purchased those pre-order items - that their 'exclusive' nature was limited to the ability to have early access to them. I'm sorry that others did not comprehend this.

I do not have a problem with Pre-Order items placed in the C-Store. I look at it as, hey I got the item for free with purchse while everyone else has to pay for it.

MY BEEF is with the fact that not all PRE-ORDER items were placed in the C-Store.

    1) Automated Defense Turrent
    2) Redmatter Capacitor
    3) TR-116 Carbine
    4)...Cant recall off hand....BO I think....

Anyway, I think it is only fair that if you place SOME Pre-Order items in the C-Store, YOU HAVE TO PLACE THEM ALL!

Did I miss something or can you buy the Liberated Borg Captain in the C-Store? If I can tell me so I can go do it! If you mean the BOFF that wasn't a LTS perk... it was an Amazon.com exclusive... as for the exclusives I look at it like this.

-I liked the look of the game and preordered, as a reward depending on the retailer I picked I got a neat item for no additional cost. That people can obtain this item AT ADDITIONAL cost doesn't matter to me.

For LTS same thing you got the LTS (which is a major savings if you play past the point of cost equivilance), and some added perks for no additional cost. Stop being greedy please =) "compensation" for LTS or preorders or open beta people is silly and should be dropped. I want the Devs and heads at Cryptic to focus on new in game content and in game obtainables. I think I can safely say most people want the same.

I'm not being greedy, compensation for a loss of exclusive, the Lib Borg which is now available to everyone who buys a LTS, which was part of the reason I got an LTS.

"I want the Devs and heads at Cryptic to focus on new in game content and in game obtainables. I think I can safely say most people want the same."

What does that have to do with this talk? This is about them assigning C-Store points, not content.

When did you lose your exclusive lib Borg? Did they delete it from your account?

Deciding who gets how much for what takes time away from teams that could be spent on other more productive areas.

So you're upset that a LTS exclusive is exclusive to all LTS people..... seriously it shouldn't concern you so much. If I remember correctly the real bonus for getting it at its first offering is it was MUCH cheaper then than it is now. And if not, why is it a big deal? It's still an exclusive to LTS people... really 2000 Cryptic Points because the first month of LTS people aren't the ONLY LTS people with Liberated Borg Captains is ridiculous.

But I don't see any point in responding again because I don't think you can be convinced asking this amount is silly, and that a lot of people don't care, or think the opposite.

ADDENDUM: All LTS people getting Liberated Borg also has no direct effect on that you got a Liberated Borg, unless you just really really want to go around and yell in ESD "Look what I have that no one can get anymore at all."

No, they din't lose there Galaxy-X's, yet they recieved $50 worth of "compensation" for the loss of a $25 exclusive, never mind the Holo Boff, the $25 CP, and special tribble they already got.

Maybe not 2000 CP, but some points, and to be honest in a few months it'll probably be up on the C-Store anyway. To be honest, were you howling up a storm when Galaxy-X people got compensation, that they should have been focusing more on the game?

Because the LTS was part of a package deal, not requiring actual action on your part to recruit people to the game.

Until such time as they have actually taken something from you, which you freely admit they have not, you have no reason to request compensation, I'm afraid.

To be honest i never understood the difference between:

OMG, people were crazy enough to buy 5 copies of the game to get the galaxy-x, let´s give them a compensation !

    And

OMG, people were crazy enough to buy 5 copies of the game to get bonus items, let´s give them a compensation !

    Or

OMG, people were crazy enough to buy a LFT sub for a game they don´t want to play to get a uniform for another game, let´s give them a compensation

Seems all the same to me. Either all of those people get compensation or none of them.

So what you are saying is when one group of people loses there exclusive, they should be compensated, when another loses their exclusive, they deserve nothing?

I totally agree, compensating one while not compensating the others is wrong.

UM...Because the LTS cost $280 USD. A monthly subscirption cost $15 a month.

Now if you take the 280 and divide it by 15...you get 18.66 OR 19

    280 / 15 = 19

So after 19 months of Game play...you play for FREE. That is the benefit of the LTS. Everything else was just extra icing.

I'm saying nobody lost their exclusives, as they still have them, and therefore they have no reason to request any compensation.

You freely admit you have lost nothing. What do you need compensation for then?

As for the Gal-X, many of those people were expected to wait until their 5 recruits had gotten through 30 days and resubbed. Since the promotion had barely run a month, that meant others would be able to obtain the item before those that had recruited, even though they had already earned it through work already. Thus, Cryptic compensated them so that they could have it immediately.

BECAUSE the demand for the Galaxy X was too great for Crytpic to miss the opportunity to place it in the C-Store. RAF did not lose anything, in fact, they made out for the better. They recieved an EXTRA 2000 CP or $25.
