It seems you dont understand what an IN GAME poll is, so let me explain it to you: its a poll that you can vote on IN GAME, not on the forums. If you think their the same thing, just look how many people voted on the last poll: 11k. There are supposedly "well over 100k" people who play STO, so just linking to a forum poll on the launcher obviously doesnt catch many folks attention.

Or, maybe the majority of the playerbase is content letting Cryptic run their own business, and doesn't feel the need that some on the forums do to try and run it for them?

Really? All that time and that was your reply? But since thats all you were able to come up with, I'll respond. There is an obvious difference between feeling the need to come on the forums and tell Cryptic what their doing wrong and voting in a poll you are asked by Cryptic to vote in. Be serious

Sorry, I was at work, working, not making it a priority to respond to you. I'll see about adjusting my schedule so i can respond to you as fast as you'd like

Cryptic has already asked the entire player base to take a survey, the one they awarded Cryptic points for taking. Obviously not everyone participated. Believe it or not, some people just want to log in, play, and have fun. They don't do the surveys/polls, and have no interest in trying to tell the game designer how to design the game.

Dont worry, it wasnt the time that it took that I was really commenting on, but the lameness of the argument.

I'm not even sure if you remember what we're discussing anymore, because you seem to have gone off on some kind of tangent about people not wanting to tell Cryptic how to design the game. But to remind you of what we were actually discussing, you trying to find something wrong with the wording of one of my earlier posts, but failing because you didnt actually understand what I wrote.

And you seem to be failing to grasp that the majority of the player base doesn't want their game play interrupted, to tell the dev teams how to do their jobs. If Cryptic puts things in game, it will annoy people. The launcher links are adequate for getting things to the entire player base's attention. So, you claiming that your poll, on a third party site, that is easily spoofable to manipulate results, is valid, simply because Cryptic only does launcher based polls and doesn't actually interfere with their player bases' play time, is... still wrong.

edit: and here's advance warning... it's Mother's Day, I'll be spending the day with the wife and kids, so expect a long delay in reply to anything you're going to post.:D

Exaggerate much? An in game poll wouldnt "interrupt" anyone's gameplay. I never said it should block their screen or keep them from playing until they vote; it could be attached to the drop down menu for that matter. And when the Devs ASK you for your feedback, thats not "telling them how to do their jobs", its letting them know what their customers want so they can design the product to please the most people. Please, for the sake of anyone reading this thread, come up with a better argument in your next reply.

Feel free to cast your vote for that option. Just dont let the fact that you are in the minority upset you.

of course the people that are getting it are the minority and all the others instead of working for what they want come here and whine if they put half that effort into recruiting they would have the 5 by now

Galaxy X and all the other stuff should be in the game from launch or added as we go for free. STO needs a ton load more content , ive just given up ingame , the place was so deserted and NOTHING to do , nows the time i hang my boots up and give it a rest for a few months i cant keep hanging on and supporting this shallow game , ill be back in a few months.

If they earn it as an achievement/accolade then they have worked for it.

Making it avail in-game as an award for a chain of missions and so forth does not mean anyone got it for free.
If people have put the time into the game or put the money together to buy it, then they deserve it.

With all the things avail in game to people as it is, we still do not see everyone flying the same ships or using the same gear.
So saying that everyone will have it and that the game will be flooded with them is not nec accurate.
Some may not even put forth the effort to get it in the game no matter how accessible it is.

It is the principle of the matter, people should not have to make it a second job on top of everything else to achieve some of these things.
There should be other ways to get iconic items besides having to go out and spam people into buying the game.

I have no real issue with RAF programs, but I do have an opinion on what is being dangled in front of people as a reward and what all is involved in getting it.
It seems a bit on the steep side.

If it was for one or two people that might not be so bad and lower some of the other reqs, but 5?
It may not be a lot of work for some, but for others, that could turn into a 2nd job in and of itself.

They could use some other item less controversial.
Sell it in game for a decent sum.
Allow people to earn it in game.
    Make it a vet reward.
Maybe even leave it as an RAF item, but make it also obtainable through a string of achievements in game.

If your curious about the captains table and how I feel about that being exclusive, I think it should be avail to everyone also.
Star Trek should be about the players and the fans, not who has the most friends or who has the biggest wallet.

I want to see this game do well, I want to see tons of people playing it.
It is awsome to see people enjoying Trek, so I have no problem with them coming up with things to get people involved, just wished they would pick less controversial ways to do it lol.

making an award for missions or whatever else is not working for it it is playing the game for it. How does that put any money in cryptics pocket which is the whole point of the RAF The rest of us went out and got our 5 subs as required either you're willing to do what it takes or your not everything else is just whining i can't have it

I see... so under your concept earning things ingame must be done OUT of game and earn Cryptic money...

    pay to play new races,
    pay to buy ship skins
pay to get new ship classes

    Mmm... pay to level,
    pay to get new missions
pay just to login, eh ?

Oh wait we already do that via subscriptions. Oh right, apparantly paying a subscription dosent earn Cryptic money or considered good enough.

So... shall we just drop the pretense of this being a game thats meant to be balance for ALL players with equal accesscontent with and go with the he-who-pays-gets-the-best-content ?

Whats next, pay $1000 and get the Relativity ?

How is it fair that people have to do OUT of game things to gain INGAME advantages ?

No matter how hard you play this game all that C-Store stuff, Pre-Order stuff will never be yours - however, they all have a short lifetime in early game.

Oh, but here we have the Galaxy-X complete with custom cannon, and a cloak. Neither function can be gotten ANY other way via this game thus presenting a clear advantage to those who do OUT of game recruiting and earn Cryptic money.

Apparantly... Cryptic dont consider people paying their subscriptions reason to give EVERYONE access to content they add. Additionally, you support the concept that ingame progress should be achieved via PAYING for it out of game.

You dont go outside much do yah ;)

The world everyone lives in isnt starfleet...there is no starfleet...i know you wish the world would be full of peace and there would be no upper class nor middle class just one class..i get yah...but its not ok.

I know this is an old comment, but... it reminded me so much of a couple of lines from one of my favorite non-Star Trek movies... Contact:

David Drumlin: I know you must think this is all very unfair. Maybe that's an understatement. What you don't know is I agree. I wish the world was a place where fair was the bottom line, where the kind of idealism you showed at the hearing was rewarded, not taken advantage of. Unfortunately, we don't live in that world.

Ellie Arroway: Funny, I've always believed that the world is what we make of it.

If people want a better world... do what you can to make it better. If you want the status quo... being slanted and a bit 'unfair' .. then say and do nothing... you already have what you want.

We're asked to provide feedback constantly on things we like, dislike, want to see changed etc but any time something like this comes along and you provide feedback you get shouted down as a "whiner" or not willing to do what's necessary / make the effort. Not everyone is equally able but still, that isn't the point. Providing feedback as requested earns you nothing positive and you get labelled and scorned for it.
