Well.. i was thinking to myself with all the Keep the Galaxy not posts I thought it was time for something abit more realistic. Keep it exclusive Cryptic, its a great idea, I love it. All ready have my buddys in on this and there ready to go and try the game out. Im sure there are many many others out there like me that were able to find 5 people they know and get them to try your game. Here here for the exclusive item you have put into the mix, cant wait to fly it around with everyone else who managed to get one.

I hope to see more things like this in the future, that are Exclusive. Love yah Cryptic *hugs and kisses from all your fans* <3

    I disagree.

I like many other players in our community do not have many friends who either don't have this game or just don't have any intrest in playing STO period. In my case there's only 3 eople at best willing to shell out cash to play this game. With that said there would be no sensible way for me to scrounge up 2 more people just for the X class. To ask me to practically bug random people would not be the best move.

However, if the becomes a thread for peole playing the Demo I wouln't mind passing out refferal codes like others already do in the CO forums.

Well then...here is what I suggest you do :)

    Get up..

Go down to the local comic shop and if yah have to Bar/Club, start making some friends. You know be social. And then talk to them about the game, and see if they would try it and bam...Iam sure youll get someone to try it...again its effort. If yah want the item youll go and try to get it.

Heck when I heard of this promotion the next day I went to my boss's office talked to him for like a half hour hehehe *slaps hand* and told him about the game and what not and hes like sure ill give it a shot, same thing with my friends. And i did try to get my other friends involved before launch, 2 of them did try it out just didnt keep with the game, though they will play soon when there done schooling :P

All of my friends and family members were already playing three weeks after the game launched. There's no one left for me to ask. So what the **** am I supposed to do? Go to the airport and recruit players like the Hari Krishnas? Go door to door like the Mormons? Yeah, **** that!

    :(

Alot of my friends have read the "reviews" of STO and are avoiding it like an TRIBBLE:eek:
IDK in time when (if) game improves they might be persuaded but not a chance right now.

Nice suggestion, however there is a bit of a problem with the comic shop thing. All of the comic book shops in my area have closed down due to lack of interest. Also the whole Bar/Club thing won't work since the only people who go to those places are only interested in two things: getting laid and getting drunk just not in the exact order mind you.

Thankfully I will be moving from my current place to a new one in a few years so with any luck the East coast will be more receptive of the Gamer/Comic enthusiast since the area out here in California tend to be more about Madden and Gears of War than a good game like Assassin's Creed or Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Or to put it in a less snobby way these guys in my area wouldn't know a good game if it slapped them with a ten pound fish.

My point is I already did this. I recruited 8 friends, family members and associates to this game and I got nothing for it. But now that this system has been released I have to recruit more. I did the leg work already. If Cryptic can't figure out a way to acknowledge recruiting that was done before the system was implemented they should not be tying in game rewards to it.

Besides it goes directly against Cryptic's promise that they would never do so again after the fiasco with the CoH Valentine' Day recruitment of 2005.

Wow Iam surprised especially you being on the West Coast like me. I have 2 little comic shops in my little town of under 10000 :P and then Iam only like 45 min away north and south to two major cities :p

I know some people wont be able to for realistic reasons, but I mean you cant hate them for putting an item to bring in more people. Again it sucks but never the less..these type of promotions always happen. I know when playing WoW, I didnt get one of those little password creators...not sure what you call them but they give a special ingame object...i never got it...i never cryed over it..it sucked but i seen why they did it.

But you cant expect them to have everything layed down at launch when your brought your friends/family and associates to play the game. Every game does this and usually takes time to bring in and usually the items they include in these type of things are always new items that arnt or havent been in the game yet.

This really is the worst community around, when players so casually want to lord it over others like this.

Seconded. It's called a reward for a reason. And while I have no problem with them eventually making it a Vet reward, it should, for the time being, be an exclusive thing. They could make it purchasable later as well.

I've read posts of people saying it should be available to everyone now. But it is a new feature and an award. Try buying a new computer and asking for the next model for free because it came out a week after you bought the old one. They'll tell you to cough up some dough. Cryptic is well within their rights to offer any new enticing product they want. The point is for you to recruit some extra players so Cryptic can get some extra capital so they can then afford to make the Galaxy and MORE available in the future.

You are not entitled to game rewards just for being here. Even the vet awards require a time investment. I'm a lifer and even I have to play for the required time to get the awards I'll get by default anyway.

If you want the rewards...WORK FOR THEM!

Consider yourself a fortunate Bas..No! Bad Cyber end sentence begin anew! What I meant to say was your a lucky person since in my area (The High Desert for those of you curious about it) have witnessed numerous game/comic stores shut down due to rapid decreasing of interest/competition. As of late the main stores are simply just Gamestop/Walmart/Target/Kmart and the smaller shops that offer better service get rolled over in the process. The last Comic shop we had was Comics+ and I used to go there for many of my obscure comics (Ren & Stimpy, Knuckle's Chaotix etc.) which sucks for me since at the moment I'm stuck just having to wait long enough to get a better car before I can seek out a new shop to go to.

As for the crying thing I can understand that some people will be really upset about this situation I personally just feel a little annoyed by it more than like raging mad.

Remember it is the minority of the minority here and realistically if anyone put in enough effort those numbers and be skewed to favor one side over the other.

hahha, say it iam a bast... :) anyways..

That sucks dude I feel for yah. I hope when yah move you get to be around people that are interested in games and what not. Like i said I know some people could try if they wanted to but would get no success in it, just due to the area they are in. But I mean, dont take what I said when I put in the crying bit... but yeah i can see it being annoyed with because you really want it..fine, but when people start flamming about this thats when things are like wow..really...havent you played any other mmo then this.

The lack of empathy displayed by some of you is truly horrendous.
We should all be together in finding ways to have content like this made available for everyone to enjoy.
Instead you sit there and loudly proclaim "give me my exclusives Cryptic!" and feed their amoral machine.

If you mean those numbers only represent the forum folks, then your right. However, this thread only represents the forum folk as well, so by your definition its "skewed" too. And as I replied the last time you said something similar(which you didnt respond to):

"However, the reality of the matter is that most of the changes that have been made to the game are a direct result of forum feedback, since the Devs have not held any in game polls. I wish they would, but until then all their going to get is the feedback from the people on the forums."

I don't care what you consider familiar or not.
I'm sick and tired of people demanding exclusives and gloating while Cryptic turns us into a band of haves and have nots.

I would never want others to miss out on something they truly want merely because they're being asked to do the impossible.
Do unto others as you would expect them to do unto you.

Sounds like you want to turn a game into a job all for the sake of a ship. I'm fine with the ship having the cannon and design. If people can get 5 people subscribing, that's great. However, take off the cloak (assuming it gets one by the time the ship is available) or make cloaks available to all Fed players. Other than that, enjoy your exclusive ship!

No, this is a game I paid to play, that I bought a lifetime sub for. Only to find content is lacking and genuine new additions players like me have requested are used as the carrot for a cynical pyramid scheme.

Ironic that you accuse me of not socialising, when I posses empathy and you clearly do not.

It's not just the forum folks; it's forum folks who 1) bother reading threads on this subject, which is a minority and 2) don't have you ignored. The last is probably the majority, true; but still, there are many people excluded by this.

It was an authenticator used to protect your account. You got a non-combat Corehound if you had an authenticator. That being said, the Corehound didn't let cloak or change your character skin. If you want a reasonable comparison, then instead of the Galaxy-X you get a New Buffed Tribble! Though that would still improve combat (ground) and even the Corehound didn't do that, it was purely cosmetic.

Hmm seems you bought all those.... would it stand to reason that more things would require to be bought :)

Empathy...thats for the week. Give it a rest. If you had sooo much Empathy you would be forking out everyone a lifetime sub so there equals :)

True, and really the only way to get decent information from a poll on the forums is if it is run by Cryptic and not the fans as those polls tend to get far more of a response than browser created polls. The main reason for this would be users choice to avoid threads in which there is going to a vastly large amount of trolling and rather related to an issue they would rather not talk about. This is either for fear of getting their head bitten off if they voted one way or another. Another thing to consider about your poll is this... it is computer IP locked rather than forum ID locked. Theoretically that means that all one has to do to vote twice, or more, is to move from one computer to another or if one is computer savy enough fool the marker into thinking your computer has different IP addresses. You do not have this problem with Cryptic run polls since there is only 1 vote per user account.

What does that mean? It means that the poll that you set up is invalid and the data unreliable due to this flaw in the system.
