I'm sick and tired of people demanding exclusives and gloating while Cryptic turns us into a band of haves and have nots.
I would never want others to miss out on something they truly want merely because they're being asked to do the impossible.

I am merely stating that these are the exact same arguments going back and forth and back and forth with no change. That is all.
It was an authenticator used to protect your account. You got a non-combat Corehound if you had an authenticator. That being said, the Corehound didn't let cloak or change your character skin. If you want a reasonable comparison, then instead of the Galaxy-X you get a New Buffed Tribble! Though that would still improve combat (ground) and even the Corehound didn't do that, it was purely cosmetic.
Ty for that, I really couldnt remember what the item was or what it gave, never the less it proves my point. It could of been just cosmetic but it was something that was given as a "gift" if you shall for buying the authenticator. No other way in obtaining one of those. Same goes with the RAF items...
True, and really the only way to get decent information from a poll on the forums is if it is run by Cryptic and not the fans as those polls tend to get far more of a response than browser created polls.
By that logic, the only way to get decent information is in threads created by Cryptic too, as they tend to get more of a response than regular community created threads. And since this thread isnt created by Cryptic, I guess there is no "decent information" here.
The main reason for this would be users choice to avoid threads in which there is going to a vastly large amount of trolling and rather related to an issue they would rather not talk about. This is either for fear of getting their head bitten off if they voted one way or another.
Except for the fact that you dont even have to post in the thread to vote in the poll. Therefore you can vote however you like and not have to worry about a person A) even knowing you voted or arguing with you about the choice you made.
Another thing to consider about your poll is this... it is computer IP locked rather than forum ID locked. Theoretically that means that all one has to do to vote twice, or more, is to move from one computer to another or if one is computer savy enough fool the marker into thinking your computer has different IP addresses. You do not have this problem with Cryptic run polls since there is only 1 vote per user account.
The great thing about the little holes in the system is they apply equally to both sides. Just as sure is there is some fanatic on one side of the issue who would try to sway the votes, there are people equally fanatic about the other side. That being the case, they wind up negating themselves. And as it turns out, regardless of any fanatics on both sides, the poll still shows the vast majority of folks want an alternative means of getting the ship.

No. No, any item that was given do to a promotion, or package deal should be kept exclusive to those who purshased said item or items. If you wanted said items you should of forked out the cash during the time they had allowed to get it or done what they requested you to get said item or items. Snooze you lose :P

Uh no. Regular community threads are important to the growth of the game, as the tend to address issues and come to a consensus on the issue at hand more often than not. User created polls however don't tend to do this as the polls usually lean in one direction or the other and if one simply looks at the poll numbers any and all discussion about that topic would be a moot point.

It does not entirely stand to reason that more should be bought for this game. As has been said before, you are paying a monthly subscription to a game (or have paid a year or lifetime subscription) in particular to a game that unfortunately did not release with all the content that it should have, a game that Cryptic was contractually obligated to release in half the time of a normal MMO development cycle. I would not deny a reward to someone for bringing in five people and managing to keep them here for two months (the 30-day trial and one monthly billing cycle,) that's a heck of an achievement. I would probably not begrudge them the Galaxy-X, weird bird that it is. But what about the content for the people who just want to play the game? I'm not talking about giving everyone Galaxy-Xen; just the episodes, sectors, ships, what-have-you for the people who are just playing the game. I think we can agree that there's just not enough of that 'normal' content... and that you should expect a pretty good chunk of content (which should have been in the game but wasn't yadda yadda yadda you've heard it before) by dint of paying for the retail box and the monthly subscription.
As for empathy... your statement about empathy being for the weak is incorrect. But this is not the place to argue philosophy and metaphysics.
Well.. i was thinking to myself with all the Keep the Galaxy not posts I thought it was time for something abit more realistic. Keep it exclusive Cryptic, its a great idea, I love it. All ready have my buddys in on this and there ready to go and try the game out. Im sure there are many many others out there like me that were able to find 5 people they know and get them to try your game. Here here for the exclusive item you have put into the mix, cant wait to fly it around with everyone else who managed to get one.

Remember it is the minority of the minority here and realistically if anyone put in enough effort those numbers and be skewed to favor one side over the other.
Since players not on the forums cannot be counted in either the yes or no category, the numbers on the forum must represent them in the same way that one hand written letter sent to a government official counts as 10,000 citizens of that country.
Most governments use that rule of thumb and so should cryptic when it comes to their community and the forums.

I'll grant the point about the government and it's petitions. The point still stands though about the possibility of the numbers in non official polls ending up skewed for good or ill.
Well... if its any consolation... I've made a huge stink about the Galaxy X threads in internal meetings and have even talked directly to the the CEO John personally about it and for now it remains an exclusive reward for the challenging task of recruiting 5 friends.
