Seems to me like you don't have a sense of humor. The yellow text should have told you that I wasn't serious.
Actually i do..just look at some of my replys but ok I appaulagise if I did take what you said abit serious, but you know as much as i do text dosnt convey "feelings" or true intent. Its all text :P
Anyways lets end this already.
Its an exclusive iam happy yes and so and, and so forth...move on now?
Keep it exclusive, keep preorder bonuses and lifer bonuses just that. Bonuses for people who actually do what is necessary to get them. Enough of the whiners who want everything handed to them later.

Luckily the Photonic BO only requires 1 referral...which I can get easily! Happy days!
Ah yes... an entire thread made to say "Neener Neener I can recruit 5 people and you can't! Ha ha ha!". Very mature... It stinks of the same "I'm Blue and Superior" rub-it-in-their-noses nonsense that I refused to participate in.
Great job in being considerate to your fellow players who may not be as fortunate as you.
Well.. i was thinking to myself with all the Keep the Galaxy not posts I thought it was time for something abit more realistic. Keep it exclusive Cryptic, its a great idea, I love it. All ready have my buddys in on this and there ready to go and try the game out. Im sure there are many many others out there like me that were able to find 5 people they know and get them to try your game. Here here for the exclusive item you have put into the mix, cant wait to fly it around with everyone else who managed to get one.
I hope to see more things like this in the future, that are Exclusive. Love yah Cryptic *hugs and kisses from all your fans*

well fine then everyone saying they want the captains table and the pre order stuff and collection of items you had to get before launch of game by pre order to go into the C store......none of you get...
take the captains table away from the vet rewards...its and exclusive to lifer only....let alone the few other things us life time players will be getting.
If they earn it as an achievement/accolade then they have worked for it.
Making it avail in-game as an award for a chain of missions and so forth does not mean anyone got it for free.
If people have put the time into the game or put the money together to buy it, then they deserve it.
With all the things avail in game to people as it is, we still do not see everyone flying the same ships or using the same gear.
So saying that everyone will have it and that the game will be flooded with them is not nec accurate.
Some may not even put forth the effort to get it in the game no matter how accessible it is.
It is the principle of the matter, people should not have to make it a second job on top of everything else to achieve some of these things.
There should be other ways to get iconic items besides having to go out and spam people into buying the game.
I have no real issue with RAF programs, but I do have an opinion on what is being dangled in front of people as a reward and what all is involved in getting it.
It seems a bit on the steep side.
If it was for one or two people that might not be so bad and lower some of the other reqs, but 5?
It may not be a lot of work for some, but for others, that could turn into a 2nd job in and of itself.
They could use some other item less controversial.
Sell it in game for a decent sum.
Allow people to earn it in game.
Make it a vet reward.
Maybe even leave it as an RAF item, but make it also obtainable through a string of achievements in game.
If your curious about the captains table and how I feel about that being exclusive, I think it should be avail to everyone also.
Star Trek should be about the players and the fans, not who has the most friends or who has the biggest wallet.
I want to see this game do well, I want to see tons of people playing it.
It is awsome to see people enjoying Trek, so I have no problem with them coming up with things to get people involved, just wished they would pick less controversial ways to do it lol.

Wait, what?
Look, I sat down in Iron Man 2 last night (did a double feature. Coolness.) and in the packed theater opened up a conversation with the guy next to me about Iron Man, comics, SciFi... and thenI drifted his Trek comment into this game.
Did I make a sale?
No. He inst a gamer, and doesnt see the need to become one. That's fine, I'm no pusher.
BUT, I made every effort to educate him on MMOs in general (nothing too deep, just the basics), what SciFi offerings there are now, Mentioned CoH and CO (we were in a Marvel movie, after all), and so on. And in the end, he may not have agreed to become a referral, but I tried.
And as I've pointed out elsewhere - that's the point.
Not subs, but getting conversations started. Literally planting seeds of positive thoughts about STO in the minds of the public.
I will mention: I brought up the Galaxy-X, and this debate (without revealing my opinions on it). I mentioned the referral program, and the reward, and its exclusivity. I touched on both sides of the argument.
The opinions of this unbiased Trekkie?
1) Cool.
2) Why *shouldn't* someone be given an exclusive reward? We cant all be the winner in a race! (his words)
3) The Galaxy-X? [I had to remind him, and describe it] What a strange choice. Didn't that have an extra nacelle? That's not really supposed to be there you know... [he mentioned the pairs of nacelle only issue, we talked about the later excuse made that maybe Galaxy nacelle are in fact 1 housing, but dual internals, and there fore its 6, not 3, but in 3 housings)
While I felt vindicated a little there, my point wasn't the impressions, my point was this: I TALKED TO SOMEONE ABOUT STO.
well fine then everyone saying they want the captains table and the pre order stuff and collection of items you had to get before launch of game by pre order to go into the C store......none of you get...

Yeah, but... most of us never expected TCT. It was kind of like getting a one-off customized singing fish from your mom, randomly, gift wrapped, but it isn't your birthday or anything. Just a pretty wrapped gift. With a plastic singing fish in it. That only you have.
Gee thanks but... uh...
If it was functional? (had all terminals/vendors/NPC trainers and healers)
If it was accessible the way it was meant to be? (from anywhere, a door that only you can see)
Well, then I might be concerned. But honestly, its no different than the Galaxy-X to me - Thanks for this strange plastic fish that sings my full name... but... next time, please consult me on what you're planning on spending gift money on, because this is kind of ugly and I'm not even sure what to do with it other than put it in the closet.
I do agree on the other Exclusives. Keep them Exclusive. Similar is ok, but not the same things.
The more the subscribers the more money cryptic makes and the more incentive to add to the game. So any incentive to help get more players the better. I have a lot of friends but not a lot who play games nor a lot who like Star Trek. So I probably won't be able to refer a lot of folks, but when the opportunities present itself to refer folks the incentive will be there to help me follow up and refer them. This happened just yesterday. While at work I overheard someone discuss Star Trek. I approached him and offered to refer him to STOL. He took me up on it. So I now have one referral. Without the referral incentive I probably would have just carried on with my work.
Go down to the local comic shop and if yah have to Bar/Club, start making some friends. You know be social. And then talk to them about the game, and see if they would try it and bam...Iam sure youll get someone to try it...again its effort. If yah want the item youll go and try to get it.
What's this "social" thing? Do I need to use the vibrations of sound that come out of my mouth and not use my keyboard to communicate?

I'm scared.
Be very very scared. Instead of looking at png's or jpegs or gifs of people you actually see them in the FLESH! and they even communicate to you by their own mouths... they may even use hand gestures...ohh man iam scared for you lol
gives me shivers just thinking about it....
now I must plug away at my computer to be normal again
"However, the reality of the matter is that most of the changes that have been made to the game are a direct result of forum feedback, since the Devs have not held any in game polls. I wish they would, but until then all their going to get is the feedback from the people on the forums."
This is wrong. The STO Updater, when you first log into the game, mentions at the very top there's a Poll about the next faction. I have also been in-game when GMs have sent game-wide messages about how people should participate in the poll.
Secondly; only people who care about the Galaxy-X being a reward are going to take the time to bother voting on a poll-- usually these people are the vocal minority that want something changed. People content with how things are will likely not vote, especially when it's a poll run by a random guy on the forums and not by Cryptic itself. Also as previously mentioned, such polls are faulty anyway and not difficult to manipulate.
No, it isnt. I am well aware of the link to the new faction poll and the ship interior poll that have been on the launcher. But in case you havent been keeping up, Cryptic has only had 3 "official polls". So let me repeat the statement that have mistakenly called "wrong" and highlight the word you seem to have missed:

Even though Cryptic has had a few polls, the MAJORITY(aka "most") of the changes that have been made to the game are from forum feedback. There was no poll about the death penalty, PvE for Klingons, end game content. All of those changes(and many minor ones) were from forum feedback.

Here, I've highlighted the part of the statement that is wrong, since you seem to be overlooking it.
Trying to claim, as fact, that there have not been ANY in game polls, when by your own admission you're aware of in game (well, via launcher) polls, makes the statement, false.
edit: And the DP was mentioned (if I remember right) on the Poll Cryptic did that rewarded the 240 Cryptic points).

It seems you dont understand what an IN GAME poll is, so let me explain it to you: its a poll that you can vote on IN GAME, not on the forums. If you think their the same thing, just look how many people voted on the last poll: 11k. There are supposedly "well over 100k" people who play STO, so just linking to a forum poll on the launcher obviously doesnt catch many folks attention.

The number is revealing, too, considering most games with published ebuscription numbers see an 8-10% forum participation. Not a "real number, but it indicates STO's population should sit nicely in the >100k range (110-137.5k give or take) ...then again, not all of us participated in the poll?

Exclusive RAF rewards increase the incentive to use RAF, plus, it's a ship from an alternate timeline, not everyone should have it.
/DISAGREE
We are allowed alternate timelines now, eh ?
I cant wait to see when people start demanding stuff from OTHER alternate timelines...
NOBODY summons the Great Jack Armstrong! I poof where I want to go...um...which way to the subforum?
This discussion needed some levity. I hope I just helped make things lighter.
Tell them they get a real life orion woman just like kirk if they subscribe. It will work!
Now that would be worth me buying 5 subs and games, or using some "friendly persuasion" to get my friends to play!

Very true. I am all about chatting up STO now wherever I go. I am even spamming my Facebook friends.
Finally something I can try using to counter all those Mafia and Farmville friend updates.

It's already bad enough that we have ten billion regular Sovereign class ships flying around named some form of Enterprise-E.
