I haven't played for a while just because of the lack of endgame. I don't want to complain about that though (though probably will lol). I'm complaining about the ENDLESS freakin' rewards that go out which I have absolutely no chance of getting.
Galaxy-X? I WANT ONE! Oh wait, I have to recruit 5 people... not happening...
Oh those other rewards look nice! Wait... lifetimers only? Us Year subs don't get anything special?
Oh look I'd love that! I have to spend Cryptic Points?
The problem here is that nearly EVERYTHING I see that I want CANNOT be obtained for free through an update (via in-game work or currency or something). Instead nearly EVERYTHING I want is obtained through some stupid reward. I literally see more stuff I'm interested in going places I can't go then going in the open game.
A while back I was unsure about rewards and microtransactions. I thought if they were only bling I might not care. Well, really I care. Bling is my FAVORITE thing in MMO. I'm the guy who would spend forever in WoW getting an Orb of Deception over the end game gear.
Give me alternative ways to earn this stuff. I do believe the vast majority of rewards should be offered through multiple means. Give me another way to earn a Galaxy-X! I'm pretty angry at this game...
And even the bling isn't so much bling. Galaxy-X gets it's own stats and a special weapon. That's more than bling. Pure Bling is stuff like vanity pets or a special crappy uniform or a title or whatever. Not a whole end-game ship with a unique ability and stuff!
Bleh... I want to return. But every time I see more news I just get more angry at the state of this game. I couldn't even refer anyone without feeling a sense of guilt because they might experience what I am.
The endless rewards are stupid. The microtransactions are stupid because it seems we'll never get neat stuff like that unlocked FOR FREE. I thought they put every other thing in the story and every other one in an update but everything seems to be going into rewards and stuff.
Oh yeah. And there's still barely any endgame. ;P
I like this game a lot until I reach the end at which point there's little to do and all the neat items and stuff go places I can't follow. Really it's gameplay is good and unique. I'd like to see the updates do more and more "reward" fun-type items go to EVERYONE given the right about of in-game play (why don't bosses drop fun items like Orb or Deception?).
FUN-ITEMS are my FAV! Stop not letting me have them.

And Dabo soon too!
Hey you know what, when i get myn ill give yah a ride to earth dock
Also Voltorb Flip the mini-game in Pokemon Heartgold and Soulsilver is stupidly addictive. I doubt Dabo will compare.
Yes. I'm comparing STO to Pokemon.
While I get your resentment (There's this one 2010 GT-R in town I keep asking for the keys to, but the dude who owns it just calls the cops on me), I'm not sure why you don't see the non-exclusive things as desirable? Is it the exclusivity?
I will say however that anything on the C-Store really needs to be added in the game as achievable.
I choose you! Go, Nine-Tails Enterprise of Doomly Gloom!
Ummm are you talken about my 2010 GT-R cause ive been hearing some snotty nose brat keeps asking about my elitest car...how dare you...your just a scummy boy..keep away
Just like the equally vocal equally minority sloth/greedy will explain that there should never be an appropriate reward for effort/faith/dedication?
Yeah, pot, this is kettle. Its about that whole color thing...
Face it, we're both extreme wingers. And to be honest, I've taken my extreme position specifically because of the likes of you. Kinda like batman/joker - you made me.

Stop begging for things you don't deserve and learn how to earn or purchase the rewards you want.
I'm sick of your side's strawman arguments, I'm not even going to bother repeating myself because you'll just ignore reality and substitute your own.
So are you using a Ninetails or a Gloom? Make up your mind!
Dabo must have Dabo girls... it's CANON!
I thought it'd be an unholy trinity of a cross between a Federation ship, Ninetails AND Gloom! :P
Just give me a regular tier 5 Galaxy some day soon, and I'll be happy.
Tiles - Great! Give them out like candy.
Non-combat Pets - Awesome! Sure, I'd like them but don't let that stop you! Give them out!
Uniforms - Just don't push it. The vast majority of uniforms should be free! I'm okay with this.
Functionality items - Really it matters if they're end-game viable. Even then most people don't really care because items remain basically invisible compared to very visible stuff like ships. Just don't make them too good and as an alternate to end-game items.
Ships - It matters how viable they are. The original Connie doesn't cause much issue because it's a tier 1 ship. You'll spend a few hours in it then move on. The Galaxy-X is a tier 5 ship which you can use FOREVER and it even has it's own functional awesome unique WEAPON.
The Galaxy-X pushes too far. The Connie was neat but never crossed the line (my line lol).
Extra stats, experience - This is fine if it's small. Like rewarding with 5% damage if teamed with someone you referred. That's fine (with the day limit). A small experience buff is fine too however I don't believe it should be so big as to make crazy fast leveling possible. WoW had an experience reward for referrals that went insane, gave huge boosts to experience and made it possible to level up from 1 to max level within a matter of minutes with enough referrals. That was way too far.
Species - Okay this one is iffy. Most people won't give a TRIBBLE about most species released thus far. However please stop AWESOME species from being exclusive like the Hologram. Lets us all get a Hologram.... Please don't do the same with Androids or other AWESOME species.
Also for every certain portion of "Fun-items" (all that I listed) you should release some "Fun-items" on the open server that everyone has a chance to get (from a boss, as a mission reward, random drop, whatever).
Every reward should have a viable alternative way to getting it available to everyone without spending real life cash or referring someone or something crazy like that.
I'm not totally against the Cryptic Store either. I still have over 1000 points I got for free I'm waiting to spend on something really good. Just keep the things cheap and don't put EVERYTHING in there. Maybe give us a free race once in a while or free ship parts, etc. It seems like everything is going into that store. :P
Little perks is nothing to get worked up over. But I also agree some of these things that are unobtainable... like pre-order bonuses... should eventually be added, possibly as Veteran rewards or (*shudder*) C-store items, or even mission rewards. Like the Original Series Constitution.
The Galaxy-X is a different matter because it's completely obtainable. It's not something like a pre-order bonus or promotion that's done and gone. All you have to do is recruit some friends to play the game with you. Heck, you may have some fun with them! Make a new character and play on a harder difficulty with them, group up, and eventually tackle the STFs or do PVP together.
I'd rather recruit some friends to play STO with me, and get some rewards on the side, than buy a mess of C-Store points. A lot of people here complaining about the Galaxy-X and how this RAF promotion is a "marketing ploy" and a "money grab", yet they want this item included in the C-Store... is something I don't understand.
I need a new avatar...
Something fitting...
I trust you...
1. Agreed that lack of endgame content needs to be fixed, whether by missions, more fleet activities, an exploration system that isn't just copy-pasta, etc. There's no way someone should be paying $15 dollars a month for nothing. A lot of people are hanging on right now waiting for content, but eventually everyone will cancel their subs if they have nothing to do. An STF every two weeks isn't going to cut it.
2. Agreed that everything in the C-store should be available in-game with enough effort. Being triple-dipped by Cryptic (just the thought that they are putting development time into micro transactions when they need to be hammering out content) plus having nothing to do is sure to peeve a lot of people off. If people could grind c-store items, then at least it gives them something to do for that $15/month.
3. Disagree that the galaxy-x should be available to everyone. If it was, then almost every cruiser captain might fly the galaxy-x. Diversity is nice, especially in PvP. Just hopefully they make it balanced, and weigh it's advantages with equal disadvantages.
Question would would play a Pokemon MMO? if it could connect to your HG SS games.
Well, at least we agree on the exact same impression of the other person...
I imagine the scene will be very different in game.
i.e. masses of Klingon ships ganking the rich boy in the Galaxy X he bought with 5 subs.
If I'm still around, I'll let them do it too.
who says iam buying 5 subs...tss called friends my dear
well how they gonna kill me when iam cloaked OHHHHH  SNAP
(trimmed for quoting)
These are the two I agree with most! C-Store items are fine...in moderation. A lot of what is being added to the C-Store would be better used for in-game rewards/incentive to play or as new quest rewards.
$15.00/mo > $2.50 in C-Store credits.
I don't think you should be able to connect your games to a Pokemon MMO. There would be cheating. I've love a Pokemon MMO though. It would be a WoW killer and the best MMO ever however Nintendo is a bunch of internet-phobe stupids so it'll never happen (see Friend Codes...).
All those free Pokemon MMO fanmade things are TRIBBLE too. I used to volunteer to sprite for one. I didn't actually play it much at all. :P
Lol... my favorite comment on that clip~
Yo dawg, I herd you like warp, so we put a nacelle on your nacelle so you can warp while you warp
lol
Maybe later. I'm busier these days doing actual work instead of volunteering for everything. :P
