I am so glad you call it QQing when people have legitimate issue and gripes.
What you call legitimate I call people just wanting to save a buck. A worthwhile cause, to be sure. But not enough to completely destroy the forums with spam on the subject. So yea, QQing.
Also, did you guys see the last post in the original thread? I win! I win!...but if I won, why do I feel sick to my stomach? Hmm...let me think about that while I run the raidis....do pve on my klin....enjoy the 60 extra free da....oh wait...nevermind, I think I got it.
so the issue is atari is offering a promo that betters the original sale when the game was released?
promo looks good! should attract many more subs to increase cofers to better the game for everyone
sidebar: retail stores often offer a disclaimer that says if you buy a product from them, then find a sale within X number of days of the SAME PRODUCT, they will refund you the difference plus x% (see futureshop/bestbuy). That strategy is a way to show customers that are loyal to your store that you care about them.
the equiv here would probably amount to like a free month or something...heck even a free couple weeks or something to that degree
this would be much different if this promo came out a year later..i doubt anyone would care at that point...but SO soon after retail release...come now
So they closed the official first thread.
An attempt to hide the amount of posts , watch as it slips off the first page.
Shameful !
You are a disgrace Cryptic!
Massive QQing. On an epic scale the likes of which the internet has never seen before.
Errrrmmm... not quite. I'd give it a 6.5 on the Richter scale of whining.
On Topic: Early adopters ALWAYS get screwed like this (Did you guys/gals never buy a brand new TV only yo see it on sale two weeks later?). It's the price of having something earlier than others. Personally I couldn't care less, as long as it gets more people into the game and thus more budget to improve it. *shrug*
one of a few bad moves this weekend wouldn't you say. personally I'm done. I going to go play some halo, or something like that, and just watch Rome burn.
I have a fresh copy of Rome: Total War that I got from Steam last week for a couple bucks. I can watch it burn for real.
There was really no reason to change the stickied thread. No good reason.
Only thing I can think of is to force us to start over in terms of our post/view count. Make it look more like just a bunch of random QQers and change the initial post to say as much. Pure cowardly action.
We understand that some of you are upset about the current sale on Atari.com. There are a number of threads on the forums about this, which is making it very difficult to find information about anything else on these forums. Due to this, we are closing all other threads regarding this matter. We do value your feedback on this, matter however, and would appreciate it if you would post your feedback regarding this matter here, in this thread. All other threads regarding this will be closed.
Thanks,
Phoxe
Unacceptable. You can't just pretend that other thread didn't happen... or all the others. Now you are literally STEALING money from people. You told people with lifetime subscriptions that they had until the end of the 30-day trial to get a refund, now you're refusing to give them refunds and just hanging up on them, on top of everything else.
I will gladly join in a suit against Cryptic after this mess.
For those who feel cheated, especially lifetime subscribers who have been refused a refund, use this form to lodge a complaint with the California Attorney General's office. They get thousands of complaints today, my guess is that Cryptic is gonna feel the fire.
Completely insane, this response. The only thing Cryptic has to say is "Your threads are clogging our forums, we're going to make them all disappear so we can pretend this never happened" and "Oh yeah, you can't have a refund now even though we said you had until the 30 days" ... of course, with the way Cryptic behaves (a la 1984), those posts are probably already removed from the database or edited in the database to say something than they did originally.
A corrupt company to the core ... Cryptic.
Here is the original thread that Cryptic wants to hide. Want to take bets on how long before it gets moved to an admin only forum or until it mysteriously vanishes from the database?
What you call legitimate I call people just wanting to save a buck. A worthwhile cause, to be sure. But not enough to completely destroy the forums with spam on the subject. So yea, QQing.
Well, if you had taken the time to read what the real griped were you would have found out this isn't about saving a buck. You wanna debate the specific issues fine, you wanna disagree with people fine but don't dismiss it as nothing.
OK so they decided to let the old single thread die and now we get to have a brand new thread.
And guess what? I called in to get a LTS refund and the guy tells me the 'higher ups' and decided to stop the LTS refunds today, despite the fact that they were going out Friday with no issue.
Wow Cryptic. Wow Atari. I mean I understand you're trying to keep as much money as possible but wow. You really are one of the most unethical companies I have ever run across.
Do a credit card charge back...30 days have not expired. Slam dunk case.
Yeah, this is disappointing. Why abuse early adopters and current user base like this one month after the launch? Kinda like biting the hand that feeds you. Cryptic needs to make this right and not alienate the launch players. I am not a lifer BTW for the sub.
The Atari offer was obviously not a bright PR move, as it alienated core monthly sub communities. Dropping a game by 10 to 20 dollars is pretty common. Providing 3 months free gives the naysayers a piece of ammunition to drive away customers (and you have enough non-game playing serial naysayers here to choke a horse), makes the older customer mad, and ****es off the lifetime people who are still an important audience.
Oh I feel cheated. I am convinced this game wasn't ready for launch. Absolutely convinced. The problem is the devs won't admit that and do the smart thing like Blizzard, which is extend free time for all.
I will not accept the excuse that Atari owns Cryptic. The two are joined at the hip and more than likely Cryptic knew full well Atari was going to do this.
I ask that you rectify this and extend all subscribers free time by at least 30 days. Let me see your end game content you promised us this month. But as it stands now, with your CRS department now refusing lifetime refunds and this obvious slap in the face to those of us that stood with you through CB/OB and Launch, I will not be renewing. I have no reason to expect your 45 day patch or your raidisodes to be enough to convince me to stay. You track record just isn't that good.
One thing you gotta know about me, once I leave an MMO I don't come back.
nope he just shut it up, i guess it was getting to big, and the outside world was starting to see it.
Damage Control teams to the forums! God forbid that happened. I suspected this sale was just a blatant cash grab on the their part and now they're refusing refunds on LTS before the 30 days is up. RIP STO.
I loved it when I first started playing!! STO couldnt do no wrong!
But I am sad to say, after a few weeks I hit the level cap, found out there isn't anything to do and that kind bugged me. But I still logged in to play just to fly around in my own Starship, do some crafting and help people out!
But as those short 3 weeks passed I have come to realize that these companies have made a LOT of mistakes. I was ok with waiting for content; I was even ok with the price drop. But when I saw that post about Atari giving new players 60 (or 90 not 100% confirmed) free play time just blew my mind!
I then started to really worry to what was happing to a game I longed for, for so long! You just don't see a company make that rash of a business decision like this only after 3 weeks! And to add salt to the wound, they left the current customers in the dust! I personally have never experience that type of customer service in any MMO I have ever played!
Here's to hoping that these companies come out with an official comment today that a lot of us are hoping to hear. If not, then it's the biggest chicken sh*t thing I have seen from a MMO developer.
My two cents, not having a horse in this fight (I'm Lifetime):
I'd say, if someone got the Standard Edition from Atari before the sale, give them the extra time. Make that retroactively the 'bonus' they got for getting the Standard Edition from Atari, since there wasn't exactly a lot of bonuses from them anyway.
Folks who got one of the other preorders/box sets from one of the other vendors got other bonuses with them. That's how it should work. If you got the Borg Bridge Officer, you get to have that long after the extra weeks of time for the Atari customers have run out.
There is already a stuck thread on this topic with 50k+ hits and 300+ pages
/close & lock this thread.
Yeah, but admitting that thread ever existed would be a BAAAAAAD move, wouldn't it? Let's just all pretend nothing ever happened....
*whistles*
*walks away very fast*
By the way, if there is a doctor in the thread, I got a question. Can you get PTSD flashbacks from the skillcap threadnaught? Cause that sure would explain all the shaking...

Actually, I can see one good one. Just before the thread closed, someone pointed out that the thread was started by someone who was banned. Also, it's probably not a good idea to sticky a thread that suggests everyone spam one of their employees.

'cept you'll probably be able to get said borg BO from the C-Store as soon as Cryptic/Atari feels the slightest financial pinch. I'd guess March 4th.
Comments
I for one think they need to show some love for the people who have been with the game all along and give everyone the extra free play time.
What you call legitimate I call people just wanting to save a buck. A worthwhile cause, to be sure. But not enough to completely destroy the forums with spam on the subject. So yea, QQing.
hush they don't want to look at that.

Just a dumb move all around by Atari.

hmm. I have my copy from the releases to Empire Total way. that is tempting, it would be more fun then logging in.

Not covering anything up are you?
Indigo even had it stickied....where did it go?
OOOOO you set it where threads go to die.
just wow...
