You should have just stickied the thread that was over 250 pages long. :/

    Honestly, this is ridiculous.

This is as much a slap in the face to people that got one box as it is to those of us that bought more than one box for all of the unlocks. Now, to break even, you have to play for over a year and a half for a lifetime sub to pay off.

I dont have a single problem with what has occurred. Unlike some on the forums here, I know the risks that are involved with a MMO and buying it so close after its release. I also understand that my purchase precludes me from any special offers decided on later UNLESS I go out and buy another copy of the game to take advantage of that offer.

As far as I am concerned, nothing wrong has happened. Its just people wanting something for nothing. They all knew the risks when they bought the pre orders and the LTS's and now...they want all the future special offers in perpetuity of their purchases. I know this is unreasonable but some do not. Simply put...I dont have a problem.

excuse in my last post i said that everyone is complaining about free trials for like 3 threads in acuality its more like 30 possibly more, absolutely ridiclous. it amazes me how many people feel shafted by this when acording to your standars i myslef have been shafted the most, i shelled out over 70$ for the game and plus 14$ subscription for the game and i have yet to see any kind of free trial. Do i care? not in the least, i would rather cryptic get their money and use it to get more subscribers and hopefully ban everyone here who seems to refuse to provide usefull feedback for example something to make this game even better? but no you moan and groan over TRIBBLE things such as this. one thing i see in common here is the fact that most of the complainers are senior members meaning you have been here alot longer than i have, and probably were part of the open beta possibly even an alpha. sitting pretty in star cruisers and probably more credits than you know what to do with. do me a favor before you cancel your account send all your stuff my way, ill put it to good use while you fail at life.

im not happy by this. at first i wasnt to angry, the deals were on the DD and the CE. i bought the standard edition. then they added the standard edition, which then i got angry. atari/cryptic pretty much said "thanx for being here from the begging, and as a reward you get to pay to continue playing!". on the standard edition its pretty much 50% off (cost of game originally + a 60 day game card, which i did purchase but didnt open yet).

if best buy or wal-mart or home depot did this on any other big ticket item we would be able to get a price match because they offer a 30 day price match guarentee. take a look at those buisness models atari, they aint the top of their respective food chains for nothing. they respect their customers by offering the price match.

all it takes is 1000 people to cancel the game and then have each person who cancels to tell 10 people to not buy the game at all. thats 10,000 sales lost because you treated your customers like TRIBBLE. and then those 10,000 people tell 10 of their friends to not buy the game......see what im getting at here?

im not asking for a extra 60 days free, i just want to be able to see the 45 day patch and experience it without having to pay to do so.

you people (atari/cryptic) screwed up royally and now you are also going back on your word to refund the lifetimers (thread is here http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=130522 ), once again TRIBBLE over some of your most loyal customers.

you need to get in here and do something quick atari/cryptic. i have till the 5th before i to will cancel and return the game card i bought. this is the first game to ever drag me from world of warcraft in the past 4 years. i love this game minus the lack of end game content. please dont mess this up because you got greedy.

*sits down cross legged in front of cryptic studio's front door*

'We will not we will not be moved'

Seriously though........the sale ploy completely destroyed my faith in Atari/Cryptic in their total lack of thought for the players that had tirelessly reported bugs glitches all the way through beta and even carried on in headstart. The 60 day extra gameplay was a right slap in the face and I feel that IF Atari/Cryptic put as much effort into fixing the glaring gaps in game content and polish this company would be assured of my continued support.

As it stands I have no intentions of re-subscribing after my current game time runs out.

The only way for this to be fixed is by a show of good faith from Cryptic. Give us a GOOD reason to stay.
Give us all the bonus 60 days game time per retail bought. That will go a LOOOOONG way to restore faith in the product/company.

I supported this game through beta on the basis that the gameplay features the devs stated were going to be in the game were:

Capless skill system - almost unlimited possibilities with this.
Player owned stations - Awesome for PVP and a host of other cool things
The ability to train Boff's with your own skills and then trade them back to the market/other players.
Exploration - the ability to find new places and give your friends the location for cool meeting points etc.
Exploration - the ability to find new uber rare Boff's to add to your bridge crew.
    Ship interior functionality

Those were the WINNING features that dragged me over.

The lack of content and variety of content is shocking (but bearable on the premise that it gets sorted soon)
The Memory Alpha crafting is just bartering and is just to be fair a poor choice (again bearable if real crafting is implemented soonish)
lack of endgame content (again bearable if fixed soon)

all above goes for all playable factions

What is not acceptable is the complete trashing of players respect and trust by offering 60 days more free game time within 90 days of the launch of the game.

    NO!!! Crptic/Atari! BAD!!

P.S. Also on top of al that giving out our 'Exclusive' in game items was a bit naughty of you guys too.....

Seems the discount and additional 60 days free game time offer has now been rescinded.

Yeah, and that's too bad. I had a friend who was interested in the game but couldn't justify paying for an additional MMO fee every month. I can understand his situation so I haven't pushed him on it, even though I know the space combat alone would be enough to probably grab him.

But then this morning when I told him about the new discounted price and 90 days of free time offer, that was finally enough to get him on-board to try the game out. But after not being able to find the offer anywhere on the site, he's basically giving up on the idea. Bleh. Lost opportunity.

How horrible it would have been to have attracted new customers to the game. But at least nobody is getting discounts now, right? Rar!!

i have watched the threads over the weekend and i even find myself wondering if ill play much longer. The 60 extra days free and giving nothing to people who bought the game a few weeks ago or even a few days ago leaves me not wanting to play anymore. Really bad timing with the 30 days running out in a few days for most people. Plus the locking on threads like the old one with about 3000 replys shows there trying to hide it. Time will tell but this probley will kill the game and the lack of end content will kill it soon.

I'm beginning to think those who are posting that claim they don't have a problem have given up and are hoping to see the game fail. Who wouldn't have a problem with a game being discounted by $40, which is the actual value it has been lowered by?

Those who already believe it won't matter.

No it isn't... I checked... no patch for me.

Looks like they took down the 60 day game time offer too. Now just says $10 off. So much for their special offer until march 3.

I'm really interested to know why the sale and 60 extra free days are now no longer available? The sale originally said until March 3. It's only March 1 today and the offer was still there earlier this morning.

I for one really don't care that the game has been made cheaper, that's how all computer game company's work.

The issue I have is the extra 30 days you are giving away now with the purchase of a game.

I have been playing since head start and never complained once about all the unexpected down time and issues we had.

I feel if anything we should get some free time or in game promotion to make up for this and our dedication to the game.

I said it this weekend and I'll say it again here, I'm not angry, I don't consider this a slap in the face (I see it as business not a personal attack). The price decrease isn't the issue, those happen all the time, the problem is the unprecedented increase of the trial period. I consider it bad customer service to offer this before many of us are billed after our free trial. Something like this so soon after launch does two things in my mind, 1). it makes those that paid full price for 1/3 the time feel like they are less important than the "new players" they plan to attract with this offer, and 2). it undermines the confidence the players have in the game as the move feels more like one of desperation than a way to "attract new players." Honestly to be fair either we all get the 90 days free time (well 60 for us that started playing on launch day), or keep the 30 days free and let the game speak for itself, you may not get as many new players, but those that like it will stick around, or those that want to see if the potential is realized. Or find some other way to compensate the launch day players, many of us are very reasonable and just want to come to an understanding (most of us would settle for an apology about how this whole fiasco was handled).

Actually I looked at http://www.startrekonline.com/ and it doesn't show the $10 off or the 60 days extra.

And if you click on the advertisement they're only giving the original $10 off bringing the deluxe edition down to $49.99 rather than $39.99.

If the game requires such a hefty discount this early on to get people to play, it's in trouble.
