Sound like you guys are hard at work makeing STO the best. More playable races would be nice, and i see that you guys have that in mind. one suggestion, For PVP some have mentioned about starbases and such. Like the game EVE having a Player controled Sector. The fight would be to see to control the most of the sector as you can or something like that. i am sure you will take everything in consideration that we player ask. Well i have put my 2 cents in. loe what you guys have done and will do with the game.

As long as it's not totally open PvP, that would not be good for people who don't like PvPing like myself.

And I still don't mind a death penalty, as long as it's not going to punch me in the nuts each time I die. That's the kinda thing that will get orders and subscriptions canceled fast.

I myself do not like PvP much, tends to get gangers that do nothing but cause normal players problems. That happens in all games I played in (which is since the 2.4k modem was for sale or a very long time} ;)

Now a good PvP would be: two player go in accepting it's PvP one comes out

Other-wise you going to see enemy players in nebula and a small ship luring in the bait :(

I watched Conan go from a good game to heck with griefers and gankers.

Other hand for events as said even teams/player it's a nice diversion. :)

If it becomes a full PvP and not able to do regular missions etc... Well I will be finding the next game

Yeah, the PvP events I've noticed are good choices, that's the kinda thing that they should stick with IMO.

what i was meaning that a sector is devoted to a sector but the normal mission/ exploration and story sectors stay the same. like a part to the gamma quaderant is a pvp sector. something like that. i am not saying all sectors be pvp but just devote a area to just pvp where pvpers can go and no pvpers can still play mission and level up.

This sounds like this State of the Game goes in the Win column. Keep up the great work!

P.S. Can we get some more clarification on what the stats mean on the ships.
P.P.S Im still new to the game :)

Great info keep up the good work. Lets pray it doesn't go down hill like Star Wars Galaxies did. Their problem was they stopped listening to the masses and did their own thing.

I think the PVP engagements would benefit from a interface for the challenging parties to interact prior to battle.

IE, you have 60 seconds to join the fight so why not have a short chat for the teams who join the queue to
chat prior to battle? Then spawn the teams together and let them fan out from there.

It would also be nice if you could have a rematch after battle.

A random idea, but large fleet engagements with scheduled battles. The winning faction would maintain
control of the sector. This could be tricky since the Galaxy map would have to change colors based on the
winning faction but it would be pretty cool. The point being, it simulates a real ongoing war where player
    interaction does matter.

    This may be clich

One of the reasons I like this MMO is that there is not Death Penalty (or Respawn Sickness). It's one of the reasons I shelled out for a lifetime subscriptions... I'd consider the implementation of it a breach of contract.

I would like to see some more "ground battles" inside the ships. Where you can invade the enemy ships or they can invade you and you have to fight inside the ships. I would also like to see the klingons start out at lvl 1 lieutenant instead of 5 and more actuall missions for them instead of just repeatable missions.

You mean the contract that says:

"Cryptic may modify the Game at any time without notice. Additionally, Cryptic may update the Game remotely, including without limitation, the software client for the Game residing on Your machine, without Your knowledge, and You hereby grant to Cryptic Your consent to deploy and apply such patches, updates and modifications."

The contract you agreed upon when buying and installing the game?
The contract you apparently didn't read?
    That contract? ;)

    Yay! Great idea! Rematch!

That way, I can have my revenge on those wretched klingons who killed me fiftee--- *dies*

Seriously, that would be a cool feature. Nothing like a battle to the (mutiple) death(s) for some serious bonding and making of friends. It would be fun to keep the same teams ready for rematch in some way.

    Dealth Penalty = No

Dealth penalties in some games are fine, as there is something to do while you have a dealth penalty to work it off. In STO there is really nothing to do but fight or wait around, so I don't see the point so much.

Regarding death penalties, I agree with the other players whom have stated that any penalty should consume time only. As in while you wait for your ship to be repaired, a time frame could be worked up based on the time it takes our own navy to build/repair ships now. The Board Game Federation & Empire is a good example to use for the logistics of this. But Cryptic might need to come up with things for captains to do whilest awaiting their beloved ship to come out of drydock.

first about the death penalty thing-

i think they need one because combat is WAY WAY WAY to monotonous and easy without some risk envolved.

and overall ih ope they add alot of content and depth soon. every review ive read doesnt like ti because of this and it hink they can easily fix it with this update.

I may be a bit off topic.. I think... but...

I don't know what level everyone is so I apologize if I am stating a well know fact.. the Romulan NPCs in the Alpha sector's enemy signal contacts are very smart and I had to come up with new tactics for dealing with them.. not to mention they camp the instance entrance, and somehow they keep powering down my ship while they pummel me. lol. I must have gone in six or nine times tonight and each time I blew up I sat on the edge of my seat waiting for the respawn timer because when I blew up I left some good federation ships behind to pick up the slack. I find them very challenging. =)

Rommies should be next, after klinks are finished.

As far as the death penalty...PLEASE think outside the box here and go for a death CONSEQUENCE....

Use death as a vehicle to launch into a series of immersive minigames that bring the bridge and your ship interior to life in a COMPLETELY star trek fashion...

    Here is what I mean:

Before your ship blows up, it gets "incappped". During this time, as an engineer you would play a QUICK, fast, fun, minigame to avert a warp core breach, or bring life support back online...these would be done on "consoles" on the bridge or in engineering. If you succeed, you get back into the fight with a small energy buff - if you fail, well the ship goes kaboom, and you respawn with a debuff...

As a tactical officer, your minigames could be things like managing internal security system to repel boarders, or disarming a chroniton torpedo warhead that had pierced the hull, but not yet exploded...

A science officer could use a console minigame to navigate the ship out of some anomaly that that last volley of photons blasted your ship into, or a minigame to triage or heal the crew, etc.

It should be TRIVIAL to come up with 5 or so, fast, fun minigames, for each class based on exmaples from the series' of ways to save the bacon...then they would be triggered at random. Faster you complete the minigame successfully, faster you get back into the fight...

Fact is the episodes/series are full of countless examples of heroic effort by the captain and/or bridge officers to due various things to save the ship or the crew after things have all gone wrong. This is star trek. This would be immersion. PLEASE do NOT dumb the game down to some stupid, pay x amt of energy credits, sink that is unimaginative and pass up this kind of a chance to generate REAL, exciting, immersive content where your ship and your crew depend on your minigame actions....and those consoles we see in our interiors actually are USED for something...lol

This is the best idea i have read for the death penalty idea. It would make the game more interesting for starters and would make sense from a Star Trek prospective!

For me it depends on what the penalty is... if the penalty is anyting like some MMOs... it is not for me... I don't want to spend a bunch of time running around getting credits to buy a new ship.. and then dodging bad guys for another hour or two getting the weppons and equipment ... the idea posted by Knox1711 is ok.. I am enjoying the game with out a death penalty... if other peeps think that a penalty makes the game more thrilling and enjoyable... then have a button they can push to turn it on for them...

I understand the game is a work in progress, and if the Developers really listen to the players this game can be so much better. I personally would like to see a few things like a more "Bridge Commander" use to the bridge, a ready room , conference room and a 10-foward would be nice, maybe even the ability to visit other areas of your ship like engineering, crew quarters. Another opition for more missions:) could be the ablity to relive some of the great missions of the past series with the series crews on the hollow deck.

Well what i read so far sound intersting, but about the DP i just would like to add something.
In nearly every MMORPG there are the calls for DPs. Usualy during the launch phase or short after it, and they all got removed pretty soon because even those Players who wanted it in the first place grow tired of it at some point.

I appreciated the resposne... hate all those in-game arguments about how good or bad the game is and how no one seems to be listening. Anyone in any business would know that to stay in business you have to listen, and I always knew you were.

I enjoy the game, but I'm also not trying to rush through it either. I actually read the missions, not just hit continue and scan for the direction to travel.

There are a few things I'd like to see added to the game, but I'm more excited at seeing where it will evolve.

    Peace,
    GeneS

Usually about the same time the gankers get together and start attacking them. Unless of course they are a ganker, in which case it just gets boring after they have ruined the game for everybody.

    Amazing. I'm not alone! :)

I always find it funny - in a sad way - how some people max out their characters in four days and then complain about the lack of content, while they didn't bother with the existing content to begin with.

You haven't played many MMOs at launch, have you? Not saying I haven't seen buggier, but sure as hell seen a lot better as well...

Aye... City of Heroes (run by Cryptic at the time) launched A LOT smoother than STO and CO combined. It had even delayed the launch date several months just to make sure it was running smooth and not too buggy before launch.

Personally, I went through every mission I could get (except PvP and defend X sector stuff), read all the lil tidbits, but now I'm RA5 and still enjoying the game, even if its just exploration for now. I have no doubt there will be more to do in time.
