My light cruiser is named the U.S.S. Hovvaj, which means "Star Warrior" in Klingon, because my character is a Klingon (officially, Alien, until Cryptic adds Klingon as a Fed race).

Strangely enough, I had curiosly selected the random name option during open beta (just to experiment around) and the ship's name that appeared was U.S.S. Merrimack. Historically speaking, the Merrimack was scuttled in the Elizabeth River in my home state of Virginia by the North at the start of the American Civil War. She was later salvaged and rebuilt there as the Confederate State's first Iron Clad C.S.S. Virginia. So I kept the name for my Miranda class vessel and decided to use again for Early Start as well. For those of you who do not know, C.S.S. Virginia (formally U.S.S. Merrimack) and the U.S.S. Monitor (the North's 2-gun in a turret Iron clad) also made world newspapers when they had their first only battle at Hampton Roads Virginia in 1862. The battle ended in a draw as neither had the punch to destroy the other. The Monitor would eventually sink during a storm just off the coast of North Carolina and the Virginia would be scuttled yet again in the James River to prevent it from being captured by the encroaching Northern Union forces. Btw my U.S.S. Merrimack is commanded by Lt. Amos Hale, Hales are one of the first families of Virginia history (like the famous Lee family of Virginia). No my real name isn't Hale nor am I kin to them either. Just though it was cool name for a Captain is all!

"Admiral, we will not give the enemy any quarter.... we will give them Hale instead!"

I prefer my ships (in fan fic or STO) be named after ambassadors, world-class writers or recycled from Classic (TOS) Trek.

    USS Osprey - NCC 93001
    Cpt. Hobart

Osprey is my internet call-sign, but it's also a Bird of Prey I'm quite fond of.

Captain named for the son of the 6th Earl of Buckinghamshire who served as a Turkish Naval Admiral ('Pasha' Hobart), and gave his name to my 'House' at grammar school.

Well, the U.S.S. Anushik is named after my baby girl, and my Gamestop Connie (When I get it) will be named after my wife, the U.S.S. Goharik. After that, the gloves come off :P
Why did you pick it any real reason or was it just random post it here.

Mine was the USS Sentinel. Named after My old Lug Trek Ambassador Class Ship. captained that thing for 18 years before it got blown up by the Hur'Q. total roleplay nerd here.

Other ship is the USS Tantalus. Another Nod to a Star trek rpg i play. it was a Galaxy class.

Frigate: USS RicardoMontelban - You know who he is
Tier 2: USS Scrutiny - Nothing I'm aware of, just came up with it.
Tier 3: USS Epcot Center (Disneyworld, because of the stupid golf ball Science T3's have)

    T4 and up...dunno yet.

USS Banhammer on my Fed PvP main. It was suggested by the regulars in the IRC channel.

IKS Ban'leth on my Klingon main. I believe Wishstone may have come up with the original name on that one, or maybe it was somebody else in the channel. It's the Klingon version of a banhammer.

USS Kearsarge on my Fed PvE main. I'm going cruisers, cruisers in Star Trek are traditionally named after the same historic sources as US Navy aircraft carriers, and my dad served on a real carrier by that name.

So far, USS Diomede (British ASW frigate) and USS Ticonderoga (US AEGIS cruiser). I let the Random generator name my bird of prey, When I get a K'tinga I may name it after brushing up on my Klingon.

I was stationed on the Nimitz. I'd be damned if I had named my ship that... haha

Mine is Woglinde from Xenosaga. Plan on using another name from that series. Love it so much.

U.S.S. Valhalla. I used to run a Star Trek PBEM RPG a million years ago, and the ship the players were on was called the Valhalla, an Ascension class dreadnaught (basically, a refitted Constitution class with a third nacelle on top; it's over there on my profile pic). Those ships aren't cannon in the lore, so she will have to wind up being a plain ol' refitted Constitution, alas. Also, I'll name the Miranda class the U.S.S. Falcon, based off an even older game I ran. (When they were called Avenger class ships).

My Federation character is of unknown decent, His name is T'Onn. His ship is called the U.S.S. Ghost.

I know they might seem kind of weird, But I named them in remembrance of my dad who passed on back in November 2009. Being as his name was Tonn and his nickname was Ghost. :)

    USS Elysian Shade

I am a long time CoH player and my main over there is a defender named Elysian Shade. Secret ID is Desiree Yarakova. So for STO I swapped it around. Capt is Desiree Yarakova. Ship is named Elysian Shade.

Name is a play on Elysium from Greek Mythology and an archaic term for ghost or spirit. :)

U.S.S. Bastogne - named after the town in WWII where the US Airborne held out against the German advance during the Battle of the Bulge. Since I plan on flying a cruiser and tanking, I thought I'd show my respect to those men who stood like a rock against Hitler's last major assault.

Captain Valancy Redfern of the USS Bluecastle.

Name taken from the novel by L.M. Montgomery called, "My Blue Castle". It's my wife's favorite book. The main character's name is Valancy Redfern (after she gets married).

The books main point is that Fear is a cancer that destroys people, and limits there lives to small things.

    Her profession? Tactical. :D

I've healed or tanked every game I've ever played. Time for some DPS. ;)

USS Stewart- Miranda class (mostly). In keeping with the Shakespearean theme of the class name I chose one of the most famous Shakespearean actors from the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
