_USS Deus Irae_ - Translated loosely, "God of Wrath." It's what I named my old Trans Am and since I don't have it anymore, why not? The idea for the name name is a slight word play on Mozart's Reqiuem, the "Dies Irae" or Day of Wrath/Judgement Day; Also a novel by Philip K TRIBBLE.
I just hit the random button a ton of times until I saw something decent. Harrison is the local hospital where I was born so though, might as well keep it.
Besides, I don't plan to be in that ship long enough to care about the name.
USS Akwete. It was the name a random name generator from another MMO gave me. I played that character for 4 years, so it was kinda hard not to have it part of my STO name.
USS Selma, for a great woman whos cancer count went from 2k to 8k in a month, not to bring these wonderful forums down, but lets enjoy the ride while we can.
BTW I was a basher of this aspect of the game goin from hardcore to semi arcade-y, but i love me some ST so Cryptic can TRIBBLE on it and Ill still pay at this time.
All of mine are named after Meteorlogical Satellites except for Telstar which is named after the 1st satellite to transmit television, telephone, and fax thru space and SeaWiFS as that is just a sensor package.
Starting Ship - U.S.S. Telstar
Science Vessel - U.S.S. Envisat
Research - U.S.S. MetOp-A
Long Range - U.S.S. NOAA-1
Deep Space - U.S.S. Meteosat
Reconnaissance - U.S.S. SeaWiFS
note: SeaWifS is a NASA Scientific Instrument onboard the satellite OrbView-2 (aka: SeaStar) as such I might rename that to SeaStar.
One ship name I'll use (first science vessel) will be the USS Leidenfrost. After the Leidenfrost effect. In and out of the fire (quickly) without getting burned. In CB I used the name for an escort, but I was frequently burned.
USS Valley Forge named after Valley Forge, PA. This is where Washington and is troops set up camp for the winter during the Revolutionary War. A time of great suffering but at the same time great reconstruction for the army.
I haven't decided if I am going to stick with that name throughout or change though.
My starting ship for my main, Blackavaar is the U.S.S. Watership Down. It was my favorite book as a child. His second ship will be called the U.S.S. Strangelove. One of my favorite films.
I started a Borg character with my friend earlier today. I haven't played him much yet, but his starter ship is called the U.S.S. Borgnine, after Ernest and as a play on the word Borg.
Comments
Cruiser (Vesper) - USS Nelson (as in the English Lord Admiral of historic importance)

Exploration Cruiser (Galaxy Variant) - USS Raleigh (as in Sir Walter, a man of historic importance from an exploratory point of view)
In commemoration of all the crew members killed to nearby explosions.

Fenrir, in Norse mythology, is a gigantic wolf that kills Odin during Ragnorok.
All my ships are going to be named after characters in Norse mythology. My main ship in T5 is going to be Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse.

See you in game
After the late, great talk show host.
I named my ship after the town where I spent my undergrad years, San Marcos, TX. Best six (yes six) years of life!
The next will be the USS Iroqois, then the Huron, then the Toronto.... Basically I'm going all out patriot... :P

Named after Aleister Crowley to emphasize the madness and mayhem of it's operations.
