Awesome. Always nice to see other Outlaw Star fans about. I've seen a few Gene Starwinds running around, always makes me smile.

Same here. I ended up liking Cowboy Bebop as well, but Outlaw Star will always be my favorite of the two.

Well, as you might expect I have a ship based on an Anime as well, however, I'll start with my main:

I first started role playing with Dungeons and Dragons, and created a main character named Brandon Dragoncove. When I played Earth and Beyond a few years back, I created Dragoncove as my main character. I pictured him as a Han Solo kind of rogue, the kind of guy who pieced his ship together with duct tape and baling wire, and knew people that "nice people" don't normally associate with. As my Captain in STO he's essentially the same, my bio tells about how he had been arrested by Star Fleet and was on his way back to a starbase for trial when his ship got involved in the Borg attack on the Khitomer.

As my main Captain, his name is Brynden Dragoncove, and he has two main ships and his shuttle, now:

U.S.S. Glimithar - Heavy Cruiser - Brandon's primary weapon in D&D was a battle axe named Glimithar. His ship in E&B was named Glimithar as well, and vaguely axe-shaped, with a notched, saucer-shaped hull and cargo pods coming out the back. (It was a Terran Trader ship) In STO I tried to keep the notched look, with the warp nacelles stagged so they look like Dragoncove just threw them together.

U.S.S. Zayra - Advanced Escort - Zayra was a small dragon that Brandon had as a pet. Named after the Masterharper's fire lizard Zair in the Pern series. I tried to make the Zayra look like a dragon, with the triangular hull instead of the round one, and the little spars underneath it to look like claws.

U.S.S. Donford - Type 8 Shuttle - This is the Glimithar's shuttle, so it has the Glimithar's registration number with "-a" tacked on since they game currently doesn't let you use "-1" (Hopefully they will soon) Donford and Tarkin were Brandon's mules, and I will probably get a Runabout and call it Tarkin. Or perhaps a Captain's Yacht.

My secondary Captain is based on the Anime Plastic Little. Her first name is Tita, but I called her Tita Readman after Read or Die as well. Many of her references are crossovers between the two, although the ships are all currently named after Plastic Little characters.

My crews actually cross over with each other, and I consider them all the same crew, just with four ships instead of two. Tita is on Dragoncove's crew, and Dragoncove is on Tita's. It's just the Engineer tends to take over command of the Cruisers, while the Science Officer takes over on the Science Ships. :D

U.S.S. Cha Cha Maru - Long Range Science Vessel. - Eventually, I plan on this being a Deep Space Science Vessel. The original Cha Cha Maru was much taller than it was wide, and the DSSV seems to be the closest to that. I'm using the LRSV with the spars extending down from the engines, and I may keep this ship under a different name. Tita's first Science Vessel was named Cha Cha Maru too, but I ended up renaming it, below. I'm also not going with the "-A -B" convention, I don't want to bother with that. I'm just pretending it's the same ship. :D

U.S.S. Balboa - Heavy Escort - Tita's weapons expert on the Cha Cha Maru was named Balboa, so I went with that name for the ship. It's based on the shuttlepod for the Cha Cha Maru, but that didn't actually have a name. So I went with the guy who usually piloted it.

U.S.S. Junior - Science Vessel - The little first science ship Tita got was so cute I couldn't stand to delete it, so I ended up keeping it. The name is actually from Read or Die, although it refers to the character from Xenosaga as well.

U.S.S. Nichol - Type 8 Shuttle - Nichol was Tita's pilot and would-be boyfriend. :D I thought it was perfect for the little shuttle, plus I have a comic where is says that he is a racer, too. So I will probably replace it with the Delta Flyer eventually.

My Klingon Captain, Blayyde, is an Orion, and not exactly loyal to the KDF. So far, though, all of her ship names have been randomly generated. So nothing interesting there.

I recently created a Catian character that I'm just starting out. I actually got her a Runabout right away, since I wanted to go through the Lt levels in it. So I paid the full 300,000 energy credits, back before the new mission came out. The character's name is M'Gwaine, and she's based on a D&D character like Dragoncove. In STO, she is the sister of one of Dragoncove's crew, another Caitian named N'Gus. N'Gus kind of fell in with the wrong crowd, until Dragoncove rescued him, and M'Gwaine has been looking for him.

U.S.S. Crystal - Runabout - Morgwaine, the D&D character M'Gwaine is based on, had a crystal sword.

U.S.S. Catspaw - TOS Constitution - I wanted to play this, but I'm going to wait until I get out of the Lt levels to use it, again, for more of a challenge. I named it Catspaw after the TOS episode, and the fact that its captain is a cat, of course.

Like Tita, M'Gwaine is intended to be part of Dragoncove's crew, and will be once I can have Caitians as bridge crew. Right now, N'Gus is an Alien, but I want him to be a "true" Catian too, of course. Blayyde will probably also be joining Tita's crew as a diplomatic transfer.

And of course, I'm all ready to do the Vault mission on her, since I already have the shuttle. So I don't need to come up with a third name for it. :D

USS Kearsarge - my dad served on the carrier. Not the current one, the one before it.

USS Crazy Horse - comedy RP ship from the old Fidonet TREK echo, I was PseudoScience Officer.

USS Banhammer - picked for me by the folks in the IRC channel, too funny to resist.

IKS Ban'leth - the obvious adjunct to the above.

When I can name my runabout, it'll be the Micanope.

I really have no idea why I used the Spanish word for butcher shop as a ship name.

As someone who owns the updated Star Trek Encyclopedia, the Franz Joseph Starfleet Technical Manual, a copy of Ships of the Star Fleet 2290-2291, damn near every Trek novel published in the 1990s, and two bookcases full of 20th-century European history books, I am basically never short of decent names. The following are the ones I've used for my current sci Saurian character.

USS Tashkent, Shi'Kar class Light Cruiser

I always like to use names from Russian and Soviet history, and this one is named after the current capital of Uzbekistan (and former rest stop on the Silk Road).

USS Mantell, Nova class Science Vessel

A little joke on my part, the Mantell is named after the 19th century English geologist and paleontoligist Gideon Mantell, whose main claim to fame was discovering the dinosaur Iguanadon (cuz, you see, dinosaurs and Saurians, dur hur hur).

USS Brian Aldiss, Stargazer class Heavy Cruiser

I didn't really like the designs of the research science vessels, so I went with a heavy cruiser. The name's another joke on my part; most ships in Trek named after SF authors are named after American authors from the golden age of John W. Campbell and the pulps, so I thought it'd be kinda funny to name a ship after someone from the British New Wave, particularly someone who wasn't a fan of TOS back when it was originally airing. Thankfully, Aldiss is a kickass author, so I can forgive him his human failings.

USS Pathfinder, Intrepid class Long Range Science Vessel

This is a shout-out to the USS Pathfinder that appeared in the Shatnerverse novel Preserver. (Yes, I read the Shatnerverse. I know it's basically Kirk****, but there are some cool ideas hidden away in those books.) It seemed like a great name for an Intrepid class ship.

USS Marignano, Oracle class Deep Space Science Vessel

My pride and joy, this ship is a reference to a ship in the awesome TNG novel Intellivore that had the sort of backstory you'd expect a DSSV to have; lots of time out on its own, wandering through the cosmos exploring stuff, but with enough engine and weapon power to look after itself.

USS Thuban, Polaris class Reconnaissance Science Vessel

I'd originally named this ship the Iapetus, after the moon of Saturn, before deciding to redo the hull into a Polaris class one. Since the Luna class went with a lunar naming theme, I figured that the Polaris class used a stellar naming theme. After a quick trawl through Wikipedia star name list, I chose "Thuban" after discovering it translates from Arabic into "snake" (reptiles hurr durr). A few days later, a little further research reminded me that Thuban is a star in the constellation Draco that, thanks to galactic evolution, actually was the North Star about half a million years ago. Totally unintentional, but I really like the name.

USS Pathfinder II, Intrepid class Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit

What can I say? I really like the name. It's also a memorial to the original Pathfinder from Preserver, which came to a tragic end after body-slamming the planet Halkan.

    It's a long story.

USS Kronstadt, Sovereign/Imperial hybrid class Assault Cruiser

Part of my lamentable attempts to fit out a cruiser to handle combat in B'Tran, this one's named after the famous Russian naval base in the Baltic. It's basically a Sovereign hull with the Imperial neck pod sticking out where the main shuttlebay was. Depending on my mood, I say it's part of an prototype ECM system that was never widely implemented in the fleet, or it's the Federation's biggest heat sink (on the plus side, the ship's holodecks can run Crysis at 60 FPS).

    Addenda:

USS Iapetus, Luna class Reconnaissance Science Vessel

Formerly the USS Thuban, I changed the name back to Iapetus after I noticed some texture problems with the paint schemes on the Polaris hull parts. Thankfully, the Luna parts don't have this problem.

USS Harrisburg, Excelsoir class Heavy Cruiser Retrofit

I bought this on a whim a while back, but I've since refurbished it and use it primarily for my daily emblem grind. I named it after a city in Pennsylvania I rode through once during a trip to Washington DC; it seemed like a nice enough place. It was kind of hard to come up with a good name for this one; I'd originally named it the USS Righteous after the ship in the old Star Trek: Borg FMV game, but I decided I wanted a more modest name. Since Excelsiors seem to be usually named after either old Constitution-class ships or places/figures from American history, I figured "Harrisburg" was a fairly appropriate choice. Ever since the Harrisburg came along, the Krondstadt's spent a lot of time in spacedock.

USS Proxima, Nebula class Advanced Research Science Vessel Retrofit

I got the Nebula mostly out of a completist's desire; I still haven't decided how I should use it in my fleet. I named it the Proxima after a canon ship; I think it was one of the ships the Dominion blew up in the Gamma Quadrant at the end of season 2 of DS9. It's a nice sciency name, though if I ever get around to getting some Borg tech I may change its name to USS Douglass, after an assimilated Nebula class ship from Star Trek: Armada 2. Well, that or USS Tonawanda...or USS Caddebostan. I may change my mind later.

    USS Pechora, Danube class Runabout

Yes, the runabout I bought about two weeks before the price drop. I stuck with the naming scheme from the series; this one is named after a big ol' river in the Russian Arctic.

    Hammersmith, Type-8 Shuttlecraft

The shuttle I got during the Vault daily; in-universe attached to the Marignano. Named it after a bourough of London, haven't touched it since I got it. I like my runabout better anyway.

I think I may have posted way, way, way upthread; but I've added some ships since then and characters as well. I'll try to write this in a sort of formal tone simply because that way I can copy-paste it to a text file to keep track of things. It might sound more stuck-up than intended because of that; but this way I can stay organized for a change. (I've been meaning to do this for ages, this is a good excuse.)

So a rundown, by character -

    Captain¹ Yumii Agoshi, UFPMC -

    Ships in Service:

USS Courtain - Named after the sword, Courtain (AKA Curtana); the sword of Ogier the Dane. Current ship. Assault Cruiser.

USS Joyeuse - Named for the sword of Charlemagne, 'Joyous'; supposedly it, Courtain and Durendal are forged of the same material. Supposedly the sword is on display at the Louvre. Star Cruiser.

USS Durendal - Named after the sword of Roland. All three of these ships are sourced from the Matter Of France. Galaxy Refit.

    Former Commands:

USS Galatine - Sword of Gawain from Arthurian legend. Deep Space Science Vessel.

USS Almace - Sword of Turpin, the Archbishop of Reims. Also from the Matter of France. Heavy Cruiser.

USS Heracles - Named for the Greek hero, Herculese/Heracles. Runabout.

USS Ahmad ibn Fadlan - Named for the Arab diplomat and traveler. Shuttlecraft

    Special Commander² Avellen Llaei -

    Ships in Service:

USS Teressa: Named for a character from the manga, Claymore; Teressa of the Faint Smile. Current Ship. Fleet Escort. (I doubt Mother Teresa would appreciate a warship named for her >.> I'm just sayin'.)

USS Galatea: Named for a character from the manga, Claymore; 'God Eye' Galatea. Advanced Escort

USS Miata: Named for a character from the manga, Claymore; Miata. Defiant Refit.

    Captain¹ Abigail Skeffington -

    Ships in Service:

USS Citadel Athena: An off-take of the Acropolis of Athens (which is also known as the Citadel of Athens); and since the Acropolis has the Parthenon, temple of Athena... you get the idea. Star Cruiser.

    Former Commands:

USS Pallas: After an alternate name for Athena. (Pallas Athena) Exploration Cruiser.

USS Nike: After the name of Victory personified. Greek myth. Heavy Cruiser.

USS Bia: After the name of Force personified. Greek Myth. Cruiser.

USS Athena: After the Greek goddess. Light Cruiser.

    Former Commands:

IKS Enyo: After a minor Greek war goddess, sister to Ares. B'rel Bird of Prey.

[***CLASSIFIED***] Section 31 Operative; Codename 'Queen'

    Highlight to read...

[***REDACTED***] USS Pawn - After the chess piece. Runabout.

Lt. Commander 'Cally' Kaleidoscope (Sentient Hologram), UFP Entertainment Corps

    Ships in Service:

USS Pulse - After the idea of pulsing music and lights from the ship's multiple dance clubs. (The USS Pulse is primarily outfitted as a mobile R&R station, for UFP personnel near the front lines.) Current Ship. Science Vessel.

    Former Commands:

USS Glow - After the soft lighting used on most of this ship's non-holodeck recreation areas. Light Cruiser.

Commander Lauren, AKA Sixteen of Two-Hundred Thirty, Starfleet Search and Rescue

    Ships in Service:

USS Hope's Promise - As a rescue ship, it is exactly what you hope to see if you are stranded in space; and since it's already there, the promise of that hope is already fulfilled. (Sentimental Borg Captains, who knew?) - Current Ship. Research Science Vessel.

    Former Commands:

USS Jubilant Star - A cause for celebration when everything on your ship has gone dark.

USS Joy - The emotion a survivor is likely to feel when seeing a Search and Rescue vessel inbound.

    ====================================================================================

And that's it. Every single ship any of my characters still have. Some haven't done The Vault yet, hence the lack of shuttles on several. Hope you enjoyed that as much as I did typing it. Now for the copy-pasta.

    ====================================================================================

    1. Characters with 1 at their rank indicate they're leveled to VA1, but that I prefer to use a lesser rank as my official rank for RP purposes.

    2. Avellen is... not just one person. She's a group of psychically linked clones that are somewhere between one collective entity and linked individuals. Starfleet wasn't entirely sure how to handle it at first and just settled on 'Special Commander' as a collective rank for the entire group. Given that they crew the entire ship, it works out.

    3. Mao in this context being the name of a species, which itself is named after the Chinese word for "cat". Just so you don't get the wrong idea. Klingon side.

    4. Long, long story... Amazonian Orion Pirates; yes it's weird, but it's fun too, so I ran with it.

    5. This is castling.

    I'll jump on that bandwagon!

My tactical captain is Spanish, so all ships have the spanish tinge to them. So far I have:
    • U.S.S. Lope de Vega (light criuser) - named for the Spanish playwright of the golden century
    • U.S.S. Andalusia (escort) - named for the region in Spain
    • U.S.S. Madrid (heavy escort) - named for the capital city
    • U.S.S. Manzanares (runabout) - named for a river running through the capital city
    • U.S.S. Alcazar (advanced escort) - named for the Alc

Currently, I'm flying a Galaxy. USS Brava. It's a reference to the old Horizons attraction at Epcot Center. The name of one of the locations on the ride was Brava Centauri, a space station. So as a tribute to one of my all-time favorite rides, I chose to call my Galaxy Brava! And I just really love the sound of it, too.

I'll put down a few ship names of mine, commanded by a few characters of mine...

For my main tactical captain I choose:
U.S.S. Si Long, Defiant/Gallant/Vigilant hybrid class Tactical Escort Retrofit

The true origin of this name is lost to me, but part of the name means "Dragon" in Mandarian Chinese. Originally I was trying to look up articles pertaining to Chinese mythological beasts, while I was getting the Tactical Escort Retrofit.
U.S.S. Huang Long, Defiant class Tactical Escort

This name I choose as one of the beasts in the Four Symbols in Chinese mythology (representing the center element). This name I really liked best out of the names I used for my ships.
U.S.S. Liu Bei, Akira/Oslo/Zephyr hybrid class Heavy Escort

I named this heavy hitter of an escort after a wise military general, Liu Bei, made famous in the" Romance of the Three Kingdoms" historical novel.
U.S.S. Guan Yu, Ushann class Escort

I named this Escort after a legendary Chinese halbred-wielding general, Guan Yu, made famous in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" historical novel.
U.S.S. Sun Ce, Shi'Kahr/Centaur hybrid class Light Cruiser

This was the very first ship I used when Star Trek Online launched. I named this ship after a tragic general of the Three Kingdoms (late Han Dynasty) period of China. The name means "Little Conquerer", which I thought was fitting due the game's release at the time. Sadly, I never kept the ship.
U.S.S. Two Qiaos, Danube class Runabout

I choose this name after the two sisters of the Three Kingdoms period of China, however, their given names remains historically unrecorded. The Elder and Younger Qiao sisters were married to Sun Ce and Zhou Lu respectively.

For my main science captain I choose:
U.S.S. Microburst, Nebula/Magellan hybrid class Advanced Research Science Vessel Retrofit

This pelicular name I got after reading some weather-related articles. I was going for some wind-related weather hazards for several science ships.
U.S.S. Cyclone, Intrepid/Discovery hybrid class Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit

I choose this name after a weather pattern. I found it a little odd naming after "Cyclone", but I kept the name anyway.
U.S.S. Stormfire, Luna/Polaris hybrid class Reconnaissance Science Vessel

This name was inspired by "a combination of Earth's weather patterns and the burning flame of humanity", so to speak...

For my main engineering captain I choose:
U.S.S. Yagyu, Celestial/Galaxy hybrid class Exploration Cruiser Retrofit

I named this ship after a famous historical and romanticized samurai of Japan's feudal era, Yagyu Jubei Mitsuyoshi. I choose this name because I wanted to have a "samurai" feel to it.
U.S.S. Kiryu, Excelsior Refit hybrid class Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit

This name's meaning can be translated as "Metal Dragon" in Japanese, and is also the name of a Japanese city in the Gunma Prefecture of Kanto Region in Japan.
U.S.S. Miyamoto, Sovereign class Assault Cruiser

This ship is named after a famous Japanese swordsman and samurai, Miyamoto Musashi. He is famous for his duels, especially of his famous duel with Japanese swordsman Sasaki Kojirou, and stories of swordsmanship. Miyamoto is the author of "The Book of the Five Rings" and is the founder of the Niten Ichi-ryu style of swordsmanship.

Aside from the Danube Class Runabout, most of my ships are named after neighborhoods or streets in the San Fernando Valley. The rest are because I felt like it.

USS Laurel Canyon (Excelsior Class refit) after the Blvd

USS Northridge (Nebula Class refit) after the neighborhood and the California State University I attended. That and a lot of Star Trek TV and the latest movie filmed there. Out library is the Starfleet command building Kirk and McCoy walk down the stairs of. Yay! You might find me in that scene if you know what I look like...

USS Sherman Oaks (Vesper Class cruiser) is after the neighborhood I live in.

USS Van Nuys (Galaxy Class refit) is after the other neighborhood I lived in.

USS Santa Monica (Intrepid Class refit) is after the city I worked in and liked the most.

USS Manila Bay (Sovereign Class cruiser) is after the city I was born in.

USS Kongo (Constitution Class light cruiser) is after a reference to ST:VI

USS Starfire (Prometheus class escort) is because it sounded cool.

USS Balacan (Danube Class runabout) is named for a river in the Philippines.

I love these topics. Moving through my characters

                            Astarielle: Sci VA
T1: Miracle, from the scene in Sacrifice of Angels
                            T2: Osaka. Need I explain
                            T3: Heir of Breath

                            My vessels are as follows:

                            USS Valkyrie: Assault Cruiser
USS Midgard: Long range science vessel refit
                            USS Valhalla: Tactical Escort Refit
                            USS Mjolnir: Advanced Escort
                            USS Beowulf: Delta Flyer
USS Amora: Type 8 shuttle craft

My vessels are all named after elements from Norse Mythology (on tribble I have the USS Gungnir, named for the spear of Odin). I am something of an amateur authority on Norse Myths and legends so I thought it fitting to name my vessels after them.

@mistformsquirrel: Heracles (Hercules being the roman equivalent of the greek legend) does not have an E at the end. Sorry, I suffer mild OCD and spelling is one of my vices.

USS Geronimo - Named after the prominent Native American leader of the Chiricahua Apache who fought against Mexico and the United States and their expansion into Apache tribal lands for several decades during the Apache Wars (but really I thought it was a good excuse to use the catchphrase used by the 11th incarnation of the Doctor from BBC sci-fi drama series Doctor Who of which I am a massive fan of).

Some of the names I've picked (I'm not sure if I've posted in this thread yet, but here goes):

                            With my tac VA:

                            Tier 1
                            - U.S.S. Adelbert Ames NCC-103135/103135-A (Shi'Kahr hull, Miranda nacelles and rollbar, Centaur pylons): Named for a Civil War general who lived in the town I live in, and is buried right up the street from my house. I actually used the A when I was in beta, and the no-letter version in live.

                            Tier 2
-U.S.S. Benjamin Butler NCC-110518 (Constitution saucer, Excalibur nacelles and hull, Vesper neck and pylons): Another Civil War general who lived in this area, and is also buried up the street (Ames was his son-in-law).
-U.S.S. Admiral Tennant NCC-121890 (Mish-mash of the Rapier and Ushaan, I forget the combo exactly): Named for Sir William Tennant, a British officer during WWII.

                            Tier 3
-U.S.S. Adelbert Ames NCC-103135-B (Unmodified Akira): See above.

                            Tier 4
-U.S.S. Lowell NCC-311826 (Unmodified Galaxy): The city I live in.
-U.S.S. Argent Dawn NCC-112404 (Unmodified Defiant): Named for the organization in World of Warcraft.

                            Tier 5
-U.S.S. Adelbert Ames NCC-103135-C (Unmodified Prometheus): Later scrapped this when I got the retrofit escort.
-U.S.S. Argent Crusade NX-111408 (Unmodified Defiant Retrofit): The "upgraded" Argent Dawn, so to speak.
-U.S.S. Lowell NX-311826 (Galaxy Dreadnought): Decided to give the old girl a "refit". *grin*
-U.S.S. Benjamin Butler NX-110518-A (Unmodified Excelsior Retrofit, Original Configuration): Figured it was a natural progression from the Constitutions.
-U.S.S. Adelbert Ames NCC-103135-D (Unmodified Galaxy Retrofit): You notice a theme here?

Now with my KE officer, General Devaneaux, the progression was simpler, lol:

-IKS Devaneaux's Fury (Unmodified B'Rel): Starter ship. I also have this as the retrofit.
-IKS VeS'puq (Somraw Raptor): "Warchild". This became the name of my shuttle.
-IKS Hovpuq (K't'inga): "Star child", referring to the Gorak'nar race that I created, and was able to give some kind of form in STO. Both Underwood and Devaneaux have two Gorak'nar officers on their ships.
-IKS Kelenek'che'sa (Vor'cha): "Halls of the Blind" in the Gorak'nar language. It refers to a planet where Devaneaux, then in Starfleet, had fought against the evil "Divine Alliance" twenty-two years before STO. I also have this as the retrofit.
                            -IKS VeS'jach (Negh'var): "Warcry".
-IKS Terminus Est (Kar'Fi): Latin for "this is the end". Named for the ship from Warhammer 40,000. Figured it was appropriate for a ship with fire coming out of its engines, heh.

My science officer's also had only a handful:

-U.S.S. Admiral Cole NCC-912006 (same configuration as the first two Ameses, heh): Named for a friend of mine.
-U.S.S. Massachusetts NCC-261788 (Nova with...I think I put the Aurora saucer on it, tried to make it look like the Nova/Rhode Island refit): Fits naming these ships after small New England states (I had a roleplaying ship, the New Hampshire, that followed this doctrine, lol).
-U.S.S. Thomas Makem NX-110432 (Olympic hull and nacelles, Horizon pylons and saucer): Named for Tommy Makem, the Bard of Armagh - probably the greatest Irish singer of all time.
-U.S.S. Gilneas NX-120710 (Nebula): Named to honor the worgen homeland in the (at the time) upcoming Cataclysm expansion - I got the ship in November, heh.

My Fed is driving the U.S.S. Eisenstein of WH40K (Horus Heresy) fame.

My Klink uses the random name generator since, eh, I don't know more than two or three words of Klingon. (Yeah, I know there are translators out there, but still) :(

I use Eisenstein in one of my forum-based RPGs. (Set about twenty years before this, but eh.) My crew keep calling it the Einstein...I have to go in and keep correcting them, lol. If I get one of the C-Store ships for my KDF engineer, I'm looking at naming it Vengeful Spirit, from the HH novel series.

I've gone for USS Shackleton for my DSSV.

I'm sure you all know of Ernest Shackleton and the feat of navigation he pulled off! If not, do google it!

                            U.S.S Hastings - My Hometown
U.S.S Hobbit - LC Tact Ship looks like a Hobbit among other ships, and i am a fan of Lord of the Rings :P

                            And the,
                            USS Grunion

The Grunion was a Gato-class submarine that was sunk at Kiska, Alaska, during World War II. She was the only ship of the United States Navy to be named for the grunion, a small fish of the silversides family, indigenous to the western American coast.

My Great Uncle was aboard this submarine when it was sunk.
Also within the last 5 years there was an expedition to go find it, and they did!!!!
                            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Grunion_(SS-216)

So my ship is a dedication to the Grunion and her crew!

                            Advanced Heavy Cruiser Refit:-
USS Nautilus - Always had a thing for submarine stories... Which may be why I like the TOS era movies so much. Would have called one ship USS Dallas, but I knew I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about the soap opera whenever I saw the ship.

                            DSSV:-
USS Earhart - Named after THE female aircraft pilot, which suited my female toon. Would have named it Nellie Bly (after a 19th century female journalist), but the name sounded a bit silly.

                            Negh'Var:-
IKS Red October - Named after the stealth submarine in "the Hunt for Red October", not named after what the submarine was named after.

Since the first day of open beta, my ship has been called the U.S.S. Galileo, after the NCC-1701/7 shuttlecraft of the same name. I've just always loved that shuttle.

I like it when my characters have certain "themes" for their ship names.

My science admiral has his ships named after synthpop bands from the 80s.

                            USS New Order
                            USS Camouflage
                            USS Alphaville
                            USS Ultravox
                            USS Depeche Mode
                            USS Wolfsheim

The tac admiral has his ships named after roman emperors.

                            USS Augustus
                            USS Mark Aurel
                            USS Vespasian

And then some shuttles and minor ships are named after my home town and country or famous places here.

                            USS Bayern
                            USS Nymphenburg
                            USS Muenchen
