    New Servers?

We can only hope. If that was the case though, I would have thought it would be mentioned in the announcement.

I think I'll go watch some Star Trek: TOS on CBS.com or maybe throw in TNG or Voyager to pass the time, If you can't play it might as well watch it. Just wish I could find DS9 streaming onlne, haven't had the money to pick those up yet. Although I did just get the season 7 of Voyager recently which was all I was missing from TNG and Voyager:D

I have a theory about all these downtimes that happen to occur about 6:30.

It occurs to me that they would be getting off of work about 6:30. What to do after along days work? How about some STO? But there is a problem: "The server is to busy right now. Please try again later."

The Solution? Why "Emergency Maintenance" of course!

While I'm somewhat disappointed that I can't play tonight, the simple truth is this:

The beta test does not exist for our entertainment or convenience.

It exists for the convenience and expedience of the developers, so they can find and fix problems with the game.

I'm not sure why this concept eludes so many people, when it seems so patently obvious.

Should give me time to update to windows 7! Let them take the servers down whenever they want, it will improve stability and gameplay once we get to the official launch :) I'm taking it to mean that the population is soooo massive they need to do maintenance to eliminate my wait time later!

    (glass half full) :D

I could whine...but if it gets better for the outage then so much the better...beta...beta...beta...(ALWAYS right when I get off work, KHAAAANN!!!!!)

Since I have to beta test server downtime....I think I'll beta test a burrito in my microwave.

I'll be eating it sometime tomorrow...

...and it'll spawn as a single bean falling through space for a bit, then transform into my beloved burrito right before it hits the tile floor.

That really has nothing to do with doing maint during the time when the most people are probably on. If Cryptic is indeed working around the clock, logic would dictate they do their maint at a time when the least people are on.

Perhaps they are catering to the European players.

    :D

    Just kidding!!

please dont throw tribbles at me.

You know, isn't Janeway's hair in that season just awesome? I mean some serious hairspray or gel goin on with it, but still it looked good. "There's coffee in that nebula!"

Last night's maintenance allowed me to get a full night's sleep.
However, now that I'm rested, tonight's maintenance is forcing me to go finish Chapter 4 of Tales of Monkey Island... which is actually a good thing...

So, thanks for the maintenance! Maybe my family life will be saved if they do this every night at dinner time. :)

So they just bumped it up to 3 hours. Again, moronic decision? Yeah I am sure fixes gotta go in. But don't BS us and say it's brief. It's not brief. This kills everyone's testing time for this game.

And for those who are unsure about the game right now, you are willing to bet this is turning them off.

Oh, maybe you should tell us why it's necessary to have it down three hours huh? I purchased lifetime, a lot of us did, we should know what we are paying for, right?

There's something seriously odd with this board's code in high-volume threads. People quote posts that don't actually appear until pages later.

It's like a stable time loop.

...maybe we can skip ahead to when the servers are back up! We'll need an inverse tachyon beam and seventeen thousand self-sealing stem bolts.

If they are stress testing the patcher servers then taking it down during what most in the US consider "Prime Time", then this is all part of the plan. The plan that we the public are not privy to.

I hope they fix the beaming into space as my character and the beaming into ground combat as my ship. Those two bugs are becoming really frustrating... The falling in space and the no bofs on the ground.

Maybe add in a way to change/swap your bofs while in a ground mission? It happens in the show, "You, beam back to the ship and send down what's his name"

    #1, It's their servers.

#2, the problems they are fixing might just be tied to the heavy load during the prime hours, as such warrants a fix as fast as possible to get the servers back up to get the load back on the server to test the fixes.

#3, it is FREE BETA.. you are not paying for it and they are not paying you to play. This is the time they use (Beta) to fix and troubleshoot the game. Downtime is to be expected frequently as fixes are made and implimented and tested.

#4, the Beta Test is to check for problems and bugs to get fixed, not for people to unwind and play casually when getting off of work. That is what Live servers are for Starting Feb. 3, 2010 (or head start).
