thedeerhunter1982 - Don't do this. Just run the dxdiag.exe like I said. It will give you the same info and more but also in a printable form that you can copy and paste. Much easier.

Yup, as WK mentioned, a dxdiag report will give much more concise information.

I know what you mean. I been working in IT since 1996. Was an Desktop Support, System and Network Administrator for Unix, Linux, Novell, Apple and Windows. With the IT bubble burst I am now in IT sales. I have worked on older 8808 and all x86 platforms from 286's on up. I have worked on Dell, emachines, Gateways, Sony, HP, Compaq, and no name clones. All my fiends ask for my help. I really enjoy IT. Working on PC for me is like how other people like working on their cars. It's great fun most for the time.

Yeah, I made the mistake of not covering up my IT experience and IT work background in my current job (I'm a software engineer). Our main IT guy is ok, but he's no hardware enthusiast or troubleshooting guru. My co-workers end up skipping him and come right to me. Sometimes I wished I just said I know nothing about PCs when the first co-worker asks, lol.

On forums, it's much more relaxing to help. In-person at work it's just frustrating since other people's PC issues are always breaking my focus on coding. Always lose my train of thought after that.

From what I see here you have should be able to run at very high.:D Without your monitor model number I have no ideal what it is. Go for a 22" or better. Samsung and Viewsonic makes that best 2 ms gaming monitors. LG has a new line of HD 1080p monitors. I just haven't read any reviews yet.

Sorry, your CPU is a single core. Minimal Specs says an dual-core. Need a new system.

Sorry, just notices "2 CPU". I am not a engineer, cipher_nemo who understands programing would be more able to explain why 2 P4's won't be be able to run this game. As I understand it the instruction advancement that the newer CPU's have. It P4 single core's are just too old of technologies. This game was design on dual-core CPU Tech with their advance design and programing.

Yes, it is. You are a happy camper.:D Your system will run STO on medium high to maybe high graphic.

You could go to these two sites below and run the STO test just to see what they say. The thing is this game hasn't been release yet so what we are basing it on are the "System Requirement" and our experiences.
    http://www.yougamers.com
    http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/

It's looks like your system is only like 1 1/2 years old. What monitor are you using? You're only running at 1024x768. 19" monitor?

This is a fairly upgradable unit. I would bet that Dell has a BIOS update so you could add an Q9550. You can add a after market PSU so you could upgrade the GPU. Not a bad system.

Hello. My computer has Vista, 2 gigs of memory,
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, 2000 Mhz,
and a crazy weak graphics card.
I am planning on adding two more gigs of ram and a new Graphics card.
Would this graphics card be suitable for this game, and is my proscesor going to be able to run STO? thanks.

Yes, that card will do nicely. Just make sure your PSU will support it. You will need a minimum of 400 watts with a 6 pin PCIE cable.

That's a lot harder to do. What you're need to do is open your PC and look at your PSU. Before doing this make sure "all" cables are disconnected from PC and you are grounded. Do not work on carpet! Static Electrics is very bad! It will have a tag on it that will look something like this.
Were look for 400 watts or better. On the tag you should see a "+12V" and right below it a Max Current of at least "18A". The 6 pin look like this.
It could also like a 6+2 pin which the two pins on the side will separate to make a 6 pin. Or if you have two free 4 pin modules you could use a this.

If you need a new PSU this will be a little trickier because a lot of pre-built PC may have special shape PSU that hard to get. List the Make and model of your system so we can try to look it up. A picture of the inside of the PC would help.

I will get the info and a picture up tommorow, but where I live it is time to get some sleep. Oh and the graphics it has now are intergrated.

Here's the connector categories for modern ATX12V PSUs. Older, regular ATX PSUs will obviously be different.:
    • ATX [Rectangular, multiple colored wries, multiple voltages]: The big 24-pin, 20-pin, or 20+4 pin connector for the motherboard. PSUs should only have 1 of these connectors.
      .
    • +12V [Square or Rectangular, ground and 12V only, yellow and black wires usually]: Started with Pentium 4 motherboards. These can be anything from 4 to 8 pin 12V connectors for the motherboard. PSUs should only have 1 of these connectors.
      .
    • PCI-Express [Rectangular, ground and 12V only]: The 6-pin, 8-pin, or 6+2-pin connectors labeled PCI, PCI-E, or PCI Express for video cards. PSUs can have anywhere from 0 to 8 of these connectors, usually wired in pairs (ie: 0 to 4 pairs).
      .
    • Molex [Rectangular, ground, 12V, and 5V]: The old-school 4-pin, 4-wire connectors for drives, fans, and accessories.
      .
    • SATA [Rectangular, ground, 12V, 5V, and optional 3.3V]: The thin, multi-pin connectors (4 to 6 wires) for SATA drives and devices.
      .
    • Floppy [Rectangular, ground, 12V, and 5V]: The old-school 4-pin, 4-wire connectors for floppy drives and other accessories (smaller than Molex).

If the PSU has an 8-pin +12V connector, or a 4+4-pin one, it's most likely 750W or higher. For calculators, I'd use any of the free PSU calculators out there (on many different sites).

The ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO is not really a gaming card. It's more for movies and business apps. If you were just playing WOW it would be OK. You will need a new GPU. We'll probability need a new PSU too. Knowing Dell like I do the PSU is most likely no more that 285 to 325 watts.

Now the really big one is the CPU. Minimum system requirements calls for a Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz. You have a Intel E2200 Dual-Core 2.2GHz. Intel Core 2 Duo and Dual-Core are basically the same. Read this. The Core 2 Duo has better technology. I think you are fine. Let's see what cipher_nemo thinks.

You could go to these two sites and run the STO test. See what they said.

The STO hardware requirements are listed as being different than CO. Sure, they were built from the same engine, but they're different games with different graphical needs.

If you selected the option: "ATI Radeon 4650 1024MB [+£59.00 inc VAT]", you'd be fine.

I'd also strongly encourage you to get the "Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 [+£59.00 inc VAT]" and "Premium Corsair PSU [+£69.00 inc VAT]" options as well.

But with cheap PCs, or "value line" models, you do get what you pay for.
