I just minimised the game and loaded up task manager to see what CPU/Memory and GPU usage is like and just sitting in Dyson Commander although this was also occurring whilst in combat in Dyson my GPU usage was spiking to 100%

Currently in Dyson Cmd centre as I'm typing this and my GPU is going from 27% to 37% ect up to 100%
I have in options/advanced reduce cpu/gpu usage switched on as well as reduce CPU usage when inactive

There are 3 other things using GPU but they stay between 1.3 and 2.6%

CPU is fine around 8% in use
Memory is between 57 and 65%
    Disk is 5%

Logged out to character selection screen and GPU is now going between 37 and 75%

With the game closed my GPU fluctuates between 10 and 24%

I don't know if this could be a problem relating to freezing/stalls/rubberbanding/lag ?

Outside the Ferengi's mine in sector space and GPU is 25-44% in a less dense area

I don't know if others have experienced this problem today; I had a lot of disconnections from server and "lost server when loading" when transfer from a map to an other or when I switched from a toon to an other.. it is the first time that I have this kind of problem. I had to right click the last time of the sto icon to close the game, once and for all.

For at least a week now it's been too laggy to play. If I can log in (IF!) then in Drozana it's so laggy I've actually been kicked out of queues for not accepting despite hitting the accept button as soon as I see it.

When doing Battle for Binary Stars I bounce around the map (rubberbanding), can't turn, do no damage, blow up (from combat which probably happened a full minute before), spend a good 2 minutes hitting the respawn button before I actually respond (no that 2 minutes is not an exaggeration) and try to continue doing something to help my team before being given yet another AFK penalty for not participating.

Time of day doesn't seem to matter.

Powers? Once in a blue moon when I do damage I see that CSV does seem to be working, but who knows whether others are actually activating. I see cooldowns. Using a fleet valiant I can't seem to get my quantum warheads to fire.

I should be done the event by now as I've been trying every day (usually a few times a day at least) and I am about ready to uninstall this game. I've hopped onto another mmo minutes after sto lagfests and had no lag.

You got to love these servers. Been browsing the internet fine before logging in to the game, Watched a bit of youtube and live t.v on virgin no issues. Log into STO pick up the dailies from Command Arnold in the DBZ and can't even leave the Command Centre without rubberbanding and then between capture points boing! boing!

You know what's real fun? activating a power on ground and immediately rubberbanding. The power has activated graphically and is on the proper cooldown in the power tray but the attack doesn't actually register on the NPC.

@darkbladejk I don't need to submit a trace as I only experience lag and rubberbanding in two places. Only happens to me either on Nimbus or Nukara. Connecting from UK at around 2am - 3am PT. Fed Science Officer. Odd that is ONLY ever in those two locations, NEVER anywhere else.

Update: Had some minor lag and rubberbanding on Kobali. But nothing as severe as Nimbus or Nukara

Doing a trace and posting your computer stats etc gives them a data point they can compare to for those areas. Is it purely the endeavor farmers (definitely has an effect) or is there perhaps something else going on in those instances at that specific time. Is there large amounts of something such as Polaron Bombardment kits being used in that area at that time etc?

It's important to list your computer specs and fill out the form so they have full information to work with, otherwise they only get half the picture. they don't know what hardware you're using and if it could be related to a newer driver, an older driver etc.

There are definitely certain places within the game that experience more rubberbanding and lag than others. I've limited my time in the Dyson Ground Battlezone Friday and Sat and run a few today and the worst places I've noticed outside of social Zones and sector space are the following, worst at the top of list

    1. Dyson Contested Zone
    2. Dyson Battlezone
    3. Nukara Battlezone
    4. Crystal Cataclysm
    5. Undine Battlezone

Ok this this thread has been up since December and Ambassador Kael was collecting information back in October so its been 6 months since he took notice of the lag/rubberbanding issue. Do we have any follow up on what's going on?.

Is more data required?, You can't isolate the problem?, You have detected the issue but due to contracts can't resolve it at this time?.

    Edit

So it appears I can have over an hour on a group video call via facebook to 5 different devices in 3 different locations on 3 different ISP (Virgin/Sky and not sure of the 3rd one) 4 devices were mobile phones and the other a iPad, I was using my PC and no Lag whatsoever
Also whilst on the call was web surfing going to amazon/sky sports news/Arc Forums/You Tube and has both Google chrome and Internet explorer open.

Log into STO pick up Dyson Battlezone Dailies from Cmd Arnold and bam within 10 secs rubberbanding.

Really starting to hate the playing experience I'm getting with this game. This morning I log into a KDF Orion and run the dailies in the Dyson Battlezone with no lag or rubberbanding. Almost fell off my chair in surprise. Switched characters a couple of times to top up their dilithium and my last run on a Fed Caitlan doing dailes and V-Rex fight was a rubberband infested shitshow

Until Cryptic fixes the bugs and the huge lag problem, i refuse to give them a single cent. A company that charges hundreds of dollars but can't even give a stable bugfree game (or at least doesn't have bugs that are years and years old), doesn't deserve my money.
Also when coming back after 2 years not playing STO, spending $30 and getting hit immediately with a 7 day account probation.
This shows very little respect from cryptic towards their playerbase and, this is another reason to not spend any single cent on this game.

@ambassadorkael#6946 One thing I noticed last night, when I received an endeavor reward my game just stopped for about 5 seconds. Which use to be a slight skip. Haven't noticed this with anything else though.

This Thread was created back on the 19th of December we are nearly 4 months on and AmbassadorKael asked me for information on my Rubberbanding/Lag issues back in October 2019.

Has the Support Team got any update on what might be causing some of us to be experiencing these issues?.

Any info just so we know its still being looked into please

I'm curious about several things I know I will probably never get a reponse from the game developers on, because in reality, who am I? To them I am just another entity occupying sectors/cells in a storage drive.

    1. How big is the current player base, how many on average are playing simultaneously.
    2. In the current stack, what percentage, over requirements to meet the current demand, is available? (In strategic management, its important to be able to establish sufficient resource levels over the long run-'capacity planning' to meet your objective but also remain competitive but not excessive.)
    3. Is the current stack theoretically able to provide optimal performance for the end user based on the average number of active players accessing/utlizing the resources each day?
    4. At the time of the capacity planning, were the requirements to meet the objective different than they are today? If yes, how so?

    Thanks Much,

Today is patch day and I'm rubberbanding horrible at the Dyson ground BZ as usual. Why can't you people make a proper working game? STO has the shittiest game server I have ever played on. Seriously guys, you make this game so depressing to play.
Maybe you need to limit instances to 5 people next. Soon enough people will get sick of this TRIBBLE and it will no longer be an issue.

Its been going on for over 2 years now and steadily getting worse and has caused countless people to quit or reduce playing but its taken almost 2 years just to get them to even start a thread like this. Not sure what else we can do.

My main play time is when the server population is at the lowest and it used to be silkily smooth. Now even the quietest server times are full of lag and rubberbanding :(.

11:55am Frontier Medicine / Home mission. Was trying to do an endeavour and died twice due to lag/rubberbanding. Ran forward, rubberbanded into the plasma fire.

Spec, timezone, regional area and ISP see emails. Not putting that in public. ISP is high end.

Zero powers, was not firing weapon just running around.

I wish there was a way to turn off the rubberbanding feature that didn't involve simply not playing the game.

The pandemic seems to have had little impact on the lag/rubberbanding. Its still as bad as the past 2 years, no worse. Its already been proven the main lag/rubberbadning being experienced by many of us isn't due to server load or the amount of people online.

Ok I've avoided for the most part the Dyson Sphere Friday and Saturday and only stuck to TFO's and the Winter Wonderland. There is rubberbanding and powertray misfires occurring to different degrees, Crystal Cat for example is far worse than Counterpoint but the game is manageable. Bug hunt no issues but ISA a little rubberbanding and power misfires.

So unless its dependent on what server cluster parts of the game are loaded on The Dyson Sphere which Includes the Ground BattleZone the Contested Battlezone and Undine Battlezone are by far the biggest culprits for lag/rubberbanding/power misfires and game stalls and freezes from my experience in the game.

    April 29th #
can't even run a Crystal Cat without these servers rubberbanding or powers misfiring from the tray.

Rubber banding is so bad right now, when I transferred to the winter wonderland it took somewhere around 5-8 seconds for the zone to "load" a second time after I appeared.

Haven't had too much time to check this as of late. I do know they're still working on this try to do what they can. If I had to guess what's up my bet is they're trying to work with their ISP and Akamai which is going to be the biggest slowdown. Also doesn't help that they're out of the studio due to this virus at the moment, which is further complicating things. The key issue is how Akamai can open up more traffic for Cryptic without opening them up to DDoS attacks. Also if Cryptic did decide to switch ISPs as a hypothetical, they would need to make sure that ISP isn't using Akamai and also has proper security for them. They would also have to make sure all their ducks are in a row before they make the jump as well. It will get fixed folks, just not as fast as we would like it seems.
