I don't remember you predicting they would make a Dewan design that looked like a flying fungus.

The Andorian ships are nice, but I think this mega bundle clears up an ancient mystery: the Dewans died of embarrassment!
  • asuran14asuran14 Member Posts: 2,335 Arc User
Well looking at the Dewan ship it has a look of a drone like ship, which the Dewan had created. So if the Romulans had found either designs for one fo their unmanned drone-like ships, or even as said a prototype design of a ship, that could be what the Romulans had found an used to build this. I actually quite like the ship's design, it reminds me of the bug-ships in the sci fi show Lexx, and actually would not be against us finding maybe some members of the Dewan race that had survived the destruction of their race, and might be able to join the Romulan faction.

If they don't come with miracle worker seats I'm out. What is up with the lack of miracle worker ships? The other specializations have been done to death, especially pilot.

Dude, they're... wait for it... PILOT ships. :) The'll come with Pilot seats: or *I'm* out, LOL.

EDIT: Holy wow those Dewan ships are ugly.

Someone on channel just called them 'flying toilet brushes.' LOL. I kinda like 'em, though.

Lethean ships are pretty nice, IMHO. That 'exo-pipes' hull structure really adds a mechanical look to them.

And Andorian? The T5 ships were so TRIBBLE, I'll never fly those again. Period.

The Dewan ships look kinda shark like at the front, with fins, and Im assuming that the stuff at the back is some kind of spore drive.

I can honestly say I am not even the slightest bit tempted by this bundle.

Just not my cup of tea, nothing here looks interesting to me at all.
    Insert witty signature line here.

Andorian ones are an instant buy for me and loving the design similarity to the t5 escorts. The consoles and traits sound great too.

I like the lethean and rommie ones too but im not sure i can justify the purchase. I have 5 fedalts but only a single kdf and 2 rommies and not really sure its worth the extra cash....the extra 6k zen is a lot of slot upgrades for bank or ships.
  • lordbeefy7lordbeefy7 Member Posts: 169 Arc User
Oh i meant to say kudos to the designers of the rom and lethean ships....its a brave and bold design and its good to see the designers trying new things...thanks to them.

Oh hey, they spin. That's actually pretty cool.

I still don't like them very much, but I very much do appreciate the risks they're taking with these and the Lethean ship designs. They're odd and different and very striking. But as with all experimental ventures, you're gonna win some and you're gonna lose some. And right now, between the Dewan and Lethean ships, they're batting 50/50.

It really could be the drone designs
    Dewan sputniks and voyagers

But the dewans are extinct, sorry

    Nope, sorry

Except that if the devs wanted to they could make adjustments to lore. Hell it took months for the destruction to completely happen, and so who knows what they could come up with for how a small group might have survived in some form.

    -----------
    True ...
The mighty Dev's can do what every they want

    It is not hard
    To construct a story
    In which a secret group
of Dewans completed the first manned ship

But this ... should be far away from a colony ship

The activation of the gate caused planet wide earthquakes and vulcanic eruptions

The sun and the sky should not vanish immediately
It is also possible that the dewan infrastructure could withstood the earthquakes for a while.

And i also don't know how fast the air was polluted by the valcanic ash.
Or when the Dewans decided to go into the deep caves , deep enough so they would have enough heat to survive.

Many possibilities to get a happy ending for the Dewans

And for our sparkling ships

And any science ships that character also has. When I get something from this pack it's going to be that ship just for the trait.

The Lethean ships look awesome. I want one. (meaning all three)

I guess I'll have to pull my Lethean KDF character back into service.

Wait, Dewan? A race that's been dead for a really really long time?

Agreed. They should have designed Reman pilot ships. Would have fit much better.

Umm, you realise THE Pilot ships bundle for Romulans had Reman designs? Same as with the Dhelan variants, the T5 Scimitars and possibly more I forget. Basically whenever you get an angular, sharp design for the Romulan fraction, it's a Reman design.

Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

I'll admit after viewing that display video, ZEFILMS always does an outstanding job, I'm warming up sum to those Dewan designs, the articulated spinning gimmick puttering out particles is nice, & I also think the T6 Andorians surpassed their appearances from the screen shots. I still like the Lethean designs best for the asymmetry. I still probably won't buy the mega bundle simply because of ship saturation, since besides traits & admiralty I can still only pilot 1 ship at a time, but those that do buy I hope find enjoyment.

I'm fine with that bundle. It's nice that there's some healthy variety there, and all of those ships apparently come with full sets of consoles. Also, pilot-ships are *always* a pleasure to fly. I definately like those better than... *shudder* the UFP or KDf MW-ships...
  • smooshy#7462 smooshy Member Posts: 233 Arc User
I'll be buying the Andorian ones for sure. I already have an Andorian who has been using a kit-bashed pilot escort trying to look Andorian, so it's a perfect fit. I'd get the others (I seem to be in the minority, but I like the Dewan ships a lot, so completely different), but I can't come up with any character ideas/slots to fly them. I got too many alts as is.

Everytime Cryptic releases new designs, i sometimes think they pick the 3d program and they start doing random shapes as they go lol. Some of the times they end making nice and beautiful inventions, others like this Dewan ship... well, better to not name it.

But again, there are people out there flying the hideous discovery and the sarcophagus as well as the jj pancakes, so, i dont know why this ship will be different. People dont care anymore (since a long time ago) if a ship looks fugly as hell and they look ridiculous in space lmao.

Except for the fact that the definition of what is "fugly" and what isn't is non existent and everybody decides for themselves. I completely dislike the pancakes, don't care about the Disco ships, but I fly my Scryer, which many don't like. Not because I don't care but also because I like the design. (Of course ship performance comes first, but that alone wouldn't make me fly the JJ Enterprise)

Life lesson: Not everyone shares your taste in ships, movies, music, books, art, food, or romantic partners. That does not mean you are right and they are wrong.

Shatner is still the best Trek captain though. Anyone . . . who DISAGREES! . . . is wrong.

Stats are out - no MW seats....unbelievable. It's like they're trying to keep MW only for a handful of ships in the game. :/

Won't be getting any of these - they have nothing that other ships don't already, other than a trait or console. The science trait looks awesome, tac is ok but probably not even as good as superior pedal to the metal.

@ambassadorkael#6946 any chance the ship customization options on the dewan designs have a 'no toilet brush' option?

A R G H !!! .... they did it ... they just copied the (very old) andorian ship stats ...

    d84f1c-1518554505.png

so we get a very slow turning escort, a slow ... pilot ship ...

About the only thing I find a let down on these ships is the experimental weapons, but that is less of the weapon, and more of just again it is a omni-directional weapon on a nimble escort ship. It would be nice to see some narrow arc, weapons, which capitalize on the nimble nature of the ship, and even see some non-escort ships that have a slower turning speed get a experimental slot that the omni-directional nature would make more sense on.

The protomatter sheller kind of meets this halfway - it's omnidirectional, but does more damage on bogies in the forward arc. As for narrow-arc but very powerful 'experimental weapons' (perhaps they should be rechristened 'special weapons'?), how about an actual sniper cannons whose mechanics evolved from the Apex Predator 3-piece bonus? This is just one of many things I see little in-universe excuse for the major players' R&D lads and lasses to not have cooked up.
