If the new 'provisions' are like those dopey Provisions (Mining, Embassy, etc.) the older ones never gave Fleet Credits. They only COST you Fleet Credits. This then may be somewhat better. I always thought that those old dopey Provisions were a waste, cost but no credit.
Yeah, they were a fleet credit black hole. Not only did they not give you anything, there was no way to know who donated them.
Well I have a captain in last place on one holding with zero FCs earned. That's one way to know
Yeah I don't understand why people get excited about this.
First, most items are only unlocked after a year of grinding and waiting (probably even longer for most fleets).
Second, the last time we got a new holding with 5 tiers this game was vibrant with activity. These days, most fleets are completely deserted.
Third with the ridiculously high amount of special inputs these colony fleet projects require, most fleets will give up on building their colony long before any significant progress could be made.
As it stands at the moment regarding the provisioning and resources needed for this new holding I can only refer to a quote from Brititsh history directed at whomever is making the business decisions at Cryptic.
''you have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. in the name of god, go!''
Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.
What Cryptic is doing here is really sad because last year at this time the game was on such a good track and lot of the damage DR caused felt repaired. After S13 patched the fun out of PvE, S14 will do so for fleets now.
Druk his very much right with his 2017 statement.

It's bad enough that they are adding the blasted mini-games to just about every Featured Episode, but this is just not game friendly in the least.

OK...so they locked out the provisions minigame per character. They locked out getting any rewards from Colony Invasion to individual Fleets...because other fleets won't get the rewards if they join in.
How does this work at the ARMADA level?? Can I donate my provisions toward a Colony another Fleet in the Armada is building via the Armada tab?
This whole thing sounds incomplete.

Should they change the name of the Colony from Dranuur to Drainus?

Honestly, I think this is just an attempt to reinvigorate player activity.
Time spent ingame is decreasing, so they think the only way to solve that is to give us a reason to play more with a grind specific task. Works in theory with computer programs, not in real life with people.
I quit playing CO precisely because they had too many time intensive grinds.
Therefore I am quite displeased to see one coming to STO!
We play mmos to have fun, not to have a online virtual job.
If we're just meeting resource quotas, then it's not fun.....

And they seem to think that each Featured Episode needs one or more mini-games too.
People ground the Omega Particle mini-game nonsense because they got some value in return.

Bort gave a statement in the tribble section. Nothing concrete but one might interpret into it that they are committed to at least try to avoid the fiasco they had planned.
I'm afraid I don't currently have the cycles available to answer all of your individual concerns. But on a general note, I wanted to let you all know that we're still very much in the process of tuning the numbers for the new Fleet Commodities, both in terms of project requirements and activity rewards. We're looking to make a series of changes soon which should appear on Tribble some time next week, if all goes according to plan.
Until we've finalized what those changes will be, that's all the info I can offer for now. Please keep your constructive feedback coming, and keep an eye on Tribble Patch Notes to see if/when any of your concerns get addressed.
Thanks again for helping us test this feature before it goes live with Season 14!

WoW had an expansion with a name that sounded very similar to "Dranuur", it almost killed WoW and is widely considered to be the worst expansion that game has ever had. This fleet holding doesn't sound like it will be much better.
And all up against an October 3rd deadline. They probably have to finish up by September 29th. Good luck on scaling this back that quickly.

Or, should such scaling back not be possible within that timeframe, but still recognized as necessary, having the intestinal fortitude to come clean and say 'we have to delay because of X, Y, and Z'... and keep the community informed about how things are progressing. Remember, better late and good than on-time and wrong - recall by way of example what became of KOTOR 2, among other titles.
On another note, imagery of the new infantry weapons has surfaced (source):
longarms
heavy weapons
sidearms
These are actually decent, and yet more arguments for making weapon reskinning an option. The longarms need to lose that foregrip, however - not only is it too far forward, but the animations ignore it anyway. As long as we're here, I would like to know why the the PWAs are alone among longarms in being hip-fired outside of fine-aim mode... most of them have stocks for a reason.
Perhaps the newly announced ground and space queues should have provisions as a choice of reward? At least this would allow folks to produce them if they can't get enough fleet mates together and don't want to play a silly mini-game.
Eh, they don't look THAT similar. I saw it and instantly thought "a typical SciFi upgrade of a modern weapon, I wonder if it fires projectiles?"
We do have precedent for current-generation slugthrowers in the TR-116s and the duellist pistol; there's no reason the latter's mechanics couldn't be adapted to a range of other weapon types, complete with choice of energy 'wrapping'. The most notable thing about the pistol's mechanics is how its rapid-fire mode has a 'magazine' (something it shares with the Omega plasma torpedo launcher). Adapting these principles to an assault rifle (that the game calls them 'full-auto rifles' is a bit confusing given that actual full-auto weapons - themselves misnamed 'piercing beam rifles' - can also be had) might look something like this:
magazine size: 30 rounds (regenerates 3 per X seconds ala the abovecited weapons);
primary fire: burst (3 rounds);
alt-fire: full-auto sweep (affects up to Y targets; 3 rounds consumed per target) - mechanics question: is there a cap on how many targets this can affect?
Not filling up your inventory with provisions until they're needed for the next open project? Depository for the automatic provision production feature? Who gets to put them into projects... any member with contribution permissions?
I'd be posting this in the colony feedback thread of the test server section but this thread seems to have a wider audience and isn't tribble still only open to gold members? It is nice to get commentary and info to the masses front and centre
Edit: found two settings under permissions a) able to donate to fleet coffers b) able to use fleet coffers for projects
First of all, I'm sorry if this was posted already by another player and I just skimmed right past it...
It would be wicked cool if we could get permission to use our FLOATERS and it SURF BOARDS here on this map. It seems as if there is a nice and beautiful map here available for us to explore, and it would be amazing if we could have one more place in-game to use those devices... AND our swimwear!

Was already one of the Fleet Leaders that got both the first KDF and Fed Starbases fully built, and that was enough for me!
Judging by all the talk from my fellow fleetmates and friends in other fleets, this new holding won't be remotely fun to do at all, either...
First, most items are only unlocked after a year of grinding and waiting (probably even longer for most fleets).

Should make up for the fact that I just can't be assed to grind out any more marks or anything these days. I play the feature episodes then skedaddle.
From what I can recall I signed up to be a starship captain.

Seriously, I looked at that assault rifle and instantly thought of the M-76 Revenant.

And to think Raph Koster and I once bickered over resource-limited respawning in late 1990s UO.
Someone somewhere wants to just ride their bike around the reservoir while the C-levels play violin over old Rome.
Which is actually a modified Thompson submachine gun.
TF Omega would, logically, be all over this...
