Lemme tellya a story. Once upon a time, a bunch of us on the forums here were writing a whole crapton of stories. We began back around 2012 or so, though some of the story elements that linked in are older than that.

We had a great bunch of people, and probably the 'heart' of our team was a forum member and poster who went by the handle "Sander_233".

He died a couple years ago. Nerys Ghemor left the community and the game, Takeshi...got busy with other stuff.

this is a compilation of links-some of them are dead now, most of the stories that made it through the forum update got various kinds of messed u up by it, I'm terrible at re-editing things to re-post them and would probably make a hash of it.

Hereyago...

All links I’ve successfully located are now clickable. Stories I have not received updated links for are not clickable. --NG 16 September 2015

I have updated all the links I can on my own. Updated stories are highlighted in green in the Google doc (until I get them ALL updated). There are 3 authors who didn’t title all their stories that I am still missing stories from: Daniel (7 outstanding), Brian (5), and Takeshi (received all--thanks!). I sent an email out and as soon as I receive the responses I’ll get the last updates made..--NG 6 September 2015

Nice compilation. I also wrote a couple solo stories set in this 'verse with Tyria Sark:
    • "The Silence Ends" (setup 2407, conclusion 2412 at the tail end of A Sign at the Crossroads and the start of Operation Peacekeeper)
    • "A Good Compromise" (March 2411, right at the start of the Fek attack on Moab)

"Past Continuous" was set during the mission "Of Bajor" but I don't remember whether Sander, Nerys, and I had decided on a date.

Some of them I've noticed had the punctuation bug from being transferred from the old forums. I want to go back and edit the ones I did to make them more readable, but would that run afoul of the zombie thread rule?

RP and story threads might be exempt from the necro rule, since it mainly exists to prevent spreading of outdated information about issues and mechanics that might've been fixed/corrected/are no longer available

but you could always toss baddmoonrizin a PM and ask, since he's currently the most active of the moderator group (though jodarkrider would work too, but you'd likely get a quicker response with the former)

alternatively, just doing the edits and not mentioning you did so in the thread itself would probably work just as well

yeah but the only problem is, some of them are so long that if I try to fix the punctuation, it will go over the post size limit and i'll have to put up a new post with the rest of it. Not to mention a couple of stories wern't finished-when Sander took a turn for the worse, some of them were put on hold, for when he got better. Which sadly, didn't happen. I'll ask, both about the edits, and putting up finishing bits on the ones that dropped off before they were resolved.

Have you guys done any archiving elsewhere like FanFiction.net? And, there's an article on Star Trek Expanded Universe that might be a good place to catalog stories chronologically too. :)

Honestly, my inclination would be to simply repost them, and take the opportunity to polish up anything you think is lacking in the earlier stories. The War of the Masters: Remastered, as it were.

That would be best-but being that some of them we no longer have access to...

we were thinking of going that route-then Sander's health declined, and everything else went on the back burner

I read your "What a Strange Trip It's Been..." post on the forums.
Love the story...but where does it fit in this list???

Should I just read everything labeled "(KR)"???

That was the first one i fixed after getting an ok from Baddmoonrizin. Unfortunately when i fixed the punctuation making it readable-it was now too long so had to put the rest of it in another entry. As for when it is, it's a prequel for all the Masterverse stuff, something PatrickNGO and I came up with to explain some backstory. started editing with that one because it was 'short'. still too long for a single post.

So.....basically, I read everything in this list?
That is gonna take, like, FORrreeEvvvVERrrrr!!!

Some of these links are weird....they go to the first post in a "Literary Challenge".
Never mind... I figured it out...some the the URL formatting is messed up.

If there is no title...use the first line of the post as the text for the link. Maybe???

A lot of the short fiction in both the Masterverse and my own Bait and Switch continuity was written to literary challenge prompts, and Chrome doesn't handle direct links to posts well under the current forum architecture.

the forum architecture doesn't handle ITSELF well; that's why we have post-erasing edit bugs

and speaking of things not being well, some of the links are screwed up - like showing the whole [url="insert link here[/url] bit in addition to the story title instead of just the linked title itself

Well, Patrick..there is something bonkers going on with these links.

I went straight down the line and bookmarked every link I could follow in the OP.

I followed a link and am currently reading a story called "Where the Dead Ships Dwell".
I don't know how that story got in the list of links I saved. It is not visible in your OP.
So, I am thinking it is one of the links that work that have no title?

Only thing I can think of is: your OP has some more broken hyperlinks than I can see.
I don't feel like breaking down source code to figure it out. LOL!

Never mind...I am looking at the wrong thing as a title. Actual title is all grey like the rest of the text. "The Last Candle Burns". I was looking at the white highlighted text that stands out which is part of the little poem at the beginning of the story (I hate this grey on grey I have to read these posts as...no ARC overlay).

I will read what does work. Anyways.

How long are all these stories going to stay on the STO Forums?
Is there a back up of all these stories anywhere else?

It would totally suck if PWE come along one day and decide: we are going to delete archives??
Or, heaven forbid, move the forums to something other than Vanilla and not move any of the archives??

Dang, you guys have some good characters going in this "Masterverse". Ones I really wanna follow along with.

I have pretty much put all my books in my Kindle library on hold...just going through the links in the OP.

@patrickngo thanks for keeping track of all these links.
If you need help sniffing some of these broken ones out....
I can try and help you find them. :)

We tend to use Google drive for working on them. A lot of Sanders older stuff that was written before we started using that are probably lost..the stuff he shared with us we should probably back up.

After spending a few hours hunting through old forum posts last night...a few things occurred to me that may make it easier for all of you to find your stories on Vanilla Forums at a later date.

I think hashtags work on Vanilla (???). Add hashtag: "Masterverse", "character names", "author designation" (like PN, KR...ect), title (if there is one). Those are things that make your stories unique and easier to search for.

Yes, it will be a p.i.t.a. to do this...but it will help with organization.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to do anything about Sanders 223's old posts.

Also, is "Masterverse" series the same thing as "War of the Masters"???
There seems to be two different names being used.

Note: I can give you guys the link for the pages with an Arc overlay for the stand alone stories, if you want those, too. I can not get links to individual posts (like from a Literary Challenge) with the Arc overlay.

Yes, they're the same thing. The War of the Masters is the official name, "Masterverse" is a nickname.

Sorry to hear about your friend and fellow writer.

UCLA Med Center is where my Mom went for treatment for her cancer. They were able to get her to remission, though she wouldn't quit smoking and had a relapse years later and passed on after she refused further treatment.

Anyhoo...in the middle of a novel you and he collaborated on (starting "Dark Horses")...I feel like:

That is one heavy book to read...had a copy of at one time...
