I'm gonna be upset if we have Ferasa on the map and not Cait. WE DEMAND KITTY EQUALITY!
...and purchasable tails and ears in the tailor for our Alien kitties...
Cait is likely never going to be on the map. It's like 5 sectors south of the current Alpha Quadrant map, and theres nothing for like 2-3 sector in all directions from it.
It is, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere.
So move it. I'm pretty sure players would prefer the planet be in the wrong spot than not in the game at all.

depends... put it there just to have a pip on a map? no... don't bother. Something pointless like andoria? Again, waste of dev time.
Yeah, this. If we had a story/mission reason to see Cait, we'd find a way to work it into the map. But without that, I'm not going to go around moving entire systems out of place, just so people can look at it in sector space.
Isn't that was 99.5% of the game is pips on a map that people can see in sector space that serve zero function or purpose
Uh, no. . .
The vast majority of systems in Sector Space have SOME content associated with them. The only ones that are just icons, are things like Betazed & Trill, which were added when we rebuilt Sector Space and they were the most prominent system in the sector they were in, and it seemed dumb to leave them out, and name the sector something else.
There are more of those in the expanded AQ (and I'm afraid Ferasa is one of them), but the majority of systems in the game have something to do there.

Taco, I can easily disprove what you said by stating that you've technically already did this with one system: Cestus.
Cestus, using the Star Chart is 5 sectors farther down than where you guys have placed it.
Correct, Cestus is WAY out of place. The difference is that Cestus was ALREADY in old Sector Space, and we weren't going to get rid of it (and rewrite missions, and hose Foundry authors) just to get rid of it. Same with the Mutara Nebula.
Cait was not in old Sector Space, so it doesn't have the same precedent.
And yet you guys took our money to buy the species and can't even give us a dot on a map to pin foundry missions to? I don't think that's a lot to ask.
And they did take that money gladly, and started doing it many years ago, when there wasn't even a Foundry and there was never a Caitan homeworld on the map, and people seemed to be happy to spend money on the race. Seems it was never really seen as a neccessary prerequisite to be able to visit the homeworld of a race you acquired.

Actually, if you think about it, MOST HWs of playable races aren't visitable.

The Iconians fled to one of their dyson spheres and moved it to the Andromeda Galaxy after their homeworld was destroyed so they could regroup.
They mostly lived in the Milky way until they were destroyed, and post Iconian War, they moved back to their homeworld to terraform it.
[/quote] We don't know to how many of their spheres they fled. We don't know they remain in the one sphere they used to stage the invasion. We don't know, except for t'ket and her heralds, how many of them are still in the Milky Way.

The Gamma Quadrant was the least explored in any of the shows, which also makes it the one most RIPE for exploration content (the "infamous" new exploration system that was suppose to replace the Genesis System that was removed from the game over a year ago). Exploring the space occupied by the Dominion, with factions who are both loyal to the "traditional" Founders, as well as factions who are loyal to "Odo's Founders", visit some of the systems and races mentioned in DS9.
I think Taco mentioned a maximum of 8x8 sectors, which covers largely the entire known space for the Gamma Quadrant as depicted in Star Charts.
The point i made early in this thread, Gamma quadrant is not and never been depicted in this game. So it is incorrrect and farcical to bandy about the term quadrant. It needs to be. However i believe it will eventually be included at some future point. When they have content that brings us there.
I know full well about the Episode, I watched it when it first premiered. First of the non-pilot Episodes filmed. I know the map was curtailed. The point I was making was to get to the First Federation you had to go through areas of space that was charted and we have no recollection of it at all, then. Before then, in Enterprise, and after in TNG we do, but not then.
Where is Delta Vega and the Galaxy's Edge? Where is Talos? Seems like the TOS Enterprise went 'where no man has gone before' and apparently afterwards as well.
They had much better warp drive back in the TOS times. In the sixties that ship could basically go anywhere in the galaxy and Beyond.
Then came TNG and the quantifying of a fictional Drive causing poorer and weaker performance regardless of the technological "advancement."

Just a point of note, you're mostly just trying to justify what would probably be something you'd want to see with a Gamma Quadrant Expansion. There's no actual evidence that the Dominion would be factionalized.
Another point of note is that when it comes to ST: Star Charts & STO maps, what we're seeing is a flat cross section of space. If we were to actually think of the dimensions, The powers would likely look way different, and it's possible that Klingon space and Cardassian space would likely border each other more than what they do.

"According to Star Charts, that area of space is the Kzinti home world. Since we can't use the Kzinti, and since the Ferasans are our analog, it only makes sense to put them in the Kzinti's space."
Isn't Ferasa Prime supposed to be a giant coughed-up hairball?
Well, I have a sneaking suspicion where this leads... Remember echos of light ? Kuumaarke: This is Tzenketi technology !
We have a new baddy !
If the Tzenketi are the new bad guys (primative from what I've seen so far), then who are THEY running from and in turn who is THAT group running from?
Am glad to see the test map on Tribble though! Means an Expansion in the works. Let's us hope!
Probably more like an addition to the current Agents of Yesterday Expansion than a new Expansion.

Are there any plans to actually use those "icons " in the future ( Betazed,Trill) or Andoria and Vulcan for that matter .. ?
You know what I would like to see added to the Alpha Quadrant? A colony for the Vaadwaur to live on. There is a mission in the Delta Quadrant where you encounter a group of Vaadwaur who are tired of the fighting and want out. You have the option of helping them get to our side of the Galaxy, but we don't really hear from them again.I always thought it would be neat if the Deferi were nice enough to give the Vaadwaur a planet or moon in their territory. The Alpha/Beta Quadrant powers have all been nice to the Deferi and assisted them when they were being bullied by the Breen, so they would return the favor by helping the Vaadwaur find a home. In return for their generosity, the Vaadwaur would help protect the Deferi from the Breen who still like to pick on them from time to time.
I'd actually like to see more development of the species 'branches'. Vulcan/Romulan/Remen are a more evolved branch. But the Klingons had a few as do the humans and some others. They even lay it right out for the woolheads on the shows with nice long detailed explainations and everything. These all fall under the 'minor species' clause of startrek, but still... it's a fertile field waiting to sprout. Sorta like a tribble today equals ten thousand tomorrow. Good ideas can be like that. Probably should start writing again. Just been spending that free time playing STO instead. time management. time management. it sux.

only curious.
