If I wanted to ge the Maco one for my 6 Fed toons, then I would have to pay the Dilithium equivalent of 24.113 Zen at current rate. Any Zen store Outfit would be 550 Zen.
So the Maco one is 43 times as expensive as any other Outfit. Just to put that into perspective...
Lobi uniforms are also quite expensive, and single-character unlocks.
People here are acting like they should have this stuff on all their characters, just like the Into the Breach promotion. Perhaps it's time to realise that these uniforms serve a certain purpose, which isn't to provide everyone with cheap stuff.
I think some people missed the point of these dilithium store additions.
And tradable, and give various other stuff while you're accumulating the Lobi crystals.
As for the comparison with the various queued events: I have always and will always push for that thing to become account-wide. The dilithium there is a nifty bonus that I'd probably still work for on all my characters, but the item is what I'm really there for.
The world is full of expensive things people buy, because they can.
The world is also full jealous people who insist that buying those expensive things is stupid or insane, because they can't.
I think you are clearly misunderstanding the objections to the pricing. It's not that the average player could not farm the required dilithium to buy one. Of course they could. Anyone can with little to no effort given enough time.
The issue is what you get for the price. For the same money, you can buy a ship bundle or several C-Store ships that are account wide unlocks. Those offer much more bang for the buck.
That's not why you buy an expensive suit. You buy an expensive suit to show people you can afford one. The pricetag IS the "bang."
IRL, you can buy a cheap car for the price of an expensive suit. And if have to compare the two, you're not rich enough for the suit.
Ah, the ancient concept of a 'status symbol'. I forgot we still haven't outgrown such primitive nonsense.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
Anyone have some screen shots of their characters IN the new MACO costume? I'm kind of unclear on how much I should even care from a cosmetic standpoint...

Whether or not they're tradable or not doesn't really matter much.
You also get other stuff while collecting the dilithium needed to buy these uniforms: EC, R&D materials etc. None of which are as valuable as a big price from a lock box of course, but you still get it while accumulating the necessary resources.

If no one posts any before I get home I'll take some on tribble for you, since I'm not actively playing anymore since finishing the AoY missions I'm sitting on my dil on holodeck incase they drop the price in response to feedback. Once they release the next FE I'll grab it there.
They've discounted slightly from Tribble. It is 1820000, 1365000, 1365000 and 910000.
A very slight, tokenistic, discount. This is still insane, esp that it is for just one character! I was really looking forward to these but no way will I spend those kind of prices each. Just give us a TWOK c-store pack, I'll buy that if it is priced similar to the current ones.

Actually, that's just the dilithium mine. My fleet gets a better rate than the one you stated due to a T3 mine.

Fortunately, I never liked those costumes. I wouldn't buy them if they sold for 1,000 dilithium each. I just hope that kind of thing doesn't become a trend. Of course, I was hoping the same thing for the lobi costumes, and that clearly didn't work out.

Lobi store uniforms can be bought off the exchange, for less than $10 worth of zen if you sell keys to get them. So no, they're not nearly as expensive. Especially with a sale going on.
So just like those people doing the calculations of dil to lobi and justifying the pricing on the dil store (conveniently ignoring that last fact), you're missing the point the other side is making, too.
Anyone who has been crazy enough to purchase any of these uniforms, I'm happy to say the correct authorities have been notified and you're room has been reserved

as I said - I have no Intention in getting them. I have 18 toons, 12 of them on KDF side. I rarely Play Feds.
I just wanted to point out how much more expensive they are. Your comparison with Lobi is allright - however the Vaadwaur officer Outfit (which is a Lobi item) is currently at 50M EC - which I still consider considerably cheaper than 1.7M Dilithium. Esp. as there is no daily Limit on grinding EC. You would have to grind Dilithium for 212 days on a single character just for this uniform.
Now my Point is: if you don't want People to use it, why design it. And if you want People to use it, set a reasonable Price.
I have pointed out in the last weeks that the ingame Goals for the Event showed how Little the decicion makers of this game knew about the game - we didn't reach T1 on one Goal and hit T3 on the next one within a day or two. Now their pricing policy seems completely unrealistic.

I can. I can probably even get all of them with my Zen reserve.
The thing is, I won't, because it is insane.
^^ This right here! I won't. Like ever.
On a related note: Zen prices have jumped from 400 to 415, which is the exact opposite of what some people here claim to be Cryptic's intention. If this was really meant to be a dilithium sink intended to lower the cost of Zen, it has well and truly failed at that task.
Now isn't *that* hilarious!? LOL. All those wannabe Economists, and the exact opposite happens from what they thought! :P (Actually, they're not wrong: prices *should* have dropped, but I'm poking fun of them anyway).
This would actually be indicative that players are trying to buy up all the cheap dilithium that they can, and the Zen sellers are taking advantage of that.
Give it time. Day 1 is always volatile.
Yeah, of course. I just thought it was hilarious a bit, is all.
As to how effective this sink will really be, we'll see. A costume is not a 'must-have' item, like a super-console or something, so it may not have the intended effect. Personally, I didn't need an extra sink; nor an extra MACO costume, for that matter; so, either way, I'm not losing anything.
Is it really an effective sink when people can buy Zen with real money to exchange it for Dil?
If earning Dil was restricted to only what people actually earn in game without outside means, this would be a different story.

Where do you think the Dilithium I buy with zen comes from? It comes from other players who obtained it in game, and when I spend it it's taken out of circulation, and the more people looking to obtain dilithium this way, the lower the exchange rate will go. Anything that must be purchased with dilithium is most definitely a dil sink, but the effectiveness of any given sink is determined by how desirable it is, if the cost is right, and how long the given sink remains relevant (by that I mean holdings, which only lower the exchange rate for so long).

Would've gladly taken these costumes, too...if it weren't for those asterisking faction restrictions.
Few things in STO have spawned so much instant jealousy. It's wonderful. Perfect vanity items...except for those asterisking faction restrictions.
