I say let them coming and then we thrash the KT back to their time with the Prime Era fire power...As for the JJ enterprise..It was a massive disappointment..Just a couple of shots in the first movie..I mean seriously?! second movie was a joke where not a single shot was fired and the enterprise had its nacells handed to it and in beyond the enterprise is gonna be a pile of metal?! if this isint insult I dont know what is..Its a prime ship of the timeline we all grew up with..
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

we really don't have much of a choice since it was OUR fault in the first place - both for that rift between the PU and AR forming and for what happens in the AR during Terminal Expanse

Some hats are gonna be eaten and heads are gonna be blown.
Puuuuuurrfect.
indeed. I however am curious as to how they go about introducing it into our timeline.
Will be an interesting storyline I'm sure. However, I really hope if they do bring us the Vengeance class, they make it true to its form. It is approximately the size of a Scimitar. It is 1450 meters long, which is slightly longer than the Scimitar is from wing tip to wing tip. and it's about as wide as the Scimitar is front to back, so I really hope they keep it true to the size they've given the Scimitar in this game. I don't want to be seeing some little mini-Vengeance. It would destroy the immersion for me and many others.
So what the hell happened to "We can only do CBS's IP stuff"? And who thought mixing these 2 dissimilar Treks was a good idea? JJ Enterprise is 2.4 times bigger than the Connie and the Vengeance ~2x bigger than THAT Enterprise. I don't think this is a good idea if the JJ-verse gets outside of a few missions to do.
The feature film agreement with 'Bad Robot' still had marketing limits. With the completion of the third film (it was a three film contract) it appears perhaps a new agreement was enacted and CBS/Paramount got more control over the 'JJ-Verse' properties and the ability to promote and use them in various ways.

I'm just kinda sad we didn't get this woman in the game. But 0718 is still pretty cool.
I don't think you know just how many people are on the same page as you over that!!!! Make it happen Cryptic!
Actually, it's probably for the best that we haven't gotten her. Remember what happened to poor Seven of Nine.
In case you needed a reminder:
That's kind of shocking, if i where Jeri Ryan i'd be seriously worried if the folks of cryptic where trying to play a prank on me.
On the other hand, to see real life "seven" and "seven" made by cryptic explains many things i was wondering about for years.
I never got why they make certain designs or characters ugly on purpose, but now i tend to think that they just can't do better.
For example, why should they design Starships they want to sell people so ugly or why make some actors look like a caricature in their game? Don't get me wrong, the designs i'm talking about are supposed to be "hero" ships (like the misproportioned Guardian Class for ex.) and the characters are supposed to resemble real people who may think god knows what when they see what cryptics people have done with them. So the question was why should cryptic do something like that?
Now i think they do what they can within their means, but sometimes the result is just disturbingly weird. Other companies have one ore more persons supervising new designs and to guarantee a certain quality in their game. I wonder why cryptic doesn't have people for that, or why they are doing such a bad job.
Sure some things i criticised are totally subjective, but i think many people have a pretty good eye for faces and can easily see when they are done wrong.
"...'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied--chains us all irrevocably.' ... The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today--"
- (TNG) Picard, quoting Judge Aaron Satie
Yeah. Early on, a large portion of the canon ships looked ugly as hell because Cryptic couldn't do any better at launch. But now that they have the tech, they can upgrade the ships' appearances. But it seems that in regards to NPC models, they still don't have the proper tools or budget or whatever the issue is.
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.
Disappointed here. On the bright side though, at least I'll keep my money for something more useful
I'm with you there. Celebrating 50 years of Star Trek with the abomination that is the JJ verse is almost insulting. As someone said, it's a good thing that we're not forced to play it.

In regard to 'celebrity' characters... they've explained all of this in blogs before. They start by using an existing character model to get as close as they can and then they model the facial features to match reference pictures of the actor to create a custom face skin. Some characters are easier to duplicate in STO than others this way. What they *don't* do is to start from scratch. If they did that, they would have to design the whole character from the ground up... including all of the animations.
They would get a better likeness -- which I firmly believe they'd be able to do -- but not without added expense and complications. In Jeri Ryan's case, I suspect that they just couldn't get the "bone structure" to match her and had to settle for an approximation. You can definitely tell it's supposed to be her, it's just a bit off. If they hadn't skinned her the way they did, it would have looked even worse especially when animated.
The ships... I couldn't tell you why some of the ships are so awful-looking. There are some really sweet-looking ships in-game too so it's not all bad news.

They can kitbash really well (like it had always been intended to be that combination) and really badly (like gaps in the model badly), depending on how you mix the parts... and yeah, by themselves I'm not huge fan of either design.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.

It would help if the Arbiter didn't look like an inverse serving spoon.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.

Also, we have not been told that about Trek-2017, it is RUMORED to be in that time period.
This is what HAS been Confirmed...
1. The new Star Trek will air in 2017 as the first original series on CBS’s new VOD platform.
2. Alex Kurtzman and Bryan Fuller will head up the new series.
3. CBS’s series will introduce new characters.
4. Nicholas Meyer has also joined the show as a “consulting producer/writer.”
5. It can’t air until at least 6 months after Star Trek Beyond.
Everything else out there is still just RUMORS.
Got some more details to share on that
one big story, broken down into 13 unique episodes total
since it'll be streamed on the 'net, rather than broadcast on TV, they don't have to shoot for the 40-45 minute mark; 60 minute runtimes maybe
filming begins in september
stages already picked, sets will be put together in a couple of weeks
producing director: Vincenzo Natali
no directors for the individual episodes yet
Showrunner Bryan Fuller (text in brackets added for easier read):
I imagine [we'll start releasing details on the timeline and other specifics] around Comic-Con [about a month from now].
Another interesting bit:
We’ve got the arc of the first season entirely written, or arced out...
Not much, but yeah, we're getting some info trickling down

Also, despite being muzzled about timelines by CBS, Kurtzman has frequently hinted at it being within the prime timeline and given that the majority of their writing team are people who have worked within that timeline and have extensive knowledge in its lore, both in TV, movies and novels, it stands to reason we'll likely see prime timeline with a more modern approach and better special effects. I can't honestly see them going any other direction without alienating the bulk of Star Trek fans like they did with the movies and stunting any future endeavors for those movies.
I really need to figure out how to take screencaps, had a great shot yesterday of the KT Connie next to a Galaxy X.

Won't be buying it anymore, even if it is on the c-store. Not interested in a connie the size of an Odyssey. Still want the uniforms though.
