Ex Federation MACO, he was a Federation admiral until Papela Lot saw to that. He was broken out of jail and took part in the rescue of his daughter. His knowledge of military tactics and strategy is second to none.

@thay8472 How's Sito going to deal with Heath, she was ambushed and virtually destroyed before she could carry out her orders

What makes you think that wasn't part of the plan? Think of what just happened as a test.

By sacrificing a squad of ships, Sito now knows you have support from the Romulans, (assuming that's what RSU stands for Romulan Star Union ?) and support from a race that likes to hide in subspace. When Heath returns I imagine she'll be furious, but a nice update to her ships and an hour with Oylumi should calm her down.

How much of a problem would this rebel cell be for Sito? She's facing an opponent who does not play by her rules but will make Sito play by his rules. Yes the RSU is the Romulan Star Union.

Fed Valdez also uses propaganda and deception. All he has to do is to make sure the Inquisition gets that picture from Dewa III and Regent Lot is facing trouble from the Inquisition over her past, Sito Pren's name would also be mentioned.

Aslong as said cell doesn't impede on the Bajor, Trill or Betazed Sectors, it's not her problem. Though she is partially aware of what's going on.

Most of the Inquisitors were aliens, it's possible some of them may have been former Alliance personnel.

Fed Valdez did impede on Betazed just for a mission of mercy, he did it to get all his people back so they could be finally put to rest. He left afterwards without making any hostile moves.

Sito is a military commander, she would do the same to get her people back alive or dead.

With 'A Mirror Tale' I'm gong to try and portray Sito as a character who respects her enemies as if they were her allies. As for Valdez, he was never a threat, he may have been watched, but he didn't do anything so there was no need to act.

Now that said, would Sito be open to negotiation? Neutral location two guards each. Fed Valdez is not after Sito but he's only after the Regent and her biological daughters for what they did to him.

Depends if your a threat, or if she believes she can use/work with you to further her own goals. Have her bring Heath and Naynta with her. XD

                Drozana 2411 (MU)

Morale has at an all time high in the resistance, Valdez had battle tested them and they had passed. "We're getting a call father" reported Trianna, "Who is it?" asked Valdez. "You won't believe it, it's Fleet Admiral Sito and she wants to talk to you in person, two guards each at a neutral location" Valdez suspected it was a trap but agreed to open negotiations. "Trianna, I'll need you on this. Naynta Lot will be there" "B'Vat, I have given you the means of fighting the Empire, do not waste them" said Valdez, "I've had enough fighting and want to be at peace with myself." "There is a time when a warrior puts down his blade and chooses another path, may good fortune smile on you my friend" said B'Vat.

Trianna agreed to go with him, Valdez sent the signal to Sito, "It read Romulan senate in 72 hours." Valdez set off with Trianna onboard his flagship the Freedom's Flame and set course for Romulus. Back at Trill, Sito got the message, "Oylumi, prepare the Enterprise and recall Naynta. Heath you are coming as well" ordered Sito and Sito set off for Romulus.

                .......................................................................................................
                Romulan Senate 72 hours later

Valdez, Trianna and Emma Roy were stood in the Senate hall when Sito, Heath and Lot arrived. "Fleet Admiral Sito" said Valdez, "Admiral Valdez, it's a pleasure to meet a worthy opponent" replied Sito. "Lets just kill them and leave" said Lot, "No Naynta, you will stand down" replied Sito.

"Fleet Admiral, these are my terms. You will give us safe passage back to the Federation border with no harassment from your forces. When we get to the border, we will hand over the intel stolen from Betazed, any attempt to hinder us and you won't get the data." said Valdez, "I've had enough of fighting and will not bother your empire again. You have my word" Sito turned to Lot and Lot confirmed Valdez was telling the truth.

"Here are my terms Admiral, the Federation will no longer interfere in Terran affairs. You leave us alone and we'll leave you alone" said Sito. Lot was furious,"They attacked Betazed, they must be punished!!" Sito chose to ignore Lot's protest, "I do apologise for Naynta's outburst, Naynta, don't you think they've been punished enough? Trianna here has lost her mother and also her life partner because of mother. The Admiral here lost his wife and his crew due to mother's actions. It's what sparked this mass insurgency" said Sito. "Trianna said she owed Naynta something, I hope you don't mind Fleet Admiral" said Valdez as Trianna connected a right hook into Lot's jaw, "That was for my mother and life partner" said Trianna afterwards.

Lot was furious as she tried to pull out a pistol but Sito told her to stand down. "Miss Valdez, that was actually quite funny." said Sito with a smile. "So I finally meet the commander who showed me a dose of reality" said Heath still seething from her defeat. "It's a shame we were enemies, a commander with your skill would have been useful to the empire" said Sito, "Monac was well played as was the manner you beat Heath."

"Admiral, I would like to know who brought down our computer networks" said Sito. "That was my handiwork" said Trianna as she blocked an attempt by Lot to scan her. "Sito, there is something strange about this Trianna. She's the third Trianna Valdez I've met." said Lot. "We know why you hit our installations at Betazed, you were after another Trianna Valdez. We found the orders from your old flagship" said Sito. Lot then added her opinion, "I work with your counterpart often, he's a good friend of mine. Shame we were enemies, you did teach me a lesson I never forgot."

"So Fleet Admiral, do you accept my terms?" asked Valdez. Sito considered them and then gave her answer, "We know you have Captain Teanna Valdez in custody. In exchange for Captain Valdez, we will release Captain Sito" Valdez thought about it and agreed to a prisoner exchange to be done immediately. "Valdez to Freedom's Flame, beam Captain Valdez down." ordered Valdez. "Sito to Enterprise, beam down Captain Sito from her cell." ordered Sito. Sito kept her word and both prisoners marched past each other.

"I accept your terms Admiral Valdez and I'll overlook your recent incursion to Betazed, I understand you wanted to get your people back. I respect that" said Sito. "Fleet Admiral, I'm not authorized to negotiate with your government, if you want to negotiate with my government you'll have to send a diplomatic envoy." replied Valdez. Sito respected that honesty from Valdez, "We'll give you safe passage back to the Federation border, it was good doing business"

With that both parties beamed back to their respective ships and parted ways. "We're going home" said Valdez as he set course for the Badlands. 82 hours later they reached the Badlands and Valdez returned the data that had been stolen from Betazed, Sito beamed all of Valdez and Trianna's things over to the Freedom's Flame and Valdez crossed the border followed by the Molindrans.

18 hours later Valdez arrived on his Betazed and sent his note of retirement to command, command accepted it and Valdez went home to live in peace and look after Trianna. Emma went back to work with Starfleet intelligence and she would start fully training Trianna in intelligence work. Trianna was offered a position in Starfleet intelligence which she accepted though she worked from home. "Let's rebuild our lives Trianna" said Valdez, "sounds like a good plan" replied Trianna.

                ................................................................................................................................
Now what happened afterwards for Valdez and his family?

Nathan Valdez kept his word and stayed retired, he never remarried and died a great grandfather at an age of 102
Trianna Valdez eventually remarried 6 years later in 2417, she would remain in Starfleet Intelligence for the next 30 years and would have 3 children, the first a daughter who she named Teanna Jane Valdez. Their descendants would fight the Battle of Procyon V.

@thay8472 There is a reason I chose to give Fed Valdez an early retirement, it's so he can focus on his now full time job of being a single parent to his daughter Trianna. It also means I can fully focus on mirror Valdez

                    I.S.S. Enterprise Bajor Sector (MU)

Admiral Valdez had been recalled and ordered to report to Fleet Admiral Sito. Beaming onto the bridge of the Enterprise, Valdez was met by Naynta Lot. "What happened to you?" asked Valdez seeing the bust lip on the right side of Lot's face. "Lt Valdez's counterpart slammed me with a right hook, she said that was for her family." replied Lot still annoyed about it, "mean right hook though. Oh and Sito wants to speak to you"

Valdez was called into Sito's ready room and he saluted his commanding officer, "Admiral have a seat. The matter of the blackmail against the Regent is dropped. I spoke to your counterpart, he was not what I expected. Admiral I'm redeploying you and Naynta back to the fight against Leeta. You will hold your fleets in reserve until they are needed." said Sito. "I heard you accepted his terms and got our intel back. Giving him safe passage through Imperial space was a mistake with all respect maam." said Valdez. Sito let that last bit slide, "Admiral, there will be no more incursions into Federation space. If they leave us alone, we'll leave them alone" replied Sito.

"Admiral I'm reassigning Lt Valdez to the Enterprise, her talents will be better used here." Valdez did not challenge Sito, "I've heard about your internal battles with her and it's a distraction, if she steps out of line she will dealt with accordingly in a manner she will learn not to challenge superiors" said Sito. "Good, she needs to learn that being a Admiral's daughter brings responsibility" replied Valdez "I agree, I'm giving you and Naynta a new task, some of your captains will need to be trained and retrained until they are ready to fight ." responded Sito, "Admiral wait a few minutes, Captain Valdez my ready room now"

Teanna walked into the room escorted by Sito's guards, "She may have revealed information to the rebels, deal with her in a manner you see fit" said Sito. Valdez decided to deal with Teanna there and then, "Teanna, you are to retire from Imperial service. It's better than having you shot, Trianna needs her mother." he said in a cold calm manner and Teanna removed her rank pips and handed them over to Sito, "Nathan, you'll forgive me in time" said Teanna as she was escorted to the transporter pad and beamed onto a transport ship heading to Betazed.

"My people will keep an eye on her" said Sito, "Admirals you've got some free time, make best use of it" Valdez and Lot saluted Sito and both left for their respective flagships and Trianna was beamed aboard with her kit. "Sito is not as forgiving as I am Trianna, you will be on your best behavior" said Valdez as he walked past Trianna. Lot smiled, she knew Valdez was tough but fair.

"Up for a wargame? 5th Fleet vs 3rd Fleet" asked Lot over the comms, Valdez answered "My friend, anytime. 10 bars of latinum says I beat you." Lot smiled and answered "you're on, prepare to pay up when I beat you" it was time for 3rd and 5th Fleets to reorganise. Valdez had another job to do, he needed a new captain for his flagship and he was considering Kestrella Lot for that job.

The amused smirk on Kestrella Lot’s face filled the screen on Valdez’s desk.
“I don’t do starships,” she stated. “That’s my sister’s thing. I prefer my combat up close and personal.”
”Well I can offer you a MACO squad of your own. You worked well with them during the boarding of the Federation flagship.”
“MACO’s are as graceful and quiet as Targs mating. Your military does not interest me. I am the hand of the Regent. I am her will made flesh, and I make those that trouble her disappear. And I work alone.”
                      The screen went blank.
”I told you,” laughed a voice from another screen.
Valdez turned toward Nanyta’s smiling face.
                      “That woman has… issues.”
“I grew up with her. Oh, the stories I could tell you… you’d never have another peaceful night’s sleep.”
“Be that as it may. I still need a new captain for my flagship.”
“That is your problem. Now where we? Oh yes. You were about to lose to me.”
                      Valdez smiled.
                      “Think so do you?”

                      (Prime)

Heath sat at the head of the table, looking at the faces staring at her.
Well, she thought. Let's get this started.
                      "I..."
                      "Excuse me Captain Heath."
                      "Yes Captain Lot?"
"Before you start, I feel that we should deal with the bubbling caldron of anger we have here with us." She looked across the table at Cerys.
"I think I dislike both versions of you," Cerys commented.
"Yes I know. And for the record, the words you’re thinking of to describe me? I've been called worse, by my own children."
"You have something you want to say Cerys?" Heath asked.
"Now that it's been brought up, yes. Why are we sitting here doing nothing? There could be other survivors from our group still out there, and we're doing nothing to help them."
"What would you have us do?"
                      "Go look for them!"
                      "That’s not an option anymore.”
                      “Why not?”
“Because as of thirty minutes ago cease fire has been declared between the two sides.”
Eyebrows were raised around the table. Heath continued on.
“We have just received word that a state of ‘you stay on your side and we’ll stay on ours’ has been reached. Apparently Admiral Valdez…”
                      “He’s alive?”
“I thought I just said that. He said that a peace was negotiated with the Admiral in charge of the area on the other side.”
“But if he survived… others might have as well… we…”
“Are under orders not to crossover.”
                      “But…”
                      “Captain Chromia…”
                      The Orion female smiled.
                      “Yes Captain Heath?”
“If Captain Cerys attempts to go into the Mirror with my permission I want you to shoot her.”
                      “What?”
“Just in the knees. Nothing fatal.”
                      “As you command."
                      “You’re crazy.”
“No Cerys, this is how wars start. With the best of intentions.”
“I… I understand. I apologize for my outburst.”
“Don’t apologize for having feelings,” Captain McBrocken corrected with her slight Scottish accent. ”If the chance presents itself, were gonna carve the names of every single victim from those attacks in to that animal’s skin.”
“I must point out,” Captain Lot interrupted. “That the USS Ressurection is a hospital ship and we cannot obey orders like that in good faith. However we are more than willing to volunteer our services in this endeavor when we are off duty.”
“Duly noted,” Heath continued. “So what does this mean for us and our mission? Absolutely nothing. We have an agreement with one person who doesn’t speak for all of them. Now more than ever the minefield is going up. Now Cerys are you ready to present your crews findings?”
                      “Yes ma’am.”
“Good, now let’s all get something to drink and listen to what she has to say.”

*Note: I now realize that I should have been saying "Bad Lands" instead of "Briar Patch" all this time*

I.S.S. Astute, Bajor Sector 2411 (MU)

The wargame was tied at 5 ships taken out of action each, "What to spend that latinum on?" said Lot over the screen to Valdez, "That's fighting talk" replied Valdez to which Lot laughed. Their bit of friendly competition was interrupted by a distress call. "Naynta, we may have to pick this up later, you getting a distress call on your end?" said Valdez. Lot responded, "It's Terran and they're attack from an unknown vessel."

Both Admirals turned their fleets around and went to help the stricken Terran cruiser. When they got there 20 minutes later the Terran cruiser was debris and the I.S.S. Towton was waiting. "Let's see what they want" said Valdez as he opened the channel. Lot also opened a channel, "You again" said Valdez looking at Trianna Valdez on the screen, "you just attacked a loyal ship."

Trianna laughed about it and gloated, "I was hungry, such strength and the best part was it tasted good, plus it was hilarious to see the fool attempt to fight back." "You ..................." said Lot before Trianna cut her off mid sentence. "I would not finish that sentence if you want to keep that mouth of yours" replied Trianna. "You attacked an Imperial ship" responded Valdez, "Why are you here then?"

Trianna simply said "I was bored. Since your Fleet Admiral Sito ordered the cease fire with the Federation, I've had nothing to play with. Add a little bit of chaos to the universe and everyone complains, you all need to have a bit of fun every so often." "Spoilt brat with a god complex, the last thing we need" joked Lot, "Who you calling spoilt brat?" asked Trianna sarcastically. "I think she meant you" replied Valdez. "Why won't you accept my help?" asked Trianna.

"Because we don't trust you and you are a mentally unstable loose cannon" replied Valdez. "My friend does have a point" said Lot. "Who are you calling mentally unstable. If only Sito knew who was really pulling all the strings" said Trianna. "This should be good, Naynta you might be amused" said Valdez. "I planted the seed that led to the Imperial victory over the Federation and then Sito has to ruin my fun by calling a cease fire with them. All those souls would have tasted very sweet indeed" said Trianna.

"And now you are facing two fully operational fleets" replied Valdez, "Two fleets vs 1 timeship, you do the maths" said Lot. "Spoilsports, you won't play my game of all out war. Enough souls give or take a few million or so to gain my kind ultimate power" said Trianna. "You're completely insane, I read your record. You were the model officer................" said Valdez before he was cut off by Trianna, "That Trianna died with my parents and now you have me. I'll leave you to your wargame, It's amusing watching you little ants have your fun, until next time" and the screen went blank.

"I recorded the whole thing, Sito will need to see this" said Lot, "I agree, this individual could be problem for the empire" said Valdez and both fleets set off to meet up with the Enterprise.

                      .................................................................................................
                      Betazed (Prime)

Trianna was reading the reports from Terran space in her office at home, "Sito is keeping her word" she noted," computer open a secure channel to the U.S.S. Los Lobos, authorization TM Echo two" said Trianna, "Captain Heath, I'm sending you an update on the Terran situation. Fleet Admiral Sito is keeping her word, she's pulled her fleets back from the Federation border" "Miss Valdez, any news on the Terran commander who hit Celes and Risa on their way to Sol?" asked Heath, Trianna gave her the answer immediately.

"The commander was my father's counterpart, it caused quite the stir across the Empire. Their propaganda was having a field day with it. The terms of the ceasefire will be obeyed by both sides. Maybe when relations between the Imperial government and our government have become warmer we might negotiate a full armistice" "What about the massacres at Celes and Risa?" asked Captain McBrocken, "90,000 dead and at least another 200,000 wounded. This Admiral Valdez has to face trial as does the Regent for the massacre of Starfleet officers."

"Too many have died on both sides Captain McBrocken, you will consider the matter dropped. Let's not jeopardise the ceasefire" replied Trianna, "This morning the Federation Council have agreed to ratify the ceasefire with Fleet Admiral Sito, she did however throw a surprising olive branch. She's ordered her ships to escort any surviving Alliance ships out of Terran space as well as releasing all Federation Prisoners of war captured by her forces and sending them home, I had a quick word with her about the Leeta issue over a secure subspace channel, the Empire considers Leeta's war against us as a rogue action and they will not be needing any assistance in dealing with what we must consider an internal matter. We stick on our side of the border and they will stay on theirs, Valdez out"

Trianna then thought "PADD" and the PADD on the table behind just flew into her hand, "Hmm, this is new" thought Trianna realising she had moved an object at will without even picking it up physically. "Computer, put a secure call through to Emma Roy, authorization TM Echo Two." she ordered. "Trianna, how may I help you?" asked Emma over the subspace channel, "Emma, watch this" replied Trianna as she pulled a cup over from the other side of the room without even moving her body to pick it up. "When did this ability manifest itself?" asked Emma. Trianna answered, "Today, I just thought PADD and the PADD flew into my hand."

"Does your father know about this new ability?" asked Emma, Trianna answered, "Not yet, I'll tell him when he's finished grieving for mother". "Trianna, you have to keep this secret, I'm on my way to Betazed on the next ship. Your training is going to get a lot tougher, you're a tough young woman you'll do well."

                      .........................................................................................................
                      I.S.S. Enterprise, Bajor Sector

Trianna Valdez took her station on the Enterprise bridge, "Lt, I've heard about you and your father locking horns. If you step out of line, it's the booth and don't complain to your father. He recommended I come down hard on you, admiral's daughter or not" said Sito. Trianna didn't listen, it went in one ear and out of the other. "Oylumi, let's get these fleet wargames into session" ordered Sito.

Trianna's defiance once again got her in trouble, "Your fault dad" thought Trianna but she was busted very quickly by Papela Lot. "Chief, escort Lt Valdez to the booth, Lt, you were warned" said Regent Lot. "WHAT!!" shouted Trianna as she flung the guard across the bridge without even touching him. "That temper, young lady control it." ordered Sito, "Booth now"

Trianna left her station escorted by 5 guards, Sito ordered 4 hours for the upstart Lt. "I've never seen a Terran/Betazoid hybrid do that before" said Regent Lot, "Too many anger issues and I thought Jodi was bad." Sito laughed, "That's why Admiral Valdez must be starting to get grey hair, I don't envy him."

4 hours later, Trianna was escorted back onto the bridge and took her station still angry at Papela Lot and Sito. "Don't think about complaining about it being not fair, you will learn to know your place and some responsibility" said Sito, "You will conform to regulations and stop acting like a spoilt brat." Trianna was still resisting military discipline and Sito knew she had a battle on her hands with this upstart officer. Sito would have to tough, Admiral Valdez had given her his support on the matter.

I.S.S. Enterprise, Bajor Sector 2411 (MU)

Admiral Valdez and Naynta Lot were back on the Enterprise, "Pay up" said Lot smiling and Valdez put his thumb print onto Lot's PADD, "Nice doing business" said Lot laughing. "You had to shoot me in the shuttlebay didn't you" replied Valdez seeing the funny side of it. "A lesson I learnt from your counterpart." replied Lot smiling. "Funny" responded Valdez, "I'll buy the next round in the Admiral's mess as well"

Trianna walked past with a glare of defiance not even bothering to salute, Valdez noticed and took action, "Lt Valdez over here now" Trianna tried to ignore him but Lot reinforced Valdez's order, "Lt Valdez, you were given an order obey it." Trianna was marched over under guard, "WHAT!!" she shouted. "You will salute when in front of your superiors, I warned you young lady not to step out of line. Guards, march Lt Valdez back to the booth, it's seems like a second home for her" said Valdez. "Give her 4 hours" ordered Lot, "she's a piece of work"

"What she needs is anger management" replied Papela Lot, "I saw her throw a man across the bridge without even touching him." Valdez was shocked, Trianna had never shown that ability before. "Regent, may I have access to your library" asked Valdez, "For what purpose?" asked Regent Lot. "To check if there have been cases of Betazoids capable of throwing objects at will" answered Valdez, "If so, which families have that ability." Regent Lot scanned Valdez's mind and got the record of the most recent encounter with the I.S.S. Towton.

"This other Trianna Valdez, how much of a threat is she to the empire?" asked Regent Lot. "Very dangerous, she's unstable and thinks we're all here for her amusement" replied Valdez. "Thank you for your honesty Admiral" responded Regent Lot, "You'll have your access to my libraries. Sito's going to be interested in this report, you and Naynta need to be brutally honest on this other Trianna Valdez."

"The Fleet Admiral will see you both now" said Oylumi saluting both Admirals, Valdez and Lot both saluted Sito and handed her the report. Sito read the report and told them both to take a seat. "The two people who know something about this are out of reach" said Lot, "Their files are not, study the Oudenarde logs. Both of you I need your best people on this " replied Sito, "I'll study the recording of the encounter with the Towton and try and get answers" Both Valdez and Lot saluted and walked out of the ready room. "We're going to need a lot of coffee" joked Valdez and Lot smiled and replied "Indeed"

                          I.S.S. Enterprise, Bajor Sector (MU)

Admiral Valdez was back on the Enterprise, he was handing in the daily fleet report for 3rd Fleet to Fleet Admiral Sito. It started as a normal day but Valdez had no idea what was about to hit him and it would put him out of action for at least a month. He was walking down to Sito's office when betrayal struck out of nowhere. Trianna simply walked up and put a dagger into his chest, she was soon wrestled to the ground by Valdez's guards and dragged off to holding.

Valdez was taken down to sickbay and for the next few hours the Enterprise medical staff were working tirelessly to treat the severe wound. He eventually woke up eight hours later only to be faced by Naynta Lot, "What happened to you?" she asked showing no sympathy. "Trianna, the little witch stuck a dagger in my chest. I never saw it coming" replied Valdez trying to contain his anger, "The doctor said I was lucky to be alive... another inch to the left and I would not be having this conversation."

"How long are you out for?" asked Lot, "I can run 3rd Fleet for you until you're medically cleared." "Thanks Naynta, just try not to terrify my captains too much and I've been put on medical leave for a month." replied Valdez. "Trianna will not get away with it, you recover and I'll deal with the Lt, that's an order to a friend" responded Lot, "and welcome to the assassination survivor's club." Valdez smiled at least, Trianna had no idea what Lot was capable of. "She really has no idea what's in store" thought Valdez, "She'll talk, I guarantee it" replied Lot before she left the room and went to the holding cells.

In the holding cells, Trianna was yelling to be let out when Lot walked into the room. "Guards bring the Lt over" ordered Lot. Trianna took one look and realized she had made a terrible mistake. "Lt Trianna Valdez, you know why you are here. You made a terrible mistake by sinking a dagger into the Admiral's chest, you failed" said Lot in a cold manner. "I put it squarely at the heart, he should be dead" thought Trianna who was by now looking very worried, "Your thoughts betray you Lt, not only did you attempt to assassinate a superior... you also tried to kill your own father." said Lot, "Let's just say he's not happy"

Lot then got to work and for the next several hours, Lot made sure Trianna knew the meaning of pain. "Why did you do it?" asked Lot three times to which Trianna defiantly refused to answer, Lot increased the booth setting and pushed the switch. "You win, it was out of spite. My father stopped my fun." answered Trianna who was then put back in her cell, Lot had broken her spirit and Trianna was left in her cell to think about her actions. "Give her more time in the booth every 3 hours" ordered Lot, "make sure she learns her lesson"

Lot then returned to sickbay and told Valdez what Trianna had told her. He could not contain his anger at such a betrayal, "I've got something that will focus her temper. As of now, Lt Valdez is to be stripped of her rank and commission and demoted to full crewman. She has to earn back her commission and my trust." he said. "Speaking as friend, deal with your domestic issues. You've got a month to fix those problems so don't waste that time" replied Lot, "You maybe good on the battlefield but you are not so great on domestic issues. Those files you requested off mother, I'll deliver them to your home in Rixx myself." she finished with some friendly advice.

"Admiral Lot, visiting hours are over. Admiral Valdez, don't even think about discharging yourself from sickbay" ordered Sito's Trill doctor, Lot had warned her about his stubbornness to medical treatment. Meanwhile in the holding cells, Trianna was sat on the floor with her head in her hands after finally realizing what she had done. "I messed up big time, one spat of anger and I nearly killed my own father. I need to try and rebuild that bridge I just burned" she thought to herself. Lot who was checking up picked up on that sensed guilt, she walked over to the holding cell and asked "Learnt your lesson?" Trianna nodded in agreement and Lot sensed she was being honest.

"I tried to fight the system and I lost, I'll accept the punishment for my actions" she said to Lot, "Takes courage to admit one's mistake, that is a strength Lt" replied Lot back, "You are lucky, I hereby strip you of your commission and you will be demoted to full crewman. You will earn your commission back and you will be under very close scrutiny until then. Understood?" Trianna understood very clearly, from now on she would be on her best behavior. "I better go and apologize to my father for nearly killing him earlier" she said, "Would be a start crewman" replied Lot.

                            "Hello Doctor."
Nanyta Lot looked up from her desk to see Heath standing there. The air of calm mixed with... smugness that radiated off her made her very nervous. The smile on her captain's face didn't help.
I don't remember doing anything wrong... this week, she thought. The smugness coming off her tangible.
                            "Did I do something wrong?"
"Oh far from it," Heath replied. "In fact you're going to do me a big favor."
                            "I am?"
                            "Yes you are."
                            "How?"
"You see," Heath explained. "We are halfway through our refit and the crews are getting restless. So the other captains and I have arranged an inter ship competition."
"I see. And you want me to get our representative ready for it. No problem. What kind of drugs to you want me to pump in to them?"
"Not quite. You see, you're our representative."
The PADD slipped from her fingers as she stood.
"ME? YOU WANT ME TO COMPETE AGAINST KLINGONS, ORIONS, ROMULANS AND... WHATEVER ELSE THEY HAVE ON THEIR SHIPS?"
"You seemed to be the perfect choice."
"I'm five foot nothing! They can throw me across the room with one hand! Captain... I know I've a been handful at times..."
                            "'At times'?"
"Alright constantly. But I don't deserve this."
"You sure you don't want to do it?"
"I... wait... you're hiding something. What kind of contest is this?"
"I just thought that you'd be interested in an inter ship drinking contest," said Heath turning to leave. "But if you don't want to..."
Heath would later swear that Naynta climbed on her desk and leapt over her to block her leaving.
"I'M THE WOMAN FOR JOB CAPTAIN! BRING IT ON! I'LL DESTROY THEM ALL!"
"That's what I want to hear. Although I should mention the Valiant is sending her chief medical officer as well."
"Jodi? Ha! I'll drink that long legged wench under the table."
"Good to hear," Heath said heading out the door. "17:00 tomorrow onboard the Resurrection."
"Good. They can treat the lightweights on the spot when they pass out."

                            Valdez residence, Betazed (MU)

Nathan Valdez was not taking being put on enforced medical leave very well, to pass the time he had been playing his "classical" music collection. "Dad's playing purple haze again mother" said Trianna smiling, "Trianna, you're like your father, interesting taste in music." said Teanna. Suddenly there was a chime on the door and Trianna answered it, "Trianna, Mrs Valdez" said Naynta Lot as she entered the house, "Took me a while to find this place, when did you get this?"

Valdez walked in and answered "Have a seat Naynta, got it last year. Got 5 acres of land and no idea what to do with it, Teanna had suggested using it as a nature preserve" "Is that "classical" music?" asked Lot. "In a sense yes, it's Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne" replied Valdez. "Not bad" responded Lot, "Naynta, I'm not taking this well. I want to be back in the thick of it, it's where I'm at my best" said Valdez, "But you are stuck down here, Nathan Valdez vs boredom" joked Lot in an attempt to cheer him up. "Funny, sarcasm" thought Valdez and he smiled with slight laugh. "Mission accomplished" joked Lot, "Mother heard about what happened, no sympathy though. I'm not surprised at the amount of issues me and my sisters have put her through." "Same on Terra, the young make life hell for the old" replied Valdez. Lot's communicator bleeped and Lot was called back to the Los Lobos, "I'll see you later, someone's broken my ship, try not to go insane too quickly" said Lot and she left the house. "Have fun" thought Valdez

"Trianna, can you come over, need a quick word" said Valdez, Trianna came in from the kitchen and sat down. "Peace negotiations?" asked Trianna sarcastically. "We've both been idiots and made some questionable decisions" said Valdez openly, "So true" said Trianna, "an old Terran saying, time to bury the hatchet?" "You took the punishment for it willingly, from now on what happened in the past stays in the past. Fresh start, I failed for not listening" said Valdez. "We both failed" admitted Trianna, "we cannot be fighting each other." Valdez agreed and finally both generations finally saw eye to eye. "Let me guess, still under house arrest?" asked Trianna, "Nothing I can do about that" replied Valdez.

Valdez then decided to smooth things over with Teanna as he walked into the kitchen area to get a coffee, "No caffeine, doctor's orders Nathan." said Teanna. "Actually, I may have been an idiot recently" admitted Valdez, "You have, but I can understand why you retired me. I'm not mad at that, it's a common fault among military types to run their household military. We need to be a team.... I'll run the household, you help bring Trianna up." replied Teanna, "you're forgiven, I prefer civilian life anyway. Call it a test of our marriage and we passed it."

"20 years together" said Valdez, "You've come a long way from the young MACO I met and married all those years ago" replied Teanna. "I might have a way of focusing Trianna's anger issues" said Valdez, "Go on" replied Teanna. "Let her loose on the punching bag in the gym." "She's a good boxer, someone insulted her and she knocked him clean out with a right hook to the jaw." said Teanna. Trianna walked in as Teanna was whispering something in Valdez's ear, she backed away slowly and left the room saying "I'm going to need therapy"

Valdez saw the funny side of it and Teanna just smiled and laughed.

                              Valdez residence, Betazed (MU)

Nathan Valdez was in his lounge working on a project, "What are you working on there?" asked Trianna walking in after another session on the punching bag. "I'm building a guitar, something to keep my mind occupied" replied Valdez. "Nice, I've been developing my boxing technique." replied Trianna, "float like a butterfly and sting like a bee." "Trianna, did you just quote Ali?" asked Valdez. Trianna smiled, she had grown up watching the classic boxing matches of the mid-late 20th century.

Trianna sat down and said "Computer, Pantera Cowboys from Hell" and she relaxed, Valdez decided to take a break and went into the kitchen trying to get around the strict diet he had been put on only to be busted by Teanna, "What did the doctor say?" asked Teanna to which Valdez responded "strict diet." Teanna smiled and replicated him a cup of Betazoid tea instead. "Try this, much better for you" said Teanna. "Computer, lower music volume" ordered Teanna, "much too loud and aggressive"

"Trianna seems calmer since you let her use the gym downstairs, she's actually improved on her self discipline" said Teanna, "I've seen her break a man's arm when she's angry, she has my Terran temper and aggression." replied Valdez to which Teanna replied "and my mental strength" Both Mr and Mrs Valdez now both decided on the best way to bring Trianna up, "You help her with her Terran side and I'll help her with her Betazoid side, deal?" asked Teanna. Valdez agreed, it was a new chapter for the family.

"Who's going to break the news to her?" asked Valdez, "Trianna, can you come into the kitchen, family meeting" said Teanna. Trianna walked in and sat down at the table. She listened to both her parents and even gained some concessions from them. "I need more personal space and somewhere where I'm alone with my thoughts." said Trianna. "You can have my old office, it's quiet and out of the way if you need to have some time to yourself" said Valdez. "Thanks" replied Trianna, "can I put a punching bag in there?" "Your inner sanctum, up to you" replied Valdez. Teanna smiled, "You two and your negotiations" she said to which Valdez said, "I'm teaching her diplomacy." "Been very diplomatic" replied Trianna laughing.

"So Trianna, up for a few rounds on the punching bags?" asked Valdez, "Bring it Dad" replied Trianna. Teanna smiled, "Those two are as bad as each other" she thought as the door chimed. "Naynta, come in." said Teanna and she showed Lot to the gym. "Mrs Valdez, those two are getting on with each other. What happened?" asked Lot. "Nathan and Trianna had a one on one talk, it cleared the air and both of them have learnt to accept each other's faults" replied Teanna, "She's a whole new Trianna" noted Lot as she watched Valdez teaching Trianna the basics of balance when striking. "Trianna, strike at me" said Valdez and Trianna swung a right hook but Valdez moved aside and tripped Trianna, "That's why you need to get your footwork right" said Valdez as he helped Trianna up. "Noted" said Trianna as she caught Valdez right on the jaw with a right hook.

"Mean right hook" said Lot, "Thanks maam" said Trianna. "Trianna, I'm not on duty, no uniform no formalities. Call me Naynta" replied Lot, "So your father is teaching you to improve your boxing technique." "Yep float like a butterfly and sting like a bee" replied Trianna. "You ever tried knife fighting Trianna?" asked Lot, "I prefer to use my fists" responded Trianna and Lot smiled. "That'll be sore for a few days Nathan" said Lot not showing any sympathy. "She got me good, good strike Trianna" replied Valdez, "keep practicing, remember footwork, learn to use both left hooks and right hooks in rhythm with your body's movement. Your hooks are good but try and mix them up with hay-makers and uppercuts, it'll keep an opponent guessing to your next punch comes from."

"Nathan, I see you have not gone insane yet" joked Lot. "Funny" replied Valdez, "I need to find an ice pack" and both friends went into the kitchen area. "Computer, two Betazoid teas" ordered Valdez and he passed one of the cups over to Lot, "When did you start drinking Betazoid Tea?" asked Lot. "Earlier today, Teanna insisted." replied Valdez. "I don't envy you, being put on a strict diet is not my idea of fun." replied Lot smiling. Trianna walked into the kitchen and and ordered a Mocha from the replicator. "Dad, your ice pack" said Trianna as she passed Valdez the ice pack from the freezing unit.

"How did they break your ship?" asked Valdez. "One of the engineers accidentally shut down the computer core, don't worry I had the guilty party disciplined suitably" replied Lot. "Playtime with you, not for the faint hearted" joked Valdez. "Funny" replied Lot smiling. "Painful is more accurate" said Trianna, "I'm never getting on your bad side again." "Trianna, you have the potential to be a great officer, don't waste that second chance" advised Lot. "I won't" replied Trianna. Trianna left the room and went to her inner sanctum, Valdez and Lot spent the next few hours telling their old war stories and having a few laughs. "I'll catch you later, I need to get some rest. On duty at 0600" said Lot, "Tell my captains to behave themselves." replied Valdez, "I will" responded Lot before she beamed up to the Los Lobos.

Teanna walked into the room and said "Nathan, at home you are all mine, on your ship you are in charge" and Valdez smiled. Trianna walked in at the same time and again backed out very slowly saying "Do you want to give your daughter nightmares?" Both Mr and Mrs Valdez both saw the funny side before Teanna said to Trianna afterwards, "It'll happen to you eventually, I was only 21 when I had you." "I'm only 20, time to grow up." replied Trianna.

Cerys was supervising the upgrades to the Peleliu, "Message from Los Lobos maam" said Cmdr Forster. Cerys read the message and smiled, "Drinking contest on the Resurrection 1700 hours tomorrow." Forster smiled and volunteered to represent the Peleliu. "No offense John, the last we went drinking I had to help carry you back home." said Cerys laughing about it. "Says the Vulcan who tried to out drink a Klingon, you and blood wine don't mix" replied Forster. "At the academy, we would literally drink half the bar at Club 602 and somehow get to class the next day" said Cerys and Forster laughed before saying "Good times"

"You spoken to your parents on Earth yet?" asked Forster, "I did, they keep telling me to come home when I'm on leave" replied Cerys. "You should, they brought you up as their own" replied Forster. "Thanks John, you're a good friend." responded Cerys. "So who's representing the Peleliu?" asked Forster, "I will, I'm the Vulcan with a strong tolerance to alcohol" said Cerys laughing. "I'll be ready to carry you back home" replied Forster seeing the funny side.

                                I.S.S. Astute, Betazed System (MU)

Nathan Valdez was back on active service and he felt like a new man, seeing that his crew were on downtime he decided to visit his departments and talk to his crew. In engineering he had a open and honest talk with his engineers, "I know I may have been tough on you all and I value your services." One of the engineers spoke up, "Sir, there have been times where you have too tough on us" "Your name ensign?" asked Valdez, "Porter sir." replied the ensign.

"Thank you for your honesty, what's your job Porter?" said Valdez, "I make sure the the intermix chambers are working sir", my last CO had me transferred to the Astute for questioning his lack of crew safety in engineering." "If you have concerns, be honest about them" replied Valdez. "Will do sir" replied Porter and she saluted and got back to her post. "Chief, how are the engines?" asked Valdez "They're a newer design sir, plenty of teething troubles with them but I'll iron them out" replied Cmdr Imozel, "Just don't kill yourself by overworking yourself chief, oh and have your people remove the booths, they're counter productive" responded Valdez. Everyone heard what Valdez had said about the booths and they promised to do their jobs to the best of their ability, "That'll be all" replied Valdez and he left for the mess hall.

In the mess hall, it was full of life and Valdez walked in to visit the officers and crew in the mess. "Admiral on deck" said crewman Webster and all the crew in the mess hall stood to attention, "At ease, I'm here to talk to you all, think of it as an impromptu meeting. Some of you have fallen foul of me in the past and will be given amnesty and a fresh start" said Valdez. "Sir with respect, we're with you." replied Webster. "You all need a bit of competition so 1800 hours, fight night in the cargo bay. All ranks will take part including myself and the bouts picked by dog tags. Webster, pass word around to all departments" responded Valdez. The crew in the mess hall cheered, it was a chance to blow off steam. Valdez then left for sickbay hearing the crew in the mess hall laugh and joke with each other.

In sickbay Valdez spoke to the medical staff, "Doctor, everything good down here?" Doctor Jorel was frank and honest about it, "I placed an order with requisitions about restocking our medical supplies but in their infinite wisdom, they decided we were not a priority" "Well doctor, that won't do, I'll speak to the requisition officer on Betazed about your supplies and you will get your resources" replied Valdez. "Thank you sir, makes my life easier" replied Jorel. "Doctor I'll need your services at 1800 hours, fight night in the cargo bay. Expect plenty of concussions" replied Valdez and he set off for the bridge.

On the bridge Cmdr Solat was running tactical simulations testing the bridge crew. "Solat, you've done one hell of a job as acting captain. I'm promoting you to the job full time." said Valdez as he put the new chevrons on Solat's shoulders. "Thank you sir" replied Solat. Valdez went to each station talking to the officers and asking them about their jobs, he was trying to get to know his crew better. "Dammit" yelled Townsend, Valdez went to her station and asked what the problem was, "These new sensors sir, whoever installed them misaligned them." replied Townsend, "Not a problem, you need a hand?" asked Valdez. "Admirals usually don't get their hands dirty" replied Townsend. "I was at your rank once, I'll give you a hand." replied Valdez.

Valdez then asked Townsend "You have a first name?" "It's Camille sir" replied Townsend, "Sounds very British Isles" responded Valdez. "I'm from London sir, my brother dishonored the family so I joined to restore my family honor" replied Townsend. "A noble goal Lt, you have a reason to succeed. What's I'm after is to see you reach your full potential" replied Valdez. "May I ask where you are from sir and you joined?" responded Townsend. "I'm a Yukon kid, grew up fighting in the resistance during the Alliance occupation, Got smuggled off world and I joined MACO on a drunken bet. Who knew getting hammered at Terok Nor would lead to where I'm today" replied Valdez laughing.

"With respect sir, you've gotten us out of of danger so many times, your resistance days have given you that survival instinct. It's kept us alive, for which I thank you. Sensors are realigned sir." replied Townsend, "thank you for the talk and the assistance" "No problem Camille, succeed and you achieve your aim in life" replied Valdez as a call came in from Betazed.

He then went into his ready room to take the personal call, it was Trianna with news, "Dad I handed my retirement from Starfleet in, Sito accepted it. I'm not of the right caliber for the fleet, it means I can spend more time with family" "So what are you going to do?" asked Valdez. "Cyber Security on the Civilian net, it pays very well" replied Trianna, "Got to go I'll put mother on" Valdez was talking with Teanna for an hour before both ended the call and Valdez put his feet up on the desk and thought "It's good to be back"

"Computer, put me through to Admiral Lot" ordered Valdez, "Nayta, would a team of your best fighters be up for a bit of competition? My best fighters vs your best fighters, I'm letting my crew blow off some steam, all ranks included and bouts are picked by dog tags. 1800 hours in the Astute cargo bay"

                                    I.S.S. Astute (MU)

It was fight night on the Astute, Naynta Lot had accepted the challenge and brought her best fighters along. "Naynta, very impressive" said Valdez. "These are my angriest and most aggressive fighters" replied Naynta, Valdez then got things rolling by drawing the first two fighters. Tamiko and Townsend stepped into the ring and Jorel acting as referee started the fight, both crews were cheering their side and some even had a gambling pool taking bets.

"You aware of the gambling pool Nathan?" asked Naynta. "Relax Naynta, they're having fun." replied Valdez, Tamiko won the first fight at round 4 and Townsend apologized for losing, "Camille, no need. It was a good fight" replied Valdez. The next fight was Sydom vs Krasnova, "Touch gloves and I want a clean fight" said Jorel. It was a close fight with both Sydom and Krasnova going hell for leather at each other, Krasnova knocked down Sydom with an uppercut to the jaw and Jorel declared Krasnova winner by TKO at round 3. "Adrienne, nicely done." said Valdez. For the rest of the fight night both crews traded wins and losses.

Each crew were even on scores by the last fight and it was drawn by the last 2 dog tags. Lot vs Valdez with crew and ship pride on the line. Both stepped into the ring and gloved up, the roar from both crews was deafening as they yelled their support for their respective commanders. "Is this where I make it 2-0? "joked Naynta, "More like 1-1" replied Valdez as both both admirals touched gloves and got the fight started. Valdez's 6 foot 4 height towered over Naynta's 5 foot height, Valdez used that extra reach to score an early strike on Naynta but she countered with her speed and maneuverability chipping away with the jabs. Naynta took the first round but Valdez took the 2nd, both fought tenaciously as rounds 3,4,5 and 6 went past.

The cargo bay was a sea of cheering and gambling as both crews enjoyed the fight. Both admirals refused to quit and the fight eventually got to round 12, it was the final round and whoever won this round won the tournament. Naynta using her speed to avoid Valdez's power but Valdez caught her right in jaw and knocked her down with a left hook with only 10 seconds to go. Jorel declared Valdez the winner and Valdez helped Naynta up. "Tough fight" said Valdez, "Good fight" replied Naynta as both admirals were getting medical treatment having battered and bloodied each other. "1-1, 5 feet of fury" replied Valdez and Naynta laughed.

Several hours later, Valdez was in his quarters and Naynta chimed the door, "Enter" said Valdez. Naynta walked in a took a seat, "Something is chewing you up Nathan, want to talk about it?" asked Naynta. "An anniversary I have dreaded Naynta, 30 years to the day I saw my family on Terra executed by firing squad. No 10 year old kid should see that." replied Valdez, "I escaped the camp and was found by the resistance." "Did you find the scum who killed your family?" asked Naynta. "We tracked the Cardassian down to an Alliance outpost and we caught him and I fired the shot that killed him" replied Valdez, "my first kill was at 12 years old." "Nathan, take strength from your past" advise Naynta, "you survived and that's what counts." "I was smuggled off world at age 15 by a Betazoid transport and eventually ended up on Terok Nor, although I was too young for the MACOS, I got drunk and joined them as a bet" finished Valdez. Naynta laughed before saying "And look where it got you, new lease of life and a loving family. Don't dwell on your past because it will destroy you, look to the future. Teanna and Trianna are the only family you have left, don't lose them" "Thank you Naynta, you are a good friend" replied Valdez, "That's what friends do Nathan, I've noticed your affinity for my home world and people" replied Naynta.

"Being around Betazoids helped mend some of the wounds, I've called Betazed home for the last 20 years although I found some of their customs a bit strange at first" responded Valdez, "Off worlders can get put off by our customs." replied Lot, "You've assimilated into our culture, how did you meet Teanna?" "During the dying days of the Alliance, my MACO unit was deployed to Betazed, we were ordered to link up with an Inquisitor battalion make our move on the Regent's Palace. We made 3 pushes up those steps, twice we were thrown back but we stormed the position on the 3rd assault. I then noticed a squad of Betazoid resistance with us, we blasted our way in and cleared that building floor by floor and room by room with the resistance fighters working with us. Then the surrender came and we sat down and had a laugh with the Betazoids, I met Teanna there, lets just the others tried it on with her but she shot them down fast and we just got talking, 6 months later married." replied Valdez.

"I picked up on that warrior's bond with you two, both loyal to each other. It's a strong marriage, you did not know it because you were too duty first. 30 years of fighting does not prepare you for civilian life, it's hard because I know from experience" said Naynta, "I also noticed you dealt with the domestic issues, it was not long back you and Trianna were at each other's throats. Now you are both close now, teaching her how to fight has given her self discipline" "I was open and honest by admitting I was an idiot, they both agreed. When me and Teanna are on our own together, Trianna keeps backing out of the room slowly and accusing us of giving their daughter nightmares" replied Valdez laughing, "You evil man" responded Naynta trying to contain her laughter but she failed. "Mind if I recommend that to Jodi?" asked Naynta, "Go ahead, comedic results every time" replied Valdez laughing.

Both friends left the room and Valdez walked with Naynta to the transporter room, "Remember that advise" said Naynta just before she beamed off the ship after counting her crew.

"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."
