STO will be on separate servers for each console and PC and won't have foundry access
"I can't speak with certainty about the current situation, but when we were moving Neverwinter to the XBOne, it was forbidden by Microsoft to allow cross-platform play. That included PC/console.
At present, the plan is to use Neverwinter's server model, with a separate server per platform."

indeed! but that Microsoft notion is no longer true... Cryptic could make PC-X1 cross-platform while we wait on Sony to go x-platform too which I doubt it'll take forever...
I wonder if the TOS Faction will be "the" faction at first and when that expansion set is over we will get to choose our pathways to Romulan, Federation, Klingon.

geko was coy on that point when asked by the presenters of priority one. no idea for now.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
considering that consoles have a set setup under the box cover, it would mean that there is only so far the developers can go with the tech supplied. so in the end simplicity can work for a console as it maybe required to keep the demands in a reasonable range, for example view range is lessened, line of sight as well in order to compensate for the higher graphics quality. for a pc that isnt needed because it can be constantly upgraded to exceed the game engines limitations.
Whilst true, I was under the impression that STO graphics could be a lot better if Cryptic desired. The only reason some of it is poor is because Cryptic don't want to alienate people who don't run powerful computers.

I'm not quite sure how that would work. If the new TOS faction is fed only, then once we level up enough, how are we suppose to become a Romulan, Klingon, Reman, Gorn or Orion? We're already a Federation character/species.
1: Will PC accounts be allowed to transfer or link if so will LTS's still get benefits.
2: How will controls work as console cant handle the amount of skills that we currently use on the PC
3: is going to be a direct port or built for the console.
5: are they changing PC controls to what the Consoles are getting.
1. Highly unlikely. Other games have had this issue and it's the issue with PlayStation and Xbox itself, not them. Just to expand on this a little more, in some cases you can go from the consoles and transfer over to PC no sweat but not the other way around...which of course helps us exactly zero.
2. Only way I see it being possible is by picking you skills you'd like to use during combat and bind them to a button. E.G. BFAW skill will be used for the X button. Obviously these can be changed to the players liking. It's questionable if there is still enough buttons but it is doable.
3. I'm sure it'll be like what they did with NeverWinter
5. (but I think you mean 4. ) Doubtful and prey they don't.
Retired. I'm now in search for that perfect space anomaly.

If we start out as a temporal agents, where we surgically altered, to pose as TOS Federation.

I suppose that would work, but I did like the idea of being a character from the 23rd century with no knowledge of the future. An all too convenient plot theme here.

I think he is wondering if everyone playing on the console is limited to the TOS faction initially. Then when the TOS story missions have all been completed the "normal" Federation, KDF and Romulan will be unlocked for players to create new characters.
Well I know in ESO they allowed PC players to transfer there accounts to consoles and it worked out just fine.. All I know if they don't allow it then I wont be playing the X Box one version or helping any friends on the system that may get it that don't have a PC to play it on as I'm not starting the grind from zero again.. as well as the money spent on ships already not going to pay for them again.
For those who have seen the xbox server when testing connectivity this was a long time coming and in the works.
I see this going a few ways.
Console gets better and better with each game release while the PC stays on the same engine maybe even shutting the PC portion down in favor of console (development is more consistent, don't have to worry about what computer setup someone is using)
or
Both Console and PC get engine updates at some point

OMG, OMG, rebuilding an account... jeebus... I hope the accounts are at least convertible or transferable... also Sony allows crossplatform play...

The skills (at least) are going to be dumbed down for the console version of the game; there will be less skills to choose from.
The console version of the game will most likely be build from the pc version, so I suppose it'll be modified port.
What happened to number 4?
No. The two versions of the game will be running from different servers. PC controls wont change. Console controls will obviously be new.

They do but not transfer, unless they changed their minds from a few years ago.
