new aux scaling means that I don't lose as much per tick when the weapons suck down my aux and I'm not in a hyper-overcap mode...
I still see it as a net loss. If the benefits of lower power are so large that having cannon aux drain results in a net boost, that means overcap will get hit hard, and from what I read, overcap is where the power really picks up, and where the initial boosted cannon hit really counts.
Right now the only thing going for the Vesta's specialty, aux-dhc, is the damage drop off equalization with beams.
We spent all winter season obtaining the Rezreth with its +5 all subsystem overcap starship trait ability, now science (and possibly shields) power levels get that much less out of that especially for ships lacking OSS or an overcap warp core. On paper the altered slope may look small, but in actual battle the lowered output adds up to something significant.
I won't have my hyper-damaging GW III in the setup because the proposed aux scale gimps it's damage down,
GW is one of the few Sci powers that got a buff from this upcoming update. The current (Holodeck) GW did not benefit as much of the other abilities from PrtGs (less than 0.5% per point) so with the new normalization, it got a significant buff. Enough of a buff for it to be more powerful even with scaling Aux at 130.

You're right. Currently on tribble a lot of science powers are nerfed, but I'm waiting until this week's tribble patch to make a judgment on that since there's a lot of science fixes coming.

Waiting too. I'm cautiously optimistic that the drain nerf will get adjusted. The way I figure out ability/power equations versus the reality is different, although equivalent, so if Borticus makes an adjustment to plasmonic leech or energy siphon, he has to change one number (Not the normalization one) and then I have to see how it scales.
I think all the other science stuff is all getting fixed already like gravity well size.
