I mean really, making a thread about the same old marketing schlock that every Producer says about every game, true or not?
How I read it - "We're making more stuff for the game (duh), I wonder what the player base is expecting us to do (because it probably won't match what our plans are)."
^this... or that 'we need ideas, ask the players so we can ignore those.'
Hm...what might come next? let me think... I think a new episode . this time with either Archer or Daniels, well help out the nx01 crew, well shadow all the captains in some missions and then we will untangle time. Furthermore I think there will be a Mirror Episode in wich we either are members of the Empire or inflitrate them to stop them.
In the end the timeline corrects but the tholians wont stop, so well fight them again for some kind of feature or mini season.
Ship wise there will be T6 versions of the Sovereign and possibly the Saber. and a new Specialization.
At that time we`ll have enough information on the new TV show and there might be some teasing about it in sto. When that finaly launches it will be about the enterprise F so sto becomes semi canon .
Interest in the game rises again to unknown levels and we will see all the stuff we always only dared to dream about in game.
Usually, things do not get as big as we think they would from initial hype. I think that's not simply hype, it's also because the devs know a lot better what is realistically to achieve.
But hey, if I wanted to go big:
Exploration System. Genesis II: Electric Bugaloo. Now 3rd Dynasty Borg free.
What I would enjoy: Monthly missions, similar to last year.
Lots of new ships is pretty much a given. It's basically how they afford to do the rest.
In all fairness, the man handled the new boff training superbly! So maybe some good will come of it, after all.
You mean the one that was entirely done so they could shoehorn BOff abilities into lockboxes? The one that lead to KLW resulting in some of the most rampant game imbalance to date?
Yeah... that was... awesome.
As if Cryptic has never managed to create imbalanced abilities before, and only could specifically do it thanks to the BOFF revamp. IIRC, it was in fact that specializations were introduced shortly before the BOFF revamp - with all the ugliness that meant under the old system.
The BOFF revamp was excellent. Quite possibly the single best quality of life improvement in the game and over due since basically the launch of the game. (Not that there weren't plenty other good improvements.)
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I mean really, making a thread about the same old marketing schlock that every Producer says about every game, true or not?(...)
My thoughts right here. I can't believe people still give a squeal about marketing speak.

yes, 'huh...'; the only pricing anomaly, and one they honestly should've stuck with - 250 per tier instead of 500, so we'd end up with:
T1 at 500, T2 at 750, T3 at 1000, T4 at 1250, T5 at 1500, T5.5 at 1750 and T6 at 2000, because no single digital item that ISN'T an entire game should ever go above 20$
That sums it up for me, I was very recently almost willing to crack open the wallet in an unprecedented move for a ship, until I saw how little zen my money actually would get in this game! If I'm going to spend money in an MMO, I expect far more mileage than what we have now when one can buy several decent games off steam for the price of a single ship, or worse, a ship bundle!
Big stuff, eh, ships of course. What other big stuff is there in the shop. I expect T6 versions of good T5 sellers, the Vesta, the Andorian escorts, perhaps the Caitian carrier. That is what it looks like.
Now what I hope. More ships yeah, we are talking about big stuff afterall. But more sub faction ships. The Vulcan science ship, D'Kyr, more Nausicaan, Orion and Gorn ships, perhaps some Ferasan ships?
But subfaction ships are nice of course, but they only get more colour, more intent to buy them, if those subfaction have more colour. Give them a homeworld that can function as a main hub for players.
Perhaps a reset for the amount of XP reward for each mission.
Other than that.. time will tell.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
2016 is the Dominion faction and the opening of the Gamma Quadrant. Playable races are Jem'Hadar Gamma, Jem'Hadar Alpha, Vorta and possibly Founder. The action will take place as antagonists of the Federation and the KDF until the episode Midnight where you become allies. It will be similar to the LoR launch mixed in with Delta Rising but with many lessons learned from both.
Enjoy.
Don't forget: Mandatory opening of Lockboxes, otherwise you don't have a ship and are stuck in your factions' social zone with no way of moving someplace else.

yea... i was stan when i read that tween almost exactly XD
but in all seriousness i dont consider ships "content" they are things to RUN the content in... of which there is little to non off and PvE queues get so boring and repetitive very quickly, need some stuff with some replayability factor in it and moving folks off of working on new lockboxes onto more episode content and hopefully that new exploration system already.
The BOFF revamp was excellent. Quite possibly the single best quality of life improvement in the game and over due since basically the launch of the game. (Not that there weren't plenty other good improvements.)
Yep, the boff revamp was awesome! And the players love it! (No, really, they do). Like I said, I'm not really looking forward to a skill tree revamp, but, by golly, that could actually work out too.
If a skill revamp is as good as the boff revamp was then i'm cool with that. But please no more pointless meddling just to give something a shiny new UI (e.g. the doff revamp).
As for new stuff:
More new ships until we are drowned in the darned things, new FE's, more ever crazier lockboxes, nerfs, lack of communication on changes, excuses.....the list is endless, but most will be nothing new.
P.S. I still want more ship slots. This whole dry dock thing isn't working out for me (as your stored ships' loadouts lose their tray configuration, making the loadouts all but worthless in the process).
Ya know, we don't even get new missions anyone. Has anyone else noticed this? They are just advertisements for their newest cs/lobi/lockbox ships.
I know, it's been weeks since they released their last episode! If they can't be bothered to churn one out every day then they might as well pack it all in and open up a ship model company.
You obviously don't know how much time it takes to produce these featured episodes.
I think the current estimate is that the episodes probably take around a month to build if they have to build the art from scratch. They also have to have some new characters modeled, and if they're building a new enemy, they have to have them programmed. There's also the script they have to write and the voice actors that they have to get to record the lines.
Sure, they could probably pump out an episode a day if you wanted it to be crappy. If you want the quality they have been giving, you need to give them more time to do them.
Hm, what I think? T6 versions of popular ships like the Regent, Vesta and possibly Kumari. Probably more specialisations and new voice actors (I think they said somewhere that more are coming).
What I hope to see? All of the abovementioned things are nice, plus a T6 Star Cruiser, new playable species (Voth for example) and some small things like event ships returning, and more C-store stuff but something different than just new ships. Like new species, new unique devices, new bridges.
Some stuff added to planets like Andoria and Vulcan, a reason to go there even if it's for mini-games.
Would be nice if we could get an option to build our own planet, maybe a small and customisable colony, either as a personal or fleet holding. I know, not realistic to expect this last thing, but well... the question that was asked was rather open-ended
Yes, the next holding would be great as a Colony, preferably in the Gamma Quad!
I am surprised we haven't heard anything yet about what will be happening in Season 12 (Expansion 3?). It's been five months since New Dawn hit the servers.
I'm not surprised at all. Season 12 is still 2 months away.
How about something like this plan for the year....... HONESTY!!!! INTEGRITY!!! I get that your all very worried about your profit margins but just in case you've forgotten....WE ARE THE ONES WHO ACTUALLY PAY YOUR BILLS AND YOUR EMPLOYEES!!!! Yes that's right, WE, the STO / NW (and all of your other games) community. We give you our money to buy ships and gear and what-not....and then you pay your expenses and staff and what-not. So is it really that hard to to accept that when you lie to us and feed us $#!+ that your profit margins will FALL!?! How many have you lost? How many will you lose?
DOOOOOOOM!!! Shame on you. Back up your claims first and no claims of maps/STF's are quiet. I see more people now than 5 years ago!
Big stuff in store for 2016? Don't let your ego write checks your developers can't cash.
What do I think will come next? More lockboxes, reputation sliders, overpriced ships in the C-store, and banal content that is just repackaged stuff we have already, only slightly different in order to accomodate a paywall.
Prove me wrong, I'll be the first to admit it. The game has gotten stale. There's little to no innovation. The R&D revamp was the last inspired game feature I can think of. The Iconian War did not have the pomp and fanfare I expected from a story that took 5 years to tell. I'm seeing some much needed improvements in the quality of life, and I'm seeing some real meaningful effort with improving communication and dialogue with your players.
But on the whole, it really looks like Cryptic is just phoning it in season after season. Berman and Braga phoned it in on Enterprise. Don't be like Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. Don't let STO become Enterprise.
Challenge yourselves. Take more gambles. Do something we've never seen before. And for the love of Sisko, try to do it ethically.
I see my expectations for this game in 2016 transported well in @iconians post.
At the very least I have hopes that we won’t face another Delta Rising any time soon. It’s sad to admit it but I rather accept a stale game than such an expansion ever again.
*SIGHS* I thought DR was a great expansion, and the fact that Cryptic caved and nerfed NPC's because people claimed they could cope with them (
Perhaps a reset for the amount of XP reward for each mission.
Other than that.. time will tell.
FE Replay has been confirmed, but no date set (so far).
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
You're focusing on the negative. On the other end, we don't have to get a TRIBBLE ton of BOffs for different ship builds now.
I never had a TRIBBLE tonne of BOffs for different builds. I used builds that worked, and rarely had to sub out more than one or two, if any, thus did not require backup builds with applicable BOffs. Thus the result of the revamp for me was almost entirely negative, making it very easy to focus on the negative.
Kimocite may have been a rough patch, but as someone who doesn't PvP I'm not really affected by it.
When people can drop into an STF with several others running KLW who annihilate the enemy quickly enough and with high enough numbers that the poor folks get an AFK penalty despite contributing what little they could beside it... you realize that you really don't have to PvP to be affected by it.
KLW would have happened eventually, I'm afraid.
At any rate, as someone who prefers easily adapting to a situation, I'm definitely on Rattler's side here. It pains me (quite literally - my ship blows up! ) to see KLW when I dabble in PvP, but being able to switch out abilities as needed is a very good thing.

Yeah. You can actually see some of this in the reputations themselves - they did a bunch of interesting stuff with Nukara and Dyson (EV suits and assorted consoles, respectively, not to mention the reputation revamp that accompanied Dyson), but now it's just "weapons against group X, one set of anti-X ground equipment, one set of anti-X core ship equipment, one set of anti-X ship weapons and consoles consisting of an energy weapon, a torpedo and a console".
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
Speaking of which, in the Terran battle zone, the woman who says we have a little time to regroup before the Terrans return, is that the voice of Tasha Yar? I could swear it is!
Heh - I have to say, I've always hated the way that works. I mean, look at in this way:
Admiral: We're sending you to fight the Borg (or Iconians/Voth/Undine etc etc) and our engineers have developed several items of weaponry/technology that is especially effective against *insert enemy here*
Captain: I understand Sir - when will this tech be installed on my ship?
Admiral: It won't be.
Captain: I don't understand?
Admiral: You'll have to go fight *insert enemy here* with the equipment you currently have first. When you've defeated them succesfully a few times, we'll give you pieces of the tech.
Captain: So wait.... I'm supposed to fight *insert enemy here* to obtain equipment to help me to fight *insert same enemy here*. That makes NO sense.
Admiral: Get out my of office and go and fight *insert enemy here*
I'm sorry. It's stupid.
The old STFs made more sense in that regard. Mk X counter equipment was freely available for EC or basic marks (yeah, the marks are pretty much like we have it now) but in order to get the Mk XII you had to bring in salvaged tech from the field. Kinda like XCOM - bring home alien tech and we reverse engineer it/build a prototype from it.

My hope...even larger and more vast sector space and also the ability to navigate through sector space while remaining on your bridge. Oh! And also...a T6 K'tinga, Kamarag and Vor'cha.
My gut...the advent of T7 ships and Legendary item rarity status.
It would be nice if lifetime got some sort of compensation when skill respecs are made redundant. I'm not expecting any but it would be nice and fair. I've at least 30 still saved which is a good 15000 zen.
