This is the point if the forums!!!

But not everyone comes to the forums.

This is very true, so the Fleet I'm in. Sends out a mail to notify the fleet members and make a fleet message for it as well. So you can see it when you log in.

ever heard of a thing called self reliance.
besides though its nice if someone else gives you the heads up there's nothing as rewarding as being the one that is giving others the heads up for a change rather then just being one of the many who are receiving it.
having said that how hard is it and how long does it take for anyone to have a quick look at the news page every day and find out this information for yourself without just kicking back and hoping someone else will keep you informed.
besides which some players might not play every day and could miss a fleet mail so even more reason to keep an eye on the news page for this kind of thing.

though its true I run a fleet myself and put out warnings of certain giveaways I do it in the hopes that most if not all of the recipients are aware of what's happening anyway.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

You already know this lot will have more than its fair share of lazy people who will come in here and TRIBBLE endlessly aabout how the Anniversary Giveaway should be extended until the next century because they missed it and it wasn't their fault because no one told them about ti.

Hence why I filed my "contrarian" attitude.

Cryptic, by use of their "official" news dissemination method(s) - blog, announcement on launcher, potential e-mail (as I haven't seen one in my inbox yet) - has "done their share".

At this point, as bobbydazlers put it, "self reliance" kicks in. If you care for the game, you'd be looking for these potential tidbits in the usual places (mail, blog, etc.) - and know of the deal. Otherwise, I figure it might be time to question their dedication and... oh well...

If past giveaways were an indication they pretty much stopped giving away ships. It's mostly spec points, ship slots, costumes, R%D packs, maybe three lockbox keys. The time "endgame" ships were given away seems over. Still, I'd be hyped if the D'Kyr would be one giveaway this time pig-1.gif
During the most recent C-Store giveaway (late November/early December 2015) they gave out free T5 ships, one for each faction. I believe the KDF got the peanut ship-err Marauder, Romulans got the Ar'kif, and the Feds got another ship that slips my mind, likely because I already owned it and couldn't claim it as a result.

How does the ship portion of the anniversary work? I am new to the game, and would like to bolster my fleet.

It's very similar to the summer/winter system - earn 1,000 "6th anniversary coins", insert said 1000 coins into a special event project, receive ship on account (all other characters can grab ship from anniversary store).

The "kicker" is that you get 400 coins from running the new mission - this year it's the "Times and Tides" one they're talking about. The remaining 600, coming in at the "standard" 40/day rate, will take 15 days to accumulate, not 25. And the anniversary event usually lasts like 25 days (so it's not going to need you logging in daily like clockwork to earn the ship before the event ends, you get some leeway).

But for the anniversary, they give you a choice of how to earn your 40 daily coins - option one is to go to the academy and play the "find mini-Q in the boxes" minigame, option two is to play the Omega Molecule Collector minigame. And remember, "daily" is once every 20 hours...

They'll also sell "packs" of anniversary coins in the lobi store, for if you miss too many days and/or want to buy your way to the ship earlier than 15 days in...

Most people prefer option 2 (the omega molecule game) because you can build hyper-upgrade kits (no dil to apply, enhanced earnings in the rarity upgrade track) with the stuffs given you from the omega molecule collector game.

I never got why we have to have "1000" vouchers. Why not simply 25? pig-2.gif

How does the ship portion of the anniversary work? I am new to the game, and would like to bolster my fleet.

for the give away like most stuff in the c-store give away works, you log into the game go to the appropriate sub section in this case ships and look for the one that is mentioned in the giveaway blog select it and claim it.
most often when they give ships they do one for more then one faction so you claim the fed ship with a fed character or the kdf ship with your kdf character and so on.
once claimed the ships become account unlocked so you can claim them free on any other characters of the same faction you have or any you create in the future.

if you are new and dont have characters from all 3 factions I would suggest you create any you are lacking now.

for the anniversary event ship they usually give you 400 tokens when you play the feature episode for the first time, after that you play the “Omega Stabilization (Daily)” mission for 15 days and get 40 tokens each day.
once you have 1000 tokens you go to the reputation event tab start the anniversary ship project and submit the tokens to claim the ship.
you only need to do this with one character as the ship is instantly unlocked for every character you have now or create in the future regardless of faction and you can just go to the event reclaim store and claim it.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    Thanks for the answer. :)

When it comes to the Omega Molecules, I research those in the R&D lab right? If so, would getting higher-rarity researchers yield better results?

Because then they couldn't make the early birds buy a bazillion lobi packs to get it day 1.

I'm predicting two things, one of which will be the Academy Uniform for FED players, the other is a T6 Andromeda. The latter will probably be Day 6, the Uniform, probably Day 3 or 4.

I think they chose 1000 because its not so big as too sound unobtainable and not so small to look too easy.
it gives the player the impression that he has done something special each day and been rewarded by a good amount and when he reaches 1000 and gets the ship it gives the player a better impression that he is receiving something of value rather then something small.
surely something worth 25 is of less value then something that is 1000 regardless of the currency used or how many you earn each day.
sure they could have given the ship the price then 100,000 or even a million and just increased the daily amount to make the target but 1000 seems like a fairly easy target but not too easy where a much larger target might seem impossible to reach and put players off.

at the end of the day its all about how we perceive the reward and its value as well as its obtainability on a psychological level.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

They may change the paradigm on the reward for the first run of 'Time and Tide'. If they open up Dailies that reward 40 Marks for 40 Whatevers, after the Account-wide unlock when one character reaches 1,000, awarding the 400 on the first run of the FE means that each character that ran the FE for the first time would have 400 Whatevers. Those that just earned those 400 now have enough to slot that Marks Project for 10 days; no further 'work' needed.

Maybe they don't have those Marks Projects. Maybe only awarded for the first character on an account that plays the FE.

Don't know. Don't know if it matters to Cryptic at all.

it may be that they will make claiming the 400 tokens on one character will block other characters from claiming that bonus or they may leave things as they are, only time will tell.
if they are bothered at all I expect they will have a solution up their sleeves whatever it is.
in the end they may decide that a 400 marks bonus on each of your characters is a just bonus reward for playing the featured episode multiple times in such a short period.
its not a great deal more then the spec point they usually give if you think about it, it only adds up to about 4000 dilithium and you can make that in no time elsewhere in game.

I always like the freebie giveaways at Anniversary time. Although I probably now have everything pwe/cryptic is prepared to give away at no cost to the players for a limited time, it is nice the newer players in my Fleet can have a shot at some of the things I have without jumping through hoops or being locked out because that item isn't available any more.

Even though it's mean, feel free to mock anyone who starts an "I missed the giveaways because I didn't know about them" thread here next week. They have no excuse now :)

Can I still whine about them giving away stuff I already paid for?

I did that for the KDF Fleet I help run, the Kal'enedral, and included the addresses to the appropriate News posts. I figure it's something I can do to help out my fleetmates, especially those that are more inclined to spend their limited rec time in-game rather than staring at the News/Forums. The folks calling it out in Zone and in the Service channels help a lot too each time these things happen... but nothing beats having advance notice, especially when it's timed so that we can even catch the weekend folk.
