I already had the Open Jacket option from the last give away. At least I think I remember it being part of the last give away. I would have enjoyed seeing a KDF/Rom give away of a similar value or item. But there are none. Still free is free and there are plenty of Fed players who did collect and are enjoying the item.
I hope they follow precedent and the item given away on the last day is some sort of ship. I do not need it to be a T6 of some sort. T4 or T5 is more than good enough. Even if all I do is add it to my Admiralty cards.

its doubtful you got the Open Jacket in any give away event as I have been around for every give away event so far and have never missed an item I did not already have.
being as the Open Jacket was an account unlock and I was able to claim it suggests if you already have this item you picked it up somewhere else maybe as part of a previous costume pack purchase or unlock code you picked up somewhere.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I'll concede that they finally did a ship giveaway- however, as "useless" as it is to Admiral level characters, it may as well have been Tier 1. I think my point regarding what they choose to offer to avoid digging into their Zen sales is still valid, regardless.
Sure, we can use the ship card for Admiralty, I suppose.
I also had previously purchased Open Jacket Uniforms and was disappointed over the lack of option because of this. I really think in terms of offerings they should have options for people who've already shelled out money to get things previously.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.
Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

Those ships are not fully useless. It unlocks "skins" to use on the higher level ships you have of the same kind. And in some cases gives you a nice consul or weapon to use as well.
They never offered options, as before I had bought stuff. Then way later have it has a gift. Its OK, things happen like that. Just be happy over they are giving us something. Sure beats nothing at all.

Man I wish people would just say thank you or STFU and show some respect.
They don't have to give you anything free, but they do and therefore people should be thankful. If you've not got the items, say thanks. If you do have the item, bad luck but at least a lot of other players benefited and the thought was there.
Plus the longer STO runs the more likely you are going to own the items so really it's not their fault if they pick items you already got through giveaways or real purchases.
Me personally, I've gotten all of my uniforms bar one from giveaways so plenty more of those would be welcome. As for ships, still a tonne of those I don't own and anything free is always nice.
Some people need to stop being so dammed entitled.
I think the people is missing the point of the word "Gift". It's free and to be honest other games would give you a lousy gift for anniversaries or even make you grind for them, worse none at all.
And I played a lot of MMORPG's. Cryptic may be in a word run by the Ferengi's but they are not bad compared to others. In fact they do a lot better in most things.
So you guys out there on Cryptic, I may not always agree or like some of your decisions but I'm still thankful for the things you do give us and really appreciate it. now if you can do something about the Dil overflow and exchange then maybe we can all be happier... Also if you can actually make PvP more viable for all it would be great.
Plus the longer STO runs the more likely you are going to own the items so really it's not their fault if they pick items you already got through giveaways or real purchases.
Exactly! I now have a half-dozen costume unlocks from past giveaways, plus a fleet of ships. If next year they give away some of the same ones again that's fine. I've gotten to use them for all this time, and it helps the newer players.
Don't forget to claim the KDF or Fed ship on your Romulan character(s) too for the Admiralty card.

you forget we may have another giveaway day to go and as the last day is always the best give away of the bunch there is only one place to go from here.
I would say my statement that T5 or T4 as a possibility is looking to be a good prediction at the moment.
with T4 ships going for 1500zen each that's 4500zen's worth of giveaways today and possibly T5 ships tomorrow I would call that "digging into their Zen sales" quite a bit myself.
having said that I am not entirely sure if there is a giveaway item Sunday as there is conflicting information in the blog.
it says in one part "Every 24 hours, we’ll be giving out a different item" but in another part regarding the T4 ships it says "Log into the game on a character between 10AM PST on Saturday January 30 and 10AM PST on Monday February 1." which give the impression there is no item on Sunday.
either way I am happy and grateful with what we got.

I have given PWE/Cryptic plenty of my money over the years. There's a difference between as F2P user who's never subscribed or bought anything from them and someone who's subbed consistently and bought many times from the C-Store. It's called being a CUSTOMER.
You may see it as being "ungrateful", but that's your perspective. Perhaps you're just another freeloader who's grateful for anything they throw at you- or not. For me it's a little different, but I'll respect your opinion for being what it is.

as a lifetime subber I will agree with @lordsteve1 I have said it before and I will keep saying it, cryptic are without doubt the most generous game company I have ever known.
to date I have received free items to a total value of over $1000, bet theres not many players of games from other game companies who can say that.
whether you are unlucky and cant claim an item or otherwise they deserve our thanks not criticism.
that's called being a good customer.

And to accept what they offer is your prerogative. Not everyone agrees- but calling people out as being "entitled" because they don't exactly agree with what's being issued doesn't quite fit the bill. The point I make here is that not everyone who expresses dissatisfaction is some spoiled brat basement dweller- some of us actually hold jobs, pay bills, are responsible and pay companies like this well and that's the reason they're still in business. (a fact many of them have completely forgotten these days)
I know the value of my money and where I choose to spend it- that doesn't make me "entitled" it means I'm very aware and cautious of who I do business with. Does that mean I hate Cryptic/PWE? No, I just disagree with some of their methods in the way they handle things, and if I didn't like the game I would have quit a long time ago.
Because people disagree on how something is done, doesn't mean they have no right to voice their opinion. Companies don't improve because people kiss their asses and tell them they're doing great and awesome. Much like anything in life, critique is necessary for improvement. If you don't know what you're doing wrong, you won't change it or improve.

If you re-read the thread posts in order- you'll clearly see no mention of whether spending money on the game was mentioned until after a certain post calling people out as being "entitled" was made. Likewise, such an implication is not only bad manners but clearly inflammatory in nature.

sure you have the right to express dissatisfaction, whether its well mannered to do so is another matter entirely.
When I think about everything we've been through together,

and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I for one am grateful for what they give away, even if I own it already. Free is free, if it doesn't help me its going to help others. Dislike something, there is the right way and the wrong way to expressed yourself. I say this from first hand experience. When they did away with the glossy photos, man was I pissed. I expressed that in my commits too. I can say here and now how ashamed I am for showing so much disrespect for the people to make this what it is. A fun free to play game. I have a choice and I made it. I support the game and so can if you want it to get better. I will also show respect to others and should I disagree with one of their discussions I will state it in a professional way. Cryptic, Happy 6th Anniversary and thank you for everything.
Hey you can't complain when its free. No matter the item, whether fleet dil voucher or bank slots or uniforms. Are you paying for it? No! Is it giving another player an advantage in playing? Not really since you have same opportunity to claim the item(s). Are they going to give away the farm or a ship bundle like Commander Crusiers? I wouldn't bet your ship on it, that is a little bit beyond the Dream On statement. So if you don't like the free stuff, don't claim it.
When they do these free giveaways, I don't expect to get a 12000 zen item, just would be ridiculous to think that. To complain they aren't is getting a little, well, I don't know if I would get banned for saying it as it would be using negative comments to you, but the harshest words I can use are greedy, selfish, over demanding.
They could have done no giveaways ever! So be grateful, something or anything has more value than nothing or never.
This time I am sticking up for the Devs,/PWE/Cryptic as a comment about not good enough freebies is insulting to anybody, like getting a x-mas gift and saying, "that is all you got me!"
Sure you might already have it, either by another giveaway or by purchase, they can't sit and do the numbers to see who already has the item from the zen store they are about to give away and decide which one no one has or the fewest people have. they would have no time to patch the game then If you already have it, just means you are getting old as you have been playing the game too long!
Only complaint, doesn't have to do with the free stuff, but notification. I wish they would use the calendar more often and post the events well in advance, like 2-3 weeks for all events, special events and so on. As some events seem to pop up at the last moment, either that or my calendar in game isn't updating properly.
I don't think there's any need to resort to calling people freeloaders or accusing them of not supporting the game financially. Sure there are people who don't spend a penny on the game but they grind out their time/rewards so they are still supporting the game as it provides an active population, showing the developers it's worth continuing. You don't have to pay for something to be supportive of it, how many people globally use Facebook and you don't pay a dime for using that.
I personally have spent over £150 in the game despite being a F2P player. So you may think we're all freeloaders or leeches because you have a sub or whatever but we are more often than not still putting money into the game.
What it boils down to though is that whatever your financial backing of the game is, when something is given out free by the game you should show some dammed respect and be thankful that they have the kindness to give things away. Even if you already have the item at least have the sense and courtesy to say thanks, appreciate the thought even though I already have this item. Whining about it or even worse, insulting the devs as some people have done is just dammed disrespectful and really does make you look like some spoilt entitled kid not happy with a gift he got and doesn't like.
I just want to point out one thing - bein "grateful" for the giveaway. It'sa promotion. Cryptic doesn't do that because they like you so much, it's not a gift of affection. It's promotional material from a company. And the moment you start being "grateful" to a company you have crossed a weird line in my opinion
Complaining about giveaways is equally pointless, though. Either take it or leave it, it's not you lose anything because of it. I personally would have loved a D'Kyr as well, but it didn't happen, no damage done. But discussion about the giveaways, comparing them with former ones, disagreeing with them that's still valid and fine. But complaining/raging is equally pointless as being "grateful" to a company handing out promotional material.

though I can see your point regarding this being promotional and yes I can see how it might seem weird being grateful for these giveaways, the thing is - I play star trek online - I play every day and have done since the first day I started playing, I will continue to play till the day they unplug the server for the last time, I would play whether they give away these items or not because I like the game, sure I am a star trek fan big time but that is just a nice bonus, I would enjoy and play the game just as much regardless of what sci-fi they based it on simply because I like the format of the game.
there is another famous sci-fi game with star in the title I gave a good try and quite frankly it was TRIBBLE, a big disappointment as I am a big fan of that sci-fi also.
therefore the way i see it cryptic could just as easily just offer these giveaways to attract new players only and not give existing players anything, many company's do this all the time to attract new customers.
in that respect yes I do feel grateful because the way I look at it cryptic don't have to give these items to existing players, they do it because they are a generous company and they choose to show their appreciation to us existing customers not only to attract new customers and the amount of stuff they give away for free every year is quite amazing.
so yes I feel grateful and appreciative that the company that runs sto - cryptic - is generous without having to be and you will go a long way to find another game company whos generosity is on a par with cryptics, there are so many other game company's that would not give you the sweat off their back.

Ar’kala Tactical Warbird / Puyjaq Class / Sao Paulo Tactical Escort Refit
Available until Monday:
1. Log into the game on a character between 10AM PST on Saturday January 30 and 10AM PST on Monday February 1
Because that's a T3 ship. If they had given it out people would whine about getting a "lesser" ship.
Sure, we can use the ship card for Admiralty, I suppose.
I also had previously purchased Open Jacket Uniforms and was disappointed over the lack of option because of this. I really think in terms of offerings they should have options for people who've already shelled out money to get things previously.

Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.
I have posted critical comments of some of cryptics choices of some things they have done or not done in the game but criticising cryptic regarding free items that are being given to all players regardless of whether they have spent any money in the game or not is just offensively impolite and bad manners.

If you re-read the thread posts in order- you'll clearly see no mention of whether spending money on the game was mentioned until after a certain post calling people out as being "entitled" was made. Likewise, such an implication is not only bad manners but clearly inflammatory in nature.
Look, I don't want to get into a pissing match here over who's "right" or "wrong"- as I said, my point is that as a CUSTOMER I clearly have the right to express dissatisfaction- and if you choose not to, that's your choice as well.
Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.
sure you have the right to express dissatisfaction, whether its well mannered to do so is another matter entirely.
