Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.

    THEY DESTROY THE ENTERPRISE!!!

    Again...

Perhaps this time, they will get it right when a new one comes along.

Well, I'll just say this then.

I want someone in about 20 years to reboot Star Wars and turn it into a thought provoking science fiction film about exploring the the human condition and the possibilities of the universe we live in. Yup, that should make up for this whole odd mess.

When did they destroy the Enterprise in this series?

So, they weren't satisfied with making Wrath of Khan 2, now they're attemting the destroyed enterptise from ST III too...
And with the director from F&F. Maybe it'll be entertaining but i started thinking they're pulling the leg on us (in italian i'd say "ci stanno prendendo per il culo")....

Well, that looks pretty bad-TRIBBLE, and to quote Jean-Luc Picard: Plenty of letters left in the alphabet...

On the downside, JJ's clearly still having to pull plot points from the original movies (by whatever role he is actually credited with) and I'm disappointed by the new uniforms... No need to change them from the previous format unless they were going to go to an evolution of 'the pyjamas' or the Maroon Jackets... Other than that, looks interesting, and Justin Lin is clearly the right choice to direct such a fast-paced and kinetic movie (the aliens look good too, even if an Asajj Ventress clone...) B)

I think it's got promise this one. More of an adventure taking part on a planet rather than in space, with a seemingly new alien (I had hoped for Klingons, but I'll be pleased with something different). The Enterprise going boom, I can live with. Never liked that version of her, hopefully the refit (or Enterprise-A?) will get given a better look.

When did they destroy the Enterprise in this series?

Well, She pretty much gets the TRIBBLE kicked out of her in STitD, to the point where they have to do a lot of large scale remodeling...
But I was referring more to the overall punishment/destruction She's been made to endure through the years, since ST:TWoK.

Just from my initial viewing it looks like the ship is destroyed and Kirk and crew have to use just their wits to defeat the bad guy....however this could be an opportunity for Lin to make an new Enterprise

This doesn't even look to be bargain bin WalMart material... makes the last Fantastic Four reboot look like Citizen Kane.

WOW, a bit harsh... at least wait and actually see the movie, before completely condemning it.

and this is still, part of JJ-Trek technically.

I think the foes in this might be the Alt-verse Borg. The original idea of the Borg was they were supposed to be insect like with a hive mind and that proved to be too expensive for TV so they went with the cheaper cybernetic foes we know of. In several of the shots there seems to be something swarming the enterprise. I could be wrong though

No thank you. I've seen enough already. I want my 1:33 back....

That's beyond ridiculous. (Pun not intended. )

Seriously, for you to call it "not even bargain bin Walmart material" after a trailer that barely tells us anything about the film?

    Ridiculous hyperbole.

Which definitely looks like a good premise B) As for a new Enterprise though, I wouldn't expect any difference beyond an 'A' being tagged into the registry number ;) (unless they were to veer towards something more like the Excelsior class)

Trailers show action, so no surprise there. Also, I doubt that song will be playing throughout the move. So I'm going to see how this new adventure plays out, then make up my mind.

Remember it took most Trekkers three seasons before they accepted TNG as Star Trek

It looks okay, but it also doesn't reveal much at all, one way or another. To me, this does feels "in-universe" with the other two films, albeit a lot lighter than the last two... which is fine.

I just hope they don't go overboard with the "Kirk as Star Lord" idea that Paramount was whining about a while back.

And, of course, haters will hate.

I stand by my opinion. This looks horrible to me. A definite pass.

    You can certainly do that.

Looks fun. Didn't realise the Enterprise was actually destroyed in my first viewing. Though I'm surprised that was in the trailer. I wonder if that'll get undone somehow, or if it's gonna lead to a new ship?

Still, new aliens, adventure on a planet, no trace of previous films being homaged..... Looking sweet so far.

Giachino will be playing through most of the movie, so there's that...

To be honest, the inclusion of said track, while a nice touch to Star Trek 09, makes about as much sense in verse, as Dom and Han cruising off to pull a job while listening to Track One, Side One, of Beethoven's 5th Symphony... :D I doubt all the musicians in the 23rd century were Space Hippies... TNG at least gave us the Alba Ra B)

So I took the time to watch the trailer, which the way the retail season is going is impressive to say the least hehe, and I'm not impressed. Sure, the enterprise going splat in a movie is fine and dandy, not like it hasn't happened before, but the feel of the movie doesn't make me say "OMG ITS STAR TREK".

I'll still see it to see as I'm a trekkie, plus my husband wants to see it, but I'm not going in with hope that I'll be impressed

Remember when we all went nuts on Star Wars when they had Kylo Ren's lightsaber and how silly it was?

Honestly I'm looking at this from a publication standpoint. Star Wars is hitting critical mass this week, so Star Trek puts out a campy fun action movie to remind everyone that it's looming off in the distance. First grab attention with action, then go in with the deeper philosophical moral conundrum plots that Star Trek can have.

Or it'll be campy. Either way, Kirk really has to get his TRIBBLE together. His Starship insurance must be through the roof.

Oh yes, that may well be my most anticipated thing out of this movie, because Giacchino was REALLY on fire with STID. His score for Trek 2009 was good, for STID it was truly awesome (so much that I bought the soundtrack twice to make sure I got the limited edition complete score--among the best film scores to grace the Star Trek series)...can he top that? We'll see!

(Still need to watch the trailer itself.)
