"I despise the armor. Can't the female version have a bit more femininity to it? If I wanted to look like a football player, I would be playing Madden NFL 16."

That made me laugh. But it's a good point.

Frankly I think female characters should always have the choice to whether they wear either male or female styles. Not all women wear supposedly feminine outfits after all.

And I assume you'd also give males the option to chose between both styles, yes?

How exactly is it a good point!? It's bloody armour. Go put on the spangle Iconian armour if you want something for your curves, if you actually want to be protected, put on armour that doesn't curve :pensive:.

MACO armor wants a word with you. And so does Honor Guard armor.

IMO the armor that looks like Football gear to me would have to be the Delta armor.

MACO suffers from the armour problems of most old armour pieces, it bends like cloth and the boobwindow on the honour guard set is also a bad idea.

    @armor femininity

I prefer my armor in my video games to sit neatly in what I call the "Elder Scrolls Zone", wherein female armor is plainly and evidently female, without compromising the practical satisfaction of full coverage. STO in general errs slightly towards the practical end of the ESZ with its armor visuals, barring only canonical-acceptably cleavage-tacular KHG armor and the hilariously awful but respectably equal-opportunity Iconian metallic spandex.

That is what this new armour is like (other than shaping it for a female chest, an idea that's bad for anti-sword armour but doesn't really effect anything against energy weapons) the female pieces are smaller and more rounded, it's the same with almost all the armours.

That's one of reasons I actually LIKE this armor. (Almost) No curves or boob-shaped chest.

I agree, there should/could be variety in this, and if someone likes boob-shaped/curvy female armor, there's no harm in having that option, but quite honestly, I've been a little too tired of the boob-shaped/curvy stuff on female model/character and this is preferable for me, personally. The curves/booby shaped stuff imho should not be the default/only option in the games, at all. Not everyone likes that, as someone pointed out.

KHG Armor did it the best. Having the (imho attrocious, yes, I don't like it) boob-window version & more resembling the uniformity of the male version. Both sides could go on, pick the one they liked more and be happy.

Technically, it's a picture of Doctor Destroyer (the legit one, not Shadow D). Caliga just kinda ganks his style very heavily, heh.

The Bat'leth also looks super-wicked. I imagine it flips open like a hilariously dangerous switchblade.
What I'm personally curious about is the new Tac Module: Micro-photon Torpedo Launcher. The way the thing is described, it sounds like the player character launches it in some fashion, and not by turret. I'm suspecting that this new module has an animation where you whip out an actual bazooka-like weapon.

    ST: Insurrection style?
  • sorceror01sorceror01 Member Posts: 1,042 Arc User
It's possible. Of all the weapon types we have in the game, a shoulder-sized launcher type is still distinctly missing. And yeah, we do have precedent for it, a la Insurrection's isomagnetic disintegrator weapon.

The one time the armor isnt sexualized for females and people get upset. The rest of the time we're all complaining about how sexualized the female models are in this game.

No wonder Cryptic cant win. Id hate to be in some of your heads.

Hey, naaah, I applauded them for it & hope they will at least keep the trend up, of non-sexualized female models as an option. I'll make sure to applaud them for it some more later again, just so they know not everyone wants sexualized females. :p

Having tested the set it is truly great, which is something I've not said about any other rep sets apart from the Omega sets, as most of them are kinda lame.

The Terran Ground set gets full thumbs up from me.

My my only hope is that the deflector + set bonus add up to more than +40 flow caps. Otherwise, it's just one more set I'll ignore since it does nothing meaningful for science (yet again). Frankly, I'm extremely annoyed that the last 3 reputations have all ignored science and just gone for pure defense and offense boosts.

Femininity and style are by no means coterminous with sexualization. It doesn't have to be a 7 of 9 outfit or an Iconian rep armor to have femininity and style.

i like the new weapon. it looks like a little bit at the HK G11...
Indeed; unlike that prototype weapon, though, it does not appear to use the 'bullpup' configuration - that is, having the firing action behind the trigger group, allowing for a more compact form factor...

Style and aesthetics are an eye of the beholder. Not everyone's perception of those is the same as yours. There's enough 'feminine' and outright sexualized stuff for female characters in this game as it is; even though, one would expect different from Star Trek game. Variety harms no-one. Lack of it, on the other side, is rather tiresome, and if anything, I do hope the devs will go away from the cartoony-style females more in the future, and offer us variety in this regard; so if we don't want to wear skimpy, "feminine" outfits, there is another option for us.

Nothing wrong with wanting "femininity", but I'd rather that to not be the only option, always.
