It is MMO, surely we can wait a week more for content that has quality play value and as less bugs as possible. Please continue this way. Better delayed release than broken release.
Delaying content to make sure it works BEFORE sending out the door?!?!?!
What happened to Cryptic?!?! This is a step towards something that may be good, albeit a small one, but still it's showing that Cryptic is starting to see that more testing and delays are always better than broken content.
I'm gonna add to the chorus of people applauding Cryptic for waiting to release the episode. Due to past experiences with some of the FEs, I had actually made a put of waiting a week to play a given FE after it had come out, specifically to make sure that all of the seemingly inevitable bugs had hopefully gotten worked out. Perhaps this delay will mean that I won't have to worry about that as much.
On the flip side, as neat as it is that they are offering free spec points, especially since it's a nice alternative to the upgrade kits which are just collecting dust in my R&D tab, it would be much better news if they were announcing that they were finally either reducing the XP normally needed to get a spec point or once again increasing the XP we get for actually playing the game.
Still, three free spec points are three free spec points. By the time the mission does come out, and the replays roll around, those spec points will probably be helping to finish off a couple of the spec trees for me....
"There will never be enough blood to wash away my need for vengeance! A single world...I could destroy a million worlds and it would not be enough! Your existence is an insult to the memory of my people! I will continue my fight, even if I must fight alone!"
I'm gonna throw another one in the grats for quality control. Please keep this trend going and don't rush content. I'd rather have it right than in my (or my enemies) hands sooner. I think I might just shed a tear for this.
I'd be pushing my luck to say this but I'd suggest even having a week of review of mechanics that are complained about on the forums after releasing new content. Jump into the game with us and I'm sure the community will show you why they think something is broken or not and then let the dev team figure it out as to how they want to handle it.
Overall, I say you all deserve a glass of Romulan Ale for the great decision.
Last week we announced that we were going to release a new Featured Episode, "House Pegh," on May 21st, and that it would be our next chapter in the continuing Iconian War story arc. Due to a critical technical issue, we are unable to update the game with new builds with tomorrows maintenance. While we have a great mission in-house, we arent able to get the changes that make it that way onto the live server tomorrow.
The inability to integrate these changes for our update has led me to delay the release of the episode until May 28th, which is our next standard weekly maintenance. We could release the episode as it sits on our current build, but after a leads playtest today we determined that we would rather wait a week and release the episode as it is intended to be.
While I can understand there may be frustration in waiting an additional week for content that was previously announced, I hope everyone can understand the reasons behind this decision and that our goal is to deliver a polished and fun mission.
I am pleasantly surprised. Kudos and thank you. I had my doubts about both the QA and CS aspects of the game devs, but this gives hope that all is not lost.
I would personally rather have to wait indefinitely for properly-developed and tested new content that the live game server can handle than have new content released ASAP that is fraught with problems, constantly needs to be patched, and just makes playing the game frustrating rather than fun. Take as long as you need to get the new FE right. I'm confident we'll all be here when you do release it.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Quoted for sheer awesomeness. I am quite happy to wait a week and enjoy the episode, rather than get it early and be frustrated by it. Thank you for this.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
Wow, normally you don't let a little thing like critical technical errors stop you from pushing out a launch. Someone must be finally catching on around there.
Delaying the release of something so that it comes to the players finished and working...
This is a course of action I can fully support - thank you.
Also spec points in boxes... the stuff of dreams
Quoted for truth!
I fully support the dev's for taking this course of action, and being able to get spec points instead of equipment you may or may not use is a very good idea.
While it is a good move, and I thank Cryptic for that, I'm staying cautious until next week, when the episode is released to either be pleasantly surprised at a completely working episode or expectingly disappointed at the number of annoying bugs as usual.
Seriously... Thank you for not putting up more content that is filled with bugs.
Decisions like this should be encouraged both for now and in the future.
I'd rather wait for something that works the way it's supposed to than to try and find workarounds for things that should have been taken care of before getting put on Holodeck.
+1 to the Devs for doing this.

Well, I think this is better than releasing it unfinished and then trying to cover it up with emergency patches...
Maybe you should consider doing the same when releasing unfinished seasons.
thank you for letting us no what is going on. I for one have loads to do in the game still. this delay will give me chance to build my new admiral up even more before it cames out.
I believe you have done the right thing. +1 for telling us strait +9 for doing the right things.10 out 0f 10 is a pass mark in my book.
I wholeheartedly support everything in this announcement. Release schedules are usually defined weeks in advance, if not months, and if there is an issue significant enough to slip a release date, it's probably one that we'll be happy was fixed. Take your time. Do it right. We love the game and we'll wait for good content if it means fewer bugs--especially with good communication like this that lets us know our concerns are being not only heard, but acted upon.
The optional rewards for weekly mission play are also fantastic choices that speak directly to two big aspects of the grind that players seem to hate the most. They're not excessive or unbalancing, but significant enough to make it a no-brainer for anyone to run them. If there is anyone in the game who can't benefit from either a spec point or a tech upgrade, I have to wonder if they're even still playing. XD

Whoever had the idea to delay the episode should just....
...seriously get a substaincial raise!
Seriously. I'd rather wait a week or two longer than getting frustrated for not being able to progress through content.
I wish this would have been done in the past too.
Any chance this means Delta Recruit will stay live one more week? Because I.....farted around and never finished all the arcs on my DR characters
As long as you have done enough of the tutorial to get the communicator, you'll be able to finish with your DR characters even after the event is over... you just won't get the Delta Recruit Trait benefits (i.e. Dil per ikill).

I for one appreciate that you did not release the content. It is apparently broken in some way. I thank you in fact, for not releasing broken content to us. This is a major departure from what has unfortunately become culturally acceptable within the gaming world, where developers will release broken content just because they had a deadline. The delay is to be commended not condemned. You are doing the honorable thing by assuring us a quality product. Again, thank you.

One point for week for playing a single mission that week. You never have to touch that character that week again, but you got that spec point.
It's not one spec per week for grinding 2 hours each day. It's in addition to any other spec points you get.
Yep, that is a good deal.

Anyway I don't think you'll hear many complaints about the delay. I wish you had done it before on several occasions.

I'm planning on timing things so (assuming that the mission still gives experience) I get a spec point and upgrade.
