I don't care if a person doesn't enjoy DS9, I know there are a fair number of em in the Community (of Star Trek in general). What concerned me was that how the show barely having an opinion on it till a fan asked, then you went virtually every podcast since that to saying something bad about DS9. But at least now you admitted it. For a time, I will say that I enjoyed Priority One's podcasts otherwise but after these continued jabs on my fave Star Trek, I am going to stop listening.
Thanks for supporting STO and Star Trek otherwise though, but this is no longer for me.
I love Deep Space Nine, too, but I don't care that much about the podcasters, I care about their guests.
Deep Space Nine was awesome, and It hink they actually managed to show the reality of the Dominion War pretty well. They had the "cold" stuff like reading lists of people that died in the war, as well as the personal ones, where you see people dealing with he war directly. Nog losing his leg, Jake falling into panic when he was put in a combat situation, hard moral decisions for the sake of winning the war.
Of course, it was all focused on Deep Space Nine itself. We got to see maybe a single shot of the aftermath of the Breen attack on Earth, Betazed was only mentioned in passing. But in the context of a show that is set on one location, they did pretty well. Maybe today the story wouldn't be told in this way any more, I don't know. I suspect they would have gone grittier (Ronald Moore certainly did get grittier on Battlestar Galactica). If you look at the show that it was directly running against, and it was often compared to - Babylon 5 didn't do it any different.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
That's opinion for ya. Even with that argument in place, the KDF ships are still underwhelming by a long shot next to Fed sci ships.
No doubt in the least...well, imho...though I was speaking to somebody that didn't care for a KDF Sci and wanted the T6 BoP and a T6 Carrier. All sorts of folks are going to want different things.
Some folks still want the various Escorts (Nausicaan, Orion, etc). Some folks want actual KDF Cruisers with all four Comm Arrays. Some folks want a Dreadnought Cruiser.
Work in folks wanting...species related things there. Some want Klingon ships, some want Nausicaan, Orion, Gorn, Lethean, etc, etc, etc...
Still have the strange feeling that Cryptic's going to do away with the factions at the end of the Iconian story. Destroy everything, then everybody's together...would make things easier for them. He keeps talking about how grim the war's going to be...
Same for me, but I just did the stuff did the day before dr came out. I wasn't grinding then and I not grinding now.
Grinding for dilithium. Ok that is a grind. But to get to 60? Why grind it. It will come.
Heh, the Galaxy defines butt ugly...a big ol' fat 'n ugly butt smooshed on the sofa.
I actually like the look of the Varanus. I just hate that it's a subpar DSSV.
I like it too. It's even better when shooting torpedoes from it. Unlike most ships, it has 2 forward torpedo hard points; one on each side. Torpedo spread looks freaking awesome coming out of that thing.
I would definitely buy a t6 varanus with the same skin and the dauntless trait (I think it would fit) and maybe some command hybrid station. There's also all of the other gorn science vessels they could use for the skin.

Yeah, the way TS is handled on some of the KDF boats is kind of nifty - the way it comes out from the sides.
When he was talking about the "reskin" stuff...I was kind of left to wonder...T6 Draguas with a hangar with Naga and Vishap pets. But again, gets into those folks that don't want a Gorn ship. So the thought was a T6 Dacoit repurposed in that fashion. But the folks that don't want an Orion ship. A repurposed T6 K'tanco...but folks actually want that as a Battlecruiser.
And the fighting goes on and on...lol...it's like the speech Alexander gives on Rura Penthe, how can we hope to win if we're always fighting each other...lol. Think Cryptic did a good job there of making sure the KDF were divided.
Incoming Sarcasm! Avoid this post if you take things far too seriously!
--Extremely low demand for KDF science ships. Most likely just a reskin with existing consoles/trait, if at all.
It would be interesting to see the ratios on sales for the recent science ships..
like the Scryer, how did the KDF science ship and the RR science ship that came out the same time do?
Or the Dauntless, doing a far future looking KDF and RR ships could be a bit hit or miss looks wise I know, but I don't remember any complaint threads on those...
Or the Pathfinder! There was a bundle offer with that one wasn't there? So obviously this was a case of the "reskin with existing console/trait" for the KDF and RR versions in the bundle, right?
Ending Sarcasm.
No really, the KDF has the Varanus, which is a weaker DSSV, one of the least liked Fed science ships. Or the Dyson family of mostly broken hybrid science ships, which as far as I can tell are not very popular Fed side either. This led my KDF science attempts to fly either Vo'Quvs (at least it can take a hit) or B'rels (Not quite a Nova sure, but the cloak makes it interesting). Though I have not tried a Varanus post secondary deflector addition.
I don't know anyone will make a transcript written in stone, so you will have to keep not believing any of it.
Any transcript will most likely lose some of the details of the stuff that was said (if it's just intonation), and so will always be flawed compared to the recording.
then i wont believe it until there is solid proof one way or the other.
im not a auditory learner type of person, i never have been, always do better understanding things from visual or written. when someone drones on and on, i end up tuning it out and my eyes gloss over when it hits its repetition, usually within 3-5 minutes.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
also forgot to add that if its not written down anywhere, then its a simple matter of sweeping what was stated under the carpet and the podcast as if it never happened, on the other hand if its written down then they got to follow it, in that case that is proof enough. and then you can pick out the important parts going forward and the rest of the podcast can be discarded as spam.

They no more have to follow something they've written than they do something they've said...they've swept many a thing written under the rug.
If people are desperate for a KDF Science Vessel, why not take the one there is?
This is just my personal take, but because "the one there is" is worse then trying to science out of a non-science ship. I mentioned a bit up thread that I have not messed with them post secondary defector addition, but my experience with non-science vessel science:
B'rel as a alternative to the Fed Nova. Only 3 science console slots on the BoP vs 4 on the Varanus, but I get a fun science while cloaked cloak.
Vo'QuV, low turn rate makes it harder to use science skills that work only out the front arc, but it has the same 4 science consoles, and has two hanger bays.
Kamarag is a more tanky heal-boat option, You lose the commander science slot, but still have room for up to 5 science skills.
On a more constructive note, personally I would love to see at T6 a tougher continuation to the Gorn line of science ships, think more Advanced Research Vessel clone then nerfed DSSV clone. as well as a Klingon looking, slightly higher turn rate Ta'Sub without the gimmicky destroyer half (but keep the cloak!)
The possibility of removing Gorn Minefield, Big Dig, Breaking the Planet, etc really makes me mad. Big Dig and Breaking the Planet are among my favorite queues. I understand the idea that some things are relatively unplayed. But there are ways to fix that which don't involve deleting queue choices. You could have a rotating daily event that does one of the following things.
- a lot of extra dilithium (not 240 or some other ridiculously small amount)
- extra epic crafting mat
And if that's not enough, add a weekly mission that requires you to do the daily for 7 straight days and rewards a free lockbox key.
Of course, I suspect they'd do this in a way that I would absolutely hate. Instead of the daily event being random (or rotating through ALL of them), they'd pick and choose which ones to make the daily. And it would be the same ones over and over again. And they'd probably make them the same for a week or more at a time.
Borg playable faction...ok, I guess. I can see a reasonable possibility of playing a Liberated Borg from the Delta Quadrant storyline, but I can't see any way to make an Assimilated Borg faction that makes any sense at all.
Playable Dominion. Yes please. I'd love a Cardassian/Dominion or pure Dominion faction. Although, I don't much like the idea of the Cardassians being anything other than villains. This is probably the number one faction I always wanted to see added. Certainly, more than the Romulans.
Redo the Cardassian arc. It's about time. That entire arc is bad.
Redo the Breen arc. Why? I always felt like it was the best arc in the game. The personality of the Breen really stood out. The missions were diverse. The arc was short. Every mission actually had a reward worth acquiring (which no other arc can claim). Sure, not everyone wants to use the Breen set, but it's a whole lot better than RANDOM WEAPON A or RANDOM SHIELD B.
I want to be positive, but so many things stood out as just plain dumb. Quite honestly, they'd be better off with this concept...do less dumb stuff, even if that means doing less stuff. For instance, Q's Winter Wonderland. I loved the gingerbread event. It's not terribly exciting or rewarding, but they didn't TRIBBLE it up. On the other hand, the snowman event didn't work properly for several days. And that's all anyone remembers about it. It didn't work. People lack patience, especially online. When you put something out before it's ready and it doesn't work even close to properly, you should absolutely expect people to be in a frenzy of anger. Especially when you make a habit of it. And they have most definitely made a habit of it.
Wow. I am in my mid forties and can honestly say that article describes every single game.
They list out a few instances where a few some games have certain non grinds stuff but...every game I have played outside of arcade games, I guess, is grind.
It must work.
Why does the OP say only 3 new missions when Gecko quite clearly says 5, which obviously didn't include the 2 already released, as the season had already dropped before the podcast was made?
--Extremely low demand for KDF science ships. Most likely just a reskin with existing consoles/trait, if at all.
What? How can he say that KDF has very low demand on science ships??
In podcast he said that every time they made sci ship for KDF it sells in dosens only.
Sooo he is thinking of sort of lame Varanus or Varanus or Varanus? Or maybe Varanus?!

And "normalise" doffing = XP NERF anyone. .
Playable borg ships. . . Er ok then. .
Just when they get things right they then pull this Oh yay. . . . If it's fun remove or Nerf it. .:mad:

Yep, going to need to buy those ultra rare and epic cards to get the good stuff from chains...chains where you're going to build a barn.
Can see it now...Star Trek Online Expansion III: Magic Farm - A Village Gathering!
maybe they will do for DOFFing what they did for crafting and queues

Erm NO! lol
XP Nerf is more likely so you have to doff more and more to get the XP you get now lol
Of course they will ... we're talking about Geko ... Doffing will be fine & everything is awesome ...

Oy, gecko, the reason we do not play that stuff its because:
Its too long, usually badly designed, boring and more importantly not worth the time.
So stuff that idea where the sun doesn't shine thx.
oh btw:
What... the... how can you not remember the bloody skill tree.
I'm betting...
Infected

will be going bye bye since these are the only ones that pop.

3 are "in a can".
or STF revamp.
or... what about a ESD revamp?
Character screen revamp would be cool too.
Any1?
The ability to test dance emotes during the character creation process would be invaluable when selecting a species.
Not to mention the conspicuously absent 'picking nose' idle animation.
How about fixing the old one first ...
