    thanks

you make a shortcut on your deskop to the actual STO executable : if it's installed in Steam , you can find that executable here :

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Trek Online

right click and check "run as administrator " , right click again and "make shortcut on desktop" ,apply and you're done

How long does it take the Cryptic Error Report to run. It is taking forever. Have not been able to log into game at all. Gets to Cryptic Launcher and crashes.

so after trying every suggestion posted, AND after reinstalling the os to factory condition and reloading everything from scratch ...

same exact fatal error at the same exact time

even tried redoing the safe mode thing again to reset the game to directx9 but couldnt get there bc ...

same exact fatal error at the same exact time

so i guess thats it. either they fix it from their end or i guess me and sto just aint meant to be

I did all of that several times and late LATE last night got into the game. Tried again this morning, no problems. Went to class, came home tried...BAM. Same crash after character is loaded.

I'm not going through all of that again. I'll try and check back to see if anyone has a solution, but in the mean time I'm going to play SWTOR. At least I can log into that game.

    ah ok didnt know that

btw, somebody said only outfits are stored on my local hard drive. where exactly? and can outfits be transferred from one character to another, perhaps by changing a filename or something (im just guessing)? id like to try to recreate a character with the same exact outfit

I never remember where they are exactly but poke around in the game folder they have really obvious file names and are pictures of your character's face.

You transfer from one character to another inside the game at a tailor.

Jusgo to the tailor on the character with the correct outfit. Save it. Then log into the second character and go to a tailor. Now pick "load outfit". If the race and sex are different you might have to click the box for " only outfit" by default loading changes everything, including body and face sliders. This is off tic to the thread, if you need more help make a post in the academy sub forum and we'll help you there.

You're making up things. Read my posts back. I made a suggestion, Trendy responded to it, I responded back, and it was in general.

Now I wish I had a facepalm icon to link. *sigh*

No. I am not making things up.

Examples of the posts saying to stop development and thereby assign the wrong people to qa: (note all these are from this thread), and there's a lot more earlier too.
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23429121&postcount=277

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23424491&postcount=272

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23430211&postcount=282

Then trendy told them about the difference in jobs (also in this thread)
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23453261&postcount=293

Then you joined in here rehashing what she already responded to:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23529081&postcount=417

She gave you the same answer as the others:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23529271&postcount=420

You brought it up a third time:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23530101&postcount=436

Illacadia commented on trendy having to post the same answer three times in the same thread:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23531691&postcount=451

Min hadn't seen trendys posts and thought illacadia was in the wrong thread:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23531741&postcount=452

I pointed out illacadia was in the correct thread:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23532071&postcount=456

And you accuse me of lying and not reading the thread:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=23535821&postcount=470

No I wasn't making things up. Next time, please read the thread before accusing others of not doing so. Trendy had already answered your question, if you had followed your own advice you would have seen it. You had an opportunity for instant gratification: you could have gotten your answer before asking the question.

Granted, we're at 49 pages I don't blame you for not reading. But you can give people the benefit of the doubt. Some of us are insane and will actually read all of it ~.^

So, to everyone else, sorry for the segue, back on topic now. ^.^

So, um...yeah. So this is still a thing? I haven't played for about three weeks due to login problems. I figured, "i'll give it a few weeks, they'll figure it out." How...embarrassing.

I guess it's time to permanently uninstall STO. I mean, I hardly have the time to play anymore and when I do I can't login. So what's the point?

    I'm sure Cryptic couldn't care less since I"m not a fat-cat, but it-is-what-it-is.

I've invested a lot of money in this game and would probably spend more, but now thinking about uninstalling and just forgetting about it. This issue has reached rediculous proportions. I play several other MMO's and NEVER have i had this many issues with any of them. I guess i'll give it a few more days and see what happens. I'll go play SWTOR, at least that works.

Whatever "material files reloaded" means, they need to cut it out and get their act together. I don't know what they did to bring this game to being absolutely unplayable more than 1/2 the time, but they need to cut it out. check those "material files" for bugs, bad code, or even viruses and get their act together before those who get fed up with not being able to log in stop trying permanently

it is annoying , also because there's simply no ETA ( whatsoever ) on when these issues might be fixed . I'd almost wish this whole Iconian war update had never happened ( it's not that special anyway ) .

CTD's are still the order of the day - and there's no way of knowing when you'll have the client crash on you . You just know it will . The fact the bug submission application also crashes immediately , before you can click submit , doesn't help things either .

So what broke here? some one code out the account server? Denial of service attack by the terrorists? or are the developers happy to see us play competitor's games?

I have mobile broadband becuase no one offers high speed internet where i live. so i get 6 gig/month data usage like a cell phone and it costs 55 for that month. so i can either get a 500mb-1gig update and 20 days of play or i can get all 6 gigs in updates and no play but can't even do that if i can't login.

If you hate the IP/Game then just close the servers/shards/shard and walk away. If you truly love it as you say then fix it. and keep it fixed if it needs a maintenance at 2:ooam PST/PDT every night then make it happen, this is where using multiple servers works for other games, load is kept down a little bit and allows for a character on each so one server is down you can still play.

also with localish servers i.e. North america and so on. then you can localize the down time and if the first server is broke by the patch you can skip it on the others.

But now we have a game that needs to start in windowed mode to get past the D3D error, and now it won't connect to the account server.

Currently verifying files after the Display Software crashed during the Iconian War loading screen.... I'll try logging in again in about 2mins when it's finished.

EDIT: My trace of the patch server timed out twice, but I got an average of about 100ms over 14 runs

I no longer bother with the verify ( let alone force verify ) because I have come to the conclusion that feature is BS for this particular issue .

Yeah, I think it's only any good if there's actually something wrong with the software in the launcher on our end :/ But, I might as well run it

It's been 5 days and no response in email, and no ETA when its going to be fixed. That is true madness. I was looking forward for the new content. I hope that they get it fix soon.

As my account is within it's introductory month subscribed phase & experiencing this situation with constant disconnects & the rubber-banding issues galore I will not be resubscribing so far.

It's bad enough with all the log-in issues of: disconnects, & "server not responding" lasting longer than any uninterrupted gameplay then timing-out to only hope I can log back in all while I'm trying to level-up my characters so I can take advantage of the subscribed perks.

Regardless of any bonus/discount regarding Zen there's no way I'll purchase & invest hard-earned money into a game because that only helps if the game can be played.

I'm sure it's just bad timing with my subscription & I can understand glitches with the introduction of new content, but this is nothing new for gaming neither. All was operating fine before this Season 10, & now I wont be able to level-up my characters sufficiently during my subscription, & I'll definitely let my subscription lapse without renewing with these conditions, since now the game barely functions.

You're not the only one. I can only get to the loading screen before it crashes on me. I hate that.

When I try to open the game, it tries to update the cryptic launcher and after trying for 23 times, it stops and a warning pops up, that says "Unable to establish connection to Patch server. Please check your Internet connection. If the problem persist, please contact Technical Support."
That is as far as I can get.
