Look I don't care a wit about this new "Delta Recruit" which honestly sounds like Chris Pine's latest action thriller "Shadow Recruit" but hey coincidence this being a Star Trek game. Either way I will not partake in this new way for new players to get into the Admiral business before the War comes for the foreseeable next Seasons. I love my Romulan character I modeled after me and his crew so for that reason as the guys on Shark Tank would say, "I am out" however if this generates more revenue for more expanded Iconian battles and future seasons after we destroy them then hey the more the merrier I guess to keep the hamsters spinning in the servers and PWE happy.
However in spite of all of this I hope your main goal over at Cryptic is for the progression and the development of new story content for our main toons and not these new ones. That's is what Star Trek is truly all about and why the books and other content besides the Series are selling like gangbusters. People love a good story and new adventures, not the shiny new ship in the docking bay at ESD or the Qonos shipyards.
I can't wait for you guys to open up the new sphere however, if this helps you do it then, I wish you good luck.
Because not many vets have that faith in this game as I do with the Star Trek brand name.

wile this might sound good for some players that have time and room to make a new alt, it's not really so good for every one else.
doing winter / summer / mirror / crystalline and anniversary events become too much of a grind because people don't like to pass out on an alt (sometimes they actually pass out the reward on all alts)
the winter and summer event is kinda covered with the account discount (1000 tokens 1rst alt and 40 on other alts)
but it would be good to get a discount for Crystalline / Mirror Events where you get an additional project to claim the special prise reward on other alts.
that would allow people to unlock those nice rewards on other alts, especially when you're inducing people to create more alts.
other issue is the 5 / 10 minutes cool down ... something that you can only use after a long cool down, tens to make people trying to save it until too late or not necessary, like it used to happen with universal consoles, then you realised it would be better to lower the cool down from 5 to 2 minutes.
i really don't ask or demand much, bug fixing and client stability would make many people happier.
I plan on making three characters during the event and am going to try to get each to 50 as quickly as possible.
That said, it would be nice to make sure it's clarified that once you're out of the tutorial that you don't need the event to actually level those guys up for the character specific rewards. It'd be nice to be able to do one or two at my leisure after focusing on one or two during the event.
Awesome rewards! Looking forward to it as I'm still a pretty noobish player who doesn't even have a single 60 yet due to having a lot of RL time constraints and only off and on playing the game.
This Delta Recruit is still TRIBBLE since my 3 main characters have been through more hell and back than the new character they want me to create. I'd rather have the option of allowing us to use our current main character instead of being horse fed into making yet another alt that will get put to pasture after the event is over.
And the gap between Vet players and new players is there for a reason. Veteran players EARNED or bought EVERYTHING they got. New players need to learn that they have to EARN or buy the same things. Instead they are getting spoon fed the game.
What's next? New player creates an account, and pays $50 for an automatic veteran button? Might as well tell your veteran players that they don't matter anymore.
Multi-choice mark rewards from the Delta Recruit system do not, and will not ever, include Iconian Resistance Marks.
LEAK LEAK, we now know the official name of the new reputation!! Iconian Resistance ... hmm ... sounds like the early stages of the war are going to go very badly for us
Can we also have it so we can make current items in our old characters account wide too. I would love to be able to transfer ships, space/ground gear across to this new character.
Considering I have spent a lot of money on my current character, i cant see any justification yet as to make a new one.
LEAK LEAK, we now know the official name of the new reputation!! Iconian Resistance ... hmm ... sounds like the early stages of the war are going to go very badly for us

Oh yeah, we'll just stack that Dilithium Ore with the thousands and millions of Ore we already have that wont be finished refining until Christmas 2016.

well, that is another example of demagogy, they claim to try to bridge the gap betwin old and new players, however, they nerfed the xp reward in several ways because it didn't meet they're goals.
This really looks interesting. I had planned on participating anyway, but this is the icing on the cake, so to speak.
That being said, the perks for each character - new and old - is very excellent. For me, having a current total of 15 characters with a future of getting one free character and purchasing two others - via grinding - the Dilithium payout alone by way of marks will be very impressive. And then earning the Dilithium for each story arc completed is again an impressive perk.
As far as being on level 50 with MK X gear, Delta Recruits will be space rich by way of 500,000 EC per episode arc completed. Getting the MK XI or MK XII gear will be limited only by the player's ability to get said gear from crafting. In about 3 days, you could have 1 R&D school up to level 10 and then it won't be a long haul to level 15 or 20 for that school. And seeing how that some of the crafted gear can fetch a ridiculously high amount of EC on the Exchange for those with more EC than either desire to craft their own or simply not enough time on their hands to craft their own.
The R&D packs are nice and will be numerous for those who have a lot of characters.
The amount of Fleet marks, however, can be rewarding for small fleets, but an annoyance to large fleets with maxed-out holdings. I'm sitting on over 7500 marks just waiting for an opportunity to use them all. I do see a way players can abuse the Fleet Mark:Fleet Credit conversion: By way of a team of players starting a bogus fleet just to get the most of the Fleet Credits from the Fleet Marks.
On the topic of Fleet Mark Rewards: Will Fleet Mark Bonus Pools be able to be used for the Fleet Mark Rewards during the Delta Recruit Event? If so, how do you speculate the market for Fleet Mark Bonus Pools to go based on player greed vs player want/need/desire?
Also, as a way to increase player involvement for this event, will there be a special deal on buying character slots for those who would like more that one Delta Recruit (i.e.; 4 character slots for the price of 2)?
All in all, I look foreward to the Delta Recruitment Event. I leave with a final question: Will the success or failure of this event pave the way for future events of a similar nature?
LEAK LEAK, we now know the official name of the new reputation!! Iconian Resistance ... hmm ... sounds like the early stages of the war are going to go very badly for us
I have eight L50+ characters.
(one of each Captain specialization and Faction, save Romulan Engineer)
I'm leveling a Romulan Engineer for this event.
But I would love it if I had the option to 'start over' with some of my older characters.
My Klingon and Federation Captains were made long ago - long before Delta Rising or even Legacy of Romulus. My Klingon captains are so old that they STARTED at L30 or so because there was no starter content for the KDF. None of my Fed or KDF characters have enjoyed the new tutorials or leveling experience. At the same time, they have things that would be lost to a re-roll, like upgraded Duty Officer rosters, Anniversary ships, Event Items... things that I'd hate to lose.
If I could push a button and start over with some of my Captains, that would be amazing.
Let me re-level my character. My ships, items, reputation, traits could all be locked out until L50, when I could re-claim them all. Then I could enjoy the Delta Recruit Event on all three factions without creating duplicate professions or characters.
I know it'll never happen... but I can sure dream.

I am so much with you on this... it'd be even amazing to be able to play our character, BUT, with another faction. So, take your Fed & play this character through KDF storyline, for example. I'd love to be able to do that; even if they allowed me to create the same character under different faction (species, appearance)...

Functionally this is well done and nicely thought out. No time limits on gaining the rewards was unexpected and a nice touch.
The rewards themselves...
Maybe I'm missing something. But I just completed the CE event on four alts and ended up with a lot more (especially for my Fleet Projects) in much less time than leveling a new character to 50 will take. Plus there's no Account Wide XP bonus to make up lost time earning Spec Points.
The traits and devices are nice, but not required and I doubt I'd slot the Starship Trait at all.
I just don't see this paying for the time lost not playing my main.
Yeah, it is. Unlock the rewards as your Delta Recruit which you can claim on any other character, even ones made after the event.
I'm afraid I'm having a hard time seeing how that's unclear.
The last answer in the Q&A at the bottom of the blog:
Q: What happens if I create a Delta Recruit, but do not complete all of the listed Tasks?
A: Once a Delta Recruit completes their special Tutorial and receives their Tesseract Communications Device they will be free to complete the assigned tasks at any point in the future. Although Delta Recruit characters can only be created while the event is running, there is no time limit on the completion of the tasks, or their associated rewards.
This implies that we can create a Delta Recruit and work our way towards all of the rewards at our leisure, even being able to earn them after the event ends. What you're saying is that we can't earn the rewards after the event ends and that we'll only be able to continue claiming the rewards once per character after the event ends. So yes, the dev blog doesn't clarify that we can only earn the rewards during the event. In fact it implies quite the opposite.
Edit: That could be referring only to the rewards Delta Recruits get while leveling up. Create a new character during the event and the special gear they get while leveling can be obtained any time, even after the event is over. Again the blog doesn't clarify this in the Q&A and makes it sound as though *all* rewards (including the special account unlocks) can be earned after the event is over. That's probably where some of us are getting confused.
You know everyone and their mother will be playing starting Thursday due to this event. It's probably asking too much but maybe, just maybe there won't be tons of lag and rubberbanding? Do you think you might possibly upgrade the 486sx box you are running the server on?

One of my Recruits is going to be a reroll of my original main (who I haven't used as a main since Legacy of Romulus), but with a twist - my original main (who I'm keeping) is a native of the timeline that existed pre-Delta Recruit (since time travel creates a new timeline when it happens), while the Recruit is the version of her native to the new timeline.

It's awesome.
yeah its just a shame you cant two toons with the same name on the same account.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.
I do have 1 question about all of this. Will we be getting an xp nerf for levels 1-50 when this goes live that we are not told about yet?
Leader of Elite Guardian Academy.Would you like to learn how to run a fleet? Would you like to know how to do ship builds (true budget as well as high end)? The join the Academy today!

That & the fact I can't re-roll a Liberated Borg Human on KDF side... making it as if playing my original character on KDF... it'd really make a heaps of difference for me personally, to be able to do that, in terms of re-rolling another character.

Roll a Klingon! Help get the Empire some attention!
Sorry, but doing that makes absolutely no difference in people's decision-making. Not everyone wants to play KDF (or Romulan for that matter)... Personally, I am going to have two characters KDF aligned (only to balance the amount of Characters between the Fed and KDF (with the Romulans included in both sides). My decision to make the KDF characters wasn't to boost KDF numbers or have any other ulterior motive like that. No one should advocate for such things since it doesn't matter in any way whatsoever.
I am very curious about the story they have woven into the Delta Recruitment campaign. I love time travel elements and I'm looking forward to playing a new character.

The uni consoles were 3 --> 2 minutes, 5 minutes was for reputation t5 powers after they limited people to a subset of 4 at any given time. 5 minutes, to me, seems reasonable for the device, which shouldn't probably go lower than 3/4 mins to bring it in line with batteries (5 is tolerable due to the usefulness of the effect and the fact that it's a device rather than a console). 10 mins on the team rez and heal could go down to 5, like the Omega Rep power, but given that it's usable while dead and has no stated range limit means that it would be a superior option, displacing the rep power.

Depends on your free time. However, all you have to do during the event is the tutorial, and it's definitely enough time for that.
All that goes away when it ends are the ability to make more recruits and the bonus dilithium for kills.

most all of us don't want/need another toon. If it wasn't for the account wide buff, 99% wouldn't bother with this at all.
How about you just let us BUY the account rewards and save us the tedium of being forced to replay old content yet again.
It isn't a leak, its on tribble.
