I did quite a bit of Argala while the getting was good, but I realized almost from the start that it seemed too good to be true, so I was expecting a reduction. The same goes for when I first heard about (I never used it myself though) the "plasma doping". When something seems tood good to be true, it probably is.
For some, it seemed too good to be true. However, for others it seemed like the only way to level characters at a decent way. Just like Japori. For some it seemed like it was too good to be true. However, it was giving the same xp it was giving before DR, and the developers knew about it before it even hit holodeck.
So, for many it didn't seem like it was too good to be true, it appeared as if it was working as normal. Which it was. But the ones in charge didn't want it to stay like that.
If you always have to second guess things in the game, and play with the expectation that any one thing that gives more than something else is going to be nerfed, then where is the fun? Until recently, there was no indication that they wanted all content to reward evenly. In fact, the developers didn't even want that. This was something new. Before then, one bit of content would reward more than another.
See, since the developers don't let others know what they expect of them till they are changing something, it is all about perspective. If you see something that gives decent rewards, while other content is not, you see it as something you expect will be nerfed. Whereas, someone else might see it as "finally, something to help with this ridiculous grind."
So, unless the developers make a statement that says that no content now, or in the future will ever give more than a certain amount of any specific rewards, then there is always going to be that line where some see it as the developers have finally listened to them, and gave them something that is useful, and then others that see it as too much rewards, and expect it to be nerfed.
Leader of Elite Guardian Academy.Would you like to learn how to run a fleet? Would you like to know how to do ship builds (true budget as well as high end)? The join the Academy today!
Yeah I don't think most people realize or see specializations as something that's meant to be long term.
Probably depends on your definition of "long term" & your "play-style" ...
If you're having just a few Toons and enjoy doing Patrols etc -> "long term" is probably right
If you enjoy playing lots of Alts and can't stand doing the same thing over & over -> "unachieveable within in your Lifetime" is probably more accurate ...
Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.
to be honest i take anything that tacofangs says with a grain of salt , unless its something Art Related or a inept discussion on Benches on ESD . he is a environmental artist , nothing to do with game systems and such . while he may be privy to inside information on the games systems and development of systems , hes not a code engineer and i wouldn't ask him anything on that subject .
thats said , i have misgivings on the Delta recruitment event , i really dont need another character hell i barely have time to devolop the characters i DO have . ive spend countless hrs grinding out ships to use on my extra toons. now just to do all over for this toon if i want benefits from this event ?
if it was a new sub faction i would be more excited to grind thru another toon . granted every time there is a change to the factions character origins story i create a new toon play thru that and delete them just to play the story , but to actually grind out the REP ,SPEC,and other things on a new TOON , just so i get credit for the Recruitment bonuses ? Meh .

They set the rewards and then discovered that it was over rewarding for what they were going for, so they reduced it. This attitude of calling everything under the sun a "nerf" is nothing but toxic, IMO.
If you "can't stand doing the same thing over and over", then why are you playing an MMO? That's how they function.
Technically everything is "doing the same thing over & over" ... every FPS is kind of the same, every RPG is kind of the same, even "breathing" & "living" is ... you're just quoting a fortune cookie ... the key-word is variety (like playing with lots of Alts i.E.)...

Dear Dev: Although I am mad about the bloody bugs everywhere, I DO look forward to the event.
I can't wait for April 2.
Bugs will happen with any coding project, and they can be very difficult and time consuming to track down the cause and even more so to fix. Just because the bugs you see haven't been, doesn't mean they aren't trying. It just means they haven't tracked them down and/or figured out exactly what to do to fix it.
If you think you can do better, apply for a job with the company and try.
IMHO, if STO wasn't just a shameless cash grab, grindfest, of "repeatable content", and it's proprietors actually cared about putting their stamp on a quality product, this community wouldn't be the train-wreck that it is. The game has been patch-porked for how long now? And still no official "Don't worry it's not you, it's us, we did it again." message. Oh, that's right, I forgot, they fired their community manager, so they could get a bigger bonus, at years end. As for them having to work long hours for short money, is that the player's fault? Maybe they should look at another vocation if that's a problem for them. This isn't a slave ship.
If the claims of "cash grab" were true then there would be no way to acquire Zen without paying real money. There is, so the "cash grab" claims are entirely without merit and simple whining.
Thank you for all the kind words everyone! Sadly, as it looks like this is starting to turn south with potential flaming, I'm just going to close this thread down.
(Don't worry, you made Tacofangs smile though. I saw his fangs. It was weird.)

But before making new content, PLEASE fix the old ones?
All of them.
PLEASE?
This would please many people, especially me.
I have 300 euro ready for when that happens, going lifetime then. :P
