I love explore all new thins in this game.
Think here we have a lot of people who want another kind of game.
See so much people say "NO, because...".

And i think: Ok, all right..., but we got this awesome game.

Play it and enjoy, or leave the game, or do whatever you want, but stop say no to all new thins.

The problem is "i already pay and want new exclusive items"?
If that was the case, just ask what you want, give ideas, be helpfull.

Please, get an Advisor and a Diplomatic Bridge Officers, and if u have extra Fleet Credits look for a Counselor.

No one is saying "no" to the new additions. Most seem pretty excited by the new features.

What people are saying "no" about is the fact that (so far) it seems these features will only work on a select few ships, that have not yet been announced, and will cost $30 each.

What Cryptic are doing is saying "Either pay for new ships or you don't get the new features", which means all the people who have already spent money on new T6 ships or upgrades from T5 ships just wasted their money.

No one is upset about new features, but about new costs.

    Hi Cryptic/PWE,

If you really want to make more money and maybe make your playerbase a little less grumpy about it at the same time, please try the following:

    1. Give T5U ships a specific hybrid specialist slot that largely fits with the role of the ship. For each existing specialization, pick a range of existing ships and change one of their boff slots. Keep a pool of T5U ships without slots that will get them as future specializations are released. This will overvalue some T5U ships over others in the short run, but will balance out once you've released all your planned specializations.

    2. Give all T6 ships universal specialist slots. Expecting your playerbase to plunk down an additional $30 to take advantage of each new specialization released is ridiculous.

Please re-think your planning on this.

    Thanks.

No, no. That's not how it is supposed to be. It's not buy either/or, it is clearly and. You are supposed to upgrade your ships, then realize that they aren't special and then you are supposed to buy the spec ship of the month. ;):D

If you'll notice, I'm specifically talking about people who do pay.

People who bought T6 ships won't be able to use them.
People who bought T5 upgrades won't be able to use them.
People who bought lifetime subscriptions still have to cough up $30 each time they add new features.
These new features only work with new ships.

So people who have already paid get no benefit, and feel rightly upset about it.

In addition, there are dozens of c-store ships that will not be able to use these new features, so wha t use is it to buy those either?

This is not a problem with there being any cost at all, this is a problem with Cryptic not giving past customers a leg up--say, a $5 purchase to add these hybrid seats to an existing ship. The problem is they're demonstrating that to pay for a ship is to see it useless in a few months--that's not much incentive to spend money.

If folks buy a $30 ship every other month...do they qualify for Vet rewards since they're paying the equivalent of the $15 sub?

Milk milk milk.... gone are the days of quality content, now its all about trying to milk players as much as they possibly can.
Seriously, we just got a brand new Tier of ships a few months ago, and already they are trying to shoehorn people into an entirely new breed of ships.

And the treatment of subscribers is quite frankly disgusting and abhorrent.
$15 a month, full a standard full price subscription fee, and theres pretty much no real benefit of being a subscriber anymore once you have leveled up.

    Digging your own grave Cryptic.

Yay. More ways to kill, kill, kill. How imaginative. Tell you what would be more imaginative, if you actually attempted - just ATTEMPTED - to create some content that doesn't depend on the deaths of thousands of enemy crewmen to obtain items. Exploration. Discovery. Intrepidity. Any chance? I mean, this is Star Trek. Ever seen it? It's about going boldly where no man has gone before, fighting ONLY when necessary, only when no other option remains.

EXPLORATION! The final frontier. This game could be so much more but it's just kill, kill, kill, puzzle, kill, kill, kill, die, kill, kill, kill. It's bullshiz.

Well, I dropped sub when they overhauled crafting, and only came back for the Winter ship, only to find out that every ship I've ever had/bought is now sub-par, and now they want to limit my options even more?

It's not good business if no one is buying, and participation numbers are tanking across the board. I'm certainly suffering no desire to re-sub or buy a ship or anything else for that matter. I fail to see how it's a "good decision". I might have bought ship ugrades if it allowed them to actually be upgraded, but that's kind of useless now.

Now, a $5 upgrade that lets me add a hybrid position, THAT would be good--a relatively minor charge people are more likely to buy, and buy multiples of. But what incentive is there to buy any of the other ships now, that don't have this capability?

They devalue every ship purchase ever made, as well as render smaller purchases useless, meaning there's only one thing worth buying, but everyone's feeling taken advantage of so fewer buy it... this is not good business.

Could not agree more with this sentiment. Why would I drop money on any ship, just to find it's obsolete in months to a year? It makes me furious when I consider how much I paid for & now how pitiful my Bortasqu & Odyssey ships are.

Do we/can we get any sort of official statement about whether to take advantage of these new BOFF space abilities that we will have to spend money to buy a new ship or some kind of upgrade token?

Well, they aren't getting my money for some time now, more than a year. But they did :

    -Lifetime sub
    -Legacy of Romulus pack
    -Vesta pack
    -Odyssey pack
    -Kumari pack
    -Armitage
    -Sovereign
-Defiant (both Sao paolo and tac escort)
    -Nebula class
    -Ar'kala
    -Ar'kif
    -Vandal destroyer
    -Tac scimitar.

Many upgrades to t5u, many modules for fleet ships. Got DR pack with zen i grinded, and all that money and time worth NOTHING.Not a good business idea if you ask me, many of us don't want to spend a penny anymore.
AND MORE STUPID GRIND FOR SPEC POINTS, and me (and most of the players) still haven't finished one toon.
    Thank You ROBBERATIC, thank YOU.

The new bridge officer specializations are greatly anticipated. If the overall goal of the devs is to make it more fun for the players, then what they should do is create a whole new specialization seat position on all ships they are giving the new specs to. If they create a new specialization seat then that would be much better and far more enjoyable. If they make it where the players have to choose command or intelligence abilities for it that would be fine. But trying to squeeze more and more abilities into new seats will be extremely frustrating and unenjoyable for the players. Give the ships a separate seat for specializations and I think they will find a lot of positive feedback on the game.

The new command stuff all looks great, and is really exciting BUT I agree with the consensous here.

If the devs create even 2 specs a year, and they each need their own ship and each ship costs $30, then the new features are coming out at a cost of $60/year - minimum. Or we stick to the old ships, and keep playing the same old game. That goes against the whole we don't charge players for updates philosophy you had until now.

There's a simple solution however, just unlock specialization abilities in the universal seats.
It's not like Captain Kirk wasn't a command officer, in-fact we're led to believe that he's pretty much only ever been a command officer. So why would we have Captains in much more capable starships dealing with much more complex issues and more hostile enemies without command or intelligence training?

No low-level ships utilize universal seats, and we're supposed to be top ranking officers flying the most advanced ships in the fleet after all. So it's logical, and it would breath new life into older ships. Suddenly you may sell more Vesta's because they could have a ltcmd intel or command slot on a beautiful and very very capable science ship.

This wouldn't mean killing hybrid seating, still create those and specialization centric ships. It just gives our ships that we buy a lasting value.

As for balance sake the game is already very unbalanced, and non-organized, non-restricted PvP isn't really realistic as it is. So yes it would suck seeing scimis use OSS but for most of us I think it would suck more being forced to spend money to keep playing an updated game. Besides think of all those ens unis that would suddenly become useful!

Agree with above. ANY C-store ship that's been purchased needs retroactive additions of these hybrid seats--basically anything that can be upgraded to T5U.

Alternately a CHEAP way to add these seats to existing ships would let us use a much wider variety of ships day-to-day, leading to more sales and happier customers all around. Locking them into specific ships is stupid, counter-productive, and gonna upset people.

You could at least fix pvp before you start doubling down on the bad ideas and unnecessary grind.

Maybe 6 months of dwindling membership and mounting grievances will get the devs fixing the game and adding content again.

See you around the dance floor on Risa, hopefully the bait-ship will be nice.

I'm going to hold out on this till there is some idea as to officially what the ships or the way these new abilities will be instituted. If the powers are to be part of new ships or old ships re-vamped I may buy them depending on the ship. Can a dev please give either some more info or an idea as to when more info will come out on this?

Like I said before... they're neat abilities and all, but I haven't even gotten a character to the point of being able to train Intel III skills, so I certainly don't need Command yet. The rate of progression precludes the need to invest in new toys like the (obviously inbound) Command ships, at least for me, which means that even if you balance the Command offerings among the factions it's still a no-sale for now. When you get around to faction-specific 3-packs for the Intel Specialization you might get me interested, but for now I just don't see the point. Maybe if the non-Specialization ships got true Hybrid seating, or if Universal seating actually was... you know... Universal....

To make the new shinies shiny you've got to make them available for use. They aren't, so no Captain, everything's not shiny.

So command abilities will only be usable on command ships eh? Sounds logical, but it lessens the value of ALL T6 ships to me.

So I can buy an Intel ship that can use one subset of space abilities, 2 of which are really cool. I can also buy a command ship, that can use a different subset of abilities, 2 of which sound okay, but only if they have a 30 second/15 second global cool down.

Why would I EVER by a T6 now knowing that it will not be able to slot all of the abilities that I can give my BOFFs?

Boff Training - ... We will also no longer be supporting players being able to directly train Boffs for free in an ability. Going forward all Boff training will be consistent and require the use of Training Manuals.

Dilithium Cost - ... You will only need to spend Dilithium for the high end abilities that must be crafted. We are evaluating the exact amount of Dilithium required to create the PADD component though and appreciate hearing feedback from the community before making a final decision.

Just one more reason why I am glad I no longer worry too much about STO.

Is there anything they not planning on monetizing? It all adds up..

This exactly. It completely justifies my decision not to purchase any T6 ships before now, and just stick to those which received a free T-5U upgrade.

I would hope that the "regular" T6 ships that have already been released will be updated to allow Command BOffs to be slotted.
Forget the possibility of PvP, for so much has become pay-to-win, never to be balanced. Forget the promise of exploration and research, for in the grim dark future of Star Trek Online there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting publishers.
