Assistance needed to track down loadout issues

crypticfrostcrypticfrost Member Posts: 1,479 Cryptic Developer
There's obviously a bunch of you still having issues with loadouts. Powers, Boffs and Doffs get changed or unslotted from the reports I'm seeing. We need your help to track this down.

We need characters that consistently experience this issue. Not "most of the time" or "sometimes", but "all of the time" or as close thereto as possible.

If you have such a character, please provide the character's name@handle, and a clear description of what exactly happens with the character, and under what circumstances this is seen.

For example: Enter the Sol System map, switch to <Ship Name>, set the loadout to <Loadout Name>, note the locations of the following power icons <list powers>, and now <action that causes the bug> and note that the previous power icons are now moved.

So, if you've got a character that consistently experiences these loadout issues, and are willing and able to take the time to provide a clear description of how to reproduce the bug with your character, please reply.

I understand this issue is extremely frustrating, and you may want to vent about it, but I'm asking everyone to please limit replies to this thread to the requested information only.

Thank you.

I've been having it happen pretty consistently on Concentus of Borg@KoshiirRa.

When I transition into a space combat map, either from sector space or a ground combat map, I lose my power set in slot A2 (which is Torpedo: High Yield I). My entire space active duty officer roster is also reset when this happens. Those are the only two things that it affects, the rest of my power tray is unaffected, as is my ground power tray and ground active duty officer roster. It does not occur when transferring out of a space combat map (to sector space), only when transferring in to it.
The opinions expressed in my posts are not necessarily those of my employer or Subspace Radio.

    Name: Geller@orangeitis

When it happens: Enter sector space or any space queue(so far)

What it does: Replaces my Red Matter Capacitor hotkey for an Auxiliary Battery. Removes my previous Auxiliary Battery hotkey as well as my Shield Battery and Quantum Singularity Manipulation(t5 Rom rep ability) hotkeys.

Note: The configuration it sets itself to I believe to be the hotkey configuration that existed prior to the DR patch.

Ship : Ar'kif Tactical Carrier Warbird Retrofit T5-U

What happens : Skills icons in trays are constantly reset when moving from sector space to space map or returning to sector space from ground map. Ship weapons remain ok, boffs are in correct stations. Ground abilities not effected.
Anything that happens, happens. Anything that in happening, causes something else to happen, causes something else to happen. Anything that in happening, causes itself to happen again, happens again.
It doesn't necessarily do it in chronological order though.

the only time this happens is if I switch ships..and it doesnt matter what ship I switch from/to.
the worst its gotten is my entire tray is empty, and yesterday it took me well over 20 minutes to troubleshoot it into submission.

for the record..it does not matter which ship I bring out, just the act of switching ships alone is sufficient cause to trigger the bug. yesterday I ended up with an entirely blank power tray.

my currently fielded ship's power tray, ship name Xanthium, fleet avenger class.
tray powers, from left(1) to right (0)
    1-BFaW-II
    2-torpedo high yield III
    3-torpedo spread II
    4-tachyon beam II
5-energy feedback conductor(aegis space set bonus power)
    6-spatial charge launcher(universal console)
    7-power to forward shields
    8-engineering team I
    9-emergency power to shields II
    0-science team 1

steps taken to troubleshoot into submission:
before following the below steps please ensure you are in sol system, any instance will do but you MUST be in the ship tactical view.
    1-reset power tray to suit
2-remove random boff(user discretion which one)
    3-save loadout
    4-beam down to starfleet academy
5-beam up to ESD(instance doesnt matter)
    6-beam up to ship
7-check tray, if fixed, congratulations you've survived a ye olde pain in the stern shields
8-if not fixed, repeat steps 1-6 until you successfully reach step 7.
thank you for considering wingnut troubleshooting guides, have a nice day and happy gaming! :D

I am not changing ships on any characters. I am setting ship gear, doffs, bridge officers and power tray power locations. After I create loadout slot and saving it there. As a result it saves everything but the power tray power locations. Only Dusty@Janetza character succeeded to get first loadout slot to work somehow.

I did have a reproducible case yesterday, but I was so annoyed that I decided to resolve the problem myself rather than wait for Cryptic to fix it. I ultimately dismissed and reclaimed my ship. See the post linked below.

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=19904701&postcount=8

One thing to keep in mind is that people are experiencing these problems even without using loadouts. I have never created a loadout on Holodeck, because I saw the problems on Tribble. My guess is that each ship has a hidden loadout by default, but I can't be sure without examining the source code. People are also reporting problems with the ground tray. Emergency Shield Capacitor and Integral Frequency Remodulator occasionally swap places when I leave a PvE queue mission.

OK, here's a new reproducible case. I managed to get my character stuck in a bugged state by buying, equipping, and unequipping weapons batteries.

    Character: Moira Tyche@frtoaster
Ship: U.S.S. Can't Quit (This ship has no saved loadouts.)
    Ability: Weapons Battery
Problem: Unslots when beaming from ground to space

To reproduce the bug, follow the steps below.

    1. Start in the Sol System.
    2. Press P to open the powers list.
    3. Scroll down until you see "Weapons Battery".
    4. Drag the weapons battery icon from the powers list into the power tray.
    5. Beam down to Starfleet Academy.
    6. Beam back up to the Sol System.
    7. Notice that the weapons battery icon is no longer in the tray. (The stack of weapons batteries is still equipped, however.)

I change a piece of ship equipment or my powers in the tray. When i change zones the new equipment is removed and back in my bank. My changes to the power tray are undone and reverted to their prior arrangement. One way to work around this is to save these new settings as a loadout. This is the only way to get them to stay. It seems to me that it keeps trying to stick to my last loaded loadout despite my changes. Then when it cant find the equipment that was previously there it leaves it blank.

EDIT: Logged in today and realized that my workaround did NOT work. The power tray reverted back to its prior configuration. Apparently nothing seems to help on this one, but at least the new equipment stayed put.

Ability; row two, ability five, hotkey Ctrl-5, deployable Plasma Torpedo Turrets device

Problem; When transitioning from space map to space map, the ability remains slotted, but when transitioning from ground map - DS9, Dyson Joint Command, ship interior and Orias III mission map ("New Link" mission) are all confirmed as doing this - to space map, the game unslots the ability from the tray. The device remains equipped to the ship, but is no longer in row 2 slot 5 or Ctrl-5 hotkey. It also does not regisiter as an alteration to the loadout as it still will say I have the loadout equipped despite the ability's removal.

Happens when i change maps or beam from ground to ship.

Have tried to fix this by saving loadouts etc but happens every time.

I don't use the loadout system and don't have any loadouts saved, but I had an issue where my active space duty officers kept getting unslotted whenever I transitioned from any ground to space, space to ground, or ground to ground map.

Which somehow resolved itself after I:
    1. Changed from the Romulan veteran ship to a cell ship at the New Romulus ship selector.
    2. Went into system space and then slotted active space duty officers.
    3. Then beamed down and switched back to the veteran destroyer.

After that I had pretty much the exact same issue with my bridge officer abilities that kept disappearing from the skill tray.

    Fixed with a similar method:
    1. Slotted bridge officer abilities while in the Sol System.
    2. Warped out into the sector block.
    3. Switched to a cell ship in sector space, and then switched back to the veteran destroyer.

I don't know if the ships or locations I used matter, but I tried to keep things constant and haven't had any issues so far transitioning from ground to space or ground to ground.

well batteries keep leaving tray after any Map transition , on QuePan@quepan

the rest of my toons have issues with not being able to load any saved loadouts the save names for teh ones i have are greyed out and never become accessible . its been this way for a while now nothing has changed . the only part of it that seems to work is the ability to select gear from the slots themselves . i would have figured that this would have been fixed and addressed for this release . its a system that has never really worked as intended .

Tested a suggestion I found in a different thread but was unable to locate that thread to reply to.
    Same issue though.

The issue seems to be directly related to the BOFF.
Changing a power in the tray then saving the loadout will not correct the issue.
Changing a BOFF assignment then saving does update the loadout.
Changing to the desired configuration with the corrected BOFF in place seems to remain after transition from ground to space.

This is just my initial findings thus far with one character.
I have encountered the equipment unslotting itself bug but that was after switching to a new ship and the issue did not persist.

Pretty much the same problem: when switching from ground to space maps, or between space zones or from space to stf, my powers tray 100% of the time resets to a configuration I used before Delta Rising. Since I no longer use the same ship nor the same combination of BOffs, that means that half of my powers are missing & the other half is in the wrong place.

    Character: Shinai@MustEatBrains
ship: Revelation; T5U Tactical Escort Retrofit

I have not created different loadouts. My BOffs remain at their stations, it´s just their powers that get mixed up/removed.

I have had consistant problems with bridge officers not loading when I select a loadout, and doffs not switching when I switch ships.

I did extensive testing on tribble a couple of months back to try and isolate a cause or find a workaround to make loadouts work for me.

I focused on Bridge officers as I noticed that the game re-orders them, some times without apparent reason. The notes I linked are quite lengthy due to the number of officers I have.

I dismissed and reacquired all my ships and officers and did not have any success resolving my loadout issues.

I found that I could save and recall a loadout without issue, until I zoned. Attempting to recall a loadout arfter zoning would always result in empty bridge officer slots.

Many have suggested that there may be a connection between the failure of loadouts to recall boffs and the implementation of inactive small craft. Although loadouts did not exist when this feature was added, this is when Bridge officer slots first started to empty themselves when zoning.

It should also be noted that loadouts have never worked reliably and were never fixed for every one. In fact I don't know a single person in game who doesn't have some sort of issue with them, most people I know refuse to use them at all because they are not reliable.

The loadout issues thread has received almost 4000 views in just the last 3 months.

On exiting each mission the tray reverted to a state without the above traits.

I will try another character tonight and report back to this thread.

    Note I:
This is 100% reproduceable for this character.. set up the trays as I described and then (for example) just go from sector space [Cardassia Sector] to the Dilithium Mine Holding, beam to the surface and from there return to sector space - the changes (red) always happen.

    Note II:
Until yesterday, I even didn't have any loadouts created or saved and just created two today to try to solve the problem.. but no matter with or without loadouts.. the bug remained the same - so (at least for me) this doesn't seem to be "Loadout" related(, only).

I have two characters that have experienced missing BOFFs or missing items in the tray. I would have to reslot his BOFFs. I don't have have any loadouts saved on him, perhaps I'll try that.

Leonid@echatty would experience missing BOFFs when transitioning to his ship from ESD or transitioning to sector space and Lilly@echatty would experience missing items in her tray. Something like half of her BOFF abilities would be missinig from the tray, but her BOFFs would be slotted. I tried saving a loadout after someone suggested it, but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

Okay, here's what just happened to Lilly.

After sorting my tray and saving it to loadout and locking the tray, she went down to ESD to do some Exchanging. When she beamed back up, her tray was messed up again.

It seems that all of her BOFF abilities are the ones disappearing and the abilities she has earned from leveling up (evasive maneuvers, brace for impact, etc.) stayed in the tray, albeit all were shuffled around in the tray.

I don't have it as bad as some, but after playing undine assault I noticed all my shield batteries were unslotted and gone from inventory. Later last night when I returned to Ganalda to dump the vendor junk I found them in the overflow bag which didn't exist prior to returning to Ganalda. After reslotting them I played 3 common dailies with no further issues.

Since the patch, the bug has returned every single time I switch from space to ground or from ground to space. It does not matter which instances I go to or come from, it always happens. I am experiencing the loss of all active SPACE duty officers. GROUND ones remain absolutely intact, always. This is the only issue I'm experiencing. The power tray is okay. I did have to respec my captain after today's maintenance though for some odd reason. Does that have a coincidence?

Thanks in advance for tracking this issue down as quickly as possible. :)

I had a bug where my Faehet Intel Warbird loadout constantly reset to default every time I beamed up from new Romulus or new Romulus command...and entering some sectors of space.

However, I found the solution was to re-claim the ship, get myself in a different ship and then change back to the Faehet Intel Warbird. So far, so good. Incidentaly, this is pretty much the solution I found for when clicking on yourself claims your shuttle name is your starship. Likewise (if you don't know folks) just dismiss the shuttle and re-buy/claim it. All should now be well.

    ;)

Nevertheless, I have one problem remaining for Movoc@vosoros -- my romulan tactical character aboard the R.R.W Devoras, a Faehet Intel Warbird.

The problem is that my character's outfit is wrong in the character selection during play startup. You know, where the warbird is above the crew and it says; "this is the legacy of..."

    :(

The rest of my crew are in the right outfit, but my guy is not. I get this when in orbit of new Romulus...but not when he's at the likes of new Romulus command. So...that's confusing.

    Any known solution? 'ELP!
