Sorry, but I have to jump in here. As crappy as it is that when they finally had almost all canon ships available at endgame they introduce a new tier, it's not half as bad as LOTRO. I tried playing it, and you can do almost nothing without paying real money.
You can play LOTRO without paying a single penny to Turbine if your willing to grind.
Turbine points are account wide... not tied to your character or server. Just grind deeds and save up on turbine points... when done delete toon and start over. Once you have enough you can buy the various pack(s) and get more quests deeds to do on your main/core toon.
it's boring and a slog to grind but you can if you want and not pay anything.

KDF and ROM are not bringing the money like FED's do.
That wouldn't be a problem if they actually DID something wholeheartedly for the KDF/Roms for once and not PURELY shove gift-wrapped favoritism towards the Federation!!! :mad:

I bought the Delta Ops pack earlier in the week, because I liked the look of the stuff and I'm happy with STO bringing me so many VOY actors. Then I decided on a whim to start a science Fed because why not even though there are so many missions that are a drag to get through to reach level 50...now they announce I'll be getting the Dauntless with my pack. This is why I love you, STO.
The Federation Guardian Cruiser, the KDF MaHa Raptor, and the Aelahl Light Warbird Battlecruiser. Aside from the Dauntless, they are the only non-Intel T6 ships that are in the pack.

T6 Intel Class ships get 2 Intel Boff stations. Other T6 ships get 1 Intel Boff station - generally low-end such as Lt or Ensign.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Nope, those are just normal ships. If you notice, intel ships all have the "intel" designation in their names. Phantom Intel Escort, Eclipse Intel Cruiser, Scryer Intel Science Vessel. The others don't have that designation.

I think this is ridiculous. The Dauntless was NEVER A STARFLEET VESSEL! If Cryptic even BOTHERED to watch any Star Trek episodes, you'd know the Dauntless was an alien vessel, disguised as a Federation Starfleet vessel, to lure Captain Janeway and the crew of Voyager to it, so that they could be assimilated by the Borg.
This is as bad as Starfleet/Federation officers being able to fly non-Starfleet Lockbox ships like the Ferengi D'Kora, or Cardassian Galor, or Jem'Hadar ships.
But, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Craptic's more concerned with making money, than doing Star Trek Online any justice. Guess I'll just have to wait for Star Trek Online 2 to be launched by a COMPETENT Game Developer.

STO is not a Star Trek simulator. It is a game designed with the intent of making players happy while playing it. This is the game where a 22nd Century NX can be seen flying next to a 23rd Century Connie, which is flying next to a 24th Century Centaur, which is flying next to a 25th Century ShiKahr. The game is not trying to be an accurate example of canon. It is designed to let each Trek fan geek-out in their own way.
The Dauntless is a ship from canon, thus some people will want to fly it. They do not care why it is there, only that it is there for them to use.

Even with this thrown in to the Delta Rising pack the costs of the pack isn't worth it for anyone but a dedicated Federation player. I'd rather see KDF and Romulan offerings to balance out what is being offered to the Federation players. Then the pack might be worth the price being asked for.
Yeah figured it was just the coming soon blog, was just curious if the specs had been released and I missed them. Tho it does say to keep hailing frequencys open.... one day later.... still waiting.
I really want a T6/Intel? Intrepid sci ship, then copy/paste the basics to make a Romulan/KDF version sci ship. That is my hope before DR launches.
