God, those ships look mostly hideous...
The Romulan ones look nice, (when do they not?) , I wouldn't be caught dead in any of those other ships..
I can only hope Cryptic decides to let us upgrade ships that are more aesthetically pleasing to Tier 6...
I can dream, right?
There is a Dev Blog on that, that makes more sense now that we know about Intelligence Officers and Intelligence Ships, it seems like the old ship classes at T6 will be very much like T5 ships Upgraded.
I wish there was either more parity between the ships counts. This is a great deal for a Fed player with KDF and/or RR alts, but not such a hot deal for a RR or KDF Player that might have alts of the other two factions. Honestly, as little as I play my fed alts, and KDF alt, the Vet Ship, which gets a free upgrade, is probably more then adequate for them.
I guess count this as my vote for cheaper "Faction" versions that have everything minus the other two factions ships (Oh, the the RR/KDF versions should cost a lot less then the Fed version because, you know, half as many ships, which are the big ticket item).
apart from the "Guardian Cruiser" and maybe the klink ships what the hell is cryptic thinking ? , to me those others are as ugly as hell (sorry but that's just my views of the designs) . crytic should run a contest for the best looking ships for the 3 races tbh (flame proof pants engaged) , some very talented ship artisits on these forums
Yeah, faction-specific packs at 1/2 (Fed) and 1/4 (KDF and Rom) price would be preferable. We'll just have to wait and see which ways these items will be available outside of preorder.
Q: What items in these packs are exclusive and cannot be obtained via the C-Store when Delta Rising launches in October?
A: The "Voyager", "Delta Quadrant Ambassador", and "Delta Quadrant Explorer" titles are exclusive to purchasers of the Operations Pack. The Special Delta Quadrant Duty Officer Mini-Pack is also exclusive in the sense that it will not be available in the C-Store for purchase, and contains three (3) unique Delta Quadrant Duty Officers that will join your crew. These Duty Officers are bound, cannot be donated to reputation or fleet holding projects, and provide no rewards upon dismissal. If all three are dismissed, you will be able to re-claim the mini-pack.

They had a contest over the Ent F, and the forums had a meltdown, one guy kept spamming about how their choice of the Odyssey was going to be the doom of the game (He either got perma-banned, or more likely institutionalized). So, I doubt they are every going to officially ask our opinions on art again.
Ship design, like all art is subjective. When The Ent D was first debuted, people freaked out about how terrible it was too, now its pretty iconic.
I actually kind of like them, other than the Fed Int cruiser, though I'm not a fan of the hull material.
I'm still excited about Delta Rising, but I'd be a fool to purchase this Pack now without knowing more about it's components so I'm waiting for more specifics.
I'll have to relook-back at the LoR deal to compare to this DR-OP deal & see if they are being stingy or generous with the offerings.
So far I'm concerned, if I'm reading it right which I hope I'm not, about the DOFFs. Do we get the (3) DOFFs per character or just one character? If it's just for one character that seems petty.
Also, I'm concerned with the (3) ship upgrading tokens, but not that there are only (3). I understand that type of reasoning, but are all (3) tokens for one character or can I use (1) token per character? I'm hoping it's allowing us to use the (3) tokens as we see fit across our account.
Simply not enough information yet to make a well-informed decision. Delta Rising still looks promising, but holding-off on purchasing till they maneuver the cart behind the horse.
I appreciate the effort to try something new with faction designs. I think there's a place for one off mergers of technology like the Dyson ships. That said, the Intelligence Federation ships all strike me as being from any generic sci-fi property. The Guardian is the only one that I'm interested in for the Feds. The Klingon and Romulan ships are more appealing.
Since I don't PVP, I'm more likely to be content upgrading my Fleet Galaxy, Nebula, and Ambassador.
The Romulans and KDF all have great designs. I already have a Fed-Rom, so, I can take advantage of those. My KDF characters are not endgame-level yet, but those two ships make me interested to pushed them the rest of the way.
Federation ships appears to be more controversial, but I like them too:
The Phantom Escort feels like its strongly inspired from the Defiant, albeit larger akin to the greater girth the patrol escort have. It also seems to draw from the Akira-lineage with the raised protuberances that help hide the bridge from the sides.
The Scryer makes the fanboy in me giddy - it's a reuse of Perpetual assets (Finally!). I think it looks like a nice science ship (heck, it looks really science oriented) though it doesn't have an appeal that makes me go "OMG I want to command it!"
I love how the Eclipse cruiser looks, personally. To me, it harkens back to the four-nacelled heavy cruiser line as a possible Stargazer-class successor, and also reminds me of the Jupiter-class dreadnought. I like how it looks and have no problem seeing its place as a future starfleet ship.Heck, it has no visible bridge, meaning it much be deeper inside the hull - my fleetmate Yuzral would approve.
The Guardian Cruiser brings in a bit of Galaxy-class, a bit of Ambassador-class, and saucer proportions remind me of the Voyager's primary hull... though the whole composition actually seems strongly inspired from the Perpetual Excalibur-class too. Style-wise, it seems to draw a lot of cues from it (as in, Sovereignized-Galaxy-class with rather horizontally-leaning nacelle pylons).
I like what I see and I've already bought my Operations pack. Delta Rising shows signs of having great production value, and I'm more than happy to show that we're an audience that will make it worth the effort.

reads like 3 on one toon

Hehe, I'd seen that; my response was to the suggestion of a Federation-only pack that I quoted, since that mentions no other potential packs... just the titles and doffs in the current pack.
I kind of thought the same thing, but until we see actual stats we won't now if the lack of Battle Cloak and Active Sensor Arrays are balanced by some other capability relative to the alternatives... pretty much a wait and see for now.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
well based on what was shown here, the T5 upgrades are worthless. Those new abilities are way Over Powered over what we have now. Why would i waste any time on them and not get T6?
I can't wait to be in my T5U ship and watch the T6 ship owners mad and whine when i kill them
Their tears will taste sweet with my roasted Targ

My only issue here is in the comparison to the Legacy pack. After the release of the Scimitar and Ar'kif, most of the ships were rendered obsolete and it wasnt too long after the Legacy pack came out. One could have done better buying the Starter pack, the cheapie valdore for that console, Scimi of one's choice and the Ar'kif and would not miss a beat. And would have saved money. This pack does seem to come with some good doffs for the new expansion though so maybe this one is more worth it. However, the Legacy pack was pretty much a waste of money.

I'd also like to know the answer to these two questions. Seems everybody is wailing about the ship looks, when we can't make any real judgments until we see them in the actual game engine. But these are probably more important questions that need answering ...
I'm a little disappointed that it's a ratio of 4 x 2 x 2 for ships, but it's not surprising, as ultimately the Star Trek IP has always been about Starfleet/UFP with the other factions as "enemies" or "allies".
...
I think the price great! If you look at the average price of a high level ship, of around 2k Zen then that's already $160, plus a costume unlock, another $5. 3 pack of Boff's would be $5 ~$7.50, 3 pack of DoFF's $2.50 and then finally the Upgrade Tokens which will be anywhere from $5 each to $10 each ... I think bought separately, it would be pushing $200, so $125 seems quite reasonable.
Other than the MaHa, I'm not interested. I passed on the Legacy pack with no regrets and I'm positive I won't feel like I am needing this stuff either.
I feel EXACTLY the same way. I ultimately bought 4 romulan ships and their fleet variants over the past year experiencing significant buyers remorse for 2 of the 4. If I were leveling, I'd go the route of mirror ships until I was 50th.
Having said I have experienced buyers remorse, I might just buy the set to try the consoles that after the first few uses are discarded for something more practical.
So compared to the LoR Legacy pack I dont see what this pack has got that makes it worth equal price. Fewer ships, no keys, no extra playable race (from start) and the Legacy psck was heavily oberpriced already.
I would advice to stay away from the pack.
Also what I dont get is why are some pics missing in the text but appear on the top?
The ships alone are worth probably around $160 ... @2K zen each on average for a higher/highest level ship ... BoFF's, DoFF's, Upgrade Tokens and Costumes, would easily be another $40 so ...

Remember, ships go up in price as they go up in tier. T6 ships will be worth more.
Besides, what matters is how much you would save compared to if you bought all those things individually; not how it compares to other packs.

Well that only points to the fact that ships already are heavily overpriced. The simple fact is they worked at max half a your on this thing and you want to give them the equivalent of three completely new games worth of money just for what exactly? Some models of not even ip ships? You do know that every game is made up of hundrets and thousands of models right? I dont see those worth so much. The problem is their stupid unimaginative way of earning money. No mission packs no pay to enter areas nothing. So basically for everyone to have the same options as paying customers they heavily overprice ships in the hopes that we keep buying them instead of just going all in on missions and stuff of this kind.
So if you think you get your money worth with this new pack - think again! Only way to make this calculation add up for you is if you factor in a heavy "support the game" addition to the price.
I think all I would really want from that are the two Fed cruisers and the Very Rare Boff's and Doff's...the rest meh. So I probably won't get it. Guess I'll probably piece meal it.
Same. I'm only interested in one maybe two of the Fed ships. As for the rest of it, not so much.
STO: Where men are men and the women probably are too.
I support the Star Trek Battles channel.
I hope you are correct about the DOFFs, but I hope you are wrong about the ship upgrading tokens.
Their statement about the BOFFs is much more precise so I don't understand their ambiguous wording regarding the other features.
1.) I hope they mean that the tokens are claimed once by one toon, but are unbound or account bound. It'd be real stupid to have 3 stuck to one character (but this is Cryptic)
2.) I also read the Boffs as each toon gets the 3 of them.
3.) And like most people here, the KDF and RR ships look great and fit the faction. The Fed ships do look weird. Like the designer was thinking more of making Enterprise-J progenitor ships than anything in VOY/DS9/TNG. I also hope they have some mix-and-match parts. But Cryptic seems to not really care about doing that anymore.
4.) Cryptic needs to give the new Raptor a Battle Cloak since all the Feds have (I assume) standard cloaks. They can't say "...the most advanced tactical vessel in the KDF fleet." and then give it an old standard cloak.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.
125$ for ships that will be useless when the next lvl cap increase come in a few years ? No thank you.
I'll buy what I want from stipend/dil I'm not going to spend money in this game anymore.
