The Expansion, Delta Rising, is free. This Operations pack gets you all initial Tier 6 ships, intelligence Boffs, intelligence doffs, costumes, titles, and other goodies. All usable at Endgame, to boot.
I'm actually considering it, as it looks like it's a pretty good deal. Now, if there were a few lockbox keys in there to sweeten the deal....:)
i was originally thinking no, but 8 ships, 3 upgrade tokens, 3 boffs, and 3 doff per character's starting to sound like a deal i might consider.
That being said, when a complete "AAA" video game takes around $60 million (That's $60,000,000.00) to $80 million to develop and cost about $70.00 for me to buy. Shelling out $125.00 for a DLC expansion seems excessive. Considering PWE paid a little over $50 million for Cryptic and all it's IP's a few years ago. When I see the $125 asking price for this new DLC and can't help but to wonder how much of that is actual voice talent and man-hours invested, and how much of that might be fleecing?
By "fleecing," do you mean "profit"?
Because it sounds like you mean profit. Which the game needs to generate to remain viable.
And quite honestly, it's impossible to say, since that's entirely dependent upon the number of people who purchase the pack.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"

"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

Worth buying this time because each of those ships unlocks a trait you can use on T5U ships. I think Cryptic is going to make a heck of a lot of money this expansion, way more than last time.
1) I need to buy the T6 ships, otherwise I'll get left behind. ($125)
2) Damn I need to level up all these T6 ships but need more ship slots ($5-$10)
3) Well, I'd like to level up more ships, and I don't want to loose the ships I've leveled ($5 every two ships)
And so on and so forth. Dismissing leveled up ships will really be a tough decision. Cryptic will be rolling in the dough come October 14th.
So about that treaty the United Federation of Planets signed that prohibits them from developing cloaking technology? Yeah where the hell did that go and when? :P You know the one that STO lore even expressly states that cloaking technology is illegal.
The guarding cruiser looks like it could be a cool galaxy/ambassador skin but the other 3 look like fecal matter and have 0 federation design asthetic to them.
The Klingons and Romulans got nice looking ships but, damn, can you EVER get over yourselves and stop with the fed bias on development??!! You want more money out of KDF and RR stop giving the feds 4x the TRIBBLE you give the other factions and give us something to buy ffs!
Probably the treaty that was signed after Surface Tension where they made the Alpha Quadrant Alliance official. Also, Empress Sela was kidnapped by the Iconians so it is not like the Romulan Star Empire is in a position to complain about the Federation using cloaking technology.
Never thought I would see the day when I would be supporting Federation cloaking devices, but we should have expected it when Smirk started supporting it about a week ago.
All those ships need cloaks to hide their ugly. Maybe the raptor is ok but thats pushing it. I hope these skins are just a bad joke because when x2 comes out the ugly F'ers are gonna be everywhere. My eyes already burn.

Well from a story point of view, the Federation signed it with an empire that's been dying for a few decades. Perhaps the Romulan Republic said to hell with that treaty and skipped off into the Delta Quadrant with their Federation and Klingon buddies hand in hand.
As for the Federation ships, yeah the design is too far out there. Then again, I did say the same when I first saw the Defiant in DS9. Maybe it just takes awhile to get used to. However, I do have a beef with the skin. It would be more interesting if they had a new sleek black skin or if that's too close to the one we have now, a shiny silver skin. As of now, the skin looks too similar to the Reman ship skin.
The big pack for the Legacy Of Romulus wasn't in the c-store at first either, not till a few months after launch. That way people that want to preorder have to do so with real money, rather than farmed zen.
The fed ships are smooth, sleek designs that would be magnificent if this wasn't Star Trek. but despite all that Cryptic has done to it, this is Star Trek and because of that, the fed ships are just wrong. Stealth ships or no, they just don't evoke the look or feel of a starfleet vessel.
Honestly, they look more like some yet unknown alien race that happens to have ships that are vaguely similar to federation designs. that doesn't in any way detract from the designs themselves. On their own, they are great looking ships, just not great looking Federation ships.
The only one that evokes federation lines is the guardian and even that is obvious about it, as if it was designed for no other reason than to say "Hey look! I'm a federation ship!"
As for the others, the KDf ships actually look like KDF ships with that "bulky yet threatening" vibe that klingons tend to go for, though the nacelles on the Maha battlecruiser are way too big for my tastes.
Now the romulans, that's another story. Not only do they look like romulan designs, but they carry the old lines of the romulan vessels we've come to know, while also moving forward towards new technologies. So, kudos on the romulan ships, meh on the klingon ships, and "Oh God why?!" on the Federation ships.
T5-U's may end up being TRIBBLE, but I'll stick with my Odyssey thank you.
I guess I'm in the minority - I like the looks of all the ships except the Klingon ones.
But then, I don't really care about canon.
There is no way in hell that any of my toons will wear Telaxian clothing.

So true it's painful. Only thing I would want is the KDF stuff... but man, that battlecruiser got mercilessly beat with an ugly stick. Raptor is better but not by much. No T6 BoP, no T6 KDF science ship that actually looks klingon, no surprise.
Hmm only two ships for the KDF and ghastly to boot, gee wonder why KDF side doesn't spend nearly as much, go figure. Cryptic keeps the self fufilling prophecy of low ROI for alternate factions going, a proud tradtion since launch. <golf clap>

Seconded. the delta quadrant is the galactic equivalent of the Ozarks, and I am damned if I'm wearing that originated from there. Neelix can keep his clothing line. Now Mr. Garak on the other hand, there's a tailor.
Captains! Youre about to explore an area of space that is only partially charted, and full of a few friends, a lot of foes, and even more unknowns in Delta Rising! We're excited to announce the Delta Rising: Operations Pack. The Operations Pack will ensure youre fully prepared for your journey through the Delta Quadrant by giving you access to the most cutting-edge technology, personnel, and ships in the fleet.
I think you need to go proof read the FAQ again there is still alot of LoR reference in there just in the first answer, pay day is Friday for me so I will be getting this then so I am ready for October.

These are supposed to be stealth ships...the guardian doesn't have a cloak
Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.
Guardian Cruiser wouldn't look that bad, if it had a wider saucer IMO.
I just hate the egg shaped saucers that cryptics designers seem to love so much.
I hope they will fine tune it's appearance a bit. The neck looks too steep also.

CRYPTIC LIED TO PEOPLE for their last 'limited time only preorder sale' pack in Neverwinter.
The Dragonborn pack was $100, but 'on sale' for $75 until launch of the new race.
Then patch day hit and not only did the price not go up, but it was now available for 7500 Zen AND available on the Steam Wallet for $75 too.
Yes STO is a different game (we have a subscription option for example), but Cryptic lied to everyone and lied big less than a month ago.

yeah how come its not in the c-store?
The big pack for the Legacy Of Romulus wasn't in the c-store at first either, not till a few months after launch. That way people that want to preorder have to do so with real money, rather than farmed zen.
Lifers would use their stipend to buy it and free players would use dilithium to buy zen to buy it. Thus Cryptic wouldn't make any money.
"Requires the base game Star Trek Online on Arc in order to play. "
....clarification on the "on Arc" part please....
Eight traits that can be used on all 5u and t6 ships. Plus the items themselves. One trait on each ship, exactly as you quoted, but not as you spoke.

Sounds like a good deal. By my math.
And i'm not even including the other stuff you get, so the ship price drops even more.

Wait about 9 months for it to go on sale, buy with zen instead of cash. Just like the LoR pack.
But why in Spock's name did they think a Neelix costume pack would be an enticement!!
