The Guardian-class concept art is looking less than appealing. Hopefully there are some cosmetic choices such as different necks and nacelles.
Ship customization is dead. You can expect perhaps some hull material options at most. It's easier for Cryptic to make and sell several separate ships, than to make a few skins for one model.
I.e. as long as the ship isn't a re(tro)fit of an existing model, there's no point in expecting any decent customization.

actually on reddit the concept artists for the ships mentioned alternate geometry pieces, as welll as classic hull mats
well if each toon (and I'm guessing each toon) gets the 3 ship upgrade tokens, that alone makes it worth getting the pack. (if it's 3 per account not so much)

"Three Ship Upgrade Tokens*
Use these to upgrade your Tier 5 ships for when you begin to explore the Delta Quadrant! Not all ships are upgrade-able.
*This option unlocks once per account on a character of your choice."
I copied and pasted that from the link in the blog.
So you get 3 tokens on one character of your choice and thats it.
Finally the feds get nothing but ugly ships and the KDF and Rommies get some really neat looking ships for a change. I REALLY don't want the fed ships as they just DO NOT look like anything anywhere in the established Trek universe, they might as well be from another game entirely, they are about as dumb looking as the Terran looking Cruise Ship with wings from the Risa event.
Though not exactly balanced giving the feds 4 ships. Darn and here as a KDF/ROM KDF player I was going to throw money at you guys. Why do you hate KDF and ROM players money so much?
Any way we can get something to upgrade our level 5 fleet ships to full level 6 instead? Now that would be worth some money! I mean they have shipyards and retrofits for a reason, why would it stop at tier 5?
But I got 3 main questions:
What the heck is "Requires ARC" because isn't that the terrible STEAM ripoff no one likes? Are you guys seriously trying that hard to lose paying customers now?
And
What about customization? We have been getting a lot of ships lately (luckily on the fed side I don't care to buy) that have no customization options outside of paint jobs and maybe one extra type of nacelles.
And
Can you guarantee us there will never be another level cap increase or tier 7?
When Legacy of Romulus was released they have also released a pack full of ships that today nobody uses anymore.
Why?
Because in the weeks after the release better ships were introduced which let the ships in the pack look like small toys.
Delta Rising certainly wont be different.
The good (better) ships will be introduced a few weeks AFTER the release... rendering the DR pack ships as pure TRIBBLE.
Here's my two cents. How do you think of the Federation getting 3 dang Intel ships covering all the Careres while only Rom anD KDF GET ONE CAREE INTEL SHIP? It's BEYOND UNFAIR. FEDS SHOULD NOT HAVE THE ONLY WIDESPREAD PLEASURE TO ALL CAREER CHOICES IN INTEL SHIPS... ALL FACTIONS SHOULD. This is an injustice. I shouldn't be forced to be engineering on KDF just to get well powerful perks on a Intel ship when I want to escort my foes... and no way in Risa will I be federation just to get a Dang escort Intel. You're playing favorites, and really TRIBBLE all the" antagonist" factions.
R'tolves Will Spread Thier Peace and Will Prevail Over the Hostiles Who Dare Hurt Such A Isolationist Consitutional Monarchy!

Because of money. Feds are bringing most money = more ships.

It's a way to get you to buy content for the "free" games without the distractions of other games on Steam taking away revenue. Given what they are offering for this upgrade pack, have you ever heard of a game expansion or part of a game expansion costing $125? That's pretty pricey for just a small side upgrade to a game.

The game expansion is Free, but if you want the new shiny ships for your characters to use that costs money.
I would like to thanks all of you at CRYPTIC / STO for making my online gaming experience so wonderful! I should have signed on back when you first started game and forum. But work and life was so complex back then I was always traveling. Anyway today being my Birthday 9/7/2014 will be a limited playtime for me today. But still I look forward to when Delta Rising is finally here!

I have seen lots of complaints about the look of the Star Fleet vessels, while I agree with most of them. I really hope that you can put a different skin of someof the vessels. End the end it really comes down to stats. I will be willing to spend the money on some ships, if they are worth it in my game and play style. So as soon as all of the stats are released the sonnet Crypitc can have my money. If I only like one ship then I just might grind the zen.
Captains! Youre about to explore an area of space that is only partially charted, and full of a few friends, a lot of foes, and even more unknowns in Delta Rising! We're excited to announce the Delta Rising: Operations Pack. The Operations Pack will ensure youre fully prepared for your journey through the Delta Quadrant by giving you access to the most cutting-edge technology, personnel, and ships in the fleet.
I'm still looking forward to the Delta Rising expansion even though I have not purchased the Operations Pack yet, & I may not end-up purchasing it depending on how I weigh it's value versus cost. It's what we all do & we all have different factors in that equation. Here is what I think of the Operations Pack so far given it's $124.99 cost:
For ship purposes I think there should be 2-3 per faction of different professions. I'd prefer a ship per profession for each faction, but I could understand the business appeal of 2 ships per faction of different professions leaving out one profession specific ship per faction. As has been stated, I'm hoping for an allowance of different skins being used because I like TRON but this is Star Trek after all. I wont address the current skins because whether I like or dislike everyone has their opinions with validity.
The Talaxian Uniform is a nice little cosmetic perk. I'm sure, if not already thought up, more varied Delta Quadrant costumes will be buyable in the future.
Three Ship Upgrade Tokens* Plain & simple these tokens should be useable account-wide as the player deems proper. Account locked is understandable, but they need to clarify that then any character on that account can use the token(s). If they're thinking of having one character use all three tokens then that is pure rubbish.
The Intelligence BOFFs, if I'm reading it correctly, will give three per character on an account. I like this a lot & think it's very generous of them. It also makes me ponder the importance of these Intelligence BOFFs in STO's future if they're being that generous with them.
The DOFFs current statement reads like it's going to be three DOFFs per character on an account. Their traits will determine their usefulness. I think this is a nice compliment to the package, but it could be one through ten DOFFs per character & it all depends upon their usefulness giving them value.
Titles are again cosmetic & a nice little perk with no gaming impact.
Overall, definitely not a terrible package deal. I don't think it's worth the cost, but that's my decision so far. I prefer to spend my money on products & services I know about mostly with indulgences here & there too. Since they haven't released all the information involving this package I'm withholding my money for such a possible purchase for now. I think it's respectful that if you're beginning to sell anything informing your customers first with all the available information & having your product &/or service sell itself on it's own merits. I'm sure though they have calculated all their reasons for doing such actions with the possible pros & cons. I simply want to learn more. If I like it buy it & if I don't I wont.
Well, the Delta pack is interesting, but I'm not really sold on getting it. I only desired to play Romulan since STO launch, and since LoR that is pretty much all I have played. So, if you had have come out with three different Delta Packs, one for each faction, then I would have gotten the Romulan Delta Pack.
However, since I am paying $124USD to fly 1 ship, and another sometime down the line...I think I will pass. Especially saying that the pack includes 6 ship I will never fly, as compared to the LoR pack which had ships that I desired to fly, and have flied as they were practical to the faction I enjoy to play as.
Related, but on a different note. Why is there no mention of a 4th faction being introduced into Delta rising? I thought Cryptic had said last November 2013, that due to the success of LoR they would be releasing a 4th faction, late 2014. If so, why have we not been updated of it yet? At this point, I'm think in might be the Borg alliance, due to the frequent mention of them, and it being the starting mission and all. However, I really thought it would be the Cardassians, as a poll done a while back had them as being fairly popular, and a logical choice to finish the Alpha quadrant major races off.
Regardless of speculation though, is there, or is there not a 4th faction being released? This is what I was hoping for, and a Operations pack of a new faction I might buy. However, the current Delta Rising Operations Pack, which seems more like a variety pack for all factions, heavily favouring the Federation... I am not invested in. If, however, you make a smaller faction specific Delta rising packs, with a much lower price point for only 2 of 8 ships being released, then I might be invested in that.
If i compare the legacy pack to the delta pack its just sad.
A lot less ships and on top of that split over all factions. Wtf?
No keys no extra playable race nothing. Just a few ships a uniform and some titles?
For the same money i get about 13-14k zen which should be enough to buy me all those ships anyways. Where is the discount? Where is the early buyer extra discount like with Legacy pack?
I would have bought it anyways but thats just such a bad deal i sincerely hope noone will buy this junk pack.
And just a small reminder: just becase half you players or more never spend any money on you game doesnt give you the right to rip off those who do. If you want that kind of money make it worth it. Add 80-100 keys to the pack maybe then i would consider getting it. Or more uniforms maybe a special weapon that otherwise unavailable. Or a nice new device like the rmc.
What I would like to know is, who the heck is designing the ships these days?
Honestly I love the look of most of the ships in the game currently (even the Dyson ships) but the new T6 fed ships are absolutely horrendous.
What were you guys thinking?
If you wanted some new ideas on ship designs why didn't you run a contest and get the ideas from the fans? I am sure MANY of us have much better style ideas than what you have shown at the moment.
All in all however I am looking forward to the new content but I will stick to my current ships when it hits if those T6 ones are all you guys have for us.

On the idea of a contest: From what i hear the contest for the Enterprise-F was a massive mess, caused by players complaining that theirs wasnt chosen and so on
On the T6 ships: Is is the hull material (::cough::tron lines::cough::) that you are worried about? because the artists confirmed that classic hull material is on the way for these new ships.

7 ships at 2500 or 3000 ZEN or even more who knows (LOR pack had 10 ships but 5 of them where t1-t4 ships, so 500 ZEN, 750 ZEN, 1000 ZEN ships + shuttle)
no 30 keys but 3 ship upgrades ( so from 1500 to 3000 ZEN)
And delta pack has more uniforms, special boffs.. etc
So it is fair deal if you consider LOR pack to be a good deal

No it wasn't the color or lines it is the basic design. They look half generic and all NON Star Trek.
Ships from Star Trek have a specific "look" to them. You can only go so far before you absolutely go off track. And these new ships are really off track.
Edit: Not to mention that they are not at all pleasing to the eyes.

As they say "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I for one like the design of the intel ships. Yes it is off the beaten Starfleet path, but so what? The Guardian cruiser is more inline with "standard" design for you than get that one, or if your current ship is more to your liking just upgrade it and keep that one.

I laugh at people griping about the design. We didn't see this backlash when the defiant was shown for the first time. that design was far from normal fed design.

Cryptic never said there would be a new faction. They said that the success of LoR would allow them to release a new expansion. New expansion does not always mean new faction. There is no new playable faction in Delta Rising.
The Delta Rising Operations Pack is basically just a way to get all the new ships that will be released at the launch of the expansion for a discount. If you don't want all of them, you can buy them individually after the expansion goes live. The only thing you can't get later is probably some or all of the titles.
For the same money i get about 13-14k zen which should be enough to buy me all those ships anyways. Where is the discount? Where is the early buyer extra discount like with Legacy pack?
Are you kidding? Every ship might easily cost between 3'000 and 3'500 zen. Lower tier ships have so far never been reduced in price when a new Tier of ships came out. The 8 ships included in the pack would sum up to a total SHIP VALUE of 24'000-28'000 zen which is $240-$280. Now add to that the 3 upgrade tokens which will have a total value of 1'500 to 3'000 zen (500-1000 per token) as well as the special Boffs and Doffs. This easily adds up to at least $300 !
Even if they decide that they don't want to go above 2'500 zen for a Tier 6 ship and thus reduce all prices of lower tier ships accordingly you would still end up with $200 of ship value.
In both cases $125 is a pretty neat discount, don't you think?
I laugh at people griping about the design. We didn't see this backlash when the defiant was shown for the first time. that design was far from normal fed design.
Lol, that was in the early 90's. Back before the internet was such a big thing and we all had handy forums to see other people's feedback. I'd bet some fans did write letters of complaint about the Defiant design but we just wouldn't have seen them. :P
Personally, I can handle the designs it's just the hull material I don't like, it looks a bit tacky (though that may just be because the screenshots are not very well taken or of a high resolution, so I'll still reserve full judgement until I can see them in game).
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.
True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!
Is it a deal? Yes. you get more then the value if you got the items separately and a few exclusives. So as a collector this pack is worth it in general.
Will I buy it? No. Other then the cost personally I really only want less then half the pack. The Boffs will be able to get after the release through a mission (doff or story) in one form or another. The ships I'll upgrade a few, but only T6 I like right now is the Rom and the Fed cruiser.
So spending a $125 for two ships, three tokens, and some boffs is not worth it for me. I'll just grind out the zen for those toons that will upgrade or wait it out for my stipend to get the t6 for my main. Plus there is always the ship sales that happen every few months, I'm sure there will be one around Christmas.
As for the feds getting more ships then the other factions, all got their intel ships. By canon there have always been more fed designs then alien. Also I'm not going to be surprised that we will see other t6 of each of the classes as time goes on. Heck even a concept art of the other classes I'm sure could sate those hungry for more of their favorite faction.
..well I already pre-ordered Delta Rising, and I hope the Interior VOYAGER engineering and bridge will be avail......I already Love, and am Partial to My Intrepid Class ship...and to obtain, those 2 things...would be Icing on the Cake...bout Time! SIKE! I HOPE that will be avail to have soon......cause' when it comes to Statrek Online, I DON'T SKRIMP! I've been playing since BETA and have seen the Game transform.........Im happy with it's maturity thus far..:D
....and to those complaining about the price.....dammmm...you think it's (all) free? It takes people to keep this game/site/adventure/art etc etc together.....

Lol, that was in the early 90's. Back before the internet was such a big thing and we all had handy forums to see other people's feedback. I'd bet some fans did write letters of complaint about the Defiant design but we just wouldn't have seen them. :P
Personally, I can handle the designs it's just the hull material I don't like, it looks a bit tacky (though that may just be because the screenshots are not very well taken or of a high resolution, so I'll still reserve full judgement until I can see them in game).
Here's to hoping for a new BoP soon.
....and to those complaining about the price.....dammmm...you think it's (all) free? It takes people to keep this game/site/adventure/art etc etc together.....
